Dear members,

What a momentous day it is for everyone here at BrickLink and in this community because on this very day 20 years ago, BrickLink went live. The site, created by Dan Jezek, became the place to meet others who shared the same passion for the colorful bricks and the build itself.

To help us kick off the 20 Days of BrickLink event, Dan Jezek’s mother and former CEO of BrickLink has written a thoughtful message addressing the community:

This month we mark the 20th Anniversary of the founding of BrickLink. Larry Hawthorne and I want to join all of you in virtually celebrating this wonderful milestone. As it were, we find ourselves in Honolulu, Hawaii, where we have remained since the COVID-19 pandemic expanded in early March. How appropriate it is that we are here in the same location where Dan launched BrickLink (then BrickBay) on June 19, 2000. I have provided a brief video message inviting you to share with me some personal remembrances from the time Dan spent putting BrickLink together, building it from scratch.

I can only stress that if Dan were alive today, I know he would be so proud and grateful to you for making his dream, BrickLink, come true. Without you, none of this would be possible. Please think of Dan on the 20th anniversary of BrickLink on June 19th, and on what would have been his 43rd birthday, June 25th.

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for an absolutely awesome 20 years of BrickLink!

So much has happened between then and now that has allowed us to grow and evolve. With this milestone, let us celebrate together and not only look back on how far we have all come, but also look forward to what the future holds.

20 Days of BrickLink event

This event will also focus on BrickLink’s history and future and how the community played a part in its success. It will also be a space where we can share original stories, content, etc. with each other. The first week of the event is dedicated to the first 10 years of BrickLink, the second week dedicated to years 11-15, the third week focuses on events leading up to the present, and the last week focuses on the future. The 20 Days of BrickLink event will begin on Monday, June 22nd, and it will run until Friday, July 17th (excluding weekends).

Every week, we will cover a topic for each weekday:

About – On Mondays, we will share a general post about the week’s theme. There are four themes altogether: how it all started, what made a difference, where things are today, and what’s next.

Spotlight – On Tuesdays, we will be putting the spotlight on members of the community for contributing to or having an impact on BrickLink in some way.

Your Stories – On Wednesdays, members who shared their BrickLink moment story with us will be posted here. If you’d like to submit your own story, please go to the submissions page. If you have a MOC that represents the 20th anniversary, add the tag 20 Days of BrickLink to your MOC details so that other members can easily find it in the Studio Gallery.

From the Team – On Thursdays, members from our team will share a story related to the week’s theme.

BrickLink Challenge – On Fridays, we thought we’d make things a little more interesting with some challenges! Questions will be multiple-choice or open-ended, and depending on the challenge, you will be timed. Some answers may even be in previous posts

Join us on Monday, June 22nd for Day 1 of 20 Days of BrickLink,! We hope that you all will enjoy this special event.

Thank you,

The BrickLink Team

As a TFOL, I've only been shopping on Bricklink for about two years, but
I loved the video, and I love the idea of celebrating why Bricklink is essential
to the online community. Happy 20 years!

Quite an achievement, congratulations to all!
I’ve only been around since 2008, been thru most of the big changes...
Dan is an inspirational person, never met him, but really putting this together
from scratch, an outstanding achievement!
Very sad that he isn’t around to see how huge it got, and then now in LEGO’s
hands.

Hi Bricklinkers and Admins,

happy birthday Bricklink,
and thanks to Bricklink team, the Jezek family and LEGO for keeping this site
up.

Being an army builder (mainly Life on Mars) this has been THE site to buy figures
and figure parts since August 2006 for me, so almost 14 years.

Having done over 1500 Transactions, mostly as a buyer, I have

- never had a bad experience with a seller (I think except one): you are honest,
always friendly, solution-oriented, helpful and willing to negotiate for a good
deal for seller and buyer.

- never been scammed or lost a package on its way to me while rarely taking insured
shipping.

This site sets quality standards!

Hoping for a long-living-Bricklink-platform for us LEGO enthusiasts and being
thankful for the past 14 years and the following ones.

Greets
Farid

Congratulations on the 20th anniversary of Bricklink. I have enjoyed Bricklink
for many years and I hope to once meet you in person.

Eliska, it was so nice that you gave us a glimpse into the life of Dan, while
he was working on setting up BrickLink. Thanks for that!

Many Greatings from the Netherlands!

Happy Birthday, Bricklink! Eternal thanks to Dan Jezek and his family, and those
who've carried the torch since, for providing a resource that has become
an integral part of the LEGO hobby. In truth, I wouldn't have been able to
complete any of my MOCs to date, or build up my Classic Space set collection,
without Bricklink. It has been a paramount force for creativity and community
around the globe, and I am ever grateful.

Dear Eliska,

Thank you for the historical and highly emotional stories about BrickLink's
birth and Dan's hardwork.

No mother should go under such pain of losing a son. And I can only have a vague
idea of what you've been through, furthermore when his anniversary is this
upcoming week. Please accept my warm thoughts towards you and Dan.

Loved the image when he falls asleep in front of the computer: talk about an
image speaking more than 1000 words

It is indeed very sad that he doesn't see how big the plataform he created
turned out to be, and how it "links" so many people all around the world.

I had the chance to interact with Dan a couple of times via message/email. I
remember one of the subjects was currency, in a time when currencies other than
USD were just a mirage. His replies were always prompt and clear.

I witnessed the birth of BrickBay, on the LugNet forum, run by Todd and Suzanne,
and I do remember the excitment of some members of such a plataform for trading
and selling their surplus. Eventually life got in the way of life, and I only
signed up 2 years later.

I want to thank Dan, for all he have done and made possible, to you and Larry
for taking BrickLink trhough difficult times you and all the volunteers that
made this possible, the current Administration, and of course all members in
general.

Happy Birthday BrickLink!

For those of us that came along a little late to Bricklink(2013 for me!) Thank
you to his parents for sharing an emotional insight into Dan’s life and achievements.
I’m sure he would have been overwhelmed that the company and product he was once
so passionate about would in itself have taken such a keen interest in his own
creation!
It’s very clear that Bricklink means so much to so many Lego enthusiasts all
around the world and so for Lego to recognise this along with the vast community
following his platform has generated must make you extremely proud!

Congratulations on 20 years of Bricklink and thank you to all those involved
with keeping the site running...
