Through a recent survey, we found that many users struggled to even use the Wanted List and desired an easier way to find the best combination of stores for their more complex lists.
Therefore, we reworked the whole experience to make it easier to manage a list and designed a new buying experience that focuses on the necessity to compare and plan out multiple carts at once.
Read a summary of the updates below and check it out now here.

Better ways to add items

Send items to your Wanted List without ever leaving your current page. Look for the heart symbols across BrickLink to get started.
Add items directly from inside your wanted list while managing your Wanted List.
Import popular file types directly using our new Upload page (BrickStore/BrickStock, LDraw, LEGO Digital Designer).
Choose items without knowing the Item ID in our new Part Out page.

Smarter list manager

Build up and edit your list with more tools at your disposal. Editing multiple items at once is now easier and faster.
Track the completion of your wanted list with the new “Have Quantity” field. The system will keep track of the “Have Quantity” and help you then focus on the remaining quantity.

New buying experience

Plan out multiple stores simultaneously for complex wanted lists with the new Buy page.
Use the Auto-Finder instead if you want to automatically find the optimal store or combination of stores that can complete your wanted list.

Watch the video below to see the new Wanted List in action or take a look at the new help pages for additional information.

But most importantly, it no longer shows the buyers the prices, so you've
got no idea what price a store will charge unless you visit the store. Hurumph.

I get all the cute bells and whistles but you've done away with a HUGE feature.
I shop this site VERY DIFFERENTLY. The way you do is not cost effective for
me. You REALLY NEED to fix this! I don't have time to go through "haystacks"
when I used to have it right in front of me and I could work quickly.

This makes it so much harder for me to manage my lists. I like that when shopping
it will pull what's on my list to multiple stores but I can't even tell
what's on my list anymore with out going through almost a hundred pages of
content. Not helpful at all.

I'm sorry but... it's awful. You've killed everything I liked about
the wanted list and turned it into some wizard-like experience.
- Where is the consolidated view of all parts on all my wanted lists?
- Where are the lists of stores below each part?
- Most importantly: why are you no longer applying the minimum quantity and maximum
price?

If I need 100 of a part and I don't want to pay more than €0.15 per part
then I don't want to see any stores that have less than 100 of that part.
When I visit a store I want to see what they have that meets the requirements
on my wanted list. Until yesterday I could do that, now it just shows all parts
from my wanted list, whatever the quantity the shop has and whatever the price.

Who cares how easy it is to add parts to my wanted list if it's painful to
then buy the parts on that list?
The whole new Bricklink looks like a big disappointing mess to me but the wanted
list is the most important part of Bricklink and for me it's now an unusable
disaster.

I agree with all of these points! I need an ALL-ITEMS wanted list, and I need
to see prices up-front, not after I've drilled down several steps. This
new interface is so cumbersome and complicated and my wrist is sore from SCROLLING
so much -- too much white space! I liked the old crowded interface with
lots of good information in a small area.

I guess this might be a good thing -- I've been spending too much money
here anyway...

I suppose, its exactly why its not made.
As most users buy a whole bunch of differnt parts to complete their mocs,
that option is very helpful.
Now you can take 5 at 20 cent in your first order, 80 at 10 cent in your 2nd
order
and 15 at 30 cent in your third and last order.
The overall prices of this should not be much away from yours.
In the past, you had to do a fourth or fifth order, because all this parts you
wanted a hundred of, where NOT shown before, because you just wanted to see them
at all if there are 100+.
This was the example of a stupid idea.

Who cares how easy it is to add parts to my wanted list if it's painful to
then buy the parts on that list?

Many many people do, and most buyers feel its to complicated any way, so you
have to use a baby like approach to them.

The old much appreciated WL was just used by 15-20% of the users !
For the other 80-85% who neglected it because of complexity, that change had
to be made
to give newbies or not die-hard-afols a useful and comofortable shopping expirence.

Please stop thinking, all the LEGO world just centers around diehard-Afols.
Somewhere i heard, they(we) are 5% Share of legos turnover.
(maybe someone can confirm or correct?)

A huge amount of work done on the site I am sure and improvements made no doubt.

I must however point out (as others have similarly done) that Bricklink's
BEST tool, which made the shopping experience work was to directly see the pricing
from the wanted list and be able to specify the max price, min count and location,
etc. The new interface and quick shop button has totally HIDDEN all this data.
I can now only see whether a shop has availability, but I have no idea about
comparative pricing between multiple stores.

I sincerely hope that in light of "improving the shopping experience", these
essential elements of Bricklink are reinstated into this new design.

