Seems to me anyway, that simply restricting zero feedback members the use of
links in the forum, would immediately eliminate most current spam posts and deter
future ones. Haven’t been looking that close at these posts, but from what I’ve
seen, it’s presenting links they have as a common purpose or motivation. Removing
motivation is often a subtle yet effective tack in life.

Could be that it’s not all that simple, technically to implement. I don’t know,
but if doable, why not? Personally don't find the spam posts all that bothersome.
Many do though, and if there's an easy fix to tidy things up a bit...

When clicking Buy All on a Wanted List and then clicking Auto-Select, only third-party
stores are listed. The price of a part is often (but not always) cheaper from
LEGO's PaB website than from any third-party store. Also, PaB shipping is
free if the order is at least $35, whereas shipping costs can really add up when
buying from third-party stores. LEGO has owned BL for almost half a decade.
Why is LEGO's PaB website not included among the stores on BL?

(I tried to search for this suggestion in the Forum but didn't find anything)

I already found a way to add parts from an order to My Collection (using XML).
To avoid ordering the same part again, it would be helpful to see how many of
that part is already in my collection when building a Wanted List.

The "Have" box in the Wanted List is just valid for that list, and entered
one part by one, as far as I could see, so that doesn't help. I'm not
a seller, so I just want to use My Collection to track what I already have and
use it to build new Wanted lists.

Thanks,

M

Hi, I was wondering if it would be possible that Stud.IO will ever become an
app. I would really look forward to be able to make and edit LEGO models on my
tablet!

I have seen a lot of sellers offer multiple different discounts. It would be
nice to have a filter that you can choose the discounts you want to see instead
of just all sales. Like if a shop has different sale percentages at 10, 25, 30,
50 and 75 percent off you could filter for everything above 50%.

Please give 3001special access to all colors in the catalog, including Modulex
colors.

Often when uploading test bricks, it is hard to find the exact color, so having
all colors available is a must.

Also, some test bricks actually come in Modulex colors.

It would be great if this can be added.

Thanks,
Maxx

My idea comes from my friend group and family that lives pretty much all over
Europe and US. We would like to buy each other figures or sets for events
and holidays like Christmas, birthdays or even have a wishlist for any occassion
like a wedding registry. As we don't always know which figure or set someone
is missing and as adresses change it would be nice to have a wishlist like people
on amazon have where you pick figures or sets you need and want and someone else
can buy them for you. Content creators can put them in their bios on social media,
people can put them on their wedding registries, for their birthdays etc. People
could support their favorite content creators and not have acess to their adress,
friends that are not on the adress sharing level can also do that, members of
family can have a way easier time finding something you actually want without
the hassle of looking for it and packing and sending it. It would be a really
fun idea all around imo with a lot of ways to surprise someone.

Since sellers are NOT supposed to set orders to Complete.....

Can we make it so they can't?

Because when a seller does it by mistake, we can not send a ship notice thru
the system

Thanx

About two weeks ago, I made 23 purchases (carts) over two days.
One of those sellers is MIA, and has not changed the cart status from "paid",
nor is replying to any messages.

So today, I decide to create another wishlist and add those items again.
This split down into two carts.
Since Easter is Sunday, I messaged the sellers directly, pre-purchase, to inquire
about expedited shipping methods, and if they were able to physically fulfill
the order on such short notice.
While corresponding with two separate sellers; I tried to reply, and was told
"Oops, you have exceeded your message limit.".

This created a "frantic" situation for me; as I was already against the
clock. I had to figure out how to message them off-site, and finish my pre-purchase
conversations.

I understand bots and reasons for security measures.
But it feels this ones a little too tight, as I had already made 23 purchases
before this happened.

I'm in my mid 40's and recently designed my childhood home on stud.io.
Super amazing software. As a cad/cam engineer and software developer myself,
it was a delight!

So, my house has over 8,000 pieces, which resulted in numerous orders through
BrickLink.
After placing over 20 orders, I receive multiple emails.
One from Bricklink for each purchase.
One from PayPal for each purchase.
Another from BrickLink once the order has shipped.
Another from PayPal once the order has shipped.

Each of these emails use various names, or email address, or store names.
It's confusing to identify which email goes with which order.
I often find myself scrolling through emails, looking for a store username, so
I can match it to my BrickLink orders page.

MY SUGGESTION:

Please add the sellers store name (perhaps under the username?) on the buyers
orders page.
This would seriously help with identifying which order goes with which email,
without having to physically click into each order, and find the store name.

Alternatively, if maintaining a single row on the orders page is preferred, could
we maybe add the store name as a "hover" when mousing over the store
username?

Thank you for the consideration.

Why is it that i can set default condition (used or new) when searching things,
but the list of stores from different countries is not an option. i want to look
at just the USA stores, nothing more or less. let me set a default for everything,
or USA only when searching..

Hello Developer Team,

prior to my request I want to thank you all for your great website! I use it
really a lot to manage my Lego collection.

My request:
i have a wanted list for each of my uncomplete set. The lists are named in a
certain pattern. There are some generic wanted lists as well which i prefix with
an exclamation mark.
When adding an item I need to select the wanted list. It would be nice to have
a setting for the sort order of the wanted lists in the add dialog. Currently
it seems it is sorted by id, it would also be great by name or other properties.

