On May 6, 2008, this part along with all other Metallic Gold parts in this set
was changed to Pearl Gold. But my torsos are definitely Metallic Gold while the
others are Pearl Gold (see picture below, I've added a metallic gold flag
from set 7041 for color comparison). Therefore I've made this request by
adding an alternate. But my thoughts are: Could this sets have been produced
in a version with Metallic Gold parts so that the original submitter's request
was actually right and all Pearl Gold parts should have Metallic Gold alternates,
not just the torso?
Best wishes,
Jan

None of those parts are "Metallic Gold". They are all "Pearl Gold". Why? Easy.
The BrickLink color "Metallic Gold" is used to classify parts that are molded
in another color (usually Tan), and then coated with a Metallic Gold layer of
paint. BrickLink "Pearl Gold" parts are molded in gold-colored plastic with no
painted surface layer. All of the parts you have in your image are made in the
LEGO color "Warm Gold", which BrickLink classifies as "Pearl Gold", and none
of them have a coating of paint.
However, there have been at least *three* variations of the "Warm Gold" color
made by LEGO over the years that are all distinctly different. In any case, these
color variations should not be lumped into different BrickLink colors just as
Dark Red or Dark Blue color variations are not spread across different BrickLink
colors.
FYI, a lot of the inventories around the time of the Indiana Jones sets have
errors in regard to the above information and need to be fixed once and for all.
It is on a list of things in the catalog that I knew needed fixing, but I just
never got around to it. And unfortunately, I won't be doing anything anymore
unless BrickLink completely changes the direction it is heading in.
Cheers,
Randy

Ok, thanks for the explanation. I've found this image:
https://images.brickset.com/colours/299.jpg
and I see now that my bricks are not of that color, although they're two
quite different Gold nuances as the image shows. Sorry for the misunderstading.
But I need to ask: I'm somewhat convinved that the flag belongs to set 7038
or 7041. The inventory says that the flags in those set are Metallic Gold. Could
that be an error, or could it be an alternate? I will not post inventory changes
as I can't be 100% sure that the flag belongs to one of those sets, but it
was found in a big lot with those two sets among the bricks, but there were no
Metallic Gold flags, only the Pearl Gold ones, and no sets with the Metallic
Gold versions of flag have been found in the lot. So I don't where where
else it could belong.
Best wishes,
Jan

Please ignore my last question. I just realized that the flag belongs to set
70400 which is a Pearl Gold version, and this set was also in the lot.
Let me instead ask another question: Why are the BrickLink images for the flag
in the Pearl Gold and Metallic Gold versions identical? Am I not supposed to
be able to spot a difference? This probably lead to my confusion.

The reason those images are the same is that the BrickLink administration (don't
know who) has been replacing thousands of images on the site willy-nilly over
the past couple of months due to some need to have all images be larger in size
instead of the thumbnails we used to have. Due to this, some very nice old images
have been replaced at a whim, and I myself have had almost 3000 images replaced
that I had spent hundreds of hours supplying to BrickLink. I have no doubt that
the Pearl Gold and Metallic Gold images were different looking before these updates.
As of now, the images are in no way helpful, and that is unfortunate.

Randy, I appreciate you taking the time to explain this. I will note this as
something to be looked into further.
Normann1974, I appreciate you bringing this up, but for right now the issue will
remain noted but unaddressed.
