| Seller after seller falls into difficult times and finds they really need to
close their store to stem the tide of new orders.
If sellers have 20/20 foresight and can tell the future, they know when to shutdown
their store *before* they become sick, before that car accident that leaves them
in a coma in the hospital, before the massive power outage that shuts down their
city.
How many sellers on BL are great at predicting the future?
I know I'm not. Otherwise I would have shut my store down BEFORE the massive
power outage that is currently affecting my area.
My suggestion is this: Change the current lower minimum time on auto-shutdown
of av store from 3 days to something more realistic like 1 day ....or even 12
hours.
Technically, I can't see BL having a problem with that ... they auto-disconnect
users after 15 - 30 minutes of browser inactivity and preform daily site maintenance.
Surely doing a daily check on stores that have not been active in the last 24
hours (only for those sellers who actively select that time frame), is possible.
BL may have some philosophical or ethical reason for this 3 day limit, but I
can not see what it could be.
The current 3 day limit only exacerbates the situation and does not make for
happy buyers or sellers. Buyers are unhappy because their sellers are ignoring
them; Sellers are unhappy as is soon as they are back on their feet physically
or electronically, they may have to go into over-drive to process the backlog
of orders that occurred before they could shutdown their store
Who knows more about when and how often a given seller logs into his/her store?
The store owner or BrickLink?
Grumpy seller still without power after 1.5 days ...and 3 new orders to process
when I do get power back

I say yes to both post! lol
1 day is fine. Basically 1,2,3,4,5 days max. If you haven't logged in in
5 days something is most likely wrong or you are on a beach and could care a
less lol. I don't think less then 1 day is needed. Cause if you sleep and
then get up and eat maybe run the kids to school stop by the store boom 12 hours
is long past. Unless your on the 3-4 hour sleep thing sadly I know someone
on this pattern. Today was a nice full about 3 hours. And bla bla bla lol.

Some day I am lol. Plus I normally sleep when the sun is up which makes it hard
to get in a deep sleep. I do get lucky from time to time and get 5-6 hours in
and its pretty rare to get over 7. Most days though its about 4 hours avg. One
day I will just fall over. But then again when im working full time that 70-80
hours a week 5 days. lol I always get cracked up when someone say "glad my 5
days is up, was a long week" and I ask them how many hours they worked and they
say 41. I am like I do that in about 3 days and then I tell them I work almost
double what most people do avg. It does kill me sometimes though, up all night,
sleep in the day, super long hours. Anyway.
