I was the kind of person that never wanted instant checkout to be implemented
here in BL. I thought it would bring problems, overpaying or underpaying,
and also would stop a way of communication with my buyers. I really like to communicate
with them.

However, I was recently invited to test out another Lego selling website that
is under production. This site in particular has instant checkout implemented.
Well, after receiving an order today... I was thoroughly impressed by how well
it worked.

When setting up your store, it requires you to add your shipping methods, either
by weight bands or price bands. On countries where you have dimension limits,
that could be hard to implement. Anyways, after some thinking, this would be
my solution.

First, the simplest things would be to add weight ranges from the cart (you'd
need to weight your envelopes/boxes) and add the price. In example, if my bubble
envelopes weight less than 20 grams, I'd add a shipping band from 0-75 grams,
and put the price for under 100 grams. Or, if my boxes weight about 150 grams,
I'd put another band from 450 grams to... 750 grams, for under 1 KG!

That is the simple part, now let's get to restrictions or special needs.
I'm not sure about restrictions on other countries, but here the restrictions
are not too harsh. For them, and special bulky items, my solution would be to
have a special intern mark in the catalog, so the system knows they are bulky.
For example, let's say I'm adding a raised baseplate to the catalog,
another field could be if it's bulky or not. Bulky could be considered over
2 centimeters high on all three dimensions, or something like that. Yes, it
would
require some work to be implemented in the actual catalog items, but with this
community's help, it would be easily done. You could also make differences
between big bulky items, such as raised baseplates, or semi-bulky items, such
as some panels. A raised baseplate would make a difference in my shipping costs,
but not a panel, normally.

Now, with the mark, what it would happen is, you get a special option on your
shipping methods to see if your store "cares" for bulky items. I mean, when the
system is making the shipping price to give it to the buyer, it would detect
that his order has bulky items, and then, predefined by the seller, you could
get two different options. Either the seller could establish new rates for bulky
items, or the make the buyer request a regular invoice, so the seller can calculate
the shipping cost.

Solved the restrictions problem. Now on to fees. All fees should be noted up
front, anyways. It's easy to automatize lot limits/fees, packing fees, etc.
The seller would be required to add them, and the system would add them to the
order and show them to the buyer along with shipping prices, before checkout.

Lastly, I would make automatic checkout, at least in the beginning, an option,
not a must. I'm sure many, many sellers would implemented, and those that
feel that they can't, just would not. Probably the former would be small
stores who cannot afford to loose 2$ on shipping and that. That way, you'd
make everyone happy.

On another note, I would automatize fees as a priority, and that cost should
be noted up front before checkout, even if you don't have instant checkout,
as you don't need postage to calculate them.

After this, and having all fees noted up front, postage should always be real
PO cost.

I hope you made it to the bottom of the page, as it was hard for me to write
this long thing.
I you have any more ideas, I'd love you to post them, or to refute my ideas,
that is what the forum is for. I posted is as a suggestion as it is how I'd
like the system to work, or how I think it would work the best. Lots of ideas
in my head!

Cheers,
Gerald

Currently, when shopping, if you run across an item that needs to be reported
for one problem or another, it is a multi-step process to do so. I would like
to propose a simple "report this item" button be implemented so that simply clicking
it will take you to the "problem with item for sale" section, bring with it the
lot number from the item and when you have submitted the item, have a button
to bring you right back to where you left off so you can finish shopping.

Too often things do not get reported due to the current reporting process. A
one click reporting button with a simple return to previous page button would
be wonderful.

The only way I know of to report offending items is as follows...
1) find listing
2) roll mouse over picture of the listing
3) write the number down
4) find the problem report page, and enter the number

Please find a way to make this process easier. This is even more annoying when
after all that, the item has already been reported .

Would it be beneficial to have a dedicated forum topic Taxes, with the
charter of discussing all things related to transactional taxes collected via
BrickLink, VAT and Sales tax?

A go-to forum space specific to the charter. The topic could be umbrellaed as
a subtopic by the more general Help. Perhaps giving the Admin another
and specific place to post updates on what is still a fairly new and complicated
implementation, and to find the opportune question and broadly-held concerns.

It might be worth doing, if only provisionally?

With as many messages and questions as are flying across the forum, why hasn't
a VAT specific Topic Description been added?

Hi,

I've seen a bad situation where BrickLink can told to use a particular shipping
method but the parts does not fit with the method, because on the restriction
on the dimensions. The problem is due to the absence of dimensions of one part
in the catalog.

In the Inventory page, I am able to list all items missing the weight in the
catalog. It would be great to have an identical filter to identify items without
dimensions.

Regards,

porchy

Can we add a search function to the sellers inventory to search for items with
zero dimensions (i.e. where dimensions is zero, not missing)?

I recently had a sale where the dimensions where set to 0 and it was accidently
set to weight bound.

Can we please have a function to search for items in our inventory with no catalog
dimensions? We already have one to search for weight, but not dimensions for
some strange reason.

I'm getting tired of bulky items sneaking through Instant checkout at letter
rates because they're missing catalog dimensions, and I have no way of finding
which items need me to manually enter their dimensions.

Title says most of it. Would like a checkbox, like the weight missing in catalog
to be able to view all inventory with any of the dimensions missing from the
catalog. Most parts aren't an issue but some large ones slip through and
it really hurts customer service telling them you can't ship what they order
for what they paid.

Can we please have an option to search our inventory for items without dimensions
in the catalogue? There is already an option to search for items without a catalogue
weight or items that won't work with instant checkout, but it won't help
with finding items that are set as weight bound by default with no dimensions
(Curved train track, some rollercoaster track) which are potentially too big
to send in a letter.

Prohibiting new sets from being inventoried without all the parts having weights
and dimensions would be a big help too, providing users don't add arbitrary
values which seems to be the case for 99% of instruction books at the moment.

Please put in a method "Search my Inventory" to find parts without size.

This way I can quickly add a size to my parts so that instant checkout will work
for those parts.

When making a post in the forum, we have a handy guide for macro tags. Could
we please also get a list of the Bricklink color numbers? I've enjoyed being
able to specify a color in a macro tag, but I don't have the color numbers
memorized, so I always have to open another page to get to the color guide.

Thanks!

Rant:
I am tired of looking in stores to find Minifigs that are missing parts -- Particularly
Feathers and Plumes from Castle Minifigs -- frequently the most expensive part.

Suggestion:

A) Add complete/incomplete to minifig listings -- this might be too large of
a change - not sure how hard this would be.

OR

B) Make a rule that ALL minifigs MUST be complete as inventoried. Otherwise
they should be listed as their component parts.

OR

C) Make a rule that ALL incomplete minifigs must have the phrase INCOMPLETE included
in the comments so that they can be excluded from searches somehow.

Hello!

I realy like your Mosaick project, but after I begin to use it I understood that
it should have some addition features to be perfect.

1) Color replacement.
User could chose all "dark red" parts in mosaic and change them to "red"
2) Color replacement of individual part.
User could chose one part in mosaic and change it's color.
3) Remake of mosaic depend on color changes.
After color changing size and list of parts could be changed, so Mosaic should
be remaking with better price.

Why it is needed?
Sometimes Mosaic create background from thousands of 1x1 bricks, sometimes mosaic
use colors that you dont have or which are too expensive. I hope that these features
are not hard to be done. Woth it your Mosaick program would be more friendly
for users.

Best regards,
Evgeny

Above the [Submit Order] button, when placing an order in a store, is the "legally

I looked through the open catalog requests and there doesn't seem to be one
for this. It could be a site development issue, but I'm not sure so I'm
making it a catalog request.

Currently BrickLink uses an unholy mix of the following numbers for books:

BL numbers:

Book No: BioCMN Name: BIONICLE - Challenge of Mata Nui
*
BioCMN BIONICLE - Challenge of Mata Nui
Books: Story Book: BIONICLE

13-digit ISBNs:

Book No: 9780439501200 Name: Bionicle Collector's Sticker Book
*
9780439501200 Bionicle Collector's Sticker Book
Books: Sticker Book: BIONICLE

10-digit ISBNs:

Book No: 3499609053 Name: Die LEGO Story - Der Stein der Weisen by Margret Uhle
*
3499609053 Die LEGO Story - Der Stein der Weisen by Margret Uhle
Books: Informational Book

TLG website numbers:

Book No: 5002889 Name: DC Universe Super Heroes Batman Visual Dictionary
*
5002889 (Inv) DC Universe Super Heroes Batman Visual Dictionary
Books: Informational Book: Super Heroes: Batman II

LEGO Education website/catalog numbers:

Book No: 2009723 Name: Cities and Transportation Activity Pack
*
2009723 Cities and Transportation Activity Pack
Books: Curriculum Activity Book: Educational & Dacta: MINDSTORMS

Item numbers printed on the item:

Book No: 4218234 Name: BIONICLE - Rahkshi Informational Card
*
4218234 BIONICLE - Rahkshi Informational Card
Books: Informational Book: BIONICLE: Rahkshi

TLG identifying item numbers:

Book No: 226 Name: Idea Book 226
*
226 Idea Book 226
Books: Idea Book

and Thor knows what else I've missed. This makes the Books section of the
BrickLink catalog confusing and difficult to navigate or work on (as evidenced
by someone recently submitting several books which already had catalog entries).
I've been told that alternate item numbers aren't allowed for books.
Fine, let's change that. Some books have alternate item numbers and should
be searchable and findable by any of those numbers.

