  Hello,
I have recently bought a Jabba's skiff lego set

Set No: 6210 Name: Jabba's Sail Barge

747 Parts, 8 Minifigs, 2006
Sets: Star Wars: Star Wars Episode 4/5/6

as complete by the seller. I built it and three important pieces (Plate, Modified
8 x 8 with Grille and Hole in Center, code 4299023), plus a few tiny ones, were
replaced or missing. I have contacted the seller that told me that Lego changes
parts in some countries and that's why those pieces are different. I have
looked around and not seen any cases or reason for this, can you let me know
what I am eligible to do about this?

Thank you very much for the help.

You can look at the set inventory here: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=6210-1

The “Alternate” sections lists the parts that have been found in genuine sets
(the number/colour on the right shows which parts have been replaced by which).
For instance, the 3x

I've not had the pleasure in collecting this part yet but after
seeing a review it crossed my mind that the axle/pin hole center is not a full
stud in thickness. Would this be correct? I interpreted it as a half a stud thinkness
while the outside is the typical bevel gear thinkness of one stud?

I’m not sure it should really be called a “pin hole”: it’s the same diameter
(and I’m sure it’s “in System”) but the part is used with the new differential

Looking for an insight as to how train companies would look at an application

Asking because there are adverts asking for people who wish to retrain ( no pun

Wouldn’t do in France: drivers retire early.

That’s us being socialists but I’m not sure it’s not a safety measure too.

Anyway, which company would want to pay to train an employee that wouldn’t be
“useful” for many years?

Well, it doesn’t work for “tooth”/”teeth” but that’s still handy for many plurals

If the number you see on the piece doesn't find the item here on BL or an
item doesn't appear showing this number as an alternative one to the one
listed on BL then try the number you have with an additional * on the end, usually
works.

To complete this answer:

— The “c01” bit is to indicate that’s it’s a Composite part: it’s made of subparts
(and might be taken apart).

— A “p01” bit indicates a pattern (“p01” for common/old numbering, “pb01” for
BL-only numbering, “px01” for numbers that come other catalogues).

So, as soon as you have a complex part or a multi-coloured or stickered part,
use “123*” instead of only “123”.

  Hi,

The Color Guide download shows Black as RGB 212121 and Dark Brown as 510000

This makes Dark Brown darker than Black

If you convert the colours to HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness), or if
you convert them to grayscale (which gives the same results), you’ll see Black
has a lightness of 0.129 while Dark Brown has a lightness of 0.159.
That means Dark Brown is lighter than Black.

I would expect Black to be RGB 000000

Why is that?

#000000 is pure black. No object ever is pure black.

In My Own Creation, Howard1951 writes:
designing a model to the scale of a LEGO minifigure

If I am designing a model from a monument that is 205 feet tall by 51 feet square
and I want to use the LEGO Minifigures in the model. How many "2x4 bricks" would
equal the height and width of a side?
I am hoping to scale it as "height of minifigure" would be equal to six (6) feet.
So that would mean the model would be thirty-four (34) Minifigures high by eight
and a half (8.5) Minifigures wide (each side). So with these numbers could someone
clue me in on how many bricks (2 x 4) would be required for the height and the
sides?
Once I have these numbers I would do some recalculating so that I would use plates
and bricks of different lengths (1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 2x2, 2x3, 2x4) and colors in
building the model.
I have been trying to figure a scale that would have been; one (1) stud would
equal one (1) foot. But I am getting bewildered in trying to work with that
scale.
So if someone could help me, I would be grateful.

Well, the minifig scale is around 1:36 to 1:42 (depending on how tall you take
a minifigure or if you even take its height as a scale), or, as you surmised,
around 1 stud = 1 ft¹.

(¹ A foot being 30.48cm and a stud 0.8cm, 1 stud = 1 ft is a 1:38.1 scale.)

So, 1ft : 1 stud makes your building 51 studs x 51 studs x 171 bricks.

