I would like the file option to be available on all my 'orders placed'
regardless of the current order status.
I have had a couple of orders that I have placed where the seller has shipped
me the items, but for reasons unknown has left the status as either 'paid'
or 'packed'.
The seller is either not responding to my messages to update the status or doesnt
want to change the status and thus I am unable to file my order, until the status
is changed completed. I am unable to change the status while it is Paid or packed
the seller has complete control.
Sorry, but I voted no. I don't think buyers should be able to change order
status to completed and file it away before the seller has marked it as paid
or shipped. While I understand (and share) your frustration with sellers who
are lazy about changing the order status, allowing buyers to change the status
prematurely would open it up to much confusion, gaming and abuse.

Filing it does not affect the other party. (A buyer can file an order and it
will not be filed for the seller.)

I took this as they were just wanting the ability to have the File checkbox on
the Buyer side regardless of order status, to file the order away on their end
so it would not pop up in their order view, not necessarily change the order
status.

OK, now I understand. Sorry for my misunderstanding. I will change my vote to
yes so long as this suggestion will only allow buyers to file away orders.
I guess one problem with this is that if a buyer files it before it is marked
complete then it may never get changed to complete by the buyer, if they've
already filed it.
It wouldn't bother me if a buyer could set it complete before a seller marks
it as shipped though, for cases when the seller forgets.

I voted YES, for your reasons, even though I don't need it for them. I mark
orders filed, usually after the 4th or 5th of the month. File all the ones
from the previous month. I like to keep all order for the current month on the
page(s) so I can see quickly, how many orders, and the amount we have sold for
the month. After filing the orders, I still randomly check them to see if they
have been completed by the buyer.