There are 3,000 books in the catalog and volunteers willing to do a little work
to make those entries more complete. It won't be so easy if we wait to add
the alternate item number field until we have two or three times that many books
(or more) in the catalog.

Thank you for considering this request.

I don't know how hard what I'm asking for is, but I've had some fun
today tracking down "undetermined" variants in sets that I have from childhood.
I'm pretty close to mining it as far as I can go, but I would certainly
consider parting out some sets from eBay with the added interest in finding the
variants. Could we have a tool that would just identify a list of sets that
contain a piece of undetermined variant?

Hi, I have been stopped / blocked by a rather thin skinned seller.

Is there a way I can block the store? I don't want to see the store any longer
or be able to add items from its inventory. I have gone to the store twice now
to add items only to find out I am blocked.

That is annoying me and there should be a way for a buyer to block a seller in
turn.

Please fix this "go back" button to load the orders page not actually go back
a page. This requires me to hit refresh in order to see what order needs feedback
next. It's not an issue when there are only 1 or 2 but more than that and
it can get a little annoying.

This issue was observed on Chrome, it may react differently on other browsers,
if so I would love to hear about which ones if the button works!

Thanks!

Please, Bricklink give us back the Paypal notifications.
Or please notify us in any way that the payment is done.

Those who have switched to Paypal Marketplace are not receiving the notifications.
Many users are complaining about that in other posts.

Hi Bricklink,

After switching to PayPal marketplace for onsite PayPal, I no longer receive
email alerts from PayPal that I have been paid. PayPal tells me that all those
notifications now go to Bricklink. I think it Bricklink's responsibility
to pass on those notifications to your sellers. Can you please create an option
to receive payment notifications by email when a buyer has paid for their order?
This could be an option in my account settings that I either turn on or off.
I would think this would not be a huge undertaking and would make the transition
a lot smoother. Especially considering the fact that I did not read anything
about email notifications no longer working in Bricklink's communication
about enabling PayPal marketplace.

Thank you!

Bricklink famously ground to a halt, twice, because it got hacked. The site
may have been restored to working condition, but a lot of us want nothing to
do with risking exposure of our financial accounts to anyone who may be lurking
behind the scenes. Sellers don't want to give Bricklink the level of control
required to accept payments through Bricklink. Bricklink has announced that
in about a month, they plan to scuttle offsite Paypal as a payment option, without
even taking any input from their core membership. The reason stated was that
new, usually one-time buyers, can't figure out where the payment button is
when they select offsite Paypal as a payment option, so they plan to basically
cut off any buyers and sellers who refuse to use any other form of payment, and
who especially want nothing to do with any onsite Paypal options.

Make offsite Paypal an opt-in payment option. Sellers obviously have to select
up front which payment options they will accept. Make all _buyers_ voluntarily
choose to see offsite Paypal as a payment option when checking out. If a seller
does not accept any other payment options, have them flagged as "does not ship
to you", just like if they were from another country and didn't have your
country enabled for shipping options. If a new buyer signs up, they should be
required to read an explanation of how offsite Paypal works, and confirm that
they want to be able to choose that as a payment option before they even see
it appear in lists.

But seriously, don't chase away a bunch of your regular customers in the
hope that you might be able to "grow your business" on the bank accounts of people
who just get sent here to buy a replacement part that LEGO Consumer Affairs can't
provide, or who are looking for just one retired set, and will never log in again
after they receive their shipment.

I see bill time has come around again from BL.

I note that there is now "please" in the pay now demand.

How do we teach the next generation of people respect when major organisations
refuse to be polite?

Is it so hard to respect people? Is our manners now so obsolete that a little
respect is too much? I am sorry but I come from an age where please and thank
you is standard, hello and good bye is an acknowledgement of another person,
and saying excuse me and sorry when injecting or creating various interferences
to another depending on the case, whether a little harm like crossing in front
of a person, or making a mistake and providing acknowledgement and sympathy to
the person I may have caused harm to!!!

Further this is a family site, can we not just leave the big nasty company behaviour
outside the website? And so BL ADMIN - It is so really so hard to add the words
like?:

PLEASE pay now - THANK YOU and maybe the following something like this:

for trading/using/selling through our service....

After all I give a lot of my time to making the store work, I am happy to pay
for the service/ use the website mostly, but the ride is not free and easy, anyone
who works a busy store will tell you that. So I really believe a drop of kindness
is a slight acknowledgement that BL is not shouldering the load of the site and
that it takes a community, as a whole to give and take for the site to work and
I think that others are also slightly disappointed that BL Admin is not always
acknowledging the effort store owners and buyers put in to make it work!

Please consider!

Thank you for your time,
Kind regards
Dave

For the last few weeks I've been trying to get the Auto Finder tool to work
with lists that have max prices set and it fails every time. It fails completely
each time and doesn't find any of the items with a max price set. I've
set all the prices reasonably based on actively available parts and their current
prices. If I went into the catalog I could get all the pieces at the prices I
set in the quantity I want. But, the Auto Finder can't for some reason. This
seems buggy

Also, it would be handy if you brought back the price percentages on the Auto
Finder. Knowing which items were way over priced or under priced was nice.

Lastly, the easy buy thing would be cool if you could pull up summaries of each
shops proposed purchase like you can on the Auto Finder.

I've posted this before and was told Bricklink doesn't prioritise mobile
devices, but anyway, I would really really like to be able to use Bricklink properly
on my tablets. They are just much more comfortable to walk around with when sorting
orders than laptops.. but I can't, since I cannot use the menus. When I click
on the icons in the top bar, the dropdown menu appears properly, but whenever
I click on an item the menu disappears and nothing happens.

You can partly work around it by sending the links from a desktop computer and
then bookmarking them on the tablet, but it's still not comfortable.

Can this please be solved? I have this issue on a Lenovo as well as a Windows
Surface, in all browsers, so I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Please "downgrade" from the recent update to the wanted list and give us back
the number of "needed" lots (eg: those where the have field is not fulfilled).

Ideally we should be able to not only see the number of needed lots, but also
the quantity of parts still required for each wanted list.

P.S. If someone were to analyse what functions each feature offers before designing
an upgrade, I'm reasonably confident that there will be less complaints about
missing features.

Measure twice, cut once vs. measure once, cut it too short and have to start
all over.

P.P.S. Tutorials on how to use new features would also help. Maybe info/features
in each upgrade are available that aren't obvious to all of us.

In this window (Buy Wanted List), the left-hand pane has a few annoying features:

1) The window is very small and cannot be resized. as shown, with the "Wanted
Items" tab selected, there is only room for 9 "tiles", making me scroll continuously
to see what is selected. On a large wanted list. this is very annoying. Of note,
the adjacent window with the list of stores is much larger and fills to the
bottom of the page.

2) The "tiles" showing each item on a wanted list are populated with the item's
small image. The only way to see the text description is to hover over the "tile".
Is there a way the text can be added to each tile (underneath?)? if the pane
is increased in size, I do not see that this would be a problem.

3) Lastly, I'll add my voice to the clamour - bring back the updated info
on each item when a store name is clicked on in the adjacent pane. Please do
not make me make a cart in a store to see what they have on my wanted list.

Thanks

Miffy.

In another thread someone brought this to my attention:

Offsite Payment - No longer available for new users as of June 8, 2017.
To cover various payment options, BrickLink also provides Offsite Payment Methods.
Please note that BrickLink cannot provide any transaction related support for
the Offsite Payment Methods listed below. All responsibility for Offsite Payments
is solely upon buyer and seller.

I'm lost for words. Does Bricklink really want to kill the European market
or something? In my real life I don't even know anyone with PayPal (or a
Credit card). In the NL €20,000,000,000 is spent in webshops per year, and almost
all of these transactions are bank transfers. Almost no-one that I know will
consider PayPal, certainly not since it costs money while bank tranfers are free.

IBAN has really become simple in use; Transactions are free, fast, and bank account
numbers have been standardised to IBAN recently. Interfaces for bank transfers
(such as iDeal in the NL) are thriving more than ever and are the undisputed
standard.

And now Bricklink is moving in the opposite direction.

They will lose the Dutch market, which is the 4th largest country on the platform
in terms of store count. Bricklink always seemed a bit America First but this
decision right here really changes my opinion of Bricklink. I personally will
survive since it doesn't affect existing stores and I will move more of my
business over to BO which does support bank transfers. But they will certainly
scare away lots of potential customers here, and for new sellers this is crazy
unfair. This is either a huge mistake or Bricklink just isn't interested
in the European market..

Please support my suggestion to re-enable IBAN/Bank transfer, also if you don't
use it. For an accessable and thriving site that benefits all of us, and a site
that is fair to everyone.. it's really in all of our interest if you want
Bricklink to be #1..

I was reviewing my credit card activity and noticed a charge to:

CA 9498256653 CA

Didn't recognize the charge or the amount, couldn't find the transaction
in PayPal or anywhere in my email. I called the phone number and it was a dead
number. So I disputed the charge.

Then I was looking at my fees paid to BrickLink and there was the mystery amount,
I forgot I paid my fees with a credit card this month.

My suggestion is that BrickLink appropriately name their Stripe/credit card transactions
so that the card holders are not confused when they see the transaction on their
credit card history.

Thank you,
Cob

Hi,

buying items from my wanted list(s) and selecting a shop from the shops list
i would like to know how many items that shop has. Not only lots.
The only way to know how many items i'm buying, at the moment, is to add
selected to cart and then view the cart content.

... to the Order Received page.

