This set predates the intruduction of 2453b and cannot be built with the solid stud version. So 2453a must have been included in this set.

See attached image of the instructions where the bottom pin of a 1x2 plate must
be inserted into the hollow stud of a 1x1x5 brick that cannot work with 2453b
