To BrickLink users everywhere:

Today we would like to announce a new BrickLink program called the Community
Expert Program. This replaces the volunteer admin program which was in effect
up until the acquisition of the site in December.

Over the past several months, we have onboarded 18 members from the original
program into the new program. Each of them had to sign legal documents and accept
a new reward system which was significantly different than the one before. However,
the positions remain essentially the same in terms of duties and privileges.

And the onboarding process was just the first step. We have plans over the coming
months to develop the Community Expert Program and further tailor it to the needs
of the site. In addition to replenishing a few vacancies, we will also consider
adding new positions and tweaking some of the existing ones.

For a list of who is currently in the program, please see the admin page:

https://www.bricklink.com/memberAdmins.asp

We also have a recently updated Help Page which might answer some further questions:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=974

We would also like to take this opportunity to give a sincere word of thanks
to all those who have retired from the volunteer program over the years, especially
those who were still active at the time of the acquisition. There is an extension
link at the foot of the admin page for the Hall of Fame, where retired admins
are listed along with their dates of service.

Employees of the site have for a long time been listed together with volunteers
on the admin page, but with the new program we wanted to make a clear separation
between their roles, so a new location is being planned at the moment for public-facing
BrickLink staff members.

Thanks for the update again Russell !

The explanation of what the CEP in fact is, is not all clear to me on
the FAQ page. Maybe I am far off, but I expected something like this:

In the CEP the tasks of running BrickLink as a internetplatform are passed
onto several individuals (all members of the community!), all of whom enrolled
in the CEP. Together, along with the BrickLink employees they keep this site
up to date. There are several roles to be fullfilled. Please check the FAQ below.

A 'plan' must involve something like that doesn't? A reason why CEP
is here, what it encompasses, who are in the plan, how do you get into it, how
long will it endure, what are the rewards?
Some more clarifaction might be usefull to the non-CEP members

We can certainly add to the FAQs you see on the Help Page. But for now I'll
answer your questions here.

Strictly speaking, Community Experts do not help our BrickLink staff and are
not an extension of any effort to run the site. Instead, they represent and communicate
with the community and are active on behalf of community interests. They may
harness the energy of the community to complete projects that would have special
value to the community.

As to who are in the program, there are 18 individuals and they are listed on
the admin page:

https://www.bricklink.com/memberAdmins.asp

As to how to get appointed to a position, one can make themselves available (as
several people have done recently) or they can simply be active on the site in
an excellent way, to the degree that we observe their efforts.

We trust the Community Expert Program will last for a long time, but legally
speaking the site has no long term obligation to keep it going. We have considered
applying term limits to individual positions, but as of now, we do not believe
that is necessary or would even fit the character of the program.

As for the rewards, those are confidential and revealed only to those who participate
in the program. They have been tailored to the program and involve much more
than the fee waiver which had been given to certain admins in the past. As mentioned
in the FAQs, rewards for some members include payment for services rendered.

I was just wondering why I am not listed (this page https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1132
was translated by me 13 years ago)?

Thanks.

Hi Saso,

This is the third case where we've found a person who had previously served
whose name was not added to the Hall of Fame. Could you let us know the dates
of your service?

For any other former admins out there who notice an error or omission in our
Hall of Fame, whether it involves your account or someone else's, please
bring this to our attention and we'll have it fixed. We want this page to
be as complete and accurate as possibile.

For current and retired admins who also served in other positions, your username
should be listed under each of the positions you held.

I will go thru (search) my emails. I exchanged some emails with Dan Jezek back
then. If emails are still there I will find them (I am using hotmail which had
2MB limit back in the old days...so they might be gone).
I will send you an email... just need a day or two.

Thanks.