This is a huge downgrade from the previous wanted list. Please change it back.
As many other users have said, the ability to visually scan parts for the lowest
prices offered by sellers is how I shop on bricklink 99% of the time I'm
on here.

Some visual enhancements are great, but killing off core features that put money
in sellers pockets was a really terrible idea.

I think they underestimated the amount of people that want to manually select
parts now - yes its pretty and wonderful new features , like uploading LDD and
LDRAW files , i dont know if i want to be tooooo trusting in a machine telling
me automatically which combination of stores will fulfill my wanted list - sometimes
i used to use the older view with my favorite stores to see if their prices were
good otherwise wise ill get them somewhere else if its a substantial difference.

I wish the feature to link parts from within a shop to the price guide was a
default - like this we could compare other parts that we would want after selecting
stuff but they are not in wanted list . hope this feature eventually becomes
part of rather than an optional for shops - like that shops that want to over
charge their regular they will no longer be able to do so.

The new UI looks great, and I appreciate the added feature to find those shops
with more items on my wanted list, but if it ignores my max price or desired
# of parts, it makes shopping MUCH harder.

I'm brand new here, but as others have stated, the old system allowed me
to comparison shop within my desired parameters with many fewer clicks than are
needed with the update. Since the new system is more cumbersome, I'll be
less likely to visit the site as frequently as I have been and certainly won't
be making as many purchases.

No easy way to view all the the items on my wanted list that fit my minimum price

This new Wanted List is such an utter disaster. I am mostly buying on this site
and what used to be a 2 minute task (comparison shopping at a glance within key
price/qty parameters) will take 1 hour now if haven't thrown in the towel
long before that already.

I cannot believe that any current BL user would give feedback in a survey that
leads to the conclusion that this is an improvement. Adding functionality is
one thing, removing key features another.

Bring back the old Wanted List features (maybe as an "expert option") or this
member will be leaving very soon.

Do the site owners know how people use Bricklink? The wanted list is now useless.
There is no,way to scan to find prices and quantity available. This was a great
site, please stop fixing what is not broken.

I agree. The wanted list needs to show PRICE. It now only shows quantity.
And I don't know why I have to only look at one part at a time to see which
stores have an item.

Where's the old one? Bring it back. Where was the beta for this?

Hmmm, it looks like they took the "query shops" and expanded it and removed everything
else that showed what stores had.

I really liked being able to see the top 10ish stores that had the price and
min qty in MY SELECTED country. Now, it looks like you have to do the "query
shops" to see anything and it's designed for multiple pieces...

Backward and I don't see how this helps anyone.

Good thing I don't need to buy anything for a while...

It's not easier to use. Beginners will have no idea how to use this and
those of us that figured out the old system have just lost a bunch of features.

As much as I appreciate the hard work and good intentions behind the changes
made to the site, I'm sorry to say that I agree with all the negative comments
about the new Wanted List. Finding items that correspond to one's criteria
is now an awkward, tedious process involving way too much trial and error, in
good part due to the removal of highly useful bits of information.

Personally, as a user who's placed literally hundreds of orders with various
sellers, I find the current system nearly unusable. Which is a huge shame because,
obviously, I love shopping here. I would hate to get so frustrated with the new
Wanted List that I'd eventually stop coming here altogether.

I can only hope that the BL people will take the feedback seriously and will
find a way to bring back the features that made the Wanted List such a convenient,
nearly essential tool.

Please provide the option to use the old system. Now!

This is not going to happen. When did you last ask Tesco, or Walmart to put things
back as they were after moving things?

Kind of like ... the NEW COKE/Old Coke mess ... if there happens to be a huge
drop off of sales here on Bricklink ... things may really change.

Well before the change over I was planning to make purchases today, but trying
to do what I used to do doesn't work any more, so I know I'll be taking
more time getting stuff sorted to put in orders. Think there will be others in
the same boat. Under the old BrickLink, I could have had all my orders done by
now, instead, if I can't get it happening within the next hour, it will probably
be tomorrow, or the next day, or the day after that...

Will there be a drop off in sales though? Orders are still being placed, so some
people are finding what they want and purchasing it.

Yes but how big are those orders, I wouldnt be surprised if its nothing like
they used to be because people will probably just buy what they need and not
bother browsing for more.

I absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE the new site. I just want to pull my hair out!!!!! How much friggin beta testing did you do before releasing this nightmare? I ONLY buy on this site. I needed to buy stuff today, but I'm so frustrated with this piece of crap that I just gave up! If I were a seller on here, I would be utterly disgusted. Love to see how off sales have been today. RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

iIt seems to me too that you only focused on one variable - part availability. I'm sure that others could add more, but when I'm buying I NEVER just pick a store that has most of my pieces. That would be fine if you had deep pockets and didn't give a crap about how much you spend. I look at price, number of pieces that I need, location of store, stores min buy, store shipping costs and shipping time. All that is taken into consideration in response to my customers' needs/wants. There are other factors, but are the one Incan think of right now.