The new layout do not really seem thought thru.
What may look awesome to a web-developer don't necessary look as good to
the end-user.

To see as much of the page and eliminate the need to scroll sideways I need to
zoom out from 125% to 90% in chrome, making the text hard to read.

Columns are miss-aligned (Credit columns in particular). So much empty space
around each cell.

Functionality Flashy graphics

Thus I suggest you add "Classic View" as an default option, then evaluate how
many users stuck to new vs old layout.
And listen to feedback of your end-users, that pay commission fees to sell here.

When examining a part on a catalog page, in a specific color, and then clicking
on "Add to My Inventory", pass the previously selected color to the add page
as the initial setting.

If you are looking at a specific color, odds are that is the same color you wish
to list, and will save one step on many many part listing specifications. Doing
this in no way prevents changing to a different color.

Thank You

When shopping using the auto-finder, the result shows a percentage indicating
how much the part is cheaper or more expensive than some unknown average.

Since the exact calculation is unknown, this value is without meaning. We do
not know if it compares to averages sold or offered for sale, nor if those
averages simply take the max/min values of the quantity average. Also, there
are indications that the price calculated when the item condition (used/new)
is set to "all", or if the color is set to "any" that some average between all
those is calculated.

In my opinion, this is VERY misleading.

For example, there are very good reasons why a 30 year old new part is much more
expensive than a used one, or why a MISB set is more expensive than an incomplete
used one, or why a part in a very rare color is more expensive than the same
part in a common color. Comparing these as if they were the same item is wrong.
It will show genuinely valuable items as being overpriced, and common used items
as discounted. This is very unfair to the sellers that bring unique and rare
items to BrickLink. As a buyer, without fair comparison the value shown is meaningless
but that knowledge will be restricted to experienced buyers only. Inexperienced
buyers might feel misguided, cheated and/or scammed. We should not want that.

In making the price comparison the part should be compared to parts that are
actually the same. This means they should have an identical part number (including
version), condition (used/new, complete/incomplete/MISB/etc) and color. The calculation
should also use the quantity average because otherwise the calculation can de
be easily manipulated by listing a single item with a very high price. Finally,
by preference the prices of items sold should be used. Those are a much better
indication of what buyers are actually willing to pay and the actual value of
the item, and also it reduces the effect of items that are priced extremely high
or incorrectly (typing errors, new users testing their store, etc).

Please update the calculation where needed,
and provide a description of the formula in the help files.

When I have a color selected on a catalog page, and go to the 'add to my
inventory' link, I have to pick a color again. If the link remembered the
color from the catalog page, it would make it quicker to list used parts, and
new parts where for some reason set part out isn't applicable. It's frustrating,
and particularly frustrating to be about to submit and have to go back to choose
a color.

Right now, my store's URL is www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=FigBits

It should be www.bricklink.com/FigBits

(or even figbits.bricklink.com)

The suggestion won't really help me at this point, since I have a much simpler
URL than either of those (figbits.com), but I think it would be good for others.

Dear BrickLink admins and members,

We see it every day. BrickLink is losing business because it's still not
possible to pay immediately after checkout. We have to cancel our orders because
new members can't find shipping fees. They expect that the shipping fee will
be automically displayed when they put items in their shopping cart. The also
expect that they can pay immediately for their orders. The way it is going now
is way too complicated for new members.

Why is it so hard to create software to let members pay immediately and tell
them the shipping fee. BrickOwl and BrickScout are doing it. They are taking
BrickLink's business over.

What I hear from other sellers is that it's impossible to create it because
not al items have their weight in the BrickLink catalog. Why not solve this with
a standard weight for items that don't have their weight in the BrickLink
catalog? (0.5KG for a set, 0.2KG for a part etc.)

Please, BrickLink do something at this.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Niels Roest

I would suggest that the Auto Finder should ignore "multiples" of items during
his search.

Explanation: When I search for (as example) 44 1x2 Bricks in a specific colour
I get results including shops which have "multiples" (x10). This is unusable
because I'm forced to either buy 50 instead of the 44 and end up paying more
than intended or to buy 40 in one shop and another 4 in a second shop which could
result in higher costs.

There should be an option to deselect those stores...

If Bricklink supported tags on catalog items (which could be reviewed/flagged
by catalog admins just like any other change) it would make it easier to find
things and there would be less "what is this" questions on the forums. For example
a minifig torso from a NinjaGo Zane minifig could have "NinjaGo" and "Zane" added
as tags. Or a part like 60208 (Wheel 31mm D. x 15mm Technic) could have tags
like "turbine" and "engine" added since its been used as an aircraft/spacecraft/boat/hovercraft
engine part in so many sets. (its never even been used as a wheel as far as I
can tell and no tyres exist that fit it).

I am sure people here can think of many other uses for tags on catalog items...
Brickset has tags on sets and its quite useful.

Hi,

I am using lots of wanted lists. Some contain sets, some contain parts, others
contain catalogs and gear.
Unfortunately, the sorting criteria for the contents of wanted lists are set
globally. So every time, I have to switch the sorting when switching between
my wanted lists.
Because imho, sets are best sorted by set numbers. While parts are best sorted
by color or description. Finally, it makes sense to sort catalogs by description
or by year.

Adding sorting criteria individually to each wanted list, would improve the handling
a lot.

I have been trying to put together several orders and get the most out of each
store. But I am not able to do this in one sitting. It may require a small
design change, waiting to hear back from the proprieter or *gasp* actually working.
So then all my carts expire after about 2-3 days and I have to work on rebuilding
them. It's enough to give up and source parts elsewhere.

Sure, I can save screenshots and try to save in Brickstock but these are extra
unnecessary steps. Likely there is a variable somewhere in the bowels of the
BL code that could be changed from "72 hours" to "720 hours". If Amazon, Target,
and the Owl can remember my carts indefinitely, I don't think it's asking
too much for BL to do the same.

And for those who would complain that it's unnecessary, tell me also how
it would inconvenience you to have a longer cart timeout.

I don't believe much in forum's suggestions, but you never know...

The API lets us do "mass creation" of lots, but we can't do a "mass update"
to perform operations such as updating the prices of all lots at once.

We could send a bunch of "update inventory", a call for each lot, but then any
big seller will hit the limit of 5000 calls / day easily.

Can we please either get an API call for mass updates, or raise the limit of
5000 calls/day?

The software I'm writing will be free and open source once complete and tested
enough, so I don't really want just my personal limit of 5000 raised (as
the API docs suggest one can ask).

Thank you.

This feature, described here: http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=520798
, is very useful when shopping by wanted lists. The only flaw is when the quantity
ordered differs from the quantity entered on the list. If a buyer orders any
quantity of an item on their list (regardless of the quantity entered on their
wanted list) the item appears in the Wanted Items in Order page.

Since Bricklink's system can see the quantity on the WL and can see the quantity
in the Order, then could the screen show an additional line below the item's
line when the quantities aren't equal.
When shopping and you click "All Items" it shows the quantity in red when it's
below the quantity on your WL. Something like this would be great in the IiOoWL
page and prevent accidental over-buying and save buyers time from having to manually
make changes.

Could we get the condition listed on the Wanted List Detail Pages?

such as:
http://www.bricklink.com/wantedDetail.asp?catType=P (Note: this link will only
show information if you have parts added to your Wanted List)

See image below, I added the column of Text inside the Red Box to the first entry
(1).

Brian R.

(1) I randomly assigned the values of "U" (Used) and "N" (New). I do not know
what condition this head is in these stores.

On pages such as this:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=32174

you should be able to click on a colour under "On Wanted Lists" to add it to
your wanted list thereby bringing up the normal "Add Items to My Wanted List:
Add Parts" screen, but with the color already selected.

I think Bricklink has covered all bases as far as features that are useful but
there is one thing I would like to see added. After you make an order you are
given the option to remove items purchased from your wanted list. This is a
great feature but it would be nice if it removed the exact quantity you purchased
from your minimum quantity set for that wanted item on the list. Rather than
just giving the option to delete the item entirely or manually have to do the
math and change the quantity yourself.

Is it too difficult to have the system recognize the quantity you purchased and
pass it over to the wanted list editor for that order and have it automatically
modify the remaining quantity needed? With an option to submit the changes just
as there is now in case there are any errors of course.

Thanks for everything Bricklink. Love the site.

When browsing a store and looking for items on your wanted list, click "Show
All Items this store has on my Wanted List" and it will show ONLY items on your
wanted list that meets your specific wanted list criteria (ie, i want 5 green
1x1 bricks, but they only have 4 - this item would not show).

Click "All Items" and it shows all items on your wanted list ignoring your specific
wanted list criteria for quantity and pricing (ie, i want 5 green 1x1 bricks,
but they only have 4 - this item would show but the qty would be in 'red' to
denote it does not match).

My suggestion is this = When clicking "All Items", condition is also ignored,
along with qty and price (ie, I want 5 green 1x1 bricks in new condition, but
they only have 5 in used condition - this item would show but the condition would
be in 'red' to denote it does not match).

There should be a way to search for multiple items at the same time and show
which store has the majority of what you are looking for. Almost like a shopping
list. Instead of putting in an item and then going through a store looking for
other items needed, it would show many options (i.e. the cheapest store with
the most items or just the store that has the most of what you need). Is there
a way for bricklink to engineer something like this?

Hello all,

So just a suggestion -

Ok so like Amazon when you have a wishlist and you or someone else buys off that
list it disappears from that list. This should be super if it worked in the
same way on here. If there is an option to do this then sorry i havent found
it.

