I would posit that the problem isn't with the process being overly complicated
but with the users themselves. Most are simply too lazy to read anything, and
couple that with the managements insistence on pandering to those glued to their
phones as opposed to using a proper computer and that accounts for 90%+ of the
issues with Buyers claiming to have problems doing something on here. My experience
anyway.

This may be the case to an extent but if we're to accept that as the reason
then all the more reason to simplify and change the process. The thing is I'm
dealing with a newish buyer anyway and so the whole site to them no doubt already
looks quite complex. The other thing is from their point of view they just want
to order what they need. They don't want to read lots of processes, read
store terms or hunt around for links and so I feel they have every right to be
lazy in that respect and I think if Bricklink wants more people shopping here
then things overall need to be simplified.

For starters why is it you can cancel an order without a customers approval but
your can't amend an order without their approval?

Even if I've made a stock oversight and its my own fault. I still have to
make the change to the order regardless of whether the customer approves or not?
Therefore why bother having to inconvenience the customer even further with having
to approve/accept the change. The process for the customer should be simple,
either they accept the changes I've made to the order or we agree to cancel
the order in its entirety there is no need for them to need to hunt down a link
to approve anything?

Or approach it differently and don't bother the buyer at all:

- you were offering the items for sale and according to TOS had them in hand
- you made the stock oversight if you accidentally didn't have them in hand
- you are well versed on Bricklink and can easily buy the missing parts
- you can simply inform the buyer that a slight delay may occur because you are
doing your best to provide them with the quality parts that they expect of you
- and you ship out the order complete.

For the other Series, AFAIK they are not yet in the stage that prices have been

  Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a wide variety of minifigures, could be more pieces of
the same model, but mostly I want a lot for a project (male, female, different
jobs etc) it's tedious to search to find a store that has a lot of pieces
and at a price that's not too high (ideally 1-2 USD max per piece)

Also I'm in Romania so a seller in the EU would be great

Do you have any tips on how to better search for what I'm looking for?

In short, built a wanted list of all figures you might find interesting and set
a max price on each.

I would start by downloading the catalog at https://www.bricklink.com/catalogDownload.asp?utm_content=subnav
Secondly, use a spreadsheet like Excel to filter the Duplo figures you are potentially
interested in, set a max price and transform your list into a wanted list xml.
Then upload the xml in Bricklink and use the various wanted list search and buy
functions.

All Tires in Bricklink have the same problem now:

1) When mated to a Wheel, the tire always ends up on a corner of the "contact
patch" (the greenish box showing the size of the tire, rather than staying
on a side.

2) Any attempt to rotate the tire to a side results in all three rotation arrows
activating, and cause the entire model to rotate, regardless of which arrow is
used.

3) It is impossible to screenshot any of this, as any attempt to screenshot results
in the arrows being switched off.

This needs to be fixed yesterday.

You are on the wrong forum for this question as you are referring to Studio (the
3D modelling app), not Bricklink (the marketplace). See https://forum.bricklink.com

Most likely, you simply have turned the snap option off. This happens occasionally
to the best of people At the very least, at my end tires still do snap on
wheels. Also, this is a property of each part individually, so all wheel-tire
combinations failing at once is unlikely.

The symptoms you describe all match the turned off snap option. Objects not having
connected (1) always result in the rotation tool being shown instead of the hinge
tool (2) and as for screenshots (3), hitting the [PrintScreen] button should
capture the arrows as well.

Anyway, search the Studio forum.

They have been renamed to remove the "with groove" from the modern part
(well, 40 years old, but non-vintage part), and also renumbered from 3069b to
3069 and so on, so that the BL number correctly references the number that has
been used for about four decades and is not influenced by a part that hasn't
been produced for almost half a century.

3070a should actually be 3070 and 3070 should be 3070a. The same with 3069/3069a.
3070a has been around since 1965, 3070 only since 1972. 3 letters would also
be saved.
But what can you ask of the catalogue administrators in the meantime...

According to Russell, the 3069b and 3070b were never the grooved variety but
have always been the umbrella entity. The chosen renumbering reflects that.

Not sure in which topic this would fit, but I would like to make the following
request/suggestion:

Would it be possible to have the colour already selected if a piece is chosen
from the colour guide.

For example I am in the colour guide for medium blue and searching for a particular
slope. When I find the slope I have and want to put in my inventory I select
the picture and I am linked to the page of that piece. I would like that page
to open up with the colour already selected to save a step. Is that possible?
This would save me a fair amount of time when entering pieces.

Would this be helpful to anyone else?

Evan

It has been asked years ago but somehow was never acknowledged nor implemented
whilst this most likely is very easy to fix. All it takes is adding a parameter
to the hyperlinks on the colour guide page.

Similarly, it would be great if they could do the same adding of the colour code
to the image references so the relevant colour image is shown and not the default
colour.

This would be very much low hanging fruit and an easy win. If only they were
not afraid to touch the legacy code.

