Especially now it is possible to make PayPal claims after orders have been purged.

I think price guide is something that they should continue to purge unless they
have a feature that allows you to see "historical" or last 6 months.
I don't care (high or low) what was the market for something 5 years ago.

I actually do care, especially for parts that don't sell often.
But I do think I once got a piece for cheaper than I otherwise would have, had
they had history going back further.
Ideally there would be the ability to choose the time frame one wanted to see
the price guide for.
If they kept forum threads for a lot longer, there would be less reason to re-debate
the same stuff over and over.
With my short term memory getting worse and worse, I am thinking that within
a few years, I might more enjoy the same debates over and over again.

the price guide should be user set
could you imagine if you had to buy or sell stocks with a price guide like
this?
it would be great to go 1 month when needed and 2 years when need on valuable
sets and figures

I disagree. With everything on the internet printed in ink nowadays, I appreciate
some things being purged after a while. But maybe extend the purge timeframe
to a year or two instead of six months, and have some older data stored away
in archive somewhere.

| I'm tired of seeing the same answers to the same questions over and over
..
Would easily be fixed with a decent search option and it would help newcomers
a bunch
A BUNCH!
Also, some folks (me included) might want to write long and very interesting
posts about LEGO
Some of us do have loads of info about old LEGO, TLG history, 'secrets',
war stories, tall tales and what not, but might not be inclined to write it if
get's purged after 6 months
I'm pretty sure the majority of the BL forum would eat that stuff like a
candyfloss
No other fora that I've frequented has ever had a 'purge' (unless
it's due to backup wipe or similar) and I've been around +20 years as
a user, admin, owner - the lot
BL is quite odd in this regard?
Lastly, danish (EU?) rules state that you must have a backup of your transactions
going five years back. There may be actions stated _only_ in the forum that might
have a significant impact on your business, thus purging becomes important
Ultra lastly, I just think it's way silly, borderline pathetic. Words/text
don't mean diddly datawise, pics do (and we can upload pics to the BL server,
sigh)
Please sort it BL - there's NO other reaseon not to!
(It's actually more important than facelifts, MOCshop and whatnot. It's
a _very_ basic thing in online business. As you like to become the Amazon of
LEGO you might want to look how Amazon handles this issue)
Luv,
Ole

You will be pleased to know that this suggestion was made by a prominent member
at the recent roundtable in Chicago, and no one was opposed to it. We already
have lifted purging from open catalog requests, open suggestions, and all inventory
change request threads.
And yes, you are right - more people will post things of substance if they know
they won't get purged. I shudder to think of all those posts from Gary Istok
that are now gone.
Big YES vote from me.

AND, Marvin Park said that they actually still have all the historical Price
Guide data -- it just isn't accessible through the website.

There is a good reason many sellers are interested in recent price data, so from
that point of view it makes sense to hide that data. But for rare items, it would
be great if we could see the information for the last 10 items sold if less than
10 were sold during the previous 6 months.

| Only if you're a troll or behave like a general *nasty word* you'd

I see no reason for this here. Not in the forum, and certainly not when it comes
to business
And BL _is_ a business
