| We need to add a new category to the sales process, i.e. Bricklinked/Not Original.
It would weed out false hits for those of us who only seek original sets!

you can add the category but if there is a price discreprency don't count
on many using it, furthermore some of them resell sets so no clue if those sets
are bricklinked either.

If someone has an original set, but lost a part and bricklinked it, does it become
“not original”?
If not, if it’s sold as original and the next owner lose a part and BL it?
How many parts need to be BLed for the set to become “not original”?
And will the next suggestion be “add percentage of BLed parts in the set”?

I see the idea here. I think they are more on the lines of like the people that
buy all the parts for a UCS MF. A couple parts is one thing, but an entire set
is another. And I also see why they would want something like this. Like on the
older sets. Even though its the same part its different. You can tell by looking
and touching the pieces. Something changed over the years. Like a different plastic
or mold or something. Hard to explain but you can tell on somethings especially
when comparing the same part from a old set (talking 90s-early 2000's vs
say 2010 forward).

Forgot to add this.
So if you have a bricklinked set and it has some of the old original parts and
some brand new parts and several different mold variations, it might look like
crap lol. Kinda like faded part next a new. Or used next to new. Or old grays
next to new blueish grays.

I was just doing my Heraclitus (a.k.a. showing off ). But the question is
still valid: what happens if you just BL the one part, taking care of color,
mold, even year of production (or even from another incomplete set (same set
number))?
Besides, I’ve seen several times on this forum sellers asking what to do with
an incomplete set who were answered to look into the cost of BL-ing it complete
to sell it better. There were also people just stating they would sell this or
that set once they’ll have finished BL-ing it.
I never saw anyone arguing against it.
So, is the “totally original” label only useful for some sets but not others
(say, Millenium Falcon or Cafe Corner)?

| Of course having a small amount of lost pieces does not make it brinklinked,
if you did purchase or get the exactly same pieces! We can agree that up to 5%
of bricklinked items can make it original, if colors and parts are respected.
If you change one piece with a different one, then by definition it is not original!
Same with complete and original without box or instructions should also not exist,
it's NOT complete! People do not use Custom sets and put them as complete,
no enforcement is done.

One thing that would help with this is to disallow a set that is missing instructions
from being considered complete. I just looked at the 4 cheapest NEW 10179's
and they are missing instructions, stickers, box. One even has stated that a
reproduction instruction book is included and is listed as Complete.

| New sets cannot be listed as complete, if they are missing instructions or stickers
(I cannot remember what I just read about the original box and completeness).
That is already in the guidelines. Whether or not it is enforced is beyond
my knowledge.

I was not just speaking about New sets. I do not consider any set complete when
missing instructions. I believe any I have missing instructions are listed as
Incomplete. I really think the New set category should be for 100% complete new
sets and none of the partial/incomplete sets.