I agree entirely.

A decision to purchase is NEVER just about which store has the most parts I want.
It's a combination of all those things, number of parts I wanted, postage
cost, feedback, fees and charges plus other parts which might make up the weight
before I get to the next shipping threshold.

What would be useful would be a function that captured these elements. ANY tool
that ignores coat is insane on this website. You want people coming back, you
don't want them getting frustrated, angry and annoyed.

One last thought. It's a great idea to try and expand your user base but
it's not good business to alienate the existing one.

My expierence with the new Wanted List is bad so far. As a buyer I think the
control over what you are buying is completely lost. My previous use of the Wanted
List is not possible anymore and I seriously miss that. Let me explain:
I have several Wanted Lists. One or maybe two which I use to get the parts I
need for the model I'm actually working on. Next to that I have several 'nice
to have wanted lists' which I use to fill my shopping cart whenever I found
a shop where I want to buy the parts. This is not possible anymore.

So, the user interface make over is nice, the additional features of the Wanted
List are maybe useful for other shoppers, but please bring back the functionality
we had!

+1 Sounds like you used Wanted lists in a fashion similar how I did. While it's
like this, I'll liable to try sourcing stuff elsewhere & only buy what I
can't find anywhere else...

to have wanted lists' which I use to fill my shopping cart whenever I found
a shop where I want to buy the parts.

I used old wantlist with "show items by shop - show all", so I had an immediate
wantlist with all best prices of all items in my wantlist. In that way I can
compare price of items on BL with prices of PAB or B&P of Lego Shop... Now I
can't anymore...

Apparently we still can, you'll just need to visit every store with that
part, check the price, wash, rinse, repeat... Again this 'new' system
needs to be filed in the circular filing cabinet.

Totally agree with you.
I have over 90 wanted lists categorised with parts and sets containing nearly
3000 Lots that I buy to rebuild rare models for fans. Before I was able to compare
the prices with just a couple of clicks but now I have to rummage through dozens
of pages to find what I want at the right price. This new format is wasting time
I do not have so unless they reinstate the old search engine I will be forced
to source lego from elsewhere and use BL as a last resort.
In saying that some of the new features are really good and I can see them suiting
the casual buyer but unfortunately its not for me and by the looks of things,
many other as well. I really cant see the influx of casual buyers even coming
close to making up for the loss of income generated from the big buyers that
will disappear if they continue with this.

Although I mourn the loss of features mentioned in other replies, I think this
overhaul still has a lot of potential. Auto-Finder seems like it could be a major
time-saver, with one caveat: I need the ability to limit Auto-Finder to my
Favourite Stores.

Over the years I have built relationships with a number of sellers. I trust them
– I know they handle bricks with care, I know how long it takes for them to ship
orders (and how long those orders take to reach me), and I know I can count on
them for great customer service. I will not place a $400 order with a seller
I've never bought from before (too many unknowns), so in its current implementation,
I cannot take advantage of Auto-Finder. But by adding filters to limit the range
of the feature, I think it'll be a fantastic tool!

Therefore, we reworked the whole experience to make it easier to manage a list and designed a new buying experience that focuses on the necessity to compare and plan out multiple carts at once.

Look more like a development managed by non-user... and not surveying in depth
xwhen defining the needs.

There is my first experience of this new feature.... bug report from my browser
that shut down the windows (afte using more than 1.10^6 K of memory (and freezing
couple of time the browser, and almost my laptop while charging the pages)...
Conclusion : not possible to shop on "multi-task" mode (or multitab), and since
I don't plane to update my computer for a while since it fit my professional
needs, this feature will freeze my shopping here.
Don't being LEGO is not what I call a "new feature", since I've done
this for years (or decades) during my dark age.

Thanks again for taking time to develop useless feature from my perspective.

Have to agree with others - it may look nicer but its impossible to use. I want
to be a able to see the stores and prices within a location for my wanted items
individually but on the same page. It was a quick and easy process before. Now
I still haven't managed to find out what I want to know! Just awful - please
reinstate the old functions that everybody actually used!

Adding features is one thing, and actually positive! But REMOVING veeeery useful
functions is a plain idiotic decision. I hope you guys realize that and you'll
listen to the sellers and buyers who are having a hard time right now; losing
time, work and money. I'm sure you had the best intentions, but I beg you
to reinstate the old wanted list functions alongside the new ones.

