Hello,
I have ordered 2 sets of a special AFOL edition from BrickLinkCorp. Unfortunately
only one has arrived, and I tried to contact BrickLink on all channels here,
then filed a non-shipping alert, but since received no response. Now I could
cancel, but unsure whether I'd receive a payback, and also much rather resolve
the issue and get the 2nd box, even so delayed.
Can anyone assist on how to chase BrickLinkCorp?
Thanks,
David

Hi

I recently sold a Davey Jones figure, the buyer has received the figure and believes
it to be fake. I have no reason to disbelieve the buyer, he has plenty of feedback
and has been extremely reasonable throughout but I checked where I got the figure
from when I purchased it some time ago and don’t believe that seller is selling
fakes.

I was wondering whether anyone on the forum might have the same figure to hand
and therefore might be willing to compare the image I have with the one the buyer
has sent. If so I would be very grateful if you could get in touch with me.

I would really appreciate your help with this!

Thank you,
Gary

  Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue.
Before I sent each invoice I usually change some stuff from the template to reflect
savings and promotions in a discount summary section. However, as of today, I
can no longer edit the invoice for each individual order, when I click on the
icon it takes me to a page that just shows what's going to be sent, with
no way to edit it.

I'm not sure if this was a change bricklink rolled out last night or what,
but it seriously is annoying. Anyone else having the same happen?

Do you mean where you edit in the "Comments from Seller" area? I was able to
no problem today. Even for one that's been sent, if I click on the invoice
icon, I still get the editable window.

Nevermind, figured it out. I managed to screw up some of the macro tags.

Exactly, I no longer have that window for some reason. It's weird, will have
to contact the helpdesk about that.

Post landing delivery = cost 33p
Total for VAT = £247.81 x 20% = £49.56
Admin fee (2.5% of VAT or) min charge = £12.
Total to pay £61.56 (42% of the original order & shipping price)

The additional freight VAT takes the shine off purchasing direct from BL Store

It seems this is a Fedex problem. Don't let it put you off using US BL stores,
just be sure they post with USPS, then it comes into Royal Mail, who handle it
fairly using the formula of VAT+basic handling charge (about £8?).

Good luck trying to sort fedex out, hopefully the store will stop using fedex
and start using sensible services

I recently had an issue with FedEx massively over-declaring import duty for something
not lego related.
To solve it, i contacted HMRC and asked them what the correct commodity code
should be for the specific product, and what duty should be charged for that
code.
For me, FedEx were trying to charge close to 50% when the commodity for the product
was 0.5%...
It still took about 2 weeks of chasing them and many phone calls for them to
finally escalate the issue to the right department, but I eventually got them
to charge the correct amount.
Sometimes it feels like FedEx have become a complete scam company.

Contact HMRC for advice, open a case with FedEx and keep telling them what they
are doing wrong, eventually they should fix it. Good luck!

Hi,

I've both converted to the old PF without any problem. Just sell the new
part you don't use in order to fund the change.

If that order was cancelled through BL with the excuse it was bought by an underage
child, then it will probably remain banned.

That seems high, if the postage price was declared as $35.

I guess they'll unban anyone who asks. Bricklink support is so slow, by the
time they finally read messages, nobody will be underage anymore

Annoying, I always wonder why others are having weird customers like this and
I never do. Guess I'm luckly

I think there are two reasons:
1) you are professional, correct and good seller;
2) If you spend 24 hours in hospital, you realize many people die there but if
you spend 24 hours in a park, nobody die there (generally speaking)! Where do
we hear about scams or problem orders? Answer is "Forum". How many sellers are
there on BL? how many orders are submitted in a year? Well, many many many but
a good percentage of the problems/scams are reported hear however the percentage
"the total number of scams or problems with a bad buyer or seller"/ "the total
number of orders"
is very small. (at least I hope!)

Cheers

I am not sure but your feedback says something about your mom cancelling your

I have been running a Powered Up train at several shows this year and other than
the fact I need to buy and add a second motor due to the weight of the train)
its working out great.

