We are happy to announce Easy Buy, a convenient new shopping tool for BrickLink buyers. It automatically fills carts so that you can purchase all of the items in a Stud.io Creation or Wanted List with just a few clicks. It finds a practical and optimal combination of BrickLink stores by comparing item prices and estimated shipping fees to minimize the total price of orders.

You may achieve the same results with the Wanted List Auto-Finder feature, but Easy Buy allows you to jump directly to the final step of the store finding process by skipping all the extra options to choose stores.

Using Easy Buy

You can use Easy Buy to purchase Stud.io Creations shared in the Build Gallery.

Just click [Easy Buy] button on any Gallery Creation and wait until it finds an optimal store combination. If you’re satisfied with the result, you can create all of the carts with just one click.

Easy Buy is also available for your Wanted List. Click the [Easy Buy] button next to each Wanted List from the Wanted List overview page to add all of the items in the Wanted List to store carts.

We hope this new tool will help you save your time and discover great local stores that can fulfill your orders.

Thanks,
BrickLink Team

I'd really like to fiddle around with this, but...just how easy is it? Is
there a step along the way I can stop before making a final purchase?

Can we get some examples on the shipping fees:
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2457
How does Easy Buy estimate shipping fees?
For both Easy Buy and Wanted List Auto-Finder, estimated shipping fees are calculated
based on the recent six-month average shipping price between seller and buyer
countries. Estimated shipping fees are used for calculation, but the fees are
not shown to members.

If fees are not shown to members, who are they shown to?

So, if the actual shipping fees are significantly different from the estimates
(based on 6-mo averages between all sellers and buyers of those countries), then
this tool is useless.

It’s said that it fills carts and that you still need to checkout for each store.
So you can stop by emptying the cart and not checking out.

To no one. They are use for computation, to select the stores.
So “free” shipping stores are screwed and “low prices but lots of fees”-stores
are (still) kings.

Excellent question! I don't want to pay for shipping from Europe...

I have this question too. Location of stores to search should absolutely be an
option for Easy Buy. I agree that options should be kept minimal for this function,
but location is a reasonable inclusion.

Wouldn't it have been more logical it implement instant checkout before Easy
Buy? That way buyers would know exactly what the cost of the orders are instead
of an estimate.

I foresee buyers getting disappointed when the cost to ship plus fees exceeds
the estimated cost and negative feedback being given to sellers as the total
cost exceeded the BrickLink estimate.

Agreed!

I think they've realised that the shipping cost tool is far more complicated
than envisioned so they're ploughing ahead with all the other site developments
with a goal to add-in the shipping cost tool when it becomes available.

I know it has been asked many times with no public acknowledgement or reply from
BL Admin, but folks are wondering how the tool would work without realistic part
dimensions in the database, and if they are indeed needed, why Admin doesn't
put out a public appeal to have these measurements added by the BL members? Surely
it would make sense to start that part of the work sooner, rather than later?

So basically, all other things being equal, returning to Easy Buy, this tool
will favour countries with lower-cost postal services over others. But how does
one limit the countries one wishes to buy from?

Miffy.

Buyers won’t see shipping estimates: They are only used to select the stores.

And fees don’t seem to enter into the computation at all.

So, sellers, time to lower your prices, and raise your fees and shipping.

I have tinkered with this system (from the wanted list) and find it lacking in
one regard. This is in comparison to the classic option of "by shop". I am
assuming that "Easy Buy" is the replacement for "by shop" considering the classic
option is going down in a month. The issue deals with having to actually fill
all of the carts before seeing any of the carts. This creates a lot of extra
time that seems to be unnecessary, compared to the old system. In short, we
need more control in the process of selecting items and stores in the "Easy Buy"
option. I get it, its easy, but not well suited for every situation.

I will give some concrete examples in the rest of the message, please stop reading
if you don't want more detail.

For example, I added some pieces and minifigs to my wanted list. I then clicked
the "Easy Buy" option. The system comes with an arrangement of stores that completes
my list (exact for the 1-2 items no has). This issue appears to be the way it
does this. For 11 items, I get 6 stores. I sometimes expect this with harder
to find items.