What a horror, this feature is pretty much useless right now.

On another note I wonder why such big pictures once you open a wanted list?
It just makes less information to fit into one page - It gives me 3.5 parts.
Just three and a half! What was wrong with old 80*60 pics? You see, I have already
added part into wanted list so I don't need to see in full details (this
was done prior adding into WL) - there is simply a need to quickly distinguish
the part and its colour when you scroll through your WL. No need for such size.

There is also a good thing I'd like to advise. If you wish to update/hide
old feature - please make sure to have an additional option in settings to re-enable
it. You simply don't know how people use and abuse BL. Drastic changes doesn't
help.

Regards,
Alex

I was very shocked to see that it clearly isn't possible to see a complete
list with all the parts on "all" the different wanted-lists together... Please,
please give us back the functionality of what worked great!

Agree entirely. I have multiple wanted lists, one for each set I am collecting
parts for from bulk lots I purchase to sell) yet I now cant see all parts at
once and have to view each list individually.

A response from BrickLink is needed, but know we will never get one.

Going out of their way to brick the old link after it was discovered that it
still worked may give a preview of their thought process on this. I am betting
that, like many new media companies, they will manage the people who are upset,
let it blow over, and then either do nothing or make very minor changes.

I know I am not holding my breath, but I hope I'm wrong.

I don't use wanted lists so I can't say whether the new way is better
or worse (but from wading through the forum I am sure it is different).

However, I find it sad that people jump to these conclusions. There are very
valid technical reasons to make sure the old links are invalidated. The most
obvious one is that the old links might manipulate the data differently, and
it may just be incompatible with the new database.

I can definitely understand people being upset about these changes, but there
is no need to make negative assumptions about why things were done. There is
enough shouting and screaming over all this, don't fuel the fires with these
guesses.

Well if Admin actually cared about any of this they would reply to some of these
posts and try to explain things but they havnt yet. With wholesale changes this
big did they not think that people will have questions and concerns.
So where is their feedback, where is the open discussion, make a ticket and wait
is their answer.
Ive never seen the customers who make a company money treated so poorly as I
am right now. There is so much negative feedback that you cant help but feel
this site is self destructing atm.
Oh there will be people who still use it because this is how they make their
living but there will be a lot that either give up or look for alternate Lego
sites.
I really do hope they can fix things (Especially the WL) but I cant help but
feel this will be a long time in coming and by that time a lot of people would
have moved on....

This is exactly my point. There is indeed so much negativity. The thing is, people
will speak up when things are wrong. When they are happy, there is way less incentive
to post. With all these negative posts, people get more and more worked up, and
there are several members who apparently feel the need to post with language
that is not exactly open for reasonable discussion.

As said before, I am not saying everything is perfect. Far from that. But I am
convinced there is a very large group of sellers and buyers who are happy. I
can also see that posting happy messages about the new BL ican be nerve wrecking
with all the animosity (and sometimes downright agressiveness).

I for one look forward to what happens in the short term, and what other changes
are in store.

I agree! I too keep multiple wanted lists for each set I'm trying to complete,
but I still want to see all the parts at once!

I don't have the time and patience to completely relearn how to use this
site... and as a buyer and a seller, I am not happy!

This makes the wanted list and searching stores much more difficult. I appreciate

Yes, this is a very problem for who buy with filter quantity and max price. In
this manner it's very impossible to use

I have been a loyal customer on Bricklink for just under 15 years and have enjoyed
the experience up until yesterday. I have been around to see many changes and
have continually rolled with the punches but changing the wanted list is going
too far. If you need to keep it this way fine but at least have the classic version
still available for us old timers. Bury the link among all of the links on our
personal page if you have to but please, please make it available. I need to
see all items from ALL of my wanted lists by shop, and more importantly with
the prices listed.

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry but after taking over 30 mins to try to figure the new wanted list out
I just gave up. Can not understand why I need to go to a store to find out how
much things cost. And my first preference for shopping is the uk I now have to
make changes after being confronted with a list of all stores worldwide. I checked
my wanted list settings and it is set to uk so why do I get all stores?. I will
come back to try to buy some items another time, hopefully the old wanted list
will be back.

While I appreciate the intent (improvement to the experience) frankly this isn't
going well - honestly this is pretty awful - downtime this morning, pages that
don't work (broken links, Java menus not dropping down), no PRICING (this
is a shopping experience, no prices is on the one hand silly and on the other
hand business suicide) and you can't add an entire wish list to the items
you wish to shop for? What. The. Heck.