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Gerald

Why can we not have all our messages go into our inbox on Bricklink? When someone
messages a seller who doesn’t have an order we get an email from BL with the
message. The message reply email isn’t even to the person asking the question.
You have to remove the BL email and put in their email or it will just go
to a dead box. It seems so simple to keep track of if we just keep all messages
on BL. It would even be better if we didn’t give out email addresses like most
other sites already block. They may also stop the spam we are all getting. Just
my 2 cents.

Maybe for more focused attention by both admin and membership alike, a new forum
Topic Charter may benefit the site? To concentrate reporting, solutions, announcements
etc. Unlike most other topics, this one really benefits from expedited awareness.

So structured, black hats may also benefit I suppose?

I don't know, it's just a thought while weeding through the forum for
the newest happenings and concerns with this seemingly ongoing matter.

The color guide is very cool and useful. I would find it even more useful if
the user could select the starting date (or ending date, perhaps). That way,
I could better understand how many parts are available in different colors *now*
(or in the last 5 years, or last 10 years, etc.). If making it selectable is
difficult, even just a single other option (say, going back 10 years from the
present) would be useful. Thanks for considering.

I'd like to write remarks about items in My Collection, particularly to specify
which parts are missing from a "Used, Incomplete" minifig, and to identify
third-party parts. Wanted Lists already have this feature, but serve a different
purpose.

Spam by new accounts promoting drugs etc seems to be a recurring problem.

I suggest that a feedback rating of 1 or higher be required to post in the forums,
or new accounts could be prevented from creating a new thread for 30 days.

I’m sure this had been suggested before, but I just received my first neutral
feedback (sad day) from a new buyer. I’d be more inclined to be accepting the
neutral if it was from a seasoned bricklinker, but I don’t think these new buyers
realize the impact of their feedback. Honestly, I would even care if it actually
fell off at some point. So here’s my suggestion:

Neutral feedback to fall off of the percentage calculation after 500 orders or
6 months whichever comes second.
Negative feedback to fall off of the percentage calculation after 1000 orders
or 1 year.

I picked 500 and 1000 because they are substantial numbers

There should be room for redemption.

It would be very helpful to allow members to subscribe to threads and topics.
Particularly for threads if they have participated in the thread.

With all the catalog merges going on, it's unreasonable to expect BL members
to have to monitor hundreds of unrelated posts to know when significant changes
occur. I understand why BL wouldn't want to push notifications to every member
for these changes but allowing us to opt in to discussions that matter to us
would provide an significant and immediate benefit to everyone.

Even being aware of the merges and seeing the list from the first big batch,
I was caught up in a lot of frustration from unexpected consequences and subsequent
merges that didn't receive the same level of attention.

Hi,

I would appreciate if you could feature the "pay with card" on the fee
page:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/fee.page

as prominent as the Painpal-Button. Since you use Stripe I guess there is a Stripe-Button
available somewhere. Actually if would be awesome if you could get rid off Painpal
altogether

Thanks,

w.

Would it be possible for users to access other users' wanted lists?
Or for a user to generate an easy link that could be sent to others users so
they can see our wanted lists?
That way we won't have to send a bunch of pictures to people, with whom we
want to trade etc.

I suggest an option where you can order the wanted list on "missing parts".

Yes, you can order on "have quantity", and so you already have the parts
with quantity 0 easily selected.

But it would be nice if you could easily order/group also the parts which are
partly present.

Kind regards,
Gert

Is it possible to make an export of your order and import it to your own inventory.
Now I do that manually brick by brick. It would be great if you can make an CSV
file of all the parts you have ordered and import them easily into your own collection/inventory.

Should there be another topic charter added (even if provisionally) to the Reference
Catalog topic of the Discussion Forum?

To better isolate and handle the added inquires, corrections and concerns of
that ongoing site wide process?

As was done for the question of taxes, when collection was implemented:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1244764

Just a thought...

Not sure in which topic this would fit, but I would like to make the following
request/suggestion:

Would it be possible to have the colour already selected if a piece is chosen
from the colour guide.

For example I am in the colour guide for medium blue and searching for a particular
slope. When I find the slope I have and want to put in my inventory I select
the picture and I am linked to the page of that piece. I would like that page
to open up with the colour already selected to save a step. Is that possible?
This would save me a fair amount of time when entering pieces.

Would this be helpful to anyone else?

On some other Lego related sites, you can see the original MSRP/RRP of sets,
which is just a nice feature for historical purposes. However, Bricklink does
not have this function.
I know this isn't really a feature that needs to be added, but it would greatly
enhance the user experience of the site.

Apologies in advance, I'm sure this has been requested before, but... when
a buyer requests additional photos of a certain detail of a set/lot/part, it's
very cumbersome to use the existing system of navigating to My Images, uploading
a photo, getting the link, and pasting the link into the message. At that point
it's easier to do essentially the same thing with Dropbox, Flickr. Imgur,
or similar, since those hosts are quicker and easier to use than BL's image
functionality.

So why can private messages simply include a function to drag or upload a locally
stored image from your computer or device right there in the PM composition window?

Thanks!