171 bricks because 205 ft : 205 studs = (205*5/6 =) 171 bricks
And 5/6 because there are 6 studs for 5 bricks, or 5 plates to 2 studs (= 5/3
bricks to 2 studs).

Now, there’s a bit of a problem with using a minifigure as if it were a mini-human:
A minifigure height is a bit more than 4 bricks (bald, 4⅓ with hair).
A minifigure girth² is a bit less that 6 studs (the circumference of a 1x2 brick).
And 6 studs = 5 bricks.
That means a minifigure’s girth is 1.25 times its height. Not a healthy proportion
for a human.

(² With these proportions, I think we can call it a “girth,” not a waistline
)

That leads to many “impressions of wrongness”: too small objects if you take
the height to be 6ft and too big if you follow a minifigure-width scale.

That makes minifigures seem either lost or too fat in pure minifigure scale.

That’s why LEGO models rarely use a pure minifigure scale: houses with one or
two room per floor, castles with sentry-boxes instead of multi-floor towers,
etc.

Hmm I didn't consider different frog species.. Last month I had trouble
sleeping because the frogs in the street are ridiculously loud at night. They're
all in the water. Whenever I come near a ditch the sound is just crazy. I see
frogs in the water 9 times out of 10, so to me they're water animals.

Maybe that’s also because you mostly see them when they are being obvious: when
they call to each others and meet in the “dating” ponds. Otherwise they don’t
make noise nor do they move much from their home.

   But
I guess we will need a biologist to identify the exact species of the Lego frog
before we can make a definitive decision

Hmm, rana plastica or rana legoensis?

Not sure if you have that in Dutch (it appears gender is complicated in Dutch
grammar) but in French, grenouille (frog) is feminine and crapaud (toad) is masculine,
so little kids often mistake them for female and male of the same species. Same
with souris (mouse, f.) and rat (m.).

In Buying, loggedin writes:
  Hi,

Hi and welcome,

I am trying to replace some missing parts from one of my sets.

I have 'parted out', and then used easy buy.

Almost all of the parts are available from one store, apart from five parts (2
x bodies, 2 x heads and 1 x hat).

These parts are all appearing in available parts from other sellers (in my country
(UK)), so I'm unsure why it hasn't allocated these as additional stores
to buy from.

Apologies if this is an obvious question, this will be my first time ordering
from here.

EasyBuy is weird… but are the parts for sale the exact same as the one you have
in your Wanted List (colour, condition (New/Used), variant)?

Otherwise, I’d advise using the Buy page and Auto-select (for starters and for
the rarer parts, then fine tune one store at a time).

The Buy page also has more features (filters) than EasyBuy.

Here’s my copy-paste blob on how the Buy page works:

On the left of the Buy page ( https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page ),
there’s the list of your Wanted Lists.
It’s actually a two-tabs pane, one with only WL names and checkboxes, “Wanted
Lists,” and one with the WL AND their items “Wanted Items.”

Click “Wanted Items.”
It shows all your lists and their items (you will need to “expand” the WLs by
clicking on the little arrow right to their names).
Below each item, the wanted quantity is shown.

Now on the right pane (the stores):

If you click on a store name, the store is opened in a new browser tab
(you can then check their terms and other items).

If you click around a store name, the quantity for each item is changed
from “N” to “n/N”, indicating how many of each item that store has.
(It can take a while (10s) when the site is slooowww.)

If you select a store or use Auto-select to select several stores (but without
creating the carts yet), the items “disappear” from the list or their quantities
are changed. So the remaining / missing / not found items are still there..

See https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1063752 for pictures.

for trading you cannot all do things the same way. Most traders seem reasonable
people on here - large or small - and I say good luck to everyone who wants to
buy or sell or use the forum. Just, please, remember how we all started. We
loved Lego. Let us not lose sight of that or stop enjoying it. If I no longer
enjoyed my time on here I would simply leave. No discussion, no rant, no repercussions
- just go and find enjoyment some other way.
