On the day of May 18th, I had a record of 16 orders in one day. I proceeded to
go to the post office to deliver the packages so they would go to their destination
in a timely order. I dropped the packages in the "drive-through" outside the
post office and continued on with my day. I thought everything was fine until
I got many messages today asking why their order was not shipped. I was obviously
quite confused because I shipped them all the same day. I checked all the tracking
numbers of all the packages I shipped on that day and all said they were in pre-shipment.
I was quite puzzled at that point because I knew on God that I shipped them.
All 16 are missing and I have no clue what to do. Is there any advice you guys
can give me or my next steps to take? I have already contacted all my buyers
about the situation but I do not know where to go from there. I have no proof
that I shipped them because USPS never scanned the packages into their system.
How do I get the packages back or the shipping? I feel helpless and need some
advice. Thank you so much!

I think that is what I am going to do, I might just go down there myself as I
find people are more likely to help you face to face, with proper PPE of course.

Okay I will try to but during this whole pandemic I have had no problems with

I recently had an incoming bubble mailer scanned as out for delivery, it was
not updated until exactly 1 week later and delivered. My mail carrier told me
that Detroit MI facility has thousands of packages backed up at the sorting center
due to people off work because of the pandemic. I am sure Detroit is not the
only one with issues.

I would call your local post office and ask what happened. Exactly what is this
drive thru? Is it just a box drop off? It could be as simple as they all went
into a box and the box got "lost" somewhere. I avoided selling for a couple of
months to avoid going into the post office. I like to have my packages scanned.
One postal worker wears his mask even though I know he doesn't like it.Yesterday,
I got the idiot that didn't think he has to wear a mask. It just sucked.
Of course the Plexiglas shields are a joke.

It doesn't sound like a USPS issue as much as it is an issue with your local
branch.
It just might be that they didn't scan it yet in the local office, some branches
take a while to scan (couple business days) before forwarding to the next sorting
facility.
These days, some facilities have to be sanitized which halts activity for a couple
days. and another effect of the times is that the USPS is seeing a huge surge
in activity which also slows down services.
You should google the phone number for the branch you left the packages at rather
than the general USPS customer service, before you call on tuesday, look up your
tracking numbers again, some of them operate on sundays.
We actually have our mail carrier pick up our packages on their daily route-
you can schedule a pickup online for everyday up to a year out.
These days, our carrier calls or texts us when they are 5 houses away and we
leave the buckets on our front porch, they pick it up and provide empty buckets
to replace the full ones we gave them- it eliminates the direct contact during
covid days, we've yet to lose a package.
I'm actually optimistic for you that it's just a delay and not a loss,
i'd be more concerned if one package didn't show activity and the rest
were scanned.

I think I will do that with the local branch instead of the national number.
I will keep checking the numbers over the weekend and I will try to be an optimist.
I see your point with the scheduled pickups, I used to just drop them in my personal
mailbox but once I reached 10 orders a day I could see her getting annoyed and

Try to get in contact with the postal service or fill out a missing mail request,
which can be found at missingmail.usps.com. In the future, I recommend going
into the post office and asking for a receipt, which will both provide proof
of shipment and ensure that your packages are promptly scanned into the system.

Try to get in contact with the postal service or fill out a missing mail request,

I will definitely do this in the future, it used to be the classic, "this will
never happen to me" but now that it has I definitely will. I just git lazy leaving
it outside.

Maybe, but the very large post office near me refused to scan packages, said
that pre-paid must go into drop box. Specifically "I can't take those from
you".

Sixteen packages going all rogue in one day is kinda odd. I could see a couple
of packages not being scanned, but all sixteen? I drop mine in the "blue box"
in my neighborhood daily and sometimes they dont get scanned until they reach
their destination office. Keep in mind that there may and will be delays during
this time as staffing shortages may happen.

A couple of questions:

What time did you drop off the packages?
What time was the cutoff for processing?

Like the others, I suggest calling the post office on Tuesday and ask them what
may have happened to that particular drops mail. Continue to check the tracking
over the weekend. To give you an idea of the delays: I sent a package via Priority
Mail that should have taken 2 to 3 days. It took the Post Office ELEVEN days
to deliver it. The customer and I were concerned, but it eventually showed up.
Keep us informed.

USPS has statements on their website that all mail delivery (packages ) are delayed
due to COVID-19 and the lack of transportation / mail carriers. As it's only
been 5 days and today is part of a holiday weekend, I wouldn't worry too
much until perhaps a week from when you mailed them. As others have said, either
take it to the window to get a receipt or drop it in a package slot INSIDE
the post office. I do this all the time and they do get sent out, and scanned
somewhere along the way. Pre-Shipment is somewhat of the new normal as many packages
are not being scanned until delivery . It's likely that the mailbox you put
them in was not emptied on it's regular basis - you could call the post office
and ask how often they do it.
I've had priority 3 day mail packages take up to a week to get from east
to west coast. First Class mail packages take anywhere from 4-10 days now.
I'd reassure your buyers that you mailed them, explain that the USPS is having
massive delays due to COVID-19 and ask them to contact you next week (you might
remind them that Monday is a federal holiday and there is no mail).

here where our newest PO is the hub for the area. Too many employees for that
practice

She gets extra attention from me, they are getting hammered daily with stay at
home orders and everyone ordering online currently. Her van is packed to the
gills daily, so everyone please be nice and respectful to your route carrier.

I would just say this is why I never drop off packages without seeing them get
scanned and get my physical receipt.

Some post offices will do a "scan acceptance" receipt if you ask nicely. I've
never tried it with 16 packages but if you are using Paypal multi-order shipping,
you can print a scan acceptance sheet and then the post office only has to scan
the 1 piece of paper and all tracking numbers are "scanned accepted".
I believe when you say "drive-through" you are talking about a drop off package
mailbox - perhaps in the parking lot of the post office? We have one too but
I always take my packages INSIDE and put them in the package drop slot - never
had a problem at all with this method or my local mailman picks them up in my
mailbox - scans them and they go out.
Again, the whole system is severely impacted by COVID-19 and heavily understaffed,
causing all sorts of delays, never mind lack of transportation to get to the

similar: the label was apparently printed two weeks ago but USPS tracking suggest
the package hasn't been dropped off yet. Except in my case, the seller isn't
communicating at all.

Hi, you can open a case with USPS to try to find your package if you receive
confirmation it was actually shipped.https://www.usps.com/help/missing-mail.htm
Sometimes if you escalate the case to the customer service / USPS help, it can
kick the package and move it along.

Recently I had a package which took 12 days to go from my house in Massachusetts
to Indiana - it was finally delivered yesterday. I requested updates on the tracking
and somehow that kicked it out of "pre-shipment" to get it to Indiana with no
other tracking along the way. The USPS system is completely messed up - packages
I get acceptance scans on get tracked at every point; and those I drop in mail
slot at the post office (no acceptance scan) take 3 days to leave the building
. It's insane these days.

I respond to emails from buyers within 24- 48 hours but I am aware that my response
times may be a bit quicker than most. However, no response from a seller within
3-5 days is ridiculous, much less 2 weeks. I will say that most messages I get
from buyers land in my email spam folder but I always see them in Bricklink (in
MyBL) with a yellow alert . So either they are not checking in to BL or have
missed the messages in their spam folder.

Your other option is to start a NSS case (non-shipping seller) which will get
their attention to your messages. Not the most ideal way to get an answer but
it is last resort and I am so sorry you are having this problem. Also if you
paid with PP, you can open a case for items not received and get a refund.
