Hi there,

i want to suggest a function regarding wanted lists and the way they work with
the "by shop" function. if i use the show wanted items by shop function sorted
by unique lots in most cases i'm searching the resulting shops just to find out
that a couple of the mandatory items i really wanted to have included in an order
for that wanted list are missing.

Example: Fictive Wanted List with 100 Lots (10 of them are mandatory for completing
the build.

Fictive "by Shop" Result

SHOP A(1798) Canada 66 (59) 5,755 ~EUR 1.76
SHOP B(5445) USA 98 (54) 30,293 ~EUR 105.73
SHOP C(6018) USA 81 (54) 42,349 ~EUR 5.64
SHOP D(3334) Canada 190 (54)13,661 ~EUR 2.11

Fictive manuel Search Result in the Shops:

SHOP A: 59 Lots i need only 7 of my mandatory lots
SHOP B: 54 Lots i need only 2 of my mandatory lots
SHOP C: 54 Lots i need only 5 of my mandatory lots
SHOP D: 54 Lots i need only 8 of my mandatory lots

If there would be checkboxes for the items on my wanted list which would mark
this lot as mandatory for the "by shop" function and an additional sort option
"sort by mandatory lots" would be included this would be a really timesaving
issue.

I know that one can have maybe 2 wanted lists: one for the mandatory and one
for the "optional" items but if you have a couple of sets missing items this
is really cumbersome.

I 'think' (therefore I am) that you could probably do this by putting 'mandatory'
items in its own list. Search on that list, go into the shop with the most and
then use that shop to search all the other wanted lists.

What is cumbersome about having 2 wanted lists? (trying to understand the suggestion)

thats right 2 lists for one set (i prefere to have an own wanted list for each
set which i manage in separate files in brickstore, a wanted list for each set
simply allows me to complete one set faster) but what about 20 sets with missing
parts, that would be 40 lists instead

I enter the setnumber in the remarksfield of the mandatory wantlist.

ok thanks for this advice, i will give it a try. so 1 mandatory list and then
the set lists

but this is still not reflecting the suggested behavior: "today i want to complete
the essential elemenents on set lets check this out on bricklink with my
mandatory list" - shops with unique lots on that list but my set parts
are not guaranteed to be included or sorted to be at pole positions

sorry for protecting my idea but i still think that it would be a usefull function
to bring buyer and seller together more easily with moderate implementation effort
(one checkbox for items on the wanted list and a new filter for the "by shop"
function utilizing the checkbox value)

Ah okay now I understand. Here's how I solve the problem:

Wanted list A with 20 parts. I visit the list by selecting it in the dropdown,
click "show all", then use the "query by store" checkbox for the parts I most
want in the list, that HAVE to be there in order for me to place an order.

So say I select 5 out of the 20 parts. Then when I hit the submit button, it
shows me the by shop screen with the sellers who have the most lots(unique) off
of my list. I choose the ones that have the most (5/5, 4/5) and compare those
ones first, and then from within the specific store, I can look for the other
items on the wanted list as well.

Conversely if you want to look for all 20, then just go to the by shop page and
select only that wanted list.

Hope that makes sense and helps you find what you're looking for!

thx for this great advice, but as a tried this out instantly i realized that
this only works for items in one category, if i want to do this for parts, minifigs
and instructions simultaneous there is no "show all" link/button which covers
all categories :/ (or maybe i am to blind to see ^^)

So say I select 5 out of the 20 parts. Then when I hit the submit button, it
shows me the by shop screen with the sellers who have the most lots(unique) off

Yes that is the only limitation I know of.
Perhaps admin might consider this an easier change than your original suggestion?
