Hi Bricklink people
I'm tired of emailing Zero Feedback buyers who make a purchase, get invoiced
and then dead silence, no email replies. No payment, nothing.
Why can't Bricklink charge a flat $5 or $10 to open an account. Then if
the first purchase isn't paid, the Bricklink account can pay the seller the
$5 for the time wasted on this newbie.
ANY IDEAS ???

Maybe if there were a way to enable instant checkout, but only for buyers with
feedback of zero or lower?

^^ This.

Haven't had a single NPB since I set up instant checkout. No more invoicing,
no more waiting. Order received and paid - ship order.

Totally agree!

Implementing instant checkout has pretty much done away with all the first time
NPB buyers we received in the past and it has made everything so much easier.

ANY IDEAS ???

I can't remember the last time I had this type of issue.

Couple things...

1) Use Instant Checkout - it is AMAZING. Other people have posted this solution
already. I know you are working with Canadian Post and I work with USPS, but
I assume they are similar in some regards and this can be utilized to your benefit.
We have zones here in the USA and it still works just fine.
2) Read your own Terms - Do they look inviting? Use the KISS formula here for
everything.
3) Does your Splash Page and Term Page Match...Hint, they don't at the moment.
I would SCRATCH your "splash" page entirely as it doesn't provide any benefit
over your terms.
4) Have your TERM page be the 1st page that loads for buyers to see 1st. This
gives them an opportunity to read how to shop at your shop vs shopping and not
knowing "terms" exist.

So, complain all you want about 0 feedback buyers or any NPB, but if the rest
of us are not having any issues at all, then possibly you may need to re-examine
your own terms and processes to reduce the amount of issues with buyers across
the board.

I'm only trying to help. Best of luck

Instant checkout. Problem solved. A fee to open an account: No point. For what.

Oh man

From your terms you only look at these orders and issue an invoice. You do not
actually pack or weigh or measure or even get excited. You just look and issue
an invoice. For this you want to charge new buyers in effect $5 - $10 if they,
for whatever reason, cannot proceed? Now if I could get $5 for just looking at
an order... How do you wish for this to be administered even - its fine if the
new buyer only does this to one store, but what if there are multiple stores
- do you all share the loot? I've had loads of zero FB buyers all no issues
even with manual invoices.

If you do want to waste your time on buyers do not sell. All buyers and sellers
were new users on here once, even you. All new buyers and sellers make mistakes
and can probably be forgiven for it. If it is too much work for you to issue
an invoice can I suggest that you try IC? That way you actually do not really
do anything until the order is paid, much like you are doing now but you save
a few minutes on issuing the invoice. Also, enable the quote button. That way
you do not have to invoice. You are still going to work for a useless quote,
but at least that will fill the time.

Can I give you an even better suggestion? Petition BL to make a list of sellers
who, like you, do not wish to waste their time on new buyers. Then, when buyers
register, they automatically have their stoplist filled with every seller who
do not wish to sell to them. For this you as the seller then pay BL an admin
fee of $5-$10 for every new buyer so registered. BL will get money, you do not
waste time, I'll get more buyers. Everybody wins.

1. Everyone has to start somewhere.

2. Some people start at zero FB, over and over and over and …

3. If you enable IC, and do not leave any way for a buyer to place an order without
payment, you will no longer have this problem. The longer you do not go 100%
IC, the more problem kids will flock to your store, as they have fewer and fewer
places to cause trouble.

Go to Settings / Management in your store set up.

Look for the setting called Seller Protection.

Set this to enabled.

Since you do not have instant check out enabled, this should effectively prevent
new buyers from shopping at your store.

New buyers are defined as anyone whose account is less than 100 days old, or
with a feedback score of 5 or less.
