I have a question. Are the colors of some clikits changed? Yesterday I was listing
some clikits and at the same time looking for mistakes in my inventorie. I found
a lot of neon yellow parts that I did not list as neon yellow but as trans light
yellow. Trans light yellow is now gone. Changed in neon yellow without a note.
But I do have part 003 in both noen yellow and trans (light?)yellow. I was lucky
nobody ordered the parts!

Maybe same issue as BJE noticed, see https://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=269042

It is somewhat like what bje noticed. In Clikits in particular there was a severe
problem with colors inconsistently identified between sets, partly because Clikits
uses so many colors that are unique to Clikets or were unique when they came
out. People inventoried the sets with best guesses. They have all been standardized
now.

Since I am not an admin, I will not fall on my sword, but I was very involved
in the project and in the course of this project a lot of changes got made to
tighten up the catalog and there is no good system in place to contact everyone
concerning the changes. I have sometimes taken it upon myself to contact fellow
sellers on changes like this, but frankly the responses have been mixed. Some
people thank me and others tell me to mind my own business, so I have become
disenchanted with the effort.

Set No: 7557 Name: Blooms & Butterflies
*
7557-1 (Inv) Blooms & Butterflies
14 Parts, 2005
Sets: Clikits
came with [p=clikits003] [p=clikits099] and [p=clikits100pb01] in
a color Lego calls Trans-Fire Yellow, only found in this set. Bricklink doesn't
have a separate color for these 3 pieces, so they are lumped into Trans-Neon
Yellow. They can be differentiated as you found. Trans-Fire Yellow doesn't
glow as strongly as Trans-Neon Yellow.

There are many more parts in trans fire yellow, originating in more Clikits sets.

Thank you for your answers. It was indeed time for a clean up for clikits colors.
The only problem is the lack of notification. Because in this case I have 2 different
colors yellow both called trans neon yellow now. But I go change the discription
of them

That is why I opposed this change, but I lost that discussion.

I wish it didn't feel that way to you. I have the same ideal as you that
Trans-Fire would get added to the catalog and we could do it perfectly. I only
disagree with you on which way we should be wrong since we have to be wrong.

It does feel that way, but I can understand your point of view also. We just
have different priorities/preferences.

(Don't worry, I don't blame anyone and I don't make this a personal
issue. We can't always get what we want.)

If we could have this color in the catalog, how would you name it?

- The color is lighter than Trans-Yellow
- The color is a fluorescent (but less so than Trans-Neon Yellow
- The color was used for Clikits only
- The official name is Transparent Fire Yellow

I think that not many users would know what "Fire yellow" means.
(These parts are actually Fire Yellow: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?catID=575&catXrefLevel=0&colorPart=3&catType=P
That color is so close to yellow that it does not make sense to add a new color
here)

"Trans-Clikits Light Neon Yellow" might be least confusing, but that is an awkward
and long.

"Trans-Light Yellow" would be recognisable,
but I think that confused sellers will be using it for other parts also.

  "Trans-Light Yellow" would be recognisable,
but I think that confused sellers will be using it for other parts also.

My thoughts:

(1) "Tran-Light Yellow" was my first thought for a name, so I am glad to see
you mention that. It is distinctly lighter than normal Trans-Yellow, so I think
it fits nicely in the current list of color names.
(2) "Trans-Fire Yellow" is a non-starter because it doesn't make any sense
and current "Trans-Neon Yellow" looks much more "fiery" than this color.
(3) I would do anything to not have the "Clikits" name in the trans-colors list,
so a name with "Clikits" in it is most likely also a non-starter (even though
it was only used in the Clikits theme).
(4) The fact that it fluoresces is not apparent just by looking at the color,
so I would stray away from anything with "Neon" in the name.

I got the last two colors added ("Clikits Lavender" and "Trans-Light Bright Green")
due to the huge Clikits project that was worked on all last summer, so I can
see what I could do to get this one added.

If anyone has any other thoughts on this, please post them here.

Cheers,
Randy

P.S. A couple of other issues with the Clikits colors are the fact that there
are two shades of Trans-Purple which are not distinguished (this color difference
bleeds into other areas of the catalog, such as part 30374), and there are some
pink parts that are not distinguished (I believe it is known as Flamingo Pink).

Trans-Light Yellow is probably the best option.

Agreed.

so a name with "Clikits" in it is most likely also a non-starter (even though

It might prevent some sellers to list regular parts as Trans-Light Yellow, but
an update (with photos) to the color help file could help there.

  (4) The fact that it fluoresces is not apparent just by looking at the color,
so I would stray away from anything with "Neon" in the name.

These items were moved form Trans-Yellow to Trans-Neon Yellow because they are
fluorescent. That is why I mentioned it. I agree that it is not apparent by looking
at the parts.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/111441268@N03/15777638842/in/album-72157646588122344/

Fire Yellow is grouped with Bright Yellow into BrickLink's Yellow.
I propose NO CHANGE.

