I have no visual proof so here's some written instead. Sister set 8266 has soft spring. No dark gray versions of this spring are for sale or have sold in either hard or very hard or even extra extra hard. All the used copies of this I've looked at show soft and Frank said his sisters ex husbands cousin had a copy of this set given to him at a 'turn of the millenium technic building party' and they are pretty sure I'm correct.

Your evidence was so-so and Frank's sister's ex-husband's cousin's
evidence was less than convincing. I think I will go with my evidence. Here is
a close up image of a sealed set. Huh. Turn's out that Frank's sister's
ex-husband's cousin was right.