Brian,

I just looked at the 60197 train instructions (web friendly) and looked at the
battery box placement. The dimensions of the PU and PF battery box are identical.
The main difference being the port location (top for PF, side for PU). You would
need to include the placement of the PF Receiver as well, but it looks like there
may be room right in front of the battery box. The PF Receiver has a foot print
of 4x4 studs and there is 4 stud width gap between the sides of the train for
it, so seems easily doable. You would just need to leave a gap in the roof for
the Receiver to receive signal from the PF controller, but a minor issue that
can be done to conceal it with additional slope bricks. The train motor is identical
to PU and PF otherwise, as far as dimensions and connections.

Here is the instructions link to the 60197 train for quick web viewing.

I have not looked at the 60198 train, but here are the web friendly instructions

Thanks Miro!

I didnt realize that the PU Hub did not require the IR reciever to run. I guess
it makes better sense now. But 49.99 is still a hefty price to pay for two parts
in one. I wouldn't have a problem if the PU Hub was rechargeable. Oh well..maybe
in time the price may come down. I'm stocking up on battery boxes, IR receivers
and motors now.

Brian

From what I hear, the Lego train community is not too keen on the PU system.
The PU uses bluetooth, which is nice when it comes to operating it outside, compared
to IR (infrared), but the price and incompatibility is a major deterrent. The
remote is very limited in operations, and the problem with the app is that you
can only operate 1 HUB at a time, so you would require multiple devices for multiple
trains. So Lego is charging more for a device that needs to be controlled by
a device (smartphone) that they do not provide.

I am not going to switch anytime soon. It's too bad that the connections
are not compatible. There sure would be a demand if someone came up with a connector
that would allow both PF and PU systems to work together.

Miro

Yeah, I'm not happy with the change either. I know its directed towards kids.
It will become challenging for the younglings to incorporate multiple trains.
We AFOL's will be the ones with disposable income who buy the product more
so. I'm very disappointed that they discontinued the PF rechargeable battery
box so quickly. The charger may work on the new PU system, but I'm stuck
with a 30.00 dollar charger that works for one function. I'm not complaining
lol, but I was hoping to get more rechargeable battery boxes. The secondary market
.ie BrickLink sells them, but at a steeper price now that demand will certainly
fly go up.

Brian

I prefer the regular battery PF battery box and I use my own rechargeable batteries.
Even rechargeable batteries wear out over time, so this keeps the PF battery
box everlasting and I just replace the rechargeable batteries when they don't
charge long enough, but I am yet to get rid of any batteries. I do use a battery
charger that meters each battery independently and shuts off charging when they
get full to keep them from overheating. I have run my motorized models non-stop
for 8 hours at a Lego convention with changing out the batteries only once in
the middle of the day. The model that I run is the Star Wars Cinema where the
whole display rotates by a single XL PF motor. It's a lot of weight to rotate,
as a lot of torque is required due to the weight. Here is the video of it.

Annoying, I always wonder why others are having weird customers like this and
I never do. Guess I'm luckly

You could count if the number you have left of those cheap ones matches your
inventory. If so, that pretty much proves that you didn't send two of those
to the customer. I'd write a friendly message, just saying that you've
checked and that your inventory quantities show that you did send the right part
and that the wrong part is still in your possession so it couldn't possibly
have reached the buyer. Finish by saying that probably they've made a mistake
and mixed up the parts with their own parts or perhaps another order, and that
if they have any further questions or concerns they should let you know.

If they do insist on a refund, you'll have to give it I guess. But after
this message it is clear to the buyer that if they do push down that lane, you
are fully aware that they are scamming you, which is pretty awkward, so they
might change their mind.

Thanks I have followed your advice.

judging by what you have left in stock where they were stored. Correct?