Light Purple is grouped with Flamingo Pink into BrickLink's Bright Pink.
(Flamingo Pink is used for parts clikits141, clikits135, clikits135pb01, clikits100pb04)
The color is clearly different from Bright Pink. Flamingo Pink was only used
for a few parts, and there are no parts that are available in both colors. Keeping
this grouping as it is could be ACCEPTABLE.

Transparent Fluorescent Blue and Transparent Light Royal Blue (used in Clikits)
are grouped into BrickLink's Trans-Medium Blue. I propose NO CHANGE.

Transparent Bright Bluish Violet and Transparent Bright Reddish Lilac are grouped
into BrickLink's Trans-Purple. If I remember correctly, I have clikits007
in both colors. These colors SHOULD BE SPLIT.

I didn't know about this one. I agree though. It looks like yellow, so yellow
it will stay.

I would like to see this one broken out because it is markedly different and
unique. It was lower priority than the others I had added last year, but I hope
we can add it at a later time.

are grouped into BrickLink's Trans-Medium Blue. I propose NO CHANGE.

This one will not be separated out.

I agree here, also.

I agree here, also.

How hard will it be to get them sorted out?

Harder than some of the other ones.

I have just checked all my clikits parts. ALL trans-purple Clikits parts are
the Transparent Bright Reddish Lilac color, except clikits007. So we would only
have to check clikits007.

The color difference is pretty obvious in reality, but sadly not in the set images
in our catalog.

The glitter version also uses the (regular) bluish version. That does not have
to be changed.

I think all Transparent Bright Bluish Lilac stars came from set 7555-1

Thank you. We are getting ahead of ourselves, though, because the color project
is not being worked on right now. We will get back to this at a later time.

I know. But this was a good opportunity to discuss the issue.
I assume you are taking notes and this discussion will be here when we get
to that color project.

I don't think so. Randy detected the two colors of Trans-purple and 7554-1
has entirely eluded us in this project.

Sorry, 7555-1. I don't really remember the details and hopefully Randy took
notes. I remember him mentioning that there were two colors, but I think it
involves more than just stars from 7555-1.

I don't know how Randy knows about both colors. I have mentioned them as
a "catalog color problem" before.

I have searched for the different Clikits colors years ago, when I joined Pikachu3
on the project of finding out about the LEGO colors. I have not found more Transparent
Bright BLUISH Lilac parts (in reality and in online databases), but that is no
guarantee that they do not exist.

I can say with certainty that Transparent Bright BLUISH Lilac is rare in Clikits,
while Transparent Bright REDDISH Lilac is common. In LEGO System sets, it is
the opposite (only one part known).

I learned about them while working with all the Clikits parts. I noticed that
most of the Trans-Purple Clikits parts did not match the modern Trans-Purple.

I only checked my icons. I did not check my flexy film / Clikits, Icon Accent.
There could be more Bluish parts there...

Fire Yellow is grouped with Bright Yellow into BrickLink's Yellow.
I propose NO CHANGE.

I didn't know about this one. I agree though. It looks like yellow, so yellow
it will stay.

I would like to see this one broken out because it is markedly different and
unique. It was lower priority than the others I had added last year, but I hope
we can add it at a later time.

Transparent Fluorescent Blue and Transparent Light Royal Blue (used in Clikits)
are grouped into BrickLink's Trans-Medium Blue. I propose NO CHANGE.

This one will not be separated out.

Transparent Bright Bluish Violet and Transparent Bright Reddish Lilac are grouped
into BrickLink's Trans-Purple. If I remember correctly, I have clikits007

I agree here, also.

BrickLink has a tradition of grouping colors. In some cases, that is no problem
(Bright Yellow and Fire Yellow). In some cases the group should be split.

For this, my personal priorities are:

1) Groups where parts have been made in both colors
These should be split.

2) Colors that look different, but have no overlap in the parts that were made.
For these, I would prefer a split but maintaining the group could be an acceptable
compromise.

3) Colors that are difficult to separate (for example dark pink, or yellow).
In a purist catalog, those should be split. In a catalog aimed at practical use
and sale, they should remain grouped. The grouping should be mentioned in the
color help file though.

Hey guys,

As the second largest variety in clikits store i want to share my opinion on
this tread:

When i add clikits to my inventory i do my very very best to mark the colors
as good as possible. But as said the yellow and sometimes purple (and sometimes
blue too) give problems. BUT i have never had any complaint about the color from
any buyer that has bought clikits from me.

I do think it sucks really bad that i know have to check ALL my yellow entries
to see what has changed and to adjust my inventory....
but i will just do it. If you have a few part just put them in as what you think
is closest. It does not really matter if the color description is perfect. A
buyer that really wants to know and is in to it will message you to ask anyways.

Just my toughts!

Regards Marielle
