Superlots are a great way to list multiple items for sale together. However,
superlots are confusing and difficult for many to bother setting up. To help
increase the usage of superlots and avoid misunderstandings with buyers regarding
what items do or do not go together, I suggest that BrickLink add pre-set
system generated superlots. These superlot templates would be created by contributors
to the BL catalog. Thus, for example, when adding a collectible minifigure to
the BL catalog, the submitter can also have the option to submit a superlot that
others can use to sell that minifigure with accessories as a superlot. Similar
superlots can be proposed for commonly paired items - like windows and glass,
window/door frames and their matching window or door, right and left wedges,
etc. When listing these items for sale in one shop, BL can simply offer sellers
the option of listing in an already existing system generated superlot. Just
fill in the blanks for quantity and price.

Don't they have this feature to some degree with wheels and tires?

My understanding is that wheels and tires are sometimes listed as complete assemblies
where there is only one price for the entire assembly - NOT separate prices for
each item. This suggestion would allow sellers to price each item separately
AND have each item separately searchable by buyers. It would also generate separate
Price Guide data for each item.

The ONLY thing this suggestion does is have optional superlot templates already
set up for items that commonly go together. It simply replaces the need for sellers
to manually set up these templates themselves.

Complete assemblies are more akin to my original suggestion, having minifigs
with accessories listed as variants of the base versions.

Now that you mention it, it makes even more sense because we're already doing
it with other items.

But the superlot idea might actually get some traction because it won't mess
up the existing catalog or change the rules.

I understand it for non-CMF, but would this be any different to the complete
set for CMFs? Or are you envisaging people listing the figure and the accessories,
but not the tile/plate/stand.

Or would it mean that CMF sets without the (ripped and damaged) package
should no longer be listed as complete, but as superlots like this?

Unlike a set or complete assembly, the difference with a superlot is that the
items are separately listed, priced, searchable and input into the Price Guide.
For the collectible minifigures, I could envision two optional superlot templates
- one for the figure and accessory, and the other for the figure, accessory and
stand.

No. The CMF sets should still be available as an option. The goals are to make
buyers find these items more easily, easier for the seller to list things together,
and reduce buyer misunderstanding and disappointment.

That was my first thought. I completely support the idea, but using it for CMFs
is the worst example. Why compound an already confusing situation by adding
yet another way to list CMFs??

Nevertheless, I think it's be great, not just for windows/doors/etc, but
for bigger assemblies within sets that people might want to list separately,
like Gringotts from Diagon Alley, the movie theater from Town Plan, vehicles
from super hero sets, Emerald Night carriages, or even 2nd floors from Modular
Buildings.

Having these pre-defined - and with their own Price Guide info, and searchable
by any component part - would be really nice.

I made similar suggestion ages ago, it probably pre-dated non-expiring suggestions
change though.