Would it be possible to enhance (or better yet, replace) the forum interface
to allow functionality like the following:

- Likes and other reactions to posts and comments (a sometimes useful indicator
of whether a view is widely shared or an outlier; and also enables people to
chime in without having to post their own "me too" comments)

- Ability to quote more than one prior comment (without having to do so totally
manually)

- Ability to reply to more than one comment if the prior comments are in different
sub-branches of the thread

- Ability to edit comments rather than cancelling them altogether and starting
over

It seems there are a good number of simple, plug-and-play forum software systems
around today that enable such features and much more without a whole lot of administrative
setup effort.

Thanks!

To my knowledge, there is currently no way to search stores by location beyond
the state/province level.

Would it be possible to be able to search down to the city level, or perhaps
by distance from your own location? And would it be possible to add a "local
pickup" checkbox in sellers' store configuration pages so that buyers
could search stores based on that criterion?

If you want to revisit a store you've previously ordered from and you click
on My BL--Orders to get to your Orders Placed page. you cannot directly
access the store. You have to click on the feedback rating of the store, and
then from the resulting feedback page you can click on a link that takes you
to the store.

Since the Orders Placed page already lists the name of each store next to its
feedback rating, can that store name be made clickable so it takes you directly
to the store?

Thanks!

The settings for how many items to display on each page of your Want List or
a store's selection of your Want List items are not "sticky." In
other words, you have to select your preferred display option for each store
you visit and each time you look at your Want List.

Same for the order in which your Want Lists are displayed: if you select any
sorting option other than the BL default of "Newest," there is no way
to make your preference your own personal default. You have to set it again every
time you view your Want Lists.

Similarly, the order in which parts are displayed/sorted defaults to one order
if you view 25 per page, but to a different order if you change the setting to
view 50 or 100 per page. It would be great if each user could set their default
number of elements per page and their default sorting order. Wouldn't this
just be a matter of writing these preferences to existing cookies that BL sets
anyway?

Thanks!

When using the Buy function from a Want List, seller notes are not visible in
the list of stores that come up as having some or all of your wanted parts.

Of course I understand there's no room for seller notes in the list of stores
itself - but when you click "Select" on a store, that brings up a window
where you can see which of your Want List parts they have and what their prices
are. In THAT window, seller notes do not appear, and so you cannot know if a
part is discolored, scratched, or otherwise damaged.

Can seller notes please be made visible when we are browsing stores during the
Want List Buy process?

Thanks!

An element/part's number, and a link to its catalogue entry are not available
for items in a shopping cart when you click on the cart from the store's
page.

However, the element/part number and catalogue link ARE available for shopping
cart items if you click on the cart from your Cart menu.

Can shopping cart item element numbers and catalogue links please be made available
regardless of how you got to your shopping cart view?

Thanks!

I think it would be a great idea if we could search for parts and see results
(if available) from stores that you have existing carts with, maybe as a filter
in the search results.

BrickLink needs to use webp image format.

I've noticed the beta version of the site is displaying PNG format images,
and the O.G. site is using SVG images where possible to save on data transfer.

webp images will, in general, be smaller than any of JPEG, PNG, or GIF.

I've made this suggestion to the dev team at Trello years ago, and... they
did take a long time to implement it, and even had replied saying it was a low
priority.

But they did, within the year, and ... it has a host of benefits.

- this image format supports both lossy and lossless image compression
- transparency/alpha-channel support
- well developed libraries to implement webp into BrickLink's codebase have
been around for a decade
- wide file support on most modern web browsers the past decade
- much smaller file sizes than JPEG, PNG, or GIF

This last one matters most:

- webhosting costs would be reduced (bandwidth both up and down)
- file limits, file size limits could be relaxed for users
- smaller files mean that the pages sent to browsers can render faster, giving
the user a better, faster experience

Please consider adding webp support. Even if it's only pushed into the newer
beta interface!

Can you please for the love of god implement an option to save your search criteria?

Every time I need to click the same parameters for my search. Would be so easy
if you could save that a a default or something.

Suggestion: Option to save search criteria.

Sure would be great if I could just download a wishlist and then re-upload it
to my collection! Not sure if the latter has comments allowing me to keep track
of whether I have built the set or not, but still. Seems odd that the collection
upload won't recognise the downloaded wishlist XML regardless of how many
fields I remove from it. Just keeps giving me "could not find in catalog"
for all sets, whether xxxx-1 or xxxx.

So there's been some heated discussion about the recent decision to consolidate
certain Bricklink part entries. For example, the merger of certain parts with
open studs and parts with blocked studs. Much has been said about the fact that
people rely on Bricklink as a catalog as well as a marketplace, and how the removal
of this information is detrimental to the future success of the LEGO hobby. But
I think what has been missing from this conversation is a reasonable alternative
to the current status quo. Instead of simply deleting the nuanced information
that has been carefully curated over decades by an army of dedicated volunteers,
I have an alternate suggestion:

Go ahead and consolidate part entries. Do it. Even the ones with stickers. Put
'em all in one place. 2x3 Slope? One entry. But wait! What's this? A
drop-down menu! This one lets users look at the many different colors that the
part comes in. And Hark! I spy another drop-down menu beside the first! This
one seems to list the different mold variants! Avast me hearties! A third drop-down
menu! With the different stickered and printed variants! That's right--I'm
proposing treating mold variants, printed variants, and stickered variants in
the same way that colors are currently handled.