Thanks Phil.

It would be great to be able to add an item to a wanted list from the catalogItem.asp
webpage. Is there a way to currently do this somehow, and I just don't see
it?

It's a bit cumbersome to use the "Add Item" feature on the Wanted List.
I think it would be easier to view a set, view the inventory and choose which
parts to add to your wanted list or be able to do so from the item's page
itself.

Hi,

the changes to Wanted lists seem quite nice, but some fine tuning will make it
even better.

- Missing the prices directly in the list - was a nice feature from old list.
If not directly shown in the new design, maybe just add a + sign to roll them
out or pop-over dialog.
- Transfer from list to catalog item to remember filter - now, if I click on
item in wanted lists it will get me to catalog item page. Both of these pages
allow filters, but they do not transfer. So let's say in my wanted list I
select New item and some max price. Would be nice that clicking on this item,
on the next page (catalog item) I will get these filters pre-filled

Quick shop is a nice feature, but has some drawbacks and lack some features
- Super-Lots - have a filter to ignore them in the shop lists
- Super-Lots - add a color to highlight wanted items (on left side) if present
only in super lots (currently green = match single lots quantity, yellow = some
quantity present, no color = "dear user please guess why this shop shows X of
X (100%) lot matches in shop list, but items do not show as present, maybe it's
part of super-lot, maybe not" )
- return more than one hit on auto finder, let's say top 3 - technically
you spent the CPU cycles to search them all, no ? So why not to display more
results.
- Sort shops by price option - enough said. If it's a resources problem,
then display only after running Auto Finder. Reason ? As per point above, you
already did the calculation, so why not to reuse and display the results.

I hope these help to make BL more usable

I would like to see an addition to the “My Action Items” notification area on
the “MyBrickLink” under the selling category. When the seller marks an order
“Paid” we see the following on our MyBrickLink page …

My Action Items:
(Customize)

Selling:
1 Order not yet shipped (?)

However, when a buyer pays for an order and goes into their My Orders Placed
page and marks the order as “Paid” – we (the seller) have no idea the buyer paid
by looking at our MyBrickLink. We have to go to the My Orders Received page
and see if the grand total is “bold” or go to our emails and see if we received
payment (if electronically).

Wouldn’t it be easy if we could log into BrickLink and go to our “MyBrickLink”
page and see this right away …

My Action Items:
(Customize)

Selling:
1 Order marked paid by Buyer (?)

I believe it would be a nice addition to the site and be an easy way for sellers
to see if their buyer has paid for their order. This may have already been suggested,
but I thought it couldn't hurt to get it out there.

Thanks for any support!

I am probably not the only person here who often has something to say or ask
about the MOC shop. Currently anything someone wants to post something, he/she
has to decide just where to post the message. With the MOC Shop coming along,
but not having it's own dedicated sub forum, the message might end up anywhere,
even if the place posted is not the most appropriate.

The MOC shop needs it's own dedicated sub forum in the boards. Please give
us one.

Often when I am buying I find myself going back into the store from my cart multiple
times to check on the price of parts I have put in my cart.
Please make it so we can see a breakdown of cost per item in our currency of
choice in the cart as well as the store. It seems silly to me that it is not
already this way. I often like to adjust my quantities depending on how much
I have to spend on any given order, and knowing the price per piece (in my currency)
is very helpful, not just the total of the cart in my currency.
I would also find it very helpful if the cart would include the item number as
well.

Ok, back to sleep.

I am currently doing a project and I have a list of items I need. The way the
current wanted list works is to show me lowest priced items in specific quantities
on the list from the stores with the lowest prices for that item.

What I think would be awesome is if somehow we could see which (if any) stores
had the entire list of items in the appropriate quantities (or failing that,
which stores can complete the highest percentage of my order).

For example: say I need 100 Black 1x1 Bricks and 250 White 1x1 Bricks and 50
green 2x1 bricks (totally made up example) - rather than order each item from
a different store and pay shipping multiple times, often I would prefer to pay
a few cents more for some items (especially ones I might only need a few of)
but ship everything from a smaller number of stores.

For a complicated project with hundreds of items, the shipping expense can become
a significant cost for the project after paying several dollars shipping from
dozens of different stores - I for one would prefer for the Lego community to
keep that money and purchase more Lego than the post office get it.

Wanted list item needs status: "Item ordered".

When I buy something from the wanted list, I change the max price to 0.00001
or something so item doesn't show on the next shop's "show wanted parts" list.
This is the only way to mark what items are already bought.
Not the best way, but don't know any better.

Deleting parts from the list is not the best choise because if order is lost
or some part is missing, you have to add those parts all over again to the wanted
list.
I delete them when items are in my hand.

Or maybe someone has better idea to do this?

Hello I am suggesting a new buyer tool..

This tool would allow buyers to query specific stores for parts from their wanted
lists by either typing in the name of the store or using their favorite sellers
list.

The results would be out but much like the normal Wanted list with the name of
the store, quantity, and price ranked in order.

The reason for this tool.. As a buyer I know the lower priced stores but sometimes
those stores don't always have what I need so I check 4-5 stores at a time. In
checking all these stores to find out the store that has the best pricing to
selection I have to add all the parts to the carts and compare. This takes a
long time to do. by having this tool I would be able to just type in several
store names and be able to compare inventory and pricing to figure out which
store or stores would best maximize my shipping dollar as well as initial price.

I would suggest having the option to select certain wanted lists or all much
like the stores search for wanted as well as an option to ignore minimum quantities
and/or condition.

I think the infrastructure is within the site to make this possible as it already
has query capabilities in the wanted lists and within the shops themselves it
is just lacking the ability to specify multiple specific shops.

I just received my second Order Cancellation Request and didn't know this until
I checked my personal e-mail. I would really like the option to see 'Problem
Order' notices on the Bricklink Homepage, where other notices like non-invoiced
orders and unpaid orders show up. Hopefully this option would also include NPB,
NSS, etc.

One reason I've easily missed these OCR's is that the order has dropped to the
second page of my invoice screen. (and I'm at 50 orders per page on one screen)
I would really like to see an OCR when I first log in to Bricklink, so that I
can quickly resolve the issue.

If there is an option somewhere that I may have missed, please let me know.

Thank you,

- Chris

SUGGESTION:

In the "old" BL interface it was possible to print out the wanted lists.
This functionality hasn't been released in the "new" BL interface.

I would highly recommend that this could be implemented.

In a plain, simple, printer- friendly layout please...

Please exclude all superlot entries from the Price Guide. There are too many
people who do superlots with one item for some insane price, then list all other
entries for a penny or something. That ends up screwing up the averages for everything
in the superlot. If superlot items were just excluded from the Pricing Guide,
then it won't prevent anyone from doing their preferred pricing, while not
harming the pricing averages.

Note that this even helps with other pricing strategies, as the general use is
to price the individual items lower than they otherwise would be, which still
screws up the averages.

For most parts, which are commonly available, I have my wanted list set up with
the following option:
In View and E-Mail Notifications, Include only Items in Stores which are Located:
In Country: USA
This way I'm not bombarded with notifications for items in stores I'm
not likely to purchase, because of high shipping charges.

However, there are rare parts which infrequently show up in USA, but sometimes
are available in Europe. I would like an option, within the item, to have wanted
notifications regardless of location settings. This would be available both on
the "add item" screen as well as the "edit item" screen. Or, similar to how the
"notify" checkbox already functions. Or, have this as an option for entire want
lists - I could set up my main want lists and have a special want list just for
items I dont care where they are sourced from - because in those instances I
am willing to pay for them

Thanks for considering this suggestion for the revamped bricklink!

I searched the most recent suggestions but didn't find anything about this.

Can a link to the Problem Order page be put on the Order Details Page (anywhere)
and be pre-populated with the order number when clicked?

I find it cumbersome to have to either remember the order number or copy and
paste it after navigating to the Problem order page. I can't be the only
one who has accidently canceled the wrong order (only once, but almost a few
other times).

I can't see that this would be hard to do since there is already a link to
message the buyer/seller on that page and is pre-populated with the order number
as the title.

Thanks,
Donna

with multiple listings for nearly identical items (darth w/eyebrows, darth w/o
eyebrows...)
we could really use the option to enter multiple items simultaneouisly (rather
than having to reload and reset ten different identical entries just to find
one darth vader minifig, as i just did...and then again for 3PO. exhausting)

I likely won't use this feature again, until this is possible. it just sucks
up too much time.

I am of course not a programmer.

But it would be nice to have a seller alert when you get an order.

I have had situations where I am out of town and I did not know someone had placed
an order.

I come back to find a complaint that I had not billed it in a few days when I
checked before I left.

Only happens every once and awhile but it would be nice to have an alert setup
that informed me of a sale in the store.

Have a great weekend.

I think the wanted list is an excellent feature. Having multiple wanted lists
is even better.

Going to the wanted list by shop page - automatically runs a search of all wanted
lists.

This page should load then have a [search now] button. I typically just want
to search for one wanted list and this initial query is large - my wanted list
is not that big under 300 items - but this search is not needed at all.

The ability to load this page, choose a wanted list then search would save me
and everyone else some time. May even alleviate some of the server time-outs.

If I could have one, and only one, change made to bricklink, this is the change
I would want.

It would save me so much time and effort if my carts would stay there until I
was ready to make the purchase.

If the seller changes the price, have the cart then indicate that the price has
changed.
If someone else buys the item, have the cart indicate the item is no longer available.