Did you pay someone for this? Did you have actual users beta testing? Are you
still working with the developers? Is there a bug list or a feature request
area available to users?

Please address the following:

1 - add more than 25 items to the "Quick Shop" list OR provide instructions on
how to do this

I have 196 items on a single wishlist. Without a way to add ALL the items to
a search you have crippled your sites ability to provide value.

2 - display PRICES for items versus making us click around on various stores.

I found a workaround by searching for least expensive options first but this
is less than ideal

I'm sure there are more bugs to be found and to work out, but these are the
glaring OMG HAIR ON FIRE issues I see...

Another bug - can't apply quantity adjustment to individual entries. Now
taking 3x longer (on a wish list of 7 items) to adjust how many wish list items
I want.

The only way to effect change or affect decisions is to report your issues -
I have done so and received the following:

Thanks for contacting BrickLink! Your ticket has been received and has been assigned
ticket number [redacted].

We are currently experiencing a high volume of tickets and will respond as soon
as possible. Your patience is very much appreciated.

In the meantime, check out our Help Center and Knowledge Base for frequently
asked questions.

Please do not submit multiple inquiries about the same issue- this will slow
down our ability to respond.

Ah, did you guys check with anyone who uses bricklink before "updating" this
feature? There is now no way to at a glance see what stores have my wanted items
in the number and price I have specified. What use to take me 1 minute would
now take hours.

They did. Once in February and then again in May. Hundreds of forum readers had
the opportunity to test out Wanted Lists in the preview site for weeks.

True, but a post on a forum is no substitute for real Beta testers. At this
point, we have no idea what that process was, or if there was any actual Beta
testing or if it just relied on the 200 odd forum posts. (Not really judging
that one way or another because we just don't know...)

In addition, I think that people had no way of knowing that vague terms like
"...reworked and simplified the experience" meant "gutted". The video preview
was also not sold as a clear "this is everything that is included" rather than
a "here's a preview of some new things". Looking at that now, it was pretty
much everything.

That said, there were many comments that were obviously not addressed in terms
of the WL feature.

"Also, my max prices and remarks on wanted list items aren't showing. Maybe
I missed where to turn that on." -par016

"I took one look at my wanted list and fled. I did not have enough time to list
everything that is wrong with it." -WoutR

"this is one of the features we been waiting on to be upgraded for quiet sometime
and this hits most of the issues we had and i tried to exploit it and so far
i can find much fault on it apart of the wanted list main page its missing some
more inforation there like how many parts are in the wanted list not just the
lots , i have to go inside to the wanted list to see this." -AussieBrickster

"Have not read all the responses yet. Trying it out ... I spotted something.
I
have a lot of "Wanted Lists" and each one has their own name. When searching
through a store ... and using my "Wanted Lists" ... it sometimes comes up with
that it has found an item that are on more than one list ... and it says so.
But, it does not say which lists it is referring to. Am I missing something?"
-Tiggrlee

"Yet at the same time completely undermining the use of multiple wanted lists.
The changes there did NOT make it easier for buyers to shop.

I have multiple wanted lists because I want to keep an overview of several projects,
not because I want to buy the parts separately one wanted list at a time." -WoutR

"In the new design, the possibility to access/edit my wanted lists by category
is completely missing. This is a huge loss of functionality which makes the use
of many wanted lists much, much less practical. Instead of a simple one-click
overview, I now have to start a search for certain categories in the wanted list
search page.

When I want to buy items, I have to manually select the wanted lists I want to
use. These is no select all/none button any longer (proudly added during one
of the last updates, I was happy about that). I have to use a scroll-bar window
to find the correct lists, instead of using the current easy table that gives
me an instant overview over all my wanted lists. Currently I can select all my
wanted lists at once (1 click) and remove the few low priority lists with a few
clicks. In the new design I can click a few, scroll, click a few more, scroll,
click a few more, scroll, click, scroll, click. Let's just say is does not
motivate me to buy on impulse." -WoutR

"I don't understand the new wanted feature at all.

I clicked a wanted list with 2 items and don't see any stores and prices
in the list.

I have to select an item to edit it.

I can't edit 2 or more properties of an item at once.

I can't apply different properties to 2 or more items on one screen." -therobo

"I had not tried editing.

Want (top left)
Wanted list (top middle)
Select a list by clicking on the name (no indication that I should do this)

Select an item
click color
click - scroll to find a color
select one (random color change)
click apply

ERROR MESSAGE
Only one of each item/color is allowed per wanted list

What does that mean? I do not have that item not that color anywhere else in
this small wanted list.

