If you haven’t heard the news yet, it’s true. We’re collaborating with Brickset, the popular LEGO set guide and database, to make BrickLink more accessible to LEGO fans around the world. Thanks to Huw at Brickset for making this possible! Below is an explanation of the integration.

For sets, parts, and minifigs found throughout Brickset, users will now find links to the corresponding items available for sale on BrickLink. Each item on Brickset includes a sidebar “Buy at BrickLink” that directs users to the respective catalog page. Here, they can view a list of BrickLink sellers offering that item.

On the sidebar (image below), the lowest new and used prices available for that item will appear according to the user’s location. Each price links to the same item page with each row filtered by the following settings (in this order):

    • Seller located anywhere in the world
    • Seller located in buyer’s country
    • Seller located in buyer’s continent (or EU if you’re in a EU country)

The sidebar also provides links to BrickLink’s price guide and inventory pages (if applicable).

Note: prices are not shown only for incomplete items.

With the new integration, you can browse the best deals and discounts offered on BrickLink. On Brickset, go to Buy Discounts at BrickLink.com. Discounted items will only show if you are in the following countries – AU, BE, CA, DE, DK, ES, FR, IT, NL, UK, and US.

Currently, no links will be shown if Brickset’s part numbering system does not match ours. We're working to resolve this issue as soon as possible, but please let us know if you come across any other problems.

Sincerely,
The BrickLink & Brickset Team

This should give BL even more reason to deal with scammers - NOW.

Scammers usually try to have the lowest prices. Having BrickSet directly link
to the lowest BL price is only going to send more buyers to those stores, and
increase the downward pressure on prices.

Still, I can see the positives in this. I hope it results in more sales for decent
sellers on BrickLink.

I agree with you, Thor. Other sites require verification to open a store. A legitimate
seller, even if they have a small inventory, would easily be able to prove they're
legitimate. Like the other auction site, they can have reasonable limits until
they prove themselves not out to scam a quick buck. We don't want to be the
site that sucks people into scams by allowing a scammer to set the minimum price
on an item, and then we as a site get blamed for their perfidy, giving BL a bad
name.

Hi Kaye & Foster,

We're implementing new barriers to becoming a new seller very soon - this
issue is very important to me and the rest of the team. We took into account
all of your comments on this thread (http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=949636)
when discussing the new seller requirements. Once the details are finalized,
we'll share them with everyone on the forum. It won't be too long before
the barriers are implemented and I will keep an eye on the Problem Member reports
and new seller log over the weekend in the meantime.

Thanks for your comments and concern!

Given your track record of resolving problems in the past, and your conscientious
approach to the community of BL, your word that you are addressing this problem
calms my fears concerning this issue. Thanks again, Jaclyn!

I am sure there was lots of consideration for this and I, as I am sure rest of
the community of sellers and buyers, appreciate the effort and the inevitable
safe measures to keep Bricklink a safe and happy place

How does this new link work for parts stores where they do not offer sets? I
cannot seem to find any way to bring this up via Brickset.

Normally you wouldn't find parts like that, more likely by viewing a set
inventory, which is on the main set details pages.

I clicked on the "here" link and this is what I saw. Frankly I would totally
have ignored the bricklink box if I hadn't been looking for it. I didn't
have any reason to shop at ebay, and still don't, but seeing the page didn't
really give me any reason to shop at bricklink either.

It kind of makes the "no links to other sites selling LEGO items" rule a moot
point.

Just my 2 coins worth.

There is already talk of having the possibility if the user turning it off. Mainly
due to inconsistencies when sellers are listing things using the wring data.
Eg. (New, sealed) when the description then states otherwise. Also minimum store
purchases, postage, handling fees, etc are not shown. This may lead to brickset
users just ignoring BL listings if they assume it is commonplace to add on extra
handling fees, etc. I never look at Amazon marketplace listings for example,
the prices will always be significantly higher, so ignore them all.

BL needs to start coming down heavily on sellers if they are listing sets as
new sealed if they are not. Probably also minifigs if incomplete (give the option
to sell incomplete minifigs). Otherwise the site reputation will suffer.

PS I think this is a good thing, but sellers here need to be aware that they
need to list items correctly or the whole site losses the goodwill of users coming
in from fan sites.

Set No: 75102 Name: Poe's X-Wing Fighter

75102-1 (Inv) Poe's X-Wing Fighter
702 Parts, 4 Minifigs, 2015
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 7
"Complete 100% except does NOT come with BB-8 (can include for $25 additional)
Stickers unapplied, can ship in original box at your request (will cost slightly
more) Displayed for 1 day, then packed away. No smoking, no pets!

that is terrible. this is obviously not an accidental listing error, but a classic
bait and switch. A seller who does this should have store suspended and put on
probation.

I'd like to see a three strikes type rule here. Warning, warning, then force
them to do an online tutorial while the store is suspended for a week. Then for
further misdemeanors, warning, warning, two weeks suspension, etc. It would stop
people trying to cheat the search filters.