Each drop-down menu would be filtered according to the selection made in the
other two drop-down menus. For example, suppose a part came in both a glossy
and a matte finish. However, the sand-blue version of the part only ever came
in the matte finish. So when a user selects "Sand Blue" from the part's
Color drop-down menu, the Mold drop-down menu would automatically filter to only
include the Matte option. Perhaps the same part also came in the color green,
with both Gloss and Matte mold variants. Then when selecting "Green"
from the Color drop-down munu, the user would still have the choice of selecting
either Gloss or Matte from the Mold drop-down menu.

Of course, each menu would have an "undetermined" option, which would
be the default option in order to allow sellers and buyers ease of use.

My point is that the solution to this catalog complexity is not the removal of
crucial information. There is a better way, and I believe the incredible Bricklink
team has the opportunity to simultaneously simplify the user experience while
retaining the nuance that has made Bricklink the defacto LEGO parts catalog for
so many wonderful years.

Am I crazy, or is there room for compromise?

Hi Bricklink gurus

Please consider staging BDP pre-order times by country timezones. It's fine
if you're close to the US, but for anyone on the opposite side of the world,
getting up at 0400hrs is crazy (I mean, I did it, but missed out on the BPD series
4 castle, the only one I wanted).

Also, 30,000 unit limit? What the heck? If you get past the minimum order required,
surely it should be open ended after that.

Regards, Disappointed Aussie.

Currently you can sort a Wanted List by 'Have Qty' and 'Want Qty'.

However when looking to complete a wanted list what I really care about is how
many parts I still need, or in other words the 'Want Qty' minus the 'Have
Qty'.

I would like to suggest adding a new sorting option 'Need Qty', which
would simply sort the list by the difference between Want and Have.

For example, given the following 3 parts:

- Part1 [Want 4, Have 2] Need = 4-2 = 2
- Part2 [Want 6, Have 5] Need = 6-5 = 1
- Part3 [Want 2, Have 4] Need = 2-4 = -2

As far as I can tell there is no way to currently sort these parts in this order;
By the number of parts that still need to be acquired to complete the list.

I find both 'Have' and 'Want' to not be very useful when sorting,
as it's the difference between the two that actually matters for a wanted
list.

So I would like to suggest adding the ability to sort by this metric. While I
refer to it as 'Need Qty' here, any name could be used that conveys the
intent sufficiently.

I am aware of the 'Hide Items if Have Qty is ≥ Want Qty' Filter option,
and it is very useful. I still believe that even with this enabled that it would
be useful to be able to sort by the remaining delta of these two values.

Howdy, Friends at Bricklink!

Currently when I view my Wanted List within a store, it shows me ALL items in
the selected Wanted List, even if I no longer need the item. It would help if
I could filter the view to JUST items I "Need", not all the items and
Need and Have. This would save a whole lot of time and headaches. I have a Wanted
List with over 500 items that I am almost done fulfilling, and it would be easier
and faster to just see if the parts I need are in stock in the store, and not
everything I already have.

Thanks for considering my suggestion.

Hello Friends at Bricklink!

I have a suggestion for the "Orders Placed" page. Please allow for a
longer history of orders. I (as well as other professional builders) get to write
off our Bricklink orders on our taxes, and it doesn't help that my orders
expire from the page. If I need to reference them for tax season, they aren't
there. Currently I only show orders up till September 2023, but not before. It
would help to have access to orders *at least* going back to January 2023.

Thank you for considering this. It would make a huge difference to see this change
take place.

When listing a part to sell, there should an additional status of "damaged."

"New" is obvious, but "Used" covers a whole lot of ground. Relying
on comments for the part condition is going to lead to a bad experience for both
selling and buying parties, especially when I have to go multiple layers down
in the rulebook to find the statement expectation. And it doesn't say that
comments are "required," it says that comments "'should'
be noted in the item description." Again, opportunity for a bad experience.
Is "should" being used as an expectation or requirement??

This could also be resolved with the addition of a "damaged" status.
The primary win would be a damaged part labeled as "used" would be clearly
in the buyers protection. As a seller, I would argue if I have a damaged part
listed as "used," I am not in the wrong for missing a comment as there
is no clear requirement. But if I had a "damaged" status, all is clear.

Hi.

I wish for an automated tool/script to add comments to lots that are merging
15th Feb.

Adding the comments, combined with physical checks are very time consuming.

Since there are many shops who have their store combined with regular jobs like
myself.
The time i have available to put towards my shop is limited.

This fact combined with to continue to operate the shop and serve customers gives
even smaller windows of time available towards backtracking inventory adding
comments.

I feel like a automated tool towards adding the comments to the lots is a fairly
simple project; but it could give loads of time because it enables the user to
postpone the physical check after feb 15th while maintaining their inventory
as is with difference in their lots.

Kind regards

At the top middle of the website is a quick search into All Item. Autocomplete
kicks in when search results are available and show the part image and name.
Can you also display the part color?

The use case is that I'm picking parts from a list of part numbers. I could
easily type in the part number and the quick search results will show a brief
description of the part. However, it doesn't tell me the part color.

