Comments from Submitter:
People sometimes ask me how I have time to mess around with old Duplo inventories. The truth is that Hygrotus does pretty much all of the work of verifying inventories and approving change requests. I simply rest on my laurels and occasionally glance at the odd inventory (like this one) to make it look like I'm working.

For this set, the only change I'm not reasonably confident in is the open/closed hitch change. However, this set was more likely to include the open hitch end and the original inventory source regarding this part was quite likely only a guess anyway because none of the pictures on any side of the set box make it clear. All the used sets I've seen for sale included the open hitch.

I'm not sure where these changes will leave the part count, but I'll add a second post with that information and also some photos.

By my count approving the changes would make the BL count 61, but my math may
be off. The parts list on the set box shows 62 parts, so I'll need to go
over it again once the changes are approved.

The first photo is the parts list. The second is a close-up of the original
1991 set bucket label showing the animals included in the set. They were all
the newer style with black/white eyes. As with other changes for this set, this
has also been seen in used copies of the set.

Checking the photo of the back of the box for an inventory change is kind of
cheating! You may try to find photos of a sealed copy
or travel to the past and speak with a manager of TLG!

If 1980s train sets came with these handy guides, then you'd be doing it,
too.

I'm merely going after the low hanging fruit while you seem to have a fondness
for Sisyphean tasks.

Found it. There was a red 2 x 6 brick shown on the parts list which did not
appear in the inventory. I added it directly and now the part count matches
the part count printed on the label.

Isn't there always a possibility that the set image would show an incorrect
version of a part that was not actually packed in the set itself?

Of course. However, for this set the source of the inventory was Set Box/Picture
and the inventory was completed in the spring of 2007 by Admin. Many of the
inventories from around this time by this submitter have been shown to be incorrect
in various ways.

Yes, my changes are based on guesswork, too. However, my guesswork has a bit
more evidence and I'll wager that this set inventory is now more accurate
than it was yesterday.

Sounds like a good explanation to me.
