But please note that this part isn't exactly 3241c, because there are two
types of 3241c which Bricklink doesn't differ.
The picture shows the (very rare) version of 3241c+ with additional with plastic
reinforcements under the connecting metal pins.
The normal version 3241c without these reinforcements is NOT approprioate for
7735 and 7745. So, at first Bl should introduce the new part.
you are right, but I cannot keep track of 1000 things to be done in the right
order. It is very hard to manage all these changes for about 50 sets.
I am going to first fix what can be fixed easily. Those things that are easier
to handle and doesn't affect other sets (or only a couple of sets).
In the way you say, or stormchaser asked me, I won't be able to do anything.
For example, for my last 2 requests for 7735, I found a reliable source who has
this set since his childhood and kept it in the box in its original condition.
It is now to ask him to comment on this request, not 3 months

Unfortunately, I don't own a 3241c+. It is hard to find, because it was only
produced in 1985. And BL doesn't distinct between the two types, it is difficult
to selective find and buy one.
But I can provide pictures that show the differences in general:

Types 1 and 2 were produced from 1980 to 1984, types 3 and 4 from 1985 to 1990.
Types 3 and 4 have the additonal plastic supports under the contacts.
From the top, they can also be recognized, because the metal bars have visible
holes.

Hi
There are more differences about all 12V tracks... I will make a list what I
found in a 12V lot I bought a few years ago. With or without partn°, Lego-logo
on and print, mould n°

Is there any functional difference between these parts?
As a collector of 2x4 bricks I completely understand the interest in the small
details, but I do not know if all should have separate catalog entries here.
This catalog has to maintain a delicate balance between the needs of sellers
and buyers with very different interests, and as detail-oriented collectors we
sometimes have to restrain ourselves a bit.
Something like the alternate large image for part 2547 might be a more suitable
approach:
Well, the plastic supports under the contacts improve the handling and quality
of the electric connections. Therefore I would say "yes", there is a functional
difference.
Do you have also any photo for variants of remote controls?

In what sense it is not appropriate? do you mean 7735 didn't come with 3241c
but only with 3241c+?
By the way, I am not sure BL accept to split 3241c.
Yes Reza, I am quite sure that both 7735 and 7745 came only with 3241c+.
If BL accept to split 3241c, they also have to split 3241 and 3241b, as shown
in the pictures provided by CrazyChris.

After reading the discussion with other members in this thread, I see that there
appears to be disagreement concerning these parts. Are you still confident in
these requests?
After reading the discussion of other members, I am not sure what you concluded.
We can see clearly 3241c in the photo.
CrazyChris says that we may want to add another item to the catalog and split
3241c further. He call the new item 3241c+. (have you checked his excel file?)
I am not sure at all that bricklink will accept this split. I imagine the catalog
administrative won't accept.
See the differencce between them here in the photo of elias3
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1078535
So based on what we have, yes we should add 3241c to 7735 (and even to 7745).
It came with these sets for all releases of all 12V trains that comes with track
including 7735 and 7745 until 1986 when the new variant 2731a was released.
This is an old discussion of interference-free for set 7740

I concluded that there was disagreement regarding these changes. CrazyChris
says:
The normal version 3241c without these reinforcements is NOT approprioate for
7735 and 7745. So, at first Bl should introduce the new part.
In other words, he does not support the change and feels strongly about it.
He believes the parts should be split before any changes are made.
Member lego.12vtrains says:
I strongly support CrazyChris point of view!
This is the second member who does not support adding the current 3241c catalog
entry to the set and feels strongly about it.
Therefore, I suggest that the alternate part which isn't in the catalog yet
is submitted to the catalog to see if it will be approved. Once a decision is
made on the alternate part, then we can revisit which rail versions should be
included in this set. For now, however, these requests were not approved.

Hi
in all those years I have never considered that there is a difference here between
3241c and c+ till now but is it needed to split them?
If yes then we need to split a lot of more tracks...
in all those years I have never considered that there is a difference here between
3241c and c+ till now but is it needed to split them?
Stefaan
Well, please let me explain my opinion.
Part 3241c (without "+") is rather common, it has been used for the sets 7725,
7727, 7730 and 7740 for about 3 or 4 years (from 1981 or 1982 until 1984).
Part 3241c+ is rather rare, because it was used only for 1 year in only two sets
7735 and 7745. From 1986, parts 2371a and/or 2731b were used.
So, adding part 3241c adding to 7735 and 7745 feels totally wrong to me. Because
in most cases, people might consider that the first version of 3241c should be
used for 7735 and 7745, which is absolutely incorrect.
But right now, if someone has a 7735 or 7745 set from 1985 which comes with 3241c+,
bricklink inventory tells him that his is set is incorrect or incomplete, because
2731a/b is missing.
So, splitting up that the part 3241c into two versions is imho the best way to
get correct inventories subsequently.
If yes then we need to split a lot of more tracks...
That's true.
My approach would have been
step #1 add all missing part variants to BL database
step #2 identify all sets that are affected by those parts (that's what my
Excel file does)
step #3 change the BL inventories of the affected sets in one non-interruptable
action, to ensure consistency among all affected sets. Afaik, such action can
only performed by ad admin.
That would have been an efficient and time-effective approach to get correct
inventories, within only a few days (or maybe weeks).
Nut now, we have lots of single ICRs, lots of discussion, lots of misunderstanding.
I bet the invs will not be correct (and free of inconsistencies) before year
2020.
Useless to request to add a new item. I have many requests pending for 6 weeks
there. They don't reply my messages neither.
For now, I do not support to add the new variant. I am not yet convinced this
should be done.
If we decide to do so, then we have to split the conducting rails in 4 subcategories
too. Many changes would follow for the same reason.
I wanted to discuss these things as the last step in correcting inventories of
12v trains. The way the inventories of 7735 and 7745 are right now, can cause
problems between buyers and sellers. I guess about 30% of 7735 and 7745 comes
with 3241c not 2731a.
If you hesitate to split bb12vb, this one is a baby difference between variants.