I Need some guidance, I sold 2 items (2736, black) that is stored with axles,
I had only 2 and they were kept with 22 light bluish gray because I only had
2.
The buyer claims I sent 2- (6628, black) that I are stored with pins not axles, the buyer did ask if I had more (I don't) and now is asking "wants to return them", there is a difference in price.
To please the buyer I have gone through all new bins I purchased lately and nothing
I always check the item # and the numbers are not even close.
I believe he is trying to scam me

Easy to fix as in Drill Press? Yikes! lol (it would work however)

Ha! Don't buy new if you can DIY!

You can also nick away the 1x2 plate's bottom tube, carefully place the 1x5
brick into position, then drive a nail into it!

Where are you trying to upload them? They may be too large.

Thanks Randy. I’m using the upload image link at the bottom of the message

Yeah, the raw images from your phone are much too big for uploading to the forum.
You would have to definitely resize them. I don't know if there is a way
to resize them right away on the phone since I always send photos from my phone
to my computer before adjusting them for BrickLink.

Cheers,
Randy

I’ll give that a try after work. Thanks Randy I’ll let you know how I make out.
Cheers!

The message limit is only for new members. The limit resets every day at 2:00am
BrickLink time (which is Eastern Daylight Time, currently) and is only in place
for the first 30 days of your membership. After that, you will have no restrictions.

For new users there's a daily limit to prevent spamming.
Inquiries usually don't turn into orders.
Most orders are placed without any upfront messaging.
For now you can continue the conversation by regular email.

Sadly, there's nothing you can do about it at the moment, nor do I know when
it resets. At some point it goes away after you establish yourself as a BL member.

The reality is that a very small number of problem members necessitate creating
policies that impact the majority.

A seller that lists items as you describe will be consistent. I would suggest
that whenever you find a store that does this you dislike their store. Then
when you look to fill a want list you can exclude the stores you dislike. It
will take some time but you should get better and better results, the longer
you stick with it.

Dislike a store by clicking on the "fans" button at the top of the screen. you
will then have the option to "favorite" or "dislike." Be sure to put notes
as to why. If nothing else you can remember why you dislike them. I don't
think they see the note, but even if they did it would just help them be a better
seller to understand why you don't want to see their items.

When I am parting out a figure and I am missing something I usually part out
the figure (sometimes they can be more valuable parted out too). I will only
leave it as a figure if I am missing one of the accessories or a baseplate.
There will be times where an accessory comes in the set but is not listed with
the minifigure. Rather than listing it separately, I will sometimes just add
it to the figure.

After the big hack several years ago, there were severe restrictions put in place

I tried to solve the problem by designating only "new" items for my wish list.
But then the tool selected a store for a minifigure that says "Head only. Brand

So my question... is there any way/setting to search for whole items belonging

Hi

In various forms this has been discussed quite a few times recently.

There is no easy way, as sellers (not all !) describe what they have, how they
want.
There is no logic to some sellers - there should be strict rules in force, but
if a seller wants to call a head a complete minifig he can and will - causing
problems for buyers and skewing the prices to boot.

tpr

Shucks. Thank you for the reply. I'm rather new and haven't figured
out all the settings and things yet.

Did you get part 2453b brick 1 x 1 x 5 with solid stud? This set was produced
before that part variant was introduced. It will only work with the older version
2453a brick 1 x 1 x 5 with blocked open or hollow stud.

I have heard that you can heat up the metal part with a lighter and pull it out
easily. The rest of the figure is glued I think, like torso and legs not the
moving parts. I haven't done it myself though.

Yes a buyer (in the EU) has the right to return the order, no reason has to be
given.
Only applies if the seller is a company not a normal consumer. In BL case that
can be a bit of trouble.

Nope. It's a very hard to kill misunderstanding that I will keep on correcting.
It applies to all consumers. When is someone a consumer? When they buy
in a shop. What is a shop? Something that's called a shop, something that
has a stock, something that has terms.. A Bricklink store. Besides, the seller
here literally writes "my webshop" in their terms. The legal form of the store
is not relevant and it's in no way a trade between two private individuals
of for example some second hand item. Customer rights apply. That also means
for example that any shop that writes they're not responsible for lost packages
are going to have to change that statement.

