Hi Guys.

Today I suggest a Save Shopping Cart feature because if you are shopping about
and want to buy something but cant afford it now, you would want to keep that
shopping cart for later. Give some comments and vote please

If you do not close your browser, it will keep your items in the cart for a few
days I believe. If you need longer than that, the items may be sold by then.
Best to create a wanted list for those items. You can then name the wanted list
the store name.

It is save the contents of store cart. Nothing to do with entering the legally
binding contract. You know what you want from a certain store, I want to save
the contents list for another day. The main reason this came about is I need
a few bits for a small MOC but can't afford atm.

Someone else could buy the parts instantly.
Add the parts to a wantlist untill you can afford them.

How about shopping only when you have the money?

Sometimes, what you want, costs more than what you can currently afford.

Items in a basket are still visible in a sellers inventory and can be bought
from out of your shopping basket by someone else.

Create a wanted list.

I voted yes. With the caveat that the items do not get tied up. When you go
back to the store, the cart will be updated based on current inventory. This
is how LEGO does it and I appreciate it.

Don't think TLG has 105.000.000 listed on their website, if every buyer (200.000)
puts 100 items in cart and 'saves' it, I don't think you and I will be able to
communicate on the forum because the servers would not be able to follow on it

The major reason for NOT keeping 'alive' carts is very simply:

If I listed a cafe corner 3 years ago at $300 (expensive back then) and you put
it cart. I slowly adapt my price with the market flow and now have it at $800
BUT YOU still have it in your cart at $300 Because that is exactly what the
BL system does when you have something in cart (seller can change his price,
but for you the price remains the same), and that is exactly the reason 'carts'
are cleared...
And that is exactly the reason why TLG (and other selling websites) say 'sorry,
items not available anymore'...
And that is exactly the reason why this will never be implemented (Just guessing,
but I'm quite confident)

I have to vote no on this.

Sounds like a 'layaway' plan? I am against it. If you don't have the money,
don't buy it. All you are doing is 'blocking' or preventing someone else to
buy the items. No matter if it is 12hrs or one week by saving the items in the
shopping cart. Sort of the feeling of, "I want these, back off of my cart, this
my cart... hoarding all these parts until I get my money into my Paypal account."

Also it prevents BL seller to make a sale right away or if you change your mind
and remove some items. It might be a lost sale to a BL seller.

AFOL's to act like kids in a BL store. Crying or stomping around. "Mine! Mine!
Mine! I want this! Can I get this and this?"

I already posted this

I have voted yes to yours, but loads of people didn't like it on my thread. Just
to be clear, I (before), and templehill now (I think) are not suggesting that
the items should be reserved, only that you can leave them in your cart and make
sure they're there for next time as long as someone else doesn't buy them. Any
that get bought could be put at the bottom with a note, like what happens when
something gets bought while you're doing checkout for it.

I like the suggestion as a tool to save information what nicely priced order-filler
bricks some store has. When I go into some store based on my wanted list, I usually
browse their inventory, and add to cart all kinds of useful things I think are
reasonably/cheaply priced, to get a kind of overall picture what I would order
if I were to actually place an order in that store. But I might not want to place
the order just then, also depending on how big a cart I end up with.

I think the suggestion should be modified to say only the list of items in cart
and NOT their prices will be saved, since there really shouln't be a tool for
buyers to lock sellers' prices for indefinite amount of time.

I don't really understand where the opposing opinions based on "blocking other
buyers" or "reserving parts" come from. Having something in cart is not blocking
anybody from adding the same item and going to checkout quicker as far as I know.

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I have recently started to see a great "need"
in my buying habits for a change in the current cart system. I think some changes
could be made that would benefit the buyer and thus Bricklink in the long run.

I think that a buyer should be able to select how long their carts will stay
active 1 day or 1 year. The current system of 2 days (I think 2) is just plain
annoying.
I think that carts should refresh at the end of every day. This will keep
buyers from claiming an item days or months later at an old price, and it will
also update shopping cart quantity based on what the store has sold.

I would like to see the new system include your cart value in each shop that
you have items in your cart, and maybe just for kicks a drop down menu that would
quickly show the items that are in that cart.

I know that some are greatly concerned with tying up a sellers inventory. But
placing an item in your cart does not tie up the items. I remember a while back
someone put a seller's entire store in their cart and showed it to him as proof
that it did not pull it from his inventory.

Just adding my 2 cents on the subject,
Katie

Either that, or some sort of buy-later or wish list (related to that specific
store) would really have saved my hand a LOT of mouse work this week.
I know I am limited, in how much mouse work I will be able to do, for the remainder
of my life.

Often I am in a store, but it does not have enough of what I need, so I don't
buy.
But then I find I need another part, and maybe that will end up being enough.

Other times I get back to a cart, a day (or two) later, and see nothing in it
that I need, wondering why I have that cart. I empty it. But sometimes the
part I was really after (most wanted), has been automatically removed, but is
still in the store.