I may want to keep a cart for several days (even weeks) before I have enough
in it to actually make it worth the purchase.

Hi
Please add a quantity box/field in the 'wanted list'.

Created my 'wanted list' with about 250 different items in it from about 25 different
sets.
Queried the shops with good results. Now I have to go back to the piece of paper
where I have written missing parts from each set. They are all different quantities
and are not in the same order like 'wanted list'. It will take a lot of time
now as oppose if I was able to type the quantities while creating the list..

I am still new so please excuse and inform me if solution to this problem exists.
All the best!
Michael

Please consider fixing this problem, any change in part quantity seems to delete
the part from my cart, even if the part is still available from the same store.

I spent several hours last night putting several carts together for a large project.
This morning I finished working on them, and proceded to place three orders.
When I placed two of these orders, a warning came up that one part was no longer
available. Well, I placed the first order anyway, then checked the price guide,
and found the same seller still had them. I added to my order and moved on to
the next order. Then it happened again...this time I checked the store before
I checked out, and behold, again, the seller still had the part in stock .
I don't think these sellers both relisted this part overnight, but I suppose
there is a VERY slim chance of that. I do know they each had only one lot of
these parts when I added them, as I wanted all that they had.

Thanks for your time,

Darren

Sometimes I want to find a store which has several parts of interest for me,
to minimize shipping expenses.
However, now it is impossible: I have to find one such store, than I have to
search inside the store for the next item (or the same, but in different color)
and next one...

This is very annoying and hard work, especialy for bigger orders! I would like
to be made more powerful search, e.g. to search more items in one store.

I'm positive this has been proposed before, but the people who run Bricklink...
have you ever considered updating the look of Bricklink? It just seems to me
at least that this site still looks like a website from 2000. I'm sure there's
a good reason its look hasn't been updated yet, but I was just curious. And perhaps
a mobile app?

Sincerely,

Zac

I would like to see an improvement to wanted lists - when browsing by store,
it would be nice to see what wanted list each of the parts is from and also to
be able to sort by wanted list. It would also be nice to be able to rate wanted
lists by importance so that you can focus on one list more than others. Additionally,
it would be nice to indicate both suppressed parts (ones that you have unchecked
before searching by store) and also indicate parts that may have restrictions
on them based on wanted list - ie price, quantity. That way when you are buying
from a store, you can see if they have the part but it is outside of the search
criteria (too expensive, short desired quantity).

I am trying to note any of these improvements as I run into them.

Thoughts?

Hi there,

as many of other sellers I mark the box where parts are store in remarks field.

It would make the collecting job more effective when there would be a possibility
to order the order sheet by remarks. Especially when you have many lots in the
order.

Thanks,
Markus

Today I had a customer at my retail store ask me to source parts for a project
he designed in Lego Digital Designer. There are 3,742 pieces in 209 lots. I
am obviously not going to create a wanted list for this manually.

I figured i'd just import the parts list into BL and go from there, thinking
surely BL is setup to handle such things.

NOPE!

The only format BL is setup to import is BL XML files. The only formats that
LDD exports as are LXF and XLS. I am sure that there is some magic that can
be worked involving BrickStock, but I shouldn't need a third party program
to get this to work.

With people designing all sorts of things in LDD and LDRAW, BL should be able
to import these formats directly so that those people can source their parts
here. Why this wasn't a priority over the MOC Shop is beyond me. People
are going to be more willing o buy their own designs over someone elses.

So, my suggestion is that BL be able to import, at a minimum:

LEGO Digital Designer files
LDRAW files
Excel Spreadsheet parts lists.

For further incentive: This already works at BrickOwl. I was able to import
the LDD file directly, and BO provided me with an estimate of the cost. This
is all that was needed at this point, but I was able to go further and search
stores for the parts.

Would much prefer to buy here, but if my customer decides to proceed with the
project itlooks like i will be shopping at BO.

Two improvements to the wanted list would greatly increase the workflow of buying
pieces on the site.

1. Quantity, the actual quantity desired not the minimum. I can understand the
reasons for the min quantity, however I believe the desired quantity would be
much more useful. With this information two new abilities can be done.
- As we order parts the quantity could automatically lower.
- The item count in "by shop" could be limited to our desired quantity making
it reflect our desire for there parts versus there stockpile of a single part.

2. Bulk Wanted List Load.
I would be nice to load say 100 parts at once using CSV.

I would like to see
- a list with dates for the monthly maintenance
- a warning 10 minutes before it starts

The daily maintenance we all know it's every day, ánd we receive a warning
a few minutes before. The monthly maintenance takes an hour, we have to log in
again, but it always starts by suprise.

Depending on what you are doing at the time, I would like to see a warning 10
minutes before at least.

In Past when I try upolad file .xml or .lxf BL uploader when cant reconized part
just put null in next screen I just fix it in XML and upload was done.

Right now I have got error like:
1] upload .lxf file "Filed to Upload File: Part not found in catalog." or
2] upload .xml file "one of the items in the xml file is invalide or does not
exist in the bricklink catalog"

And I dont know which one is wrong. When I have 100 project is OK but when My
file have 20 000bricks and there is few bricks with error how I can find wrong
brick in my list??

There should be list of wrong bricks on top of the next screen to fix it just
put right code/number and finish upload without any problems.

Hi! This is a wanted feature, importing is easy, but if I want to give my modified
wanted list to a friend, it is not possible to export it. I know there are scripts
to be found for Firefox / Chrome, but these does not work anymore, due to security
issues in the browsers.

Exporting the wanted list (or other lists for that matter) into .csv or preferrably
.xml (for easy friend importing).

Otherwise, keep up the good work.

I would like to be able omit Super Lots from my search results.
As mainly a collector of minifigs, my biggest pet peeve is finding the first
4 or 5 stores I go to for a minifig and find out it's part of a Super Lot.
Right now the only option I know of is to mark those stores as a least favorite
store and use the omit least favorite store filter.

Perhaps I'm missing an obvious solution that is all ready there

A few suggestions that might not be too hard:
* I'd like the option to see/buy stuff from a seller even if the quantity
is too low.
* It'd be nice if when I buy it from a seller it was removed from my wanted
list (Or if I buy 10 and wanted 25, my wanted is reduced to 25). Clearly
an option per wanted list
* When sellers have bajillions of lots of the same part, only Auto-Fill enough
to reach the wanted amount, if I want 70, don't do 70 3x just because they
have 3 lots available with 125, 92 and 73 of some part.

I'm new to Bricklink and I had an idea to improve the "Wanted List / Shop
By."
Is it possible to program a purchase suggestion?
Let me explain (for example):
- I have 20 different items in my Wanted List
- I can not have everything at the same vendor, there will be x minium sellers
- I'd like BrickLink suggest me the best way to buy at the cheapest my objects
from these sellers (eg 5 items the seller "A", 10 the seller "B" and 5 to the
seller "C")

Do you think it is a good idea?

Hello, I have another suggestion.

Is it possible to automatically decrement the Wanted List when buying items?
And why not, when one or more orders are in progress, put an extra line like
"you want to 8 but you are to buy 4 in another shop, you have to buy that four
theoretically"

If this option is I apologize.

Is there anyway possible to save your "cart" so the items will remain in the
cart from computer to computer (login). Or if you have a glitch in your internet
and have to reboot it?

I've lost countless hours having to search through everything I wanted again.

Not all stores have Hold Order Open options.

Thanks

Hi, Not sure if this is a system glitch or not, A few months back I had a store
close while I was compiling items in it, I lost my complete shopping cart because
of this and was not able to recover the list. I had to go through all of my items
with the other stores to figure out what items were in this cart. If a seller
closes their store, there should be a warning that a buyer has items in their
cart and they should contact that buyer prior to store closing. Not sure if this
feature exists or not but it would be nice,
Jill

It is nice that we have possibility to import XML rebrickable file, but I am
really missing possibility to export such file for selected wishlist. A typical
use-case is:

1. Find a MOC on Rebricable which I want to build and the parts I need to buy.
2. Export rebricable XML and import into Bricklink
3. Finding several sellers who can individually or combined fulfill my needs
4. Creation a wish-list for each seller (unfortunatelly shopping cart is not
persisted)
5. Revision of parts in wish-lists and reorganizing where each part will be bought
(this is also not very UX friendly step - need 4 clicks to move to other wishlist
for each part)
6. Placing required orders for each seller.
7. Now I need to add bought parts into Rebricable under my inventory - how? Adding
all the parts of the MOC from step 1 is not good because in steps 3-4 I could
modify some parts (using alternatives).

Would be nice if this whole process could be improved - it is very time consuming
now to find few sellers who can fulfill the complete order.

Great site by the way, good luck!

Hi, I found by default when I view "My Wanted List By Shop" I see ALL of my wanted
lists checked (I have dozens of lists and it takes a long time to uncheck all)!

To encourage more use of wanted lists to keep customers on your site, can checkboxes
be added to "Select ALL" and "UNselect ALL"? Then if you manually select or
unselect wanted lists both boxes will be unchecked, but you can reset everything
with one checkbox.

To temporarily get around this in "My Wanted List Settings" I UNchecked "Show
Multiple Wanted Selection Lists as Multiple Options in Stores and My Wanted Items
By Shop", but then you can only search with one list. (I am used to writing
long descriptions myself, but this description doesn't help me in this case
as I didn't know what it would affect. It would be nice if you could see
a picture of what it would affect!).

