Our old eyes find identification of some of the obscure Lego colors very difficult.
The samples shown on-line are helpful, but every computer screen in the world
renders colors differently unless they are calibrated.

My suggestion would be for someone to offer a color sample set using the Pantone
Color Matching system for all available Lego colors. Perhaps then the Pantone
number could be included on the color page on this site. This would eliminate
confusion on both ends of a transaction and make color identification much easier.

Any suggestions/comments?

People have been making their own color charts with tiles, bricks, etc.

However, I find that even specific colors come in color variations like the new
and old white and yellow in particular. Bricklink doesn't differentiate between
these two colors, but the difference is very clear in plain old daylight, especially
when put side by side.

I would like to know if there are sellers that note this difference in the item's
comments.

Thanks for your reply. I see you have differentiated the yellow with naming the
"new" yellow as "pale yellow". I was thinking about calling them "cool" and "warm"
white or yellow, as that is what I see them as. I am not looking forward to
differentiating them, but if feel like it would only be fair to buyers to know
what they are getting, especially if they are buying a bunch of yellow parts
to put together and wanting to have them look evenly colored, even if TLG doesn't
care about being consistent.

I sincerely doubt this zero feedback user will stop. Asking nicely won't
help. Shutting down their account is the only option.

Is the white a new color now?
Or is it just that there's variance in teh shade?

Definitely a variance in shade. The difference in white is a lot more subtle
than in the yellow. Pretty much all new the white parts are a lot more cool in
color than the older ones, which look warmer. The old ones are also less transparent
when held up to the light. The new ones have transparency in letting some light
through due to less color pigment used in the production.

I found some of these warmer white pieces from

Gear No: 850423 Name: Minifigure Presentation Boxes
*
850423 (Inv) Minifigure Presentation Boxes
Gear: Storage
which is a 2012 item,
but not sure how old the parts were prior to kit assembly. All the new sets that
I parted out in the past 6+ months now have that new white.

I wouldnt necessarily call the new white cooler or more subtle a difference in
shade, its more a " Brilliant White " as it is a lot brighter than the older
" creamy " white,
As with the yellow, the new colour is not as rich and deep as the old one so
thats why I choose to call it pale yellow in my description. ( These yellow parts
were all from new super hero sets )

The differences between multiple parts that TLC makes in the "same color" are
greater than the differences between people's monitors.
