That is probably the reason and I just missed the post. Really sad. I have never,
in my 16 years on BL, seen anything like this.

Nothing has been done or not done to those entries. They are all for instructions,
and many or most of the missing images represent instructions that do not even
exist, because Basic sets often didn't include them.

What would you do with a set of instructions for a basic set that Bricklink "says"
does not exist then?

And why would there have been images of those instructions in years past if they
did not exist?

If you have instructions for a set that BrickLink lists as not being available,
you fill out and submit a Catalog Change Request to have an instructions entry
added to the set.

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=S

Fill in the set number at the top, click on the check box next to "Number of
Instructions" and then select how many separate books/leaflets/etc. there are
for the set.

Thanks Randy. That is good to know. The item in question is for set
4105-1 I believe as the parts shown in the Idea Book match those in the inventory.
I understand it is an Idea Book BUT it does differ from the instructions listed
for this set. It does show how to build things in the book.

The second picture is taken from inside the book to show 2 printed pieces that
only come in set 4105-1.
I believe what has happened is the picture attached for the instructions for
4105-1 are wrong and I have the correct book for that set.

Cass T
P.S. I apologize for the poor quality pictures!

Set 4105 was released at three different times:

Set No: 4105 Name: Imagine and Build
*
4105-1 (Inv) Imagine and Build
500 Parts, 2002
Sets: Creator: Basic Set

Set No: 4105 Name: 50th Anniversary Bucket - Limited Edition
*
4105-2 (Inv) 50th Anniversary Bucket - Limited Edition
500 Parts, 2005
Sets: Creator: Basic Set

Set No: 4105 Name: 487 Piece Red Bucket
*
4105-3 (Inv) 487 Piece Red Bucket
483 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2006
Sets: Creator: Basic Set

The first version in 2002 started with the Creator branding and then transitioned
to plain branding. You can see the early style packaging if you look at the Original
Box entry for 4105-1.

Original Box No: 4105 Name: Imagine and Build
*
4105-1 Imagine and Build
Original Boxes: Creator: Basic Set

So what you have there are the instructions that appeared in the earliest versions
of the set. Your image can be added as an additional image to the instructions
entry for 4105-1. You can submit the image here:

The inventory for 4105-1 is different from 4105-2 & 4105-3...So the instructions
shown would not be correct for 4105-1. The picture of the instructions for 4105-1
are just a copy of the 4105-3 and because of the inventory difference should
not be shown at all.

Please check the inventories listed for all 3 4105 sets and you will see what
I am talking about.

Hi Randy.
I tried to use the link you gave. There is not a "Number of Instructions" check
box. Also there isn't any way to upload a photo.

You don't need to change the number of instructions, because the set already
has an instructions entry. You just need to upload your image here:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogImageAdd.page?itemType=I

Add a note when you upload it referencing this thread and the fact that it is
a replacement image for the current one.

Cheers,

Notify us, we will open up the instructions entry for that set, and you can submit
an image for it.

And why would there have been images of those instructions in years past if they
did not exist?

If there are images, it's a good indication that the item exists. However,
sometimes there isn't a clear line between "instructions" and "catalog" or
"poster" in some sets, and so it's not always a guarantee that the image
is actually showing the instructions.

We do the best we can with these bucket-type sets. There is very little interest
in collecting them, the instructions aren't worth much, and contributors
over the years have not shown much interest in filling out all the data and images
in the catalog. It's just a rather low profile area of the catalog.

You seeing instructions entries under that link for those sets and just many
of them missing image for instruction and that is why you don't see images
there.

We currently missing 966(!) images for instructions