I think to settle the issue of whether or not bricklink should merge catalog
entries, the admins should put up a voting page where we have until Feb. 1 to
vote.

All in favour of this idea reply yes/ I

(For those of you think that even if this is success nothing will happen please
keep your thoughts to yourself, reply’s are for public voting)

Others in favour of the merger please, don’t say anything, this is for the people
who are appealing the merge.

Hi,

I try to optimise the storage of my parts. To do this, I am using the EB-AFIT
Pallet Loading Algorithm. Actually, I determine the dimensions of the parts by
converting the studs. Some Parts have no dimensions in stud but have packing
dimensions, for exemple :

Part No: 2780 Name: Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
*
2780 Technic, Pin with Short Friction Ridges
Parts: Technic, Pin {Black}

The XML file of my inventory (downloaded from https://www.bricklink.com/invExcel.asp)
contains only the dimensions of the parts are expressed in stud. I've also
checked in the API, the dimensions are also expressed in stud.

It will be great to retrieve packing dimensions through an exportation tool.

Thanks for your reading, regards.

To be able to share short video clips here in the forum, not just pic files?

Even though we’ve had 4 suggestions over the years implemented, I just don’t
how doable this would be, the technical limitations or cost to the site.

But just imagine how much it would expand the ability to help others with various
issues, to showcase a LEGO project, the running of a store, or how to assemble
something, etc. Imagine too, the entertainment value brought to the site. In
other words, pragmatic and fun.

For example, on the fun side of the equation; I would’ve really like to have
shared a short video clip I took this morning during my workout down at the shore,
showing a pod of whales spouting, just to the left of the pic. But if video was
enabled somehow

Just a thought...

Hi,

I noticed that just about every morning that there are tons of deleted posts
about non-Lego things and are basically just advertisements. I thought, what
if you had to have at least one positive feedback to post on the forum. I just
think that would help out the discussions moderator and we would not have to
look at tons of deleted posts. I understand some new users may have a question
about something but this would really help out the moderators.

I would like to suggest we delete any Bad/neutral feedback from 2020. I have
4 bad feedback and they where in 2020 due to delay in service with USPS. This
should not be Sellers fault. This would help all Sellers if we delete ALL Neutral
feedback and Negative feedback from 2020. I care about my customers and appreciate
having positive feedback to help build my store percentage.

I'm sure this has been posted hundreds of times, but I'd love a dark
mode, especially for browsing at night in bed haha. I know theres technically
a dark (blue) mode, but it really only affects 2% of the site's pages overall
appearance.

Not a major suggestion but would be cool

I use the option

View a printer-friendly version of this page [with temporary checkboxes]

at the bottom of inventory pages often, but would be able to use it better if
there was some sort of input field on parts with a quantity over 1 to keep track
without denoting the part as inventoried (check-boxed).

Currently Im using scrap paper; if a part is multiple but incomplete, I draw
the piece, maybe make a color note, and do hash marks until I have the entire
quantity and THEN can do the checkbox on my computer.

I want to get rid of the paper part since I'm already so close to a great
system with the provided databases and the "[with temporary checkboxes]"
page, but to be able to this all digital would make the page much more functional.

I wouldn't mind suggestions for inventory software or just general tips for
cataloguing sets (mostly dug from lots) either.

thanks,
Pete

In the top right corner of the wanted list there is an Indicator of the percentage
of the number parts wanted on the list in relation to the parts owned in the
list.

The list can be sorted among other criteria by "Wanted Qty" or "Have
Qty".
It would be very helpful, if the list could also be sorted by "Still neeede
Qty" (effectively Wanted Qty minus Have Qty).

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,
is it maby an option to only allow to post in most topics (except help or other
question related topics) with 1 feedback.

That way maby the spammers will find it less likely reducing post containing
spam and such, freeing up valuable time for the admins/mods.

Kind regards

I wonder if it would be possible to move this option from its current obscure
position on the Troubleshooting page to a more prominent position on the sales
order page. As a buyer, I noticed that every time the seller didn't have
enough of an item on the order, the seller would just give me a credit. This
is not the correct way. That doesnt adjust sales tax or fees. It doesnt give
the buyer an opportunity to approve or disapprove the adjustment either. Recently
I had this problem as a seller and it ended with my buyer getting irritated because
she says she didnt receive the request to remove the item and that NO ONE ELSE
HAD EVER DONE IT THAT WAY. She always just got a credit. So I think this option
needs to be moved to the front page so to speak. It is not an uncommon situation.
I think if easier to find, sellers would be more inclined to use this feature.
I have used it a few timrs recently and everything went smoothly. I've only
had the one issue with it.

I just wanted to write in a Post that Chickaroo told us long ago her motto was
"Buy first, think later!"

Unfortunately, Forum doesn't help to easily link to a member (if someone
doesn't know this specific one ha ha).

Apart using an ugly link like:
https://www.bricklink.com/feedback.asp?u=Chickaroo

Suggestion is to add a member MACRO in Forum, like the ones we have for
Catalog Items, but for Members:

[ u = Chickaroo ]

It would include a small version of the ID Pic and the user name, something like:

We could have a dropdown list choice: "Member", "Shop", "Posts"
which would produce:

[ u = Chickaroo ]

[ x = Adams family ] (or the shopID [ x = 17662 ])

[ p = Chickaroo]

Then, depending the choice, clicking on it:

[ u = Chickaroo ] opens member Profile page
[ x = Adams family ] opens Shop page
[ p = Chickaroo] opens the page where you could see her posts in Forum

Please heavily approve, and of course, that's very necessary and urgent to
implement.
Thank you BrickLink!

