I feel just as strongly about this issue, as I do with my previous suggestion.
When a member takes the decision to place another member on their stoplist, that
an option is offered during the process of stoplisting. Perhaps a check-box to
tic-off if you would like to keep the lines of communication, open.
This would be at the discretion of the member doing the stoplisting.
Maybe two levels of stoplisting; one without contact (more severe), or a less
severe level, allowing contact.
I would further suggest that the option be left open as long as the member is
on the stoplist. Allowing the stoplisting member to open-up comms, or close if
desired.

Yes! I might put a buyer on my stoplist, but depending on the reason, be open
to communication from them. If these lines of communication were kept open a
little more, it might make the forums a little quieter......
Also, something to consider with this. I disallow buyers with negative feedback
to buy from my store. I think this is a general wise practice, I do not know
if the current systems allows buyers with negative feedback to even contact me.
But maybe a way to open up that line of communication. To encourage the buyer
to contact the seller to see if they will sell to them, and a way for a seller
to allow a particular buyer by username to buy from them without having to change
their settings to allow for all negative feedback buyers.

I think your idea has merit, as there are several sellers who have stop listed
me, and there is one that I'd love to buy several items from, but obviously
I can't.
I have no idea as to why I'd been stop listed, except that I do remember
one stopping me due to the fact that I asked a question, and because of that,
I'd been listed.

Maybe the suggestion could be modified to have a dropdown list with reasons visible
to the stoplisted buyer like:
Feedback
Business concern
Non-business concern
Asks too many questions
Reportedly quick to file chargebacks
BL Catalog disagreement
It's complicated
I'm concerned

This is an example of something not being transitive.
Same goes for this quote (well-known in Dutch politics):
I fit in my coat.
My coat fits in my briefcase.
Ergo, I fit in my briefcase.
Niek.
|
What does this have to do with Dutch politics?
|
Can the politicians fit in a briefcase?

| I'd like to put forth another suggestion, on this fine Saturday morning,
before we head out for the day.
Allowing the stoplisting member to open-up comms, or close if
desired.

Hey there Marc
Foster was just acknowledging my bonafide brain fart. I wish one of you two
had let me know earlier, as I feel this is an important issue.
Confession time guys: I have a slight case of what the Swedes call ord blinda.
I occasionally reverse words and letters in my head. This coupled with the fact
I don't spell-check or often proofread. I felt at one time: ord blinda. How
bad could it be if King Carl Gustav the sixth-tenth of Sweden has it? That is
until I meet the dude and started to learn more about him
|
Excuse me Swede, but what brain fart are you talking about. I did not notice
any. Or maybe I am the one with a brain fart? Hmmm???
No, really, uncoded my post reads: "It got my vote a long time ago." I wasn't
aware of your "ord blinda" thingamajig. My daughter and I used this code this
morning and I just used it again in the spirit of fun.
Speaking of fun... Did you hear the joke about the Swede who went hunting and
came upon some tracks in the woods? He followed them into a cave and the next
day the local newspaper read: "Hunter Hit By Train in Tunnel".
Then there is the one about the Dane, Swede and Norwegian who were caught trespassing
in the territory of a rival claim. The chief told them they had to be punished
by being whipped for 20 lashes. But because he was in a good mood after spending
an evening with beer and his prized wench, the chief told them they could put
anything they wanted on their backs. The Dane went first and asked to have havarti
cheese smeared on his back with cold Carlsberg beer poured over the top. After
being whipped, the Dane was carried away unconscious. The Swede was next. He
snorted with contempt at the Dane and loudly said "I don't need anything!"
True to his word, the Swede endured the lashings with barely an audible grunt
before unsteadily being walked back to the chief. The Norwegian was then asked
what he wanted on his back. He pointed at the Swede and said "him".
