I asked the following seller about the white windows:
https://www.ebay.it/itm/282816981090?ul_noapp=true

My email:
Helllo
I have a question for this train. There are two white small windows on the back
of white wagon. Do they have glasses?
And did you buy and own this set since your childhood?
there are different variations for this set, so I am hoping to find the right
one for myself.

Regards
***

His response:
Yes, the small windows have glasses.
The set is an attic find of my grandma
***

This gives an evidence that the window ALSO came with glasses.
I own or see so far 5 windows without glasses.

Hopefully other collectors or sellers will comment on this request so that after
a while we know this should be accepted or not.

I would encourage you to NOT quote conversations between you and others in the
public forum. If somebody complains, your post will get canceled. Then we'll
have a hole in the inventory change log records.

Concerning these old windows, if some white ones had glass in 1980, then they
likely had glass throughout the 1970's. But as someone who grew up with Lego
during that time, it doesn't sound right. How do you know this seller isn't
pulling your leg? That thing about it being an "attic find of my grandma" is
something I've heard before.

I would encourage you to heed the advice of our Inventories Admin and not try
to get everything changed immediately. You are rushing a procedure that traditionally
has taken a considerable amount of patience.

Dear Admin,
You are right, I don't quote conversations any more even.

I am not sure he says the truth. But if I see 20 people claiming there is a window,
then I can consider it correct. However, if there is no glass, the seller risks
highly his money as if I buy it and then complain to Ebay and the seller lied
about the condition, then the seller has to refund or pay the shipping for return.

For 12V train motors, I am sure about what I requested. I also found a picture
of a sealed motor for 7725. The date indicated underneath the motor also proves
things.
If we split 12V train motors into 4 types (bb12Vb would split in to types), then
things get harder and I would need more time for investigation.

For this particular request for the window 27 , I tried to encourage people commenting
under this request so that things clear up. I fill being stock for longtime considering
these glasses. Seems nobody know about it. The problem is that one cannot even
see the glasses through images uploaded on Ebay and other websites. If there
is a better way to open a conversation for discussing about the inventory, please
let me know.

I would suggest personally contacting everyone you can find who seems knowledgeable
about older LEGO trains and setting up a discussion group, either here in the
forum or elsewhere online.

Some won't want to help you, but I'm sure some will. With all of you
working together on these inventories it shouldn't be difficult to put together
a solid list of the necessary changes for each set.

I asked the guy some photos. He said he was confused between the 1*2*1 and 1*2*2
windows. No glass! See photos attached
The yellow cones don't have axle, so this train was an early release.

Sorry, but I left this open for nearly two weeks and no one commented. You could
very well be right about this, but I don't feel like there's enough solid
evidence at this time to approve these requests.

Please resubmit them if more substantive evidence surfaces.

I have a large train selection and I've been following some of the train
posts with interest. However, my source for many of the pre-1990 train items
I have is unreliable. For many years a German Toy Shop owner had different train
displays in his window, and they all ended up in various stages of construction
on his second floor workshop table. When he closed the toy section of his shop(he
couldn't compete with ToysRUs prices), he offered them to me for a very low
price if I would clear off the table.

I haven't posted this 2008 picture of the layout from

Book No: 7777 Name: Idea Book 7777, Trains
*
7777 Idea Book 7777, Trains
Books: Idea Book: Train
for awhile.
I just wanted to say that sealed sets are nice, but having fun with the contents
is better.

So far, fortunately all my requests were correct. For most of them, I could find
one or several sealed sets.
Unfortunately, for train 7730, I have found only two sealed sets but their owner
or seller don't want to help me on this. I find this very disappointing.
I think, it is not too much to ask a brinklinker to take few photos of their
sealed sets as he uses this website to sell and buy Lego for many years.

Don't worry too much about these windows. Concentrate on the more important
aspects of the train inventories. One of these days we'll start in on the
early windows like we recently did with the small wheels. It's been a known
problem area for a long time.

Let me give you a report on all main issues I know:

I) 12v motors: I have requested to add another type to the inventory to split
bb12vb in two items. If (and hopefully) approved, two main works will be needed:
1 - for 7735 and 7745 released between 1985-90, I need to find sealed sets coming
with black motor type 4. This should be the case as the motor type 3 was replaced
with type 4 since early 1989.
2 - for 7730, I need to find a sealed set coming with red motor type 2
For the following cases, I do not yet know:
7725 comes with black motors type 2 and 3, but could had come with type 1 in
its earliest releases in January-August 1981.
7760 came with type 1 and 2 but could have come with type 3 in late 1982
7750 came with red motor type 1. I think it should have come with motor type
2 since second-half 1981 until end of 1982. But surprisingly, I have not found
any evidence. Don't know yet.

2) rare black train brick wheels (4180c01) that comes with red pin: the item
is requested to be added but not yet approved
The sets that were released in 1985 (until 1990) came at some point with these
rare wheels. It is known by 12v train fans that these rare version were used
by TLG because they ran out of black pins in certain period!
Those sets are
7735
7745
7813
7817
7823
7839

3) yellow cones for 7730: again an image of a sealed 7730 is missing. Finding
a sealed set coming with this rare version is even harder!

4) white windows 27ac01 on 7730

5 )There are parts with variations for sets such as 7860, 7861,... (accessories
for 12v trains). Crazychris knows them much better than me. It is a question
if there items should be added or not. Their functionality doesn't change,
but neither does some parts already split in many variations such as 4085b Plate,
Modified 1 x 1 with Clip Vertical.

6) other issues are minor, including adding or changing image for some parts
or boxes.

2) rare black train brick wheels (4180c01) that comes with red pin: the item
is requested to be added but not yet approved

this black train brick wheels with red pin where only sold in set 5070 .

Rohnny
not only that set but also in new runs around end 1985 came some sets with this
type wheels.
I got an 7745 with those wheels

Stefaan

6) other issues are minor, including adding or changing image for some parts
or boxes.
