I just noticed that my Ninja - Samurai, Red Young has a white headband instead
of the usual gray one. Is this a catalog error or a misprint?

Most likely a misprint (but a good one!), as both the Peeron inventory and a
Eurobricks review show the standard grey headband print:

I wonder if it's from one of the TrU reissue minifig packs.

If it is from a reissue, it would have to be from the 2012 Vintage Minifig
set, since I cannot find any pictures/reviews/etc of it.

Set No: 5000438 Name: Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 2 - 2012 Edition
*
5000438-1 (Inv) Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 2 - 2012 Edition
5 Minifigures, 2012
Sets: Collectible Minifigures: (Other)
That said, since OP only just noticed the difference in printing, it is
probably a misprint, as (cas210) has not been reissued.

This was exactly my first thought as well. The printing fidelity on the one with
the white headband seems much too good for a minifigure made in 2000. Compare
it with the print on the other one, which looks very much like the printing fidelity
of that era. I would not be surprised if

Minifig No: cas050new Name: Ninja - Red (Reissue)
*
cas050new (Inv) Ninja - Red (Reissue)
Minifigures: Ninja
was inventoried with a head that wasn't properly compared to the one from
2000.

Cheers,
Randy

You are correct about the quality of the printing, so perhaps it is from
the 2012 version of the reissue?
It is most likely not the case that the inventory of (cas050new) is incorrect,
as I have seen multiple reviews of the set - all of which show (cas050new) with
a grey headband.

This just occurred to me: Since (cas050new) was released in 2009, the head would
be a new element, as the headband would be printed in Dark Bluish Gray,
rather than the old Dark Gray. I do not have this set/Minifig, so I cannot verify
for myself, but screenshots from a video review of the set seem to show a DBG-coloured
headband print.

I just noticed that my White Ninja Princess (cas058), from the Vintage Minifigure
Collection (852769), has grey headband, rather than a White one, and Dark Red
lips and circle, rather than Red ones. Additionally, the heads on the (alas,
glued) Bricktober magnets (2856223) have the same grey headband, but with the
proper Red lips and circle.
Has anyone else seen these variations? If so, the head(s) need Catalog entries,
and the Minifig in (852769) should be designated as a Reissue (cas058new), as
was done with (cas050new).

Which ones actually have a white headband? Not the vintage Ninja Princess, but
it does have an old-grey headband while the VMC version probably has a bley headband.

If the minifig is glued, I expect any new catalog entry will be marked as something
that can't be inventoried, which means that any component parts will probably
not be cataloged.

Per the Catalog, the original Ninja Princess has a “Gray” headband that looks
White. I do not have the Minifig, so I cannot see what the head looks like in-hand.
The old headband is, at most, Light Gray, but the rereleased version is
clearly Dark Bley.

The VMC Minifig (with the Dark Bley headband and Dark Red circle and lips) is
not glued, and the headwrap, head, arms, and hands (as well as the tile) on the
magnet, are removable.