Thanks, Brian

### NOTE: this issue has already been reported to Sheryl ###
### (BrickLink Customer Support) - her recommendation ###
### was to post it here for the site designers to see it as well ###
### on their to do list. Please vote to bring this forward! ###

Re-post of this issue under new conditions:
http://www.bricklink.com/messageThread.asp?ID=199360
(I just moved it from "Problem" to "Suggestions" to keep it alive)

The workaround posted by Russell does not work any longer, so the information
about the total number of wanted list entries is completely missing right now,
at least for catalog items without any sales history (past six month) AND no
current listings.
In addition, wanted list entries without specified color (either for items without
colors [like set, instructions, boxes, books, most gear] or parts without a restriction
to a specific color) seem to cause an issue here as well.

Please look into this and fix it - thanks!

After you buy stuff in a store you can delete it from a wanted list.
You have to click the link and look thru the list of parts.
This list shows the items you bought, and multiple times if you have that part
on more than one wanted list. lets say i bought parts for only 1 wanted list.
As it is now you have to scroll thru the list and check the ones
just for that list.

Would it not be easier to have a drop down option at the top of the page
so that you could just select the one Wanted List.

Thanx!

Ok this just might be me, but i'd like to have the ability to duplicate my
wanted lists, so if I have a wanted list and want another or two or so of
the same list for the same project but multiples of i'd like to be able to
make a copy of my list into another wanted list without having to make the list
all over again.

Please could sellers have top-level, one-click access to their My Inventory page?

The 'Members' tab seems to mostly contain various ways to search for
members. Perhaps that could be moved under the Search tab to make way for MyInventory?

Dear Admins,

as mentioned as a sidenote in this post already:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=958268

The wanted list information seems to display incorrectly for many sets - and
for a while already. See this example:

Set No: 4000012 Name: Inside Tour (LIT) Exclusive 2012 Edition - Piper Airplane
*
4000012-1 Inside Tour (LIT) Exclusive 2012 Edition - Piper Airplane
2012
Sets: LEGO Brand: LEGO Inside Tour
http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?S=4000012-1

This item is included in my wanted list (and very likely in a few others as well),
but this is not being displayed correctly - both the missing number in "My Wanted
List (1)" and the completely missing "On xx Wanted Lists" information seem to
be a technical issue here.

When browsing my own wanted lists, I see a correlation between this effect and
database entries without any price guide information and current listing for
sale - so maybe it's just a similar glitch like the "action item missing
on start page" issue where a certain condition was needed to display these correctly.

for a few parts, I see the ""On xx Wanted Lists" entry, but not the "(1)" in
"My Wanted List (1)" - see attached example images.
(Yes, all four of these items ARE included in a wanted list of mine!)

Please have a look into this.

Thanks!
Jan

Dear Staff,

I'm one of the executive member of enclosed Turkish LEGO Users Group (Turklug)
and one of the founder of Istanbul LEGO Users Group (IstanLUG). Last 7 years
me and my friends organized Turkish LEGO Fans to be a RLUG, arranging so many
meetings, contests and community projects in our country.

We're sellers and buyers from Turkey whom deals with government's bad
decisions nowadays. After 6th of June, PayPal is retreat from our country because
of governments some regulations. Not only for bricklink we're blocked to
buy stuff and sell our works for using PayPal. PayPal authorities said that they
are working on this situation to solve immediately but nobody know when they
will solve it.

As you know Bricklink request fees only on PayPal account. We're unable to
pay our bricklink fees anymore. Please add different payment method for paying
our fees to bricklink. If it is not possible we'll want limitless postponement
to paying our fees to bricklink.

Kindly regards

My wanted list is up to NO good nowadays. I have NO use for it The Way it is
now. I want it The way it was before, showing shops, quantity and prices. Frankly
I do not visit Bricklink anymore du to this strange new layout of The wanted
list.

Hi,

It would be good if users are able to see the total weight(item * quantity) whenever
they add anything to their cart.
I am currently doing things via excel. And trying to find the weight of each
individual items.

Please alter the way you are handling pop-ups on the site. It is very irritating
and time consuming to constantly have to remove pop up windows such as the one
attached to this suggestion. A simple command to acknowledge you have seen it
is more than sufficient.

This page is not up-to-date, but It should always be - as it is a quick reference

Per this exchange, I am formally asking for prices and stores to be shown again
in the Wanted List. Please vote!

My email to bugs@bricklink.com:
I am unable to see prices in my wanted list, and it takes many, many more
clicks to actually be able to find any shops with the parts that I want. I
depend on this feature, and need the old functionality restored as quickly
as possible.

Yesterday this page ( http://www.bricklink.com/wantedView.asp?wantedMoreID=
) allowed me to have access to some of the functionality I needed, but it
now redirects to the new, broken wanted list.

Please fix the wanted list.

Response from Bricklink:
Unfortunately this is not currently a function of the new wanted list feature. I am very sorry that you are not satisfied with the new wanted list feature. We provided users with the opportunity to provide feedback during our preview launch and have since applied much of that feedback. The redirect link was a bug and should not have ever led to the old pages. I understand that learning an entirely new feature can be a bit daunting and would be more than happy to help you with specific tasks if I am able. However, if you have any specific suggestions you would like to provide about how we can improve the wanted list please feel free to post them on the Suggestions topic of the Discussion Forum. This way other users that feel similarly can vote on these changes. This will be the most efficient way to get them addressed. Thank you!

Sincerely,
BrickLink Quality Assurance

Please bring back the date and time at the bottom of the page.

Whenever a time is mentioned on BrickLink, I check that clock to show me the
"BrickLink time". I need a method to verify that time because I am in a completely
different time zone. Having this reference makes it easy to determine what an
announcement will mean to me. Without that reference, for example, it will be
a guess when an announcement about maintenance will affect me.

Please add the ability to filter stores by specific country (checkbox or multi-select).
Now we can only choose one country or one region. Due to shipping costs, I
want to exclude unfavorable counties. This will be especially beneficial with
the new "auto-finder" feature.

Currently, I'm somewhat digging the new wanted list features; however I've
found something that just doesn't work efficiently.

When you select a wanted list within a store it does not recognize the subtractions
you've made from other purchases. The only workaround that I've found
is to add the store to my favorites and search from the Want pages. Adding to
my favorites only works well to find the store quickly because I never use the
"most" favorites.

Another flaw is that you cannot subtract items on your list by store batch.
Instead you MUST wait until the order is finalized else it will double count
previous batches. I realize this is probably working as intended, though sometimes
I find it overwhelming to do hundreds of lots at once.

Please tweak the new wanted list to work properly within stores.

As a Member of an AFOL club, I had heard many of our club members use the
Advanced Search option, which cant be easily found in the fragmented navigation
(http://www.bricklink.com/searchAdvanced.asp)

I'de would assume that most People that use Bricklink, would want to search
for items that they can purchase, and this would be the most fundamental link
to have easily found in the main navigation.

Please add Advanced Search to Main Navigation

We now need to explain to BL why we are closing our store.

I am closing for a few days this week because I want to get the current orders
out and take a few days off from Lego. The options given don't include that
choice. They do say "vacation" so I'll choose that one.

How about an this for an option: "Just taking some time off".

Really, I don't think I need to explain myself, but whatever, their sandbox.

Hey there,

First post on these boards. Love the new update, great work modernizing the site.
Quite happy with many of the changes, albeit a little learning curve!

I'm (thusfar) exclusively a buyer on Bricklink. Primarily I've been using
it over the last year to order missing parts for sets I've acquired in bulk
lots, for resale locally or on the ebay marketplace.

More recently I've been working on some MOCs though, and generating some
fairly large (250+ lots, 3k parts) wanted lists. The recent feature to generate
a Wanted list directly from an LXF file was an excellent addition... it was a
bit of a pain to rinse it through rebrickable before.... I digress...

In many cases this 'bug' would probably in fact be helpful, however,
the way the functionality is implied to work leads me to believe it's a bug.

Here's my example. I have this new MOC. I imported it and created what I've
called the Master List. I then imported a second instance to actually work off
of. As parts are acquired I simply delete them or reduce the wanted quantity
(haven't climbed the Wanted / Have learning curve yet).

So I'm shopping in a store, and sort by Wanted List. I deselect all, then
go down and select my MOC. I proceed to click Auto-fill Min Quantity and Add
to Cart. Repeat on page 2 and 3. When I go to view the cart I've got nearly
3k parts in 180 lots. The whole model is 292 lots and 3.5k parts... the math
wasn't adding up. So I emptied the cart and tried again, paying closer attention
this time.

As I browsed the list of parts it was adding to my cart, I noticed the quantities
it was adding with notes saying "Wanted on 2x Wanted Lists"... if you click the
"View" link, you can see that it was counting my quantities from both lists,
despite only the one MOC list being selected to pull from. I had to manually
go through one by one and adjust the quantity. It's great that the note is
there telling me the part is one 2x Wanted Lists, but it should only be adding
the combined quantity if I have both of them selected in the list-filter tab.
I couldn't find any way to omit the second list from being calculated into
the min wanted quantity.

Figured it was worth a mention!

Please allow customization of the green dot notifications on My Store and My
BL.

These green dot represents a call to action, however improperly notifying a user
of an action to perform causes them to ignore the green dot notification.

Example, I package an order on Saturday afternoon, I cannot ship until Monday
morning. The green dot provides a call to action to mark the package as shipped.
I can't, it is Saturday afternoon and there is no mail service. If go ahead
and mark the package as shipped, two things then happen.

