Usually I get about 4-6 orders in an average extended (=Saturday-Tuesday) AFOL
weekend.

Tuesday is not over for me yet, but so far I received 24 orders in my small 80k
shop. Is this the result of XP?

In fact, I can hardly manage this amount of orders since I'm having a full
time job. Today I had a day off and I started packing orders at 7:15 AM and I
was still busy at 15:30. Between 7:15 and 15:30 I received 4 new orders.

Does this sound like a complaint?
Well, yes and no. Yes because I welcome the income - it's a hard time right
now with COVID-19. But No because I don't like that all my wished-for free
time evaporates by packing bricks...

Are you in the same boat? What do you do to make it manageable?

Shut down your store for a few days to catch up. That's what I do.

I'll take some. I just reopened and it's been quit so far and I'm
not in the XP. I was gone for a month and everything changes!

Anyway, good luck!

I don't know what happened but I went from one or two orders a week to 15
in a 4 day span and our shops are about the same size. Thankfully most of those
orders were for sets so I didn't need to spend a lot of time picking parts
orders. I think people are buying more lego (and puzzles) and when stores are
sold out, they check the aftermarket and find Bricklink.

Something is definitely happening; as I had a similar experience last week...

My store had been closed until last week for almost two months (my choice, due
to COVID-19); before it closed, I was averaging ~4-7 orders a day... after I
opened last week, I received 76 orders in less than 72 hours (no doubt, a record
number for me)... & like you, I work a full-time job, so I shut the store down
again so I could have at least a little free time during the weekend after sorting
and packing orders... thankfully, I was able to catch up pretty quickly and get
everything shipped in the timeframes I usually do; but I'd definitely be
swamped if I had kept the store open longer... though I am going to try again
by opening again tomorrow, so we'll see if it continues...

I agree, it's a good 'problem' to have... and I am in no way complaining
about it; just confirming that I have had a similarly unusual experience recently.

I guess it can be viewed as one of those good news-bad news kind of things. I
see it completely as the former, though

I simply close briefly, as I've done here for years, for a host of reasons:
Higher than normal order rates. Getaways with the family. If someone in my
life needs my full attention. Other business requirements. Inventory QC. Scheduled
site updates, etc, etc, etc.

I just shut down myself, I have a ton of in store projects to get done before
the governor lets us re-open and it's been crazy. It's great money but
a bit overwhelming and really can't catch a breath as the only one working
it. I am telling folks if they are looking for set sales to just message me,
they are quick and easy, it's the monster parts orders and that seems to
be every order!!

Your unique set of circumstances, having a brick'n mortar store in addition
to online stores, has gotta be interesting in these times, to say the least

Close store or raise prices.

I find when I get a run of orders of sets that I can often run out of packaging.
For parts orders it is rarely a problem, but it only takes a few larger set orders
for all my bigger boxes to go. Still, it is a nice problem to have.

I doubt it was XP unless they are both new users and sets. I imagine most existing
users would continue to use BL classic.

I'm pretty sure Covid-19 has increased demand because more people are at
home bored, but it has also apparently decreased supply because a lot of stores
have shut down because of it.

Maybe you’re right here. A significant number of those orders were from Italy.
However I also had 2 orders from Denmark and I seldomly get orders from the homeland
of Lego.

I think it's about 2 things,

In Belgium en Netherlands there a TV Show, called "legomasters" , I think that
show inspires a lot of people to build, and since covid19, many people have a
lot more free time

I'm been running around like crazy since basically ever since LEGO bought
the site. Revenue up about 3-5x the previous year.

I actually had to stop sourcing almost entirely. I don't have time to list
it all anymore. I have about a 500 lb backlog right now.

I closed my store a number of times during this. It helped, but I would still
get orders when closed. So it doesn't turn off the faucet completely.

It OK to close. I have the hardest time mentally convincing myself its ok for
some reason.

And I'm the rude one here?
This topic is no sense. People blaming of getting money from orders. 0 respect.

Work take too much time? Then why have a store? Change store rules to higher
Minimun Buy / AVG-Qty or close it.

Otherwise: set AVG/Qty rule.

Ok, I'm now betting on language barrier here based on this reply.

Your reply to the OP was rude and I was defending her. Nothing more.

Martin

Yes, and I don't want to close either! Saturday 2PM to today I have had
almost 50 orders between the 2 platforms, hoping to catch up tonight.

As many others are reporting, I have been receiving an unprecedented number of
orders. I have been doing my best to keep up but closed my store 3 separate
times over the last couple weeks. As you mention, there is almost no free time
leftover. One day last week, I started packing orders at 10am and didn't
quit until 8pm, stopping only to eat or use the restroom. The main problem
for me is not having time to replenish inventory. Like many sellers, I have
a large Used parts backlog waiting to be sorted and added. But there is simply
no available time or energy currently to make any progress with it. And all
personal LEGO projects have been moved to the far end of the line. Just keep
trucking for now, as I'm sure it will slow down at some point as life starts
getting back to normal.

I am seeing a slight uptick in sales as well. Due to the whole COVID thing and
other complications I am way behind in uploading. I was afraid that my sales
would suffer, but they seem to be doing just fine.

One feature I wish sellers had was an order limit per day/week. I too work a
full time job and some days I won't have any orders and then the next have
way more than I can handle. If there ways a way to have the store automatically
shut itself off after 20 orders it would help. I can't always get to a computer
to shut it down in the middle of a work day.

It's been crazy for weeks. I manage to open for only 4-5 hours and have to
shut down, bombarded with orders. And the type I usually get are 100-300 lots,
which is mega time consuming. I don't like a backlog of more than 10-12 of
these, always afraid people will be expecting it ship fast. There is no fast
when you're swamped.

When the Corona virus stuff started, I didn't see any increase in orders.
When the LEGO Masters show concluded, I definitely saw an increase.

I had a huge uptick in orders Last month which I am definitely not complaining
about, this month has been a bit slower so far. But I am only sitting at about
51k in Parts at the moment, so Hopefully I will get more orders as I add more
parts. Like a lot of people were saying if you are having issues keeping up you
can always close down your store for a day or two to catch up. Or just send em
my way... LoL

I am sure in the current climate, and with the issue of covid19..I am certain
that if you message a customer to say of any delay , I am a buyer and I would
understand perfectly in this situation, a buyer would probably commend you for
even still getting an order to them regardless of a delay in posting at this
time.

Update.
Thanks for all replies. It's nice to see that sales are booming! Whether
it is COVID or Lego Masters or BL XP we will never know.

Anyway: I closed my shops this morning at 5:30 AM. In a couple of hours my backlog
was cleared and this afternoon I dropped the remaining 7 orders at a nearby gas
station. Zero open orders right now!

After that I watched Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Vet (he had his hair cut!
- now he really looks like me!) and enjoyed my day.

I just re-opened my shops on BL+BO.

Have a nice day,
Martin

I don't know about France, but over here just about any shop can open a collect/send
service for our Royal Mail.

My country is still a kingdom and King Alexander and his beautiful wife Queen
Maxima have about 80% support from the people. So I trust the royal mail, whether
it's transported by cars / horses / volunteers or whatever.

It’s not common in France, that’s why it’s a funny phrase

Closing a post office and making the local grocer / baker / “bar tabac” replace
it is seen as a sign your village is past all hope of resurrection.

I don’t really see the sequitur (neither HM nor HM handle the mail) but I trust
your trust
