| Is it possible to change the Bricklink system, such that COMPLETE for used sets
is ONLY displayed in case if only ALL parts, ALL extra parts, ALL original instructions,
ALL original gear and the original BOX are included?
If any of these are not included the status would automatically be set to INCOMPLETE!

Then there will be only a few sets marked as complete.
I think the definition as it is now is okay.
Description should clarify if there is instructions and or box present.

| How about "inventory complete" and "as Retail packaging" complete
"as retail packaging" would have to be everything
"inv complete" would be minimum of the bricks, possibly with instructions..
personally i do think something needs changing as the price-guides are misleading

Agreed, but the future Bricklink shoud have some checkboxes to indicate subconditions
Complete set of bricks Y/N
All Minifigs Y/N
All stickers Y/N
Buildinginstruction Y/N
Box Y/N
These questions should be answered while listing and the system should classify
automaticly with indications in the priceguide:
C M S BI BOX
Y Y Y N N -- would be complete
or
N Y Y Y N -- would be incomplete
or
Y Y N Y Y -- would be incomplete
offcourse with little color indications to make it easy.
This would help to chose when buying used sets
And the priceguide would reflect the presence of all subconditions so that sellers
can have a better guideline.
But NO to current suggestion (sorry OP)

actually easier: just checkboxes while listing -- listing would be set appropriatly
by Bricklink according to the answers indicated by lister... No 'cheats'

I do like Eric's suggestion in regards the check boxes for the set listings.
There has been many a time that I have searched for a set, and have had to wade
through the incomplete listings to find those that have the instructions and
set parts without the minifigs, because the minifigs are not needed by me as
I only want the parts because the set is cheaper that way.
So, little check boxes for the sellers is a GREAT guide for those who are selling
sets that have parts missing.
However, in regards to the minifigs being included, well, I sold a Market Street
set, which had no instructions, and 1 minifig missing (out of 3), which means
that the check box for that will be of no use.
Could BrickLink 2 have check boxes for the set's individual minifigs?
That way, we could then see if 'that all important minifig' was missing or not...

Well I object to that
Some people list their sets without figs. So NO figs...
If not all figs are present: NO checkbox, and seller can indicate in his desription
the ones that are present (or missing).
The main idea is to have a clear overview (and if not all figs are present, it
is not cpmplete anyway). Some sets have 10-12 minifigs, you can't expect a checkbox
for all of them...
In your case, nothing would have prevented to list the set without minifigs (why
not sell them seperatly then) or simply stated in the description. Or you could
have bought the missing fig

I was intending to buy the missing 'fig, but the buyer told me that he was not
fussed if it was missing or not as he just wanted the be able to build the set!
Any way, I'm not fussed if you object , but you are right as to that some sets
have a high number of 'figs and I was thinking that it would be awkward to have
check boxes for that many...
Regardless, your idea does have merit, and I hope that BL2 does have soemthing
like this in place...

Your listing of is listed as complete yet you state: "Super Kart No
box, stickers applied, instructions have punch holes"

I think that people need to not list stuff as complete if its not. I see all
the time, set listed as complete but its missing all the figs. Or says complete
and in the note missing 2 pieces. If its missing 2 pieces how is it complete????
|
If you see it, you can report it...
|
My thoughts for complete.
|
Not only yours
And the guidelines are also there...
sellers choice.
| Unless the extra parts are for another build using the set. Kinda
like the 3 in 1 types.
|
Those are part of 'regular'
| But if you just got a extra 1x1 black tile then no.
box no.
all parts yes! including all figs (figs also complete).
instructions yes!
|
No, some people don't mind using the I-net in stead of an expensive BI (Market
street, UCS sets etc.)It was changed about 2 years ago, no need to turn backwards...
Definatly! But questions rises with 'spare' stickers that are not used (alternate
stickers for the set).
|
If it came with a gear then yes! Like the soccer set I have, came with set and
a ball.
|
No,it still includes cards, posters etc and they are not used to build the sets
(and I'm sure IA's are working on that).
|
Also used vs new. If you built it ITS NOT NEW! I'm not a crazy freak about if
something has a scratch on it or a finger print it happens and doesn't really
bother me. But don't sell a new set thats used! Its only new if you opened it,
sorted it, and NEVER USED THE PARTS TO BUILD. Simple to me, but I see a lot of
these for sale as well.
|
Report them...

You ever notice how when someone offers their own thoughts, they "put in their
two cents' worth", and when someone requests ideas from someone else, they offer
"a penny for your thoughts."
That disparity in the perceived value of ideas is the basis of free market capitalism.
Or something.

From: http://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=102
In addition to condition (New/Used), sets also have a sub-condition to indicate
whether the set is complete or incomplete.
New Sets
(without sub-condition) are assumed to be Sealed unless otherwise stated in the
description.
Sealed - Set is brand new, with unopened factory seals intact, all inner bags
and contents presumably sealed, intact, complete and untampered with as shipped
by the manufacturer. Seller cannot guarantee that a sealed set is complete.
Complete - Contents are brand new and may have been removed from their plastic
bags and handled for inventorying purposes only. Includes all contents that
originally came with set including extra parts, stickers, instructions (if any)
and original box/packaging.
Incomplete - Contents are brand new and may have been removed from their plastic
bags and handled for inventorying purposes or during the removal of items from
the set. Set is missing some contents, instructions or original box/packaging.
Description should state what exactly is missing.
Used Sets - The set has been opened, inner bags are no longer intact and or was
previously built. If the parts do show excessive wear, discoloration, excessive
scratches, other marks, etc. this should be noted, as well.
(without sub-condition) should indicate in the description if any contents are
missing.
Complete - Set contains all parts necessary to build all of the models (including
alternate models) in the instructions but does not have to contain the original
box/packaging and/or extra parts. If the set is missing instructions, the description
must state so. If the set did not come with instructions then the set should
include all parts listed in the picture inventory which is located on the box
or bucket. The set must include all original stickers used on the model either
still on the sticker sheet or applied.
Incomplete - Set is missing some contents. Description should state what exactly
is missing.
