This item is very rare. I bought it with box opened, described USED. Since 4
years ago, I had seen it only one more time for sale, also coming with black
battery wagon and black roof, described new.

Since the only 4.5v trains between 1977-1980 were

Set No: 183 Name: Complete Train Set with Motor and Signal
*
183-1 (Inv) Complete Train Set with Motor and Signal
183 Parts, 1976
Sets: Train: 4.5V
and

Set No: 182 Name: Train Set with Signal
*
182-1 (Inv) Train Set with Signal
354 Parts, 1975
Sets: Train: 4.5V
we can assume it only came with black battery wagon and black roof.

How do you account for the fact that this inventory was confirmed correct from
sealed set contents twice, each time by a highly reliable member?

Hi

This set was sold as MIB (nov. 2016). This set came in a 12V lot I bought in
2011.
This boxes were not sealed at that time (as we have for now).
So it was easy to open and look inside.

We have:
- Blue roof
- Red battery wagon
- Black bottom with the blue and red magnets
- Red wheels

I acquired one of these supplementary 1106 sets as a child through relatives
living in the UK. It was red with a blue roof. I remember the colors distinctly
because the red was so different from the black version I was replacing in this
set:

Set No: 183 Name: Complete Train Set with Motor and Signal
*
183-1 (Inv) Complete Train Set with Motor and Signal
183 Parts, 1976
Sets: Train: 4.5V

Thanks for the input.
I still think there is a good chance that TLG sold the black wagons in this service
pack in later productions (and the leftover red one in earlier productions).
I have seen this black battery wagon (without the sticker "182" or the one for
set 183-1) many times in spare lots in which there were no trace of 182-1 or
183-1. So were did those single battery wagons come from?
The set 181-1 was in the market until 1975, so was the service pack
S-32
which is not in the catalog yet. These early service packs did not have a special
packaging and number, like 1106-1:
https://images.brickset.com/library/Catalogues/c75uk.pdf

I checked the UK catalogs. I did not find 1106-1 but only S32 or Sp.6. Do
you recall the packaging? Was it like the packaging of 1134-1?
I have seen 1106-1 four times so far, and only in Germany and Belgium.

So far, I could not find 1106-1 in any catalog! Any input is welcomed

Yes, that was that catalog I ordered from:

Catalog No: c80uk Name: 1980 Medium UK (99870-UK)
*
c80uk 1980 Medium UK (99870-UK)
Catalogs: 1980
A year earlier and I would have ordered:

Set No: 16 Name: Length of Chain Links
*
16-3 (Inv) Length of Chain Links
25 Parts, 1977
Sets: Service Packs
A year later and this would not have been available (which I ordered along with):

Set No: 1114 Name: Motor Frame
*
1114-1 (Inv) Motor Frame
1 Part, 1977
Sets: Service Packs

Then there is one extra possibility to be added: this service pack 1106-1 was
in market only for one year 1980. Between 1979, black or red battery wagons was
sold with numbers S32 and Sp.6.

Then why the year of release of 1106-1 (and many other service packs) is 1977
on BL?

By the way, this request should be rejected for now.