To The Bricklink Admins:

Thank you for all that you do! You work mostly behind the scenes making Bricklink
the great site that it is, and for that I thank you. You are much appreciated.

I can list and sell, and I don't have to worry about the site crashing or
things going sideways. I know there was a glitch at the end of 2023, but that
is the only real problem there has been since I joined in 2012.

So, a Big Thank You to you and the BL team who make this site such a wonderful
place to buy and sell.

Have a great 2024!

Hello ,
I have been a lego player since the 1980s.
I had an idea regarding safety issues.
The idea is if you can add the 2-step-autothenticator to the site , in a "security"
menu

https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/1066447?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid

to access any site after the login and password , the user has to enter the numbers
that generates the android autothentication on the smarthphone.

I think you have already thought about it !
Best Regards and Happy Holidays

here i want to make a new advice for the bricklink studio function

1. Auto fill, like the pool or the ocean, we can mark a area and select the part
we want, then full fill it by APP.

2.mix part set, we can select some different parts and it can mixed by APP.

hope can have your reply thanks

I get regular questions from customers where the tracking information is. I did
supply it on the order, but clearly it's not visible enough.

Secondly, the "tracking no" is not sufficient. Better would be "tracking
link", so the seller can put the whole link in it, after which BrickLink
could show it on the order list and detail, for example with a clickable "tracking
icon", like a globe or small delivery truck.

When I click on an Order ID, I don't understand why the only button option
towards the bottom of the page is to add all the items to My Wanted List, and
not the My Collection page instead, which would make much more sense. Like, I
ordered my items because I wanted them to begin with. Why would I choose to put
them back in a Wanted section afterward? It doesn't make any sense to me.

Why aren't we allowed to use descriptions such as "like new" on used
items? I've been wondering about this rule for quite a while and it doesn't
make sense to me. I understand why we can't describe used items as new but
"like new" does not mean the same thing as new. "Like new" means
almost to me.

It is my suggestion that we do away with the rule that descriptions such as "like
new" are not allowed.

May I suggest adding millimetres to the pulldown on https://www.bricklink.com/catalogOptions.asp?viewFrom=P

It's not a big deal but I tend to think of bricks as 8mm wide rather than
0.8cm. It makes more sense to me for the scale of parts we're working with.

Hi all

I find it useful to have the weight in the order, so I can immediately see the
weight of the order and estimate shipping.

Bricklink has weight of bricks, and even if it is a bit off in total, say in
my case a few grammes, it will still give me a good estimate.

I know that some bricks might be missing the weight, but then it could be listed
too how many percent have weight listed. If it is 100, then I know I can trust
it

I really like the new My Collection page! I would love a little notes section

Suggestion for enabling a feature to add pieces that have been found as part
of a wanted list to your store inventory for efficient listing, i have a bunch
of partially sorted sets in wanted lists and i think being able to add those
parts to store inventory with the ability to add pricing and such would be extremely
helpful.

Hi everyone,

Here is an idea as I received all of my neutral feedbacks because the buyer never
contacted me prior to leaving feedback for a small mistake I made in an order
and never gave me the chance to make it right.

Not sure how that would be done, but here is my idea : before a buyer can leave
a neutral or negative feedback, there must be a mandatory step of contacting
the buyer to discuss the issue first. I'm sure lots of sellers are in the
same position as me and lots of buyers think the feedback system is just as an
amazon or facebook system. You buy, you're happy / not happy and you leave
feedback. Especially for the new buyers.

What do you think ?

Thanks for reading.

As a buyer, it's very annoying having to fill baskets at several stores where
I of course keep track of prices, only to find out later the seller(s) charge
PayPal fees, packing fees, processing fees, ... It makes comparing between shops
as good as impossible.
At least the min. buy setting is announced up front (and I usually filter out
stores with a high min. buy). But these extra "fees" for whatever reason,
is done at the very last step of checkout or even only mentioned in the T&C.

I'm not advocating sellers should not be able to cover their costs, including
even packing costs, but these should be included in their "item prices"
on the one hand (PayPal % fee) and "shipping and handling costs" on the
other hand (packaging material, order processing fees, ...).
Sellers that really don't want to adjust prices or pay they PayPal fee, can
remove PayPal as valid payment method.

When instant checkout would be required for all stores (and I don't see why
not, seems like a logical evolution), the full cost of an order including all
fees the seller feels he should charge, is transparant to the buyer while he
is filling baskets. It's also more fair to sellers, as they are compared
with each other on equal grounds.

This is a suggestion to give sellers a mechanism to do a hard shutdown of their
store, at any time day or night, week or weekend, if they have lost control for
unexpected reasons.

The emergency break would be a one time, BL generated sequence, that is very
long and random (similar to a MD5 hash). Once generated and verified, the seller
would store it offline in case ever needed if an emergency should arise.

Usage of the emergency brake feature would not require the seller to have password
access, because the password access could have been compromised. The length of
the emergency token would allow BL to relate to a specific store without any
chance of ambiguity.