Thanks

You should put the "I bought the set sealed when it was released" line
into that notes field.

For as long as alternate IDs are in the database.

The site can be smart and recognize them when it reads them in older files.

Yes, the field (as we see it on the part pages) is simple text and would need
to be normalized (and reversed: alt ID » correct ID/part, for now it’s part »
alt ID).

But the site already knows how to convert from LDraw and LXF files.  So there’s
already a conversion table (or two) somewhere to convert LDraw’s IDs and LDD’s
IDs to BL’s IDs.

And while they are at it, add XML as a full-citizen file format, like LDR, LXF,
BSX: one that can be uploaded as a file, not copy-pasted.

In Selling, Bgwayman writes:
I have been parting out sets to add to my store inventory lately and using a
method I found in a forum message to easily find costs of parts. I'd love
if BrickLink had a feature that could automatically input individual part costs,
rather than having to do it by hand, but I'm not aware of such a feature.
The message I found suggested I use a Part-Out Value to Price Paid ratio and
divide my part values by that ratio to try to come up with what I actually paid
for each piece. However, that value cannot be correct, as it is based on the
market price of the pieces and can fluctuate, giving an inaccurate measure.

So I came up with a rather simple formula to find the value of each piece (going
one lot at a time). In so doing, I can write down the part cost of lots with
1 piece, 2 pieces, etc., then reference this when parting out sets. Hopefully
this can be done automatically in the future for parting out sets (a change I
think would be far better for simplification of BrickLink). In the mean time,
I'll just use a spreadsheet or calculator and use this formula:

Individual Part Cost: P
Number of Parts in Set: t
Number of parts Per Lot: L
Price Paid for Set: s

P = ((L/t)*s)/L

Thus, I can find the definitive price of a piece, regardless of lot size.

TL;DR: What methods do sellers usually use to find part out cost values and is
there an easier way by which I can determine my part costs?

Please do your math again. Your formula corresponds to just dividing the set
price by the number of parts (P=s/t) and you surely don't want simplify that
far.

Use the catalog download page (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogDownload.asp)
to download a list of all part numbers, do some Excel trickery (filters + string
concatenation only) and thus transform it into an xml to upload a wanted list.

Once you have your wanted list, you can find the top 20 parts for sale for each

Thoughts are appreciated.

Outsource the building to some responsible children. They get the joy of building
sets with more LEGO than they've ever seen and will have fun doing so. They
might even help with unbuilding and preparing for packing. A reward like a LEGO

yes

So then the offsite payment was not a valid payment as it included tax which
was not to be paid to you.

The only way forward is:
(1) to refund the payment fully
(2) to tell the customer to pay again, but this time through the OnSite link
only
(3) to change your templates so that customers won't pay you offsite by mistake
(have a different e-mail address for PayPal)

And finally, enjoy the lesson learned though be it the hard way.

Bricklink category?
Roughly speaking, there are 100 articles in the category, each of which exists
in a certain number of colors. How can I find out the total number of unique
SKU-color combinations for a category? Thank you!

That all depends on how you define 'exists'.

The Bricklink catalogue lists 'known' meaning that the part appears in
sets in that colour.

You could download the catalog to find out all part numbers, but that would not
tell you all the known colours. See https://www.bricklink.com/catalogDownload.asp

You could download the PCC catalog to find out all combinations that we know
a PCC for, but that would not tell you the known colours of older parts nor the
part that we do not know the PCC for.

When you use Studio, you could consult the downloaded BricklinkMetaData that
Studio caches. This includes the price and colour availability for the parts
known to Studio.

Finally, you could go the other way round and start with the colour (https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp)
and there the number of distinct known or available parts for each colour is
listed.

This mask came to me from a guy here in NZ, who owned it since he was a kid.
His parents owned a toy shop in the 2000s, which might be relevant. He claims
he never painted, dyed, or otherwise modified this piece, and sold it to me as
a sundamaged white Hau. I have no clue what it is.

Theory 1: Prototype/Test Tan Hau
Counterpoint: the mask is white underneath, note the small scratches around the
mouth stud showing white plastic.

Theory 2: Sun Damage
Counterpoint: the colouration is perfect. No inconsistency whatsoever, all facets
are equally tan. Coverage is also perfect, even inside the mouth stud, all facets
of the grills, the inside of the mouth hole etc.

Theory 3: Modified white Hau
Counterpoint: sole previous owner is just as confused as I am, and genuinely
believed it was just sun damaged. He had no idea how said damage would have occurred,
he just assumed it was once white and copped some sun.

Help?

What is often called 'sun damage' is not actually caused by the UV light
in sun beams, although might help to speed up the process. It is a chemical change
of the plastic or additives inside the plastic itself and may show throughout
the part. So theory 2 sounds about right.

I see this every day in my kitchen: only a year after buying, my white microwave
started showing a tan front and a white button whilst before they were the same.
Both plastics must have different composition and age differently.