Editing seems to be (nearly?) impossible.
This feature is clearly broken." -WoutR

"HATE the new Wanted List that does not use the Parts Categories to separate
the
parts in a list.

Just dumping all the parts on a wanted list into a flat file is NOT helpful.

Please consider adjusting this. If it is a settig option, please change the default."
-singlow

"I was just using the new preview today, and I noticed that finding items on
your
Wanted List in a store has changed.

In the past, I'd usually find a shop that had a majority of the items on
one wanted list, but would order additional items even if they didn't have
my "quantity wanted". For example, if I wanted 20 gray tiles, and they only
had 10, I'd usually order them anyway to reduce the number I needed to order
next time.

Now, I don't see the option to select a wanted list, and see if a store carried
the part I needed in ANY quantity, aside from my wanted list number. Is this
feature gone, or I am I not seeing the option in the new preview?" -tableslug

"In this concentration the threads regarding the wanted list (tool for
buyers) has been central to this update and quite honestly the feedback has been
totally un-complimentary with some asking why you have made it so complicated
- especially for new members/buyers." -calsbricks

You and several others commented on the new, clean look of the WL.

Lots of the other feedback focused on people not liking (or liking) the hearts
for the add to WL.

All that said, the reaction was solidly towards the negative side. In addition,
several of the issues (like the update glitch) were clearly outlined as not working
at the time and upon rollout...it still didn't work and the issue that people
clearly outlined was not fixed. I think that is why people are a bit miffed.

In the case of the poster you replied to, they were not among those that replied,
but their concerns were nevertheless shared by others.

I like the new site, but it is clear that BL made a big misstep with the WL changes
and they could have easily seen that coming based on the replies in the preview
thread.

I like the new site, but it is clear that BL made a big misstep with the WL changes
and they could have easily seen that coming based on the replies in the preview
thread.

Scott

+1

...and additional:
The sorting functionality by colour is also removed.
When I part out sets or upload models by xml files my first activity is to remove
the parts which I have already. Since I have sorted my parts by colour I have
used the colour sorting to find out what I have already and can be removed from
the wanted list.
This is not longer possible. I can search all parts of all wanted lists by colour,
but I must know what colours I have in my wanted lists, as there is only the
all colour selection of all known colours of BL and not only of the colours of
my wanted lists.

They did. Once in February and then again in May. Hundreds of forum readers had
the opportunity to test out Wanted Lists in the preview site for weeks.

Perhaps a better wording would be: "did you guys listen to anyone who uses bricklink

There seems to be near consensus that some very important and seemingly basic
features were removed that regular buyers depend on.

Again, yes. Lots of the feedback that was given resulted in fixes and tweaks.

There seems to be near consensus that some very important and seemingly basic
features were removed that regular buyers depend on.

I don't quite agree. From what I can see, there are two or three things that
have been lost. (Seeing prices by store without going into each store, seeing
entire wanted list at once or by category, and ... something else I don't
recall at the moment).

I wouldn't describe those few items as you have. It should be relatively
simple to add them back in. (Though I am saddened to read in another post that
there is not a plan to do so). I admit that I may have missed a few othe concerns,
as I tend to stop reading posts that say "This is dog puke! Everything about
this is horrible! Change everything! Beat the half-wit who did this with their
own femur!" etc

Marc,

Those 2 items that have been lost are what I'm addressing. These are features
that most of the buyers I know depend on regularly.

All though they haven't addressed this as far as I know on the forums, they
did contact me and said they are working to correct the problem.

Please tell me that you haven't eliminated this as part of your "improvements"...also
rebrickable integration is broken, as in totally doesn't work.

or for sellers: http://www.bricklink.com/invXML.asp

Rebrickable has to update their site. I'm sure they're working on it
as we speak.

Don't panic.

But, unlike BrickOwl, lacking the ability able to know how much your order is
actually going to cost at the time you place the order.

I have to concur with many of the other users complaining about not being able
to see pricing from stores who carry items on my want list. I think BL is on
the right track with what they are trying to do, but still have more work to
do to integrate the old features into the new design. One feature that I miss
(besides pricing) is the ability to sort the Want list by my remark. I utilize
that field to group parts I want and need into different projects. You can sort
by almost any other method except remark. I hope this is updated as well.

Dear BrickLink,

This is not an update. This is a "downdate".
A lot of the easy features in the previous wanted list are removed.

An example.
After I have placed an order, I can't remove the items in my wanted list
in one simple click. Why changing BrickLink so much?
You remove the handy features it had..

Very very annoying.