1. The buyer immediately receives a green dot call to action notification to
mark the package as received.
Well, how can they? It is Saturday afternoon and the next mail service will
not run until Monday. So now for until at least Monday, the green dot notification
is completely useless.

2. Next if I mark the order as shipped on a Saturday afternoon, I immediately
get the green dot call to action notification to send the drive thru notification.
When I do this the buyer will get notified that I shipped the package....but
I didn't ship package because it is Saturday afternoon. There is no mail
service until Monday morning. So I send the drive thru notification on a Saturday
afternoon I am not being truthful to the buyer as I have stated that the package
has been shipped. (BTW BL's default drive thru states that the package has
been shipped).

The ability to turn on of off the notifications or provide a time lag of the
notifications would be greatly appreciated and make them useful.

Thank you,
Cob

Has work stopped on Bricklink updates? I noticed a lot of links don't work
on pages. If you are in messages, and click the community button, nothing happens.
You have to click the Bricklink button on the left to get to the home screen
for fully functionality.

Also a lot of other items don't work like stoplists.

Currently, when I search parts from my wanted list using the Autofinder it includes
stores that I have marked as Least Favourite in the result (without any warning).

The stores marked Least Favourite should be excluded from the search by default.

Currently, I have tried to block those stores by using:

1)
http://www.bricklink.com/searchSettings.asp
My Search Settings
Site-Wide Options:
Exclude Items in Stores which are on My Least Favorite Stores List

and

2)
http://www.bricklink.com/wantedSettings.asp
My Wanted List Settings
My Notification Options:
Exclude Items in Stores which are on My Least Favorite Stores List from View
and E-Mail Notifications

These settings apparently do not help to avoid these stores any longer.
PLEASE allow me to protect myself from sellers who I do not trust.

As far as I know, the main page has never been secure – at least not as long
as I've been a member. Given that this is where most people log in, this
is a huge problem. Their credentials are being sent over an unsecured connection.
Given that this site has had hacking issues in the past, one would think that
this would have been addressed by now. I'm disappointed to see in the new
design that this issue has not been addressed.

Not only is this bad for Bricklink's current users, but it makes the site
look amateurish to potential members, which in turn keeps them from being customers.

Please address this as soon as possible. Security shouldn't be seen as an
optional feature. It should be seen as mandatory for every site.

I would like to suggest that like items in my various WL lists use the same "Max
Price" value as defined when I first add an item to any WL.

I have 20+ WL. It is getting tedious entering the same "Max Price" value to the
same item across 12 WL lists.

Especially when the prices migrate upward over time and I need to adjust my "Max
Price" because the process change.

And yes, if I change a price, I should be asked if I want that price used across
my WL system or just for that particular WL. (yes, I know, you can never make
people happy! )

Thanks

On pages like this:

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=9496-1

Please remove the reference and link to the MSRP price. This is a new feature
that many have questioned. Although I don't think anyone has made a formal
suggestion to remove it.

I do not think this helps sales on BrickLink. On the contrary, as Tracy and others
noted, listing an MSRP that is lower than what the item sells for on BrickLink
could very well be sending buyers elsewhere, turning them off to BrickLink or
discouraging them from ordering such items here on BrickLink.

When I shop for LEGO online or in the real world at Target, TRU, WalMart and
other places, I have never seen any of these retailers list a lower MSRP alongside
their own higher price. Why in the world would they? It might make sense when
their prices are far below the MSRP, but never when prices are higher than the
MSRP.

My apologies, but I just don't see the purpose of listing the MSRP as far
as sales are concerned. It might have some minor passing appeal as a mere historical
reference for long discontinued sets, but how exactly does it help sales when
currently available sets are often priced higher here on BrickLink? Unless the
purpose is to bring down those prices? IMO, any usefulness in listing the MSRP
as a mere reference is greatly outweighed by the potential negative affect on
sales, turning off of buyers, and creating disputes between buyers and sellers
as to why a seller is charging more than the MSRP.

Profit is not a sin. It makes commerce possible. And it makes buyers able to
easily get what they want.

Have one universal cart that has lists of all of the shops beneath it. Example:
eBay;s cart page. It's too hard to keep track of 30 different stores AND
pay separately.

I know there's a lot of discussion about seller features (and reasonably
so!), but wanted to make a few for buyers, specifically about the Wanted List.

Ideally, I'd like to indicate how many I want and how many are ordered but
not yet received. It'd also be great to see a calculation (based on filters)
of average price new or used over the past month or 3. Lastly, I'd like
to have an aggregate list of parts wanted - if I need 5 from List X and 25 from
List Y, there should be list saying I need 30 total. Lastly, an export function
(or even a mobile function) so when I'm away from home, I can see what's
needed.

Thanks.

Maybe it's just me but there are a few features I would like to see added/changed
on Wanted Lists. I am not a big fan of making suggestions for problems that
could be considered small "inconveniences." I would rather have BrickLink work
on more complex issues. Sometimes there are workarounds I don't know about
and maybe someone has an easy solution here but I find I spend way too much time
organizing my wanted list after placing an order. There are some features that
could really make it easier.

To give you an idea of why I am suggesting this let me walk you through how I
organize my wanted lists. If you want to skip right to the suggestions just
go down to the bold text below.

When I set up my wanted lists I generally make a new list for each major project
I am working on. I also have 1 wanted list for sets and 1 for all the pieces
on projects where I am just missing a few pieces. On every item though I place
a remark that says what project the item is for. As an example I am working on
BrickLinking a Grand Carrousel and on all of those pieces I put "GC" in the remark
section.

After placing an order in a store the first thing I do is pull up the “items
in order on wanted list” page and also the order detail page. This is where
I spend all my time because I now have to go through these pages line by line
THREE times (at least most of the time it is 3 times, sometimes less):

1st time through - I mark which lots I bought that completed ALL the pieces
in that lot on my wanted list and then MOVE them to my "On Order" wanted list.
So if I had 20 pieces in 1 lot on my wanted list and bought all 20 from that
store I would mark the "move" checkbox on the wanted list and move them to "On
Order." For those that I didn't buy all the parts in the lot it gets more
complicated. For those I have to check the box on the order page to remind myself
to come back to those the 2nd time through.

2nd time through - I now have to go back through the list again and mark
all of those items where the whole lot wasn’t bought at once, and COPY them to
my on order wanted list. So if I bought 12 of the 20 items in one lot I still
need 8 to be in the original wanted list and 12 to be in the on order wanted
list. However, just copying isn't enough, because now it says I have 20
pieces on my wanted list and 20 pieces on order which we know isn’t true.

3rd time through – Once again I have to go through the lists and now change
the numbers on the copied lots to reflect what was actually purchased and what
still remains. Using the same example above, I now need to change the lot on
my wanted list to show I need 8 and my on order list to show I have 8 coming.

On top of all of this there are multiple situations that make this even more
difficult and easy to mess up:

-Sometimes I have already bought some items from a lot and I have to change the
numbers on each wanted list. Say I had bought 12 of the 20 items from one lot
and then I buy 5 more from another store. When going through I now have to pay
attention to this and change the 12 to 17 and the 8 to 3.

-What about when the same part is on multiple wanted lists? Well say I had 20
of an item on wanted list A and 13 of that item on wanted list B and bought 30
from a store because that's all they have; well now when I go through the
lists I have to copy one of the lots over to the on order wanted list (can’t
do both because, you can’t have the same lot on a wanted list twice). From there
I now have to change the quantity to reflect how many I have purchased, but I
also have to change the remark to reflect that 20 go with Wanted List A and 13
go with Wanted List B. If I don’t do this I won’t have any idea where these
pieces go when I get them.

-Also it gets more complicated with only a certain number of items fitting on
a wanted list page at a time. I believe the limit is 50. When copying and moving
lots between wanted lists this gets very confusing and easy to lose track of
lots.

I have spent hours organizing wanted lists. Depending on the order size, this
can be a simple process or a very complex one. But I think that the time
spent here warrants some modification to the way wanted lists work. I explain
all of this simply to show you the complexity associated with keeping an organized
wanted list when working on multiple projects at the same time. Like I said before,
maybe there is an easy workaround and I would love to know it if there is but
if there isn’t there are a few changes I would love to see implemented that could
greatly simplify this process.

I am not sure what the easiest solution would be but these are some suggestions
I think would work help greatly:

- Make it so you can add a lot onto a wanted list that already has that lot.
Right now you get an error when you try to do that but if you could do it anyways
and have the option of consolidating the lots / remarks that would be great AND/OR
just allow a lot to be on a wanted list more than once. This way I can have
two of the same lot with different remarks because they go to different projects.
- Make wanted lists capable of showing more than 50 items at once. If an orders
page can contain all lots I think that a wanted list should be capable of it
as well.
-Create some move/copy function that can split the lot. I have 10 items on Wanted
List A and I want to move 6 of them to Wanted List B and keep 4 on Wanted List
A.
-Separate the Move function and the Copy function. This would
at the very least allow steps 1 and 2 to be combined.
-Update the "Show Items In Order on Wanted List" to include the quantity instead
of just the lot. That way it could actually do much of what I am explaining
already. This one would probably require a large change to though. Wishful
thinking here.

Maybe not all of these suggestions are necessary, I am just trying to give some
ideas.

Thanks to anybody that made it through that rambling mess, I guess that's
what I feel Wanted Lists are A Mess.