Once the emergency brake has been pulled, the seller's store is locked, password
is no longer active, and seller must converse / authenticate with the help desk
to begin the process of resetting the password and remediating the cause. It
is a mechanism to prevent further damage (to the store, to unsuspecting buyers,
and to BL's reputation).

There is a web based shipping software called SendCloud.

There u can easily work on orders, create shipping labels for many known courier's
like DHL, DPD, UPS, FEDEX, GERMAN POST etc... .

U can use your own shipping prices, if u are customer from one or more of these
courier services, or u use the conditions of Sendcloud.

The prices of Sendcloud are very fair.

If u want to use your own conditions u must be business customer from DHL or
the others, and upgrade your Sendcloud Tarif.

For all who don't have these, I can use Sendcloud conditions with free trial,
up to 50 orders a month.

The marketplace BrickOwl has an API Connection to sendcloud, it will be grate
if BrickLink will add these, too.

It will make the shipping process much more efficient for all sellers, small
sellers and huge shops.

U can create shipping labels with a few clicks.

Also u can create customs clearance papers like CN23 and CN 22 very easily.

This is a suggestion to help prevent some of the recent problems with new seller
accounts.

In the beginning (2000 until a few years back) anyone could request selling privs,
and could sell here. The door was wide open, and it was occasionally abused.
The current mode is to receive at least one positive FB. Based on another thread
here, it is possible that is also being abused.

The suggestion is to request fees in advance for the first 45-60 day selling
period. The range of dates is such that at least one full month will be contained.
At the end of that time-frame, any fees not used would be refunded as a partial
refund. The amount charged would be nominal ($5 for example) but would also act
as a speed brake because it would limit how much can be sold during the time
frame (roughly $150). Someone who expects and intends to sell more, could pay
a larger initial fee, but would also face more verification prior to approval.

The advantage of doing this is that it would require someone to prove they exist
as a real person, via the payment. It may also expose someone trying to use a
stolen credit card.

The disadvantage is that it may limit participation from countries where electronic
payment is not possible.

I'm not 100% thrilled with this suggestion, but I think something needs to
be done to enhance validation and to limit the velocity of abuse.

I see lots of people trying to sell there entire store. Logically we might all
get to this point at some point. I haven’t gone to the process of creating a
massive lot but frankly that seems like a lot of work. Realistically these sales
are taking place outside of Bricklink. Probably on another social network, perhaps
local. Frankly, without Bricklink fees. Fees and facilitation goes together.

I am using BL API to maintain my own small Collection Inventory sheet.

BL API to get item is GET /items/{type}/{no}
(docs: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/api.page?page=get-item) and apparently there
is no other way

I have a Lego set 6435196 , for which BL API returns an error, since this it
is listed in BL DB as 5007489
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=5007489-1

It can be searched up on BL manually via 6435196, since it is its alternate number.
But unless I am mistaken, this can't be done per API.

If this is the case, API should be made aware of alternate numbers:
* If look up using main number returned nothing, run another search via alternate
numbers.
Depending on your internal architecture and % of items with alternate numbers
it might be an easy job to implement or would require an additional index/cache.

P.S. It would also be nice to add instructions on where to send API-related feedback
to this page [ https://www.bricklink.com/v3/api.page?page=feedback-suggestions-requests
], since there is no API-dedicated forum.

Thanks.

Like weight and dimensions, this would not have to be a required data point,
but one that would have a ? until entered. I often wish for this information
and I see it asked on the forum. I was just looking at an open box, sealed bags
set on eBay that I might like to buy, but the seller says how many bags there
are and notes that they don't know if that is all of them. Well, I don't
know either.

I have a lot of suggestions but was always to lazy to post them.
I guess I can make a new post for every category so people and admins/moderators
can discuss it?

Wanted lists / orders:

1. - When applying orders to your wanted list it would be nice to add multiple
orders at once. AND it would be nice if Bricklink would remember which orders
you allready applied to a wanted list / to the wanted list you are working in.

2. - In your wanted list it would be nice if you can see how many you still
need.
(ATM You can see how many you want and how many you have, but not how many you
still need).

3. - It would be nice if you can sort in your wanted list by how many you still
need and/or hide (fade?) all items you allready bought enough from.

4. - Also it would be nice to actually connect orders to wanted lists. So if
you are missing anything you can see which orders you are still waiting for OR
which orders didn't send you enough parts.

5. - I would like to be able to shop in my own store. It makes no sense that
I am buying parts from other sellers while I have them myself. Very frustrating.
I would even be willing to pay a small fee.

6. - It would be nice if you can play more with the automatic buying options
from the wanted list. I always have the preference t buy in my own country first.
Then bricklink says how much % you are buying (85% of your wanted list you can
buy IN your country).
But it doesn't show which parts you CANT buy in your country. So if you have
long wanted lists (dozens or hundreds of parts) it can be a lot of work to figure
out which parts you still need to buy.

Ok,
This was my first post.
I never post anything on this forum, so really curious if I did everything correctly
and how this proceeds.

Greetings,
Bram - Brams Bouwstenen (Netherlands, Breda)

What happened to 'Featured Items'? It was a magnet that kept me coming
frequently back to the Bricklink site. In the past it was updated frequently
and featured popular items.