Best regards,
Niels from BricksDirect

I wanted to let you know that I sent an email to mvpark@gmail.com (Marvin Park), who is listed as the site architect. Although, he didn't really give.me any real new information, he responded back to me very quickly. Maybe if enough people email him directly, we can get a better idea of when this will be fixed.

I love it! I just bought all the parts needed to build 4002014 Lego HUB Birds
from 4 stores very easily. I love how it shows the total of the parts in the
store you select, along with the % above or below the 6 month selling average.
Helped me find a good deal on everything I needed.

Out of curiosity, did you confirm that the prices from those 4 stores were the
lowest prices for those parts? When I searched yesterday, the cheapest option
gave me 2 stores to fill my list, but the fewest stores option gave me 3 different
stores, one of which had less lots than the two cheapest stores. And, even with
that, my understanding is that to ensure I was getting the best prices for the
quantities I needed, I would still have to look up each part separately. I didn't
take the time to do that, but my guess was that I wasn't being shown the
lowest prices for the quantities I needed.

Now, perhaps I'm wrong, or perhaps that's the point. Is this somehow
a way for stores who don't strive to sell at the lowest prices to be protected
in some way from stores who strive to always be the lowest price, regardless
of how far below a 6month average price that may take them?

How much of a factor was finding the best price for you? (And, I realize that's
not always simple based on fees, shipping, etc.)

Thanks,
Melissa

Note that I had several items added in "All colors" on my (old) wanted lists.
This option is no longer available, but if you look at the radio for example,
it's only listed in one color and the price is way off, as usual with this
Portuguese guy.

Also, I have the items in N/A condition on my wanted lists and the referred price
for the hair for example is always for new.
I just did a simply quickshop, no finder action.

I've already reported bugs on this. Where it shows 0% it usually somehow
didn't calculate the percentages at all. For other items, the price difference
seems to be (by my observation) calculated approximately like this: They sum
6 month avg for new and used items, divide by 2 (to get average of this) and
then calculate price difference. Obviously this leads to skewed percentages and
is very misleading.

I've already reported bugs on this. Where it shows 0% it usually somehow
didn't calculate the percentages at all. For other items, the price difference
seems to be (by my observation) calculated approximately like this: They sum
6 month avg for new and used items, divide by 2 (to get average of this) and
then calculate price difference. Obviously this leads to skewed percentages and
is very misleading.

Good point. We've been trying to figure out the percentages as well. It
would have been nice if BL was much more up front with the calculations.

Without understanding the calculation, the percentage given is completely without
value.

I agree. The percentage calculation should check for item condition and use the
appropriate value.

I'd also love to see those those price difference marker in other parts of
the site. Stores' item pages would be lovely, but that's probably just
wishful thinking. But Wanted List page inside a store really should have them.

In the examples given here, was the condition actually set in the WL?
If condition was “N/A”, it seems logical they used a combination of used and
new prices.

Can't remember offhand, but it does not feel logical to me. If the item is
used, I'd expect the price difference to reflect the used price. Perhaps
if they'd state in a tooltip which prices were used at least...

Wish there was edit button...

I've also received this email:

The wanted list is currently calculating for new or used 6 month averages. It should not be merely averaging the two in any situation.

So the function is supposed to work as I expected if I understand correctly?

Note that I didn’t say “feels logical” but “seems logical”: I can often find
a logic, an explanation, why they did it that way. Not that this logic and its
results are the best way.

Hey Admin, Are you going to fix this? Too many sellers & buyers are requesting
that the prices be put back into the wanted list. How hard can this be. If you
can change many things that did not need to be changed and only a few that did
need to be changed why can't you put the prices back on the wanted list?
It's OK to admit that a mistake was made but it is even worse to never change
what many supporters are asking for. Is this website just for you or is for us?
Thank you.

In NEWS, Admin writes:

Please add old features for wanted list back. This is horrible. Minimum quality
and list by shop were essential features! We want our 'old' website!

You guys really screwed this up. The new look is great but the options and functions of the old site was what worked so well. Now I can't find which dealers have my parts for the best prices.

Bring back the want list functions that we had especially MAX price and best
total by price per store. Not wasting time until you guys fix what wasn't
broken.

Overall interface is fine. Id get used to it.

However ... Wanted list is Horrible as it is now.
Unpleasant surprise logging in today.

I hate how it ignores my max price and qty to shows me everything anyways.
NOT what I would have wanted.
Dunno who would have asked for that feature.

I'm very glad to hear that the BL people are listening to the feedback and
are working on bringing back some of the really useful features that were removed,
especially when it comes to the Wanted List. Not that I don't appreciate
the work that went into updating the site. I feel it was due for a new look,
and I must admit that there are new features that I actually quite like. It's
just that there's no reason not to combine the new design with the old features.
In any case, I look forward to seeing how the site evolves over the next days/weeks.