Thanks,
Pete

When viewing a list of parts in a wanted list showing witch shop has this.
For small numbers this list is OK. But my problem is when you mave more and select
more to view the others. Say you wieving a red 2x2 brick. it list say 10 shops
and have 200 more in the result.

Then the view is svitched to normal part view. Why could it not list more shops
as it does in the first view.
Thia makes it harder to see witch shop has the right number of parts to an OK
price.

I was reading in another thread about how a large percentage of site visitors
click on the "buy" tab and then don't go anywhere else. I got to thinking
that maybe a list of parts categories is just overwhelming for some people especially
non-AFOLs.

I could envision the first page after clicking "buy" about the same (although
the "sets", "parts", etc. links could be enhanced with images) but once a visitor
clicks on "parts" I think it would really be helpful to have an image for each
parts category showing some of the more common parts in that category. This
way visitors can get a basic idea of what it means to be a "brick, modified"
or a "container" even if the part they're looking for is not on the category
image link. It would certainly take up more space but at the same time I think
it would make it easier (especially for a new visitor) to browse to the correct
category.

I'm a very visual person (I suspect maybe a lot of my fellow AFOLs are also),
and I think this could help retain site visitors. You could even have a link
at the bottom with something like, "Still can't find what you're looking
for? Ask in the forum," that takes the user right to a guest account for posting
in the forum. This would also introduce them to the community which is one of
BrickLink's major assets that sets us apart.

I'd even be happy to provide some images for the various categories.

Dear Developers!

After checkout there's a link called
"(Wanted List Items in this Order)"
We also have links on the orders placed page to check the wanted items of every
order.

When clicking the links we'll see the complete wanted list entries regarding
the purchased items but it's not possible to see the quantity of the parts
we ordered.

If - for example - 30 blue 2x4 bricks were ordered and the wanted list contains
80 blue 2x4 bricks we have to remember the 30 ordered bricks when we want to
subtract them to get the rest of the wanted blue 2x4 bricks.

It's very complicated to open the order detail list in a second window and
the wanted items of this order in another window and then manually go line by
line through the order and the wanted list, especially if many lots are ordered
and only few of them are on the wanted list.
It's even more complicated to remember all quantities when only opening the
link to the wanted items without a second window.

Tracking of purchased quantity vs. wanted list quantity is currently NOT possible.

When going to my wanted list, regardless if through the links from the orders
placed page or through the link after checkout or through any other way, I
would like to see for each wanted lot:

- Purchased quantity of items, separated by order, number should contain a link
to the order detail screen.

Decreasing the quantity in the wanted list should stay manually as I personally
first wait for receiving the items before I decrease them in my list.

Thanx for thinking about
Ronald

Seller after seller falls into difficult times and finds they really need to
close their store to stem the tide of new orders.

If sellers have 20/20 foresight and can tell the future, they know when to shutdown
their store *before* they become sick, before that car accident that leaves them
in a coma in the hospital, before the massive power outage that shuts down their
city.

How many sellers on BL are great at predicting the future?

I know I'm not. Otherwise I would have shut my store down BEFORE the massive
power outage that is currently affecting my area.

My suggestion is this: Change the current lower minimum time on auto-shutdown
of av store from 3 days to something more realistic like 1 day ....or even 12
hours.

Technically, I can't see BL having a problem with that ... they auto-disconnect
users after 15 - 30 minutes of browser inactivity and preform daily site maintenance.
Surely doing a daily check on stores that have not been active in the last 24
hours (only for those sellers who actively select that time frame), is possible.

BL may have some philosophical or ethical reason for this 3 day limit, but I
can not see what it could be.

The current 3 day limit only exacerbates the situation and does not make for
happy buyers or sellers. Buyers are unhappy because their sellers are ignoring
them; Sellers are unhappy as is soon as they are back on their feet physically
or electronically, they may have to go into over-drive to process the backlog
of orders that occurred before they could shutdown their store

Who knows more about when and how often a given seller logs into his/her store?
The store owner or BrickLink?

Grumpy seller still without power after 1.5 days ...and 3 new orders to process
when I do get power back

I'm trying to build a collection of technic parts, starting by parting out
various sets to get a good balance of different parts. However, doing this ends
up with all the parts to build each model, which is not something I care much
about. Instead, I want to make sure I have enough of each part to, at most, build
any one of the models among those I've parted out.

Thus, I'd really appreciate a feature that would let me merge two wanted
lists with different ways of combining the counts - maximum count, maximum plus
25% of the other, sum of the two (for other uses than mine), etc.

Please give sellers the OPTION to require buyers to select insure or not insure
when submitting an order in their shop. Currently, BrickLink only offers a single
checkbox for insurance only, which need not be checked for the order to go through.
As mentioned here:

http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=435576

having the buyer make a deliberate affirmative choice to insure or not insure
is better than the buyer making a passive choice which may not be a conscious
choice at all.

This could work similar to the "I Will Pay By" choices given by sellers who accept
multiple forms of payment, the "I Will Pay In" choices given by sellers who accept
payments in multiple currencies, and the "I would like my order to be shipped
by" choices given by sellers who offer multiple shipping options. See therobo's
checkout page for an example of these choices. If a choice is not made by the
buyer, BrickLink will not allow the order to be submitted. The order can only
be submitted if the buyer makes a choice. As with the shipping choices, each
seller could add a sentence or two explaining the insurance and no insurance
choices. I think allowing this OPTION could help eliminate or resolve some of
the problems that arise with orders that are lost or damaged during shipment.
Again, this is an OPTION for those sellers who want it. If anyone does not want
to use it, they don't have to.

Today the forum received about 200-300 (?) spam posts from 1 user which were
cancelled quickly. Thanks for that.

I suggest to remove those cancelled from the forum completely as they
clutter the forum very much and give new forum users a bad experience.
This request only applies to messages where it is obvious that it's spam.
In all other circumstances cancelled posts should not be removed because they
can tell a story by their own existence in a current thread.

There used to be a exclude incomplete checkbox on the catalog page. Any chance
we can get this back. You can put it right below the exclude superlots checkbox.

Hi. I'm sorry to be so negative but the changes to the catalog's part
view page are TERRIBLE.

I buy on BrickLink, I sell on BrickLink, but BrickLink is also an invaluable
resource when building. I need to be able to look up a part and see at a glance
the whole list of known colours and what ones are currently being sold. It is
really not acceptable to load the page and then have to click a drop down list
to see colors, then click known colors, then scroll just to see what those are,
and then have to do more work to see what is being sold of each. It's really,
really, really not useful compared to the old page layout. The old page layout
had this visible immediately when the part page loaded.

Please change this back as soon as possible. There should be a list of all known
colors and a list of all colors for sale at a minimum. This is important because
there may be known colors of some parts but they aren't for sale.

Also, it's generally bad idea in UI design to use a drop down list with more
than 8 or so options. If this cannot be changed back then the drop down list
should at least be made bigger so you don't have to scroll.

Bricklink is a Global marketplace. Awesome. So let's looks like one.

Not sure if it is just the American in me, but logging in to a site and seeing
a little red Chinese flag in the corner of the site with some chinese characters
next to it, just sets off a lot of little alarm bells in my head. It reminds
me of that movie with Sandra Bullock, The Net, where there was a little hidden
symbol on a page and when you clicked on it you were taken to somewhere bad.

If I were a new user and unfamiliar with the site that little icon might make
me think twice about using the site.

Why not do this like most other Global companies do it. Have the main domain
go to a splash page of sorts. A very plain page with a Large Bricklink logo
in the middle and right below it a dropdown box that says choose your location.
Then for now they can have North America and China (the only two localizations
currently available) then as other languages are made available you can easily
add the links for those to the dropdown and users can be directed the the version
that best suits them. Also below that dropdown box have a checkbox that says
Remember this setting on my computer. Checking this box will create a cookie
file so that the next time the user comes to the site they will be auto-directed
to the proper site.

Here are some examples of other companies that use this approach:

http://www.ups.com/
http://www.fedex.com/

Option 2 - You could do what companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google and many
others do and that is route the user based on their IP address. For instance
when I go to http://www.microsoft.com I am seamlessly redirected to http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/default.aspx
with no interaction on my part. And then at the bottom left side of the page
they have a picture of a globe, not a US Flag mind you, with the words United
States - English after the globe. If I click on that it takes me to a page when
I can then pick a different localization if for some reason I didn't want
to be on the US site. I know though that this option can be problematic espeically
for people who may be visiting or temporarily living outside of their home country
that they may want to view the site in.

Or Option 3 - If the above 2 take too long to implement. For now just remove
the Chinese flag!! Chinese in this case is a language, you shouldn't need
a national flag to represent that. Isn't the Chinese language used by
more people than just those living in China? Plus, When you click on the link,
to come back it just says Eng? No British or US flag? So why do you feel the
need for the China National flag? Also move the link to the footer of the page,
not the header. Most of the other large sites I am looking at have it in the
footer. And most are just simple text links. Look at Amazon.com for another
example. So internet users are used to having to look for it in the footer,
if they need it. Plus in the upper right there, what happens if you add even
more localizations, are you going to have 30 flags up there in that little tiny
space?

Now I know I gave you 3 options so since they don't give us an option for
a poll in the forum it will be hard to vote on. So how about this, A yes vote
just means that Bricklink needs to look at these options and do something to
change the way localization is currently. A no vote means you are 100% happy
with the way they rolled it out so far

Okay, I can deal with it, but some punctuation would be nice. Bolder categories
too.