However, when I explored this further, I realize that Easy Buy is optimizing
this process by spreading the items across stores. Thus, Store Alpha only has
two items on my list (blaster and battle droid). Store Beta has four items (Yoda,
blaster, and 2x2 brick). The easy buy option tried to 'spread the buys'
equally across stores. Before you say, are you sure? I also added black 1x2
plates to my wanted list. They only showed up in one cart. Do you really think
that only one store in the six had black 1x2 plates? Oblviously thousands of
stores have this part.

I am willing to give "Easy Buy" a shot (probably have no choice), but please
give us some freedom in the process. I can foresee the "spread the buy" option
to be useful at times. People who are rebuilding old sets sometimes run into
this issue and "spreading the buy" makes sense. But, sometimes I want the store
that has 7 of the 11 items I am looking for. If that is Store Echo, then I want
to know quickly and be able to only interface with Store Echo. I don't want
to fill my cart with stuff from Store Alpha or Store Bravo to get to Store Echo
either. This feature was the brilliance of the classic "by shop" option. For
me to this now, I have fill all their carts, navigate back through their stores
to see my whole wanted list that they have in the store, and then compare. These
are steps that were not necessary in the classic "by shop" option and it seems
odd (backwards really) to take a step back with this new system.

Finally, we all have stores we avoid (lets say Store Omega). If I see Store
Omega appear in my "Easy Buy" list, don't make me fill my cart with their
stuff. I don't want to waste my time or my poor cart's wheel (joke).

So, to reiterate, give us some features to the "Easy Buy" process. I am sure
that some people may not care, but someone of us really rely on the flexibility
of the old system.

John P

If by over paying, you mean paying more than needed, then probably not if Buy
Wizard is anything to go by. The last lot of purchases I've tested against
what I'm doing with using the classic setup & if I used the Buy Wizard, I'd
be spending 20-25% more. That doesn't even take into account postage, as
it keeps listing mostly places that have the more expensive postage higher on
the list, even when there are stores that have cheaper postage (for me), cheaper
prices & higher stock levels.

This would be why people don't want the new setup & want to stick with the
old, it is of no benefit to the buyers & seemingly favours some stores.

But what about our store? We offer FREE U.S. Shipping on all orders over $10.
Does the algorithm use the average of OUR past shipping charges to each country,
or site wide averages?

Inquiring minds want to know. If the former, then I'm happy with the change.
If the latter, we're likely going to be left off of most people's lists.

The way it reads, your store will only show up if the combined cost of parts
in your store and the average of all shipping (6-mo av) from your country to
the buyer's country makes you look favourable. In other words, your store's
shipping rates only slightly affect the outcome. knowing this, sellers may raise
their shipping rates and hope that buyers trust the Easy Buy feature enough to
not questions the rates.

OOO_Shiny
Free U.S. Shipping

Miffy.

Or it can generate a list that has you buying from 34 stores across 15 different
countries. While the average per store works out to AU$11.36, there are a few
stores with well below that at amounts such as AU$0.34, while 5 of the 6 stores
local to me (Australia) are all showing purchase amounts of AU$0.00. Only 5 of
the stores are on my favourite stores list, but I know at least 3 of them not
showing up on Easy Buy have a good amount of the parts from this want list.

Looks very promising! Great work!
Do you have a separate forum for feature requests/bug reports btw?

This had better not be mandatory for sellers to accept. I have a clearly stated
lot limit for a reason.

You should be fine if you have that lot limit in your store settings - Management.

I second this request, weigh down or exclude "least favorite" stores.

The store overview should mention total quantity of parts and total unique parts.

A great feature to add to this would be a quantity drop-down. I want to purchase
multiple copies of my MOC.

This feature will select stores and then not order the minimum required amount
for those stores which doesn't make this "Easy" as then you have to go and
manual find a single store to get all the parts from.

Finally someone with the same problem. Thought I was the only one (yeah I know,
you are never the only one...). I think overall it is a nice feature. Unfortunately
I get at least one store which doesn't fit the minimum required amount roule
(min. lot or min. buy). And also I didn't find a way to shop only in stores
from a specifc region.