My suggestion is that Featured Items

o Gets updated nearly daily
o Presents new items, items suddenly increasing in popularity, & top sellers
o Avoids a screenful of similar or closely related items

Hello,

I have used bricklink for a bit. I use the buy your wanted list feature a lot.
It would be extremely nice of instead of having to click the "select"
button for every single store over and over again and instead somewhere show
how much the total cost is + shipping to your area. There would still be the
select button but that would mainly be used to see what items on your wanted
list that the store has. I just think this would save me a lot of time and looking
for specific items on your wanted list would not be so repetitive. I understand
if it takes longer for the list of stores to load but I would rather wait than
have to keep clicking the "select" button over and over again.

Thanks.

I thought it would be cool/helpful to implement a feature that allows you to
type #(set number) into the part search bar or color search bar to see what parts
and colors were used in said set. This would be helpful for making modifications
to sets so you can rebuild the set in the program much quicker, and to help find
what parts molds were used for specific techniques in sets, due to how many molds/variations
there are. It can also help with trying to assemble minifigures and find decorated
parts so you don't have to scroll through hundreds of parts to find what
you need because you don't know what to search for to find said part. it
would be (from what I can tell, I am by no means an expert) simple to implement,
due to how studio already pulls a lot of data from it's catalogs. it could
even be applied to the site itself, so that shopping for parts could be much
easier.

Hello Bricklinkers!

I am wondering if I am missing a spot to put in "My Collection" section
of instruction booklets.
I love that you can put in all your sets on a list to look them over.

If it is not already a section that I can't find, I think a spot for instruction
books in the "My Collection" section would be awesome.
As a collector/buyer who can't always remember what they have this would
help to not buy more then I need.

When I’m ready to print postage I go to my notes section and copy and paste in
the tracking number. Before I do I verify the address is the same so I have
to take an extra step forward to click on the order and then backward to go back
to the note. So I would love it if the address of the buyer was also listed in
the note section when you click on the icon.
Hope that makes sense!

Sometimes - it's not always clear when - replying to an email from a BrickLink
user, has the email address blservice@bricklink.com in the addressee's field.
Sometimes the actual user's email address.

It's confusing, but until a thorough solution for messaging is implemented,
I would like the "blservice" is changed to "noreply" so it's
at lease a more visual give-away the email will not reach the user.

I would like to propose the option that a buyer can register his/her VAT number
(EU) in order to get invoices without VAT. Easier to deal with the paperwork
and saves time for the seller to send an invoice without VAT.

After searching, the results can be sorted by 'Best Match', 'Price',
'Quantity', 'Sellers', and 'Item Name'.

I'd like to add 'Release Date' to that list.

The goal of many searches is to find something newer or something older, or to
find something we remember from a particular range of dates. Sorting by Release
Date would help navigate a large set of results.

I live near a country border and have an address in both countries where I can
collect parcels. Depending on the shipping costs, it's more economical to
ship to country A or country B.

The only way to have an order shipped to address A or address B, is to update
my address details on my profile. This used to work fine, albeit it's a bit
cumbersome.
Since some time (recently?), when I change my address on BrickLink, I must go
through the seller verification process again, even though I changed it only
from a buyer point of view. I wasn't meaning the change my official store
address.

So my suggestion/request is one of the following:

Option 1 - Allow any buyer to enter any shipping destination in the checkout
process, just like 99% of webshops allow to do so.

Option 2 - Each account should have a buyer and a seller address. Only when changing
the seller address, a new store verification is required.

Thanks for considering any of these options.

Piece x164pb19 included in the sandspeeder set is the helmet for rebel pilot
red 4 John D. Branon. I feel like this should be denoted to help collectors who
want to have a full red squadron. :]

I was wanting to do a WiC style collab group for my new theme ,Cyberspace, here
on Bricklink, without having to start that group on another platform such as
Flickr or Instagram. Maybe there could be a new feature on the gallery where
you could make groups with other designers to work on a common theme or interest.
The groups could have their own coordinators or mini-admin to accept designers
into the group and make sure all builds are of good quality. It would really
make the gallery more interesting, and could go on to be the roots of new community.

Hello,

I'm not sure whether the product managers within Bricklink review these forums
for suggestions, or if I'm just speaking into to void, but a simple change
I would appreciate is the ability to change the default payment method.

In my country, and I believe this is true in other countries as well, PayPal
is about 1% more expensive than Stripe.

Giving sellers control over the default payment method would allow buyers with
a preference to continue using the payment method they prefer, while also allowing
sellers to use the lowest cost payment processor for buyers without a preference.

I believe the aggregate savings across the marketplace could be quite substantial.

Thanks

I use bricklink to part out sets I buy and those found in bulk purchases. It
would be great if I could organize wanted lists together instead of having one
giant list.

Having sets bought together grouped together would be great and would make purchasing
the missing pieces from all of them at once easier. There could even be an easy
buy option for each entire folder so you can purchase all your missing pieces
from the multiple wanted lists in that folder.

I love the ease I can find what each of my sets is missing but as I have dozens
of active sets I'm restoring the entire wanted list is a cluttered mess.

Let me organize them and sort them into folders, please.