There's a couple of issues I'd like to bring up. I don't know if
they've been mentioned before, or maybe they're already being worked
on. But anyway...

When shopping at a store, I can see that it's possible to list the available
items from one's Wanted List, which is good. But all I can do is show all
the items on my list, regardless of their quantity or price on the store.
To be fair, this is actually a rather useful option in many situations. But with
the old site I typically started by showing only the items that correspond to
my quantity and price criteria. Then I'd use the less restrictive option,
showing all the items from my wanted list. Am I missing something? If not, I'd
really like both options to be available again. I feel that they complement each
other very well.

Another thing about using one's Wanted List on a store is that while Wanted
Qty and Max Price are shown for each item, including the black or red codes,
these bits of info are too far away from the store's Quantity and Price.
Wanted Qty and Max Price are listed horizontally below the item, while store
Quantity and Price are listed vertically at the right of the item. To me, this
makes it hard to make quick comparisons. I would prefer if both sets of info
were closer together.

The second issue I want to bring up is pretty minor, but I find it a tad annoying.
When adding items to one's Wanted List, the Set Max Price box behaves in
a odd way. If I enter a round dollar value (like $1.00 or $5.00, for instance),
it's just fine. If I enter a non-rounded value above $0.10 (like 1.25), it
works, but the box turns red for some reason. Not a big deal so far. However,
when I enter a value under $0.10 (say $0.05), the first zero doesn't appear,
the dot does, and when I press the second zero the dot disappears, like my entry
was rejected. The only way I can enter $0.05 is by typing "5", moving the cursor
to the left, then typing "0.0". I can live with this, but it's a tad frustrating
for no good reason. I can only assume this is some kind of bug/oversight.

Please add the prices of the stores back in the first page of a specific wanted
list. Now it's much more work to select parts for a good price. Also it's
harder to see how many stores has the specific part. This is now only possible
when selecting one part and "buy"

I suspect that's because you're not supposed to do that, you're meant
to make a list & buy using their broken auto-finder...

Thanks for this! I think the Auto-Finder feature is super cool. Though I do wish
it would account for the minimum units the seller expects us to buy. Right now
it seems to blindly purchase from store inventories that should clearly not be
an option. An example would be one item it tried to purchase on my behalf that
I only needed 40 of. It added only 40 to the cart correctly, but the seller was
only selling that item in bulk batches of 1,000. It becomes way more of an issue
when this happens 20-30 times across the whole order. It becomes a lot to go
fix cause now the whole optimized purchase it was going for can't happen
at all in some cases. Take for example the aforementioned item, if it were the
primary item $ wise for the purchase with 40 units being required then it's
no longer an option to buy the required 1,000, and in the case where that seller
also had multiple other items from the wanted list it may no longer be an option
to buy any of those items either. After losing the big ticket item min. buy may
not even be met any longer. Thus, this single erroneous item displaces that whole
list and it's just one of the 30+ mischosen items from the wanted list. It
becomes a lot to fix. Also, it would be nice to have a way to empty all shopping
carts with one button or something. Now that we can add items to multiple carts
at once it would be nice to have a way to clear all of them quickly too. Clearing
40 carts can be tedious to do if you find yourself having to do that

Also, I just uploaded a test list with the max price set for each listed item
and it seems the auto-finder doesn't respect that. It suggested I buy 30
of an item I stated a max price of $0.77 for at $0.83 each. I'd say that
needs to be fixed as well. Also, I did notice in the shop views on this item
that it said avg. max price $0.77. I thought this may have something to do with
it so I removed the other lists with the item that it seemed to be averaging
from and it switched to saying simply max price $0.77 but still chose the same
seller at $0.83. I was expecting something more like a list of all the parts
it couldn't find for the price specified.

All fine and well ,but I must join to the GRUMPY bunch.
IT IS NOT COT EFFECTIVE AND some features ,which I still need are not available
and if you ask me -I will stop functioning if you do not get an old version back.
I can not change any features to my old wanted list (Price ,quantity ,remarks)
Also you probably did not notice -You can not add any items to my wanted list
manually like in the old way ????
When I am going shopping it shows to me all the items on my wanted list - regardless
the price ?????????
Do you have any intention to even repair that ???
I am very frustrating her -Can you give me some answer ??
Regards ;Simon

It's interesting how so many members that utilize the site so little or are
relatively new have so much to say about the upgrade. The name calling is a
bonus.

They probably do not know how much features were lost,
or how many bugs are present in the new features.