As I said, on Bricklink it can be a bit fuzzy. If a consumer buys from another
consumer, the stated laws don't apply, and yes a consumer can have a shop
on Bricklink, they are not automatically turned into a commercial seller.

Buyer should allways contact the seller before returning an order, that's
in the same law that states the above. A consumer has many rights, but also a
few obligations. And in this case it looks like there would have been a cheaper
solution to the whole matter, if only there would have been communication from
the buyer to the seller.

I normally wait for these 3 days and then send a friendly reminder. This is normally
sufficient to catch the sellers attention. If you do not get an invoice after
7 days, I would send a second reminder mentioning that if you do not get the
invoice within 24 hours you will initiate the NRS case. This almost certainly
will result in some sort of action.

Yeah, that's why it's a good idea to leave at least neutral feedback,
not necessarily to criticise them but just to flag that this occurred, for the
record. Unfortunately Bricklink doesn't keep stats on these events in a user's
profile the way BrickOwl does, so it can only be recorded in feedback.

It depends on your PayPal payment method. If you selected PayPal on-site then
you should see a blue pay button on your orders page or on the order detail page
of the order. If you select PayPal, then it is up to the seller to provide you
with either an email address or a link to pay. The invoice at the very least
should include an email address and a total. You can use this information within
PayPal to send the payment.

You send them the refund they ask for. You haven't specified in your terms
that you do not cover the cost of sending items back, which by law entails you're
the one who has to pay for it. You may not like it, but it's their right.
That's just the way it is.
Anyway, minfigs only increase in value so I am sure you'll get that money
back again later on. It's a refund-and-move-on situation

Hello

I have a newly opened store (first day), and i can't access off-site payments
options on the 'payment' page.

I only have Paypal onsite and Stripe options available.

I want to add 'personal check' for domestic sales, and 'bank transfer
/ IBAN' for international sales, and also 'paypal offsite' for all.

Can anyone help ?

Thank you.

Chantal.

PS : the 'add an offsite payment method' button does not appear

Check your email spam folder for an order confirmation and invoice from @bricklink.com
and add @bricklink.com to the safe domains.

Just wait a few days.

Invoice and Payment:
After you submit an order, the seller should send you an invoice within three
days via e-mail including your grand total and information on where to send payment.
If you haven’t gotten an invoice within this time, you should contact the seller.
If an invoice has been sent, the Order Total on your Orders Placed page will
be in bold text.

it being added.

This morning the seller still didn't send me anything. I double checked his
terms and he didn't say anything about packing and shipping times. Almost
all of his feedbacks are positive, just 1 negative.

Is there anything I can do? Can I cancel the order and buy from another store?

I would also like to apologie for my bad English.

-Marco

Hello,

here on Bricklink the seller has to respond in 3 days, so nearly no store explains,
how fast he will answer with an invoice.

So I suggest to wait a bit or if You are in a haste, contact the seller parallel
via the contact function in the order.

I'll start this post by saying that I'm new on bricklink and to buying
stuff online.
The only things I usually buy online are videogames' activation keys and
in game products.
I also have to say that me and the seller live in 2 different time zones. There's
a 1 hour difference between them.

On July 30th I placed an order from a small store, that received 2-3 positive
feedbacks each month for the past 3-4 years.
The order was just a small set that can't be found in stores anymore.
After 24 hours, the seller didn't send me an invoice, I tought that he simply
forgot to check his email or didn't get a notification.
I added another small set I wanted to the order thinking he could've noticed
it being added.

Yes, if it’s a custom pic, it has to be reviewed.

Thx

I bought a 9797 on eBay and for once it came with a power adapter. But it isn't
one of the ones noted in our catalog listing. The Item# is 4551022 and I found
it on this page. Can someone give me the gist? Do I have a Dutch AC Adapter?
It is a 2 prong.

Here are all the plugs and sockets:
https://www.worldstandards.eu/electricity/plugs-and-sockets/

With only two prongs, if it’s not the US flat type A, and if it’s not round (types
E and F), it’s a type C, which’s standard across most of Europe:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e4/World_map_of_electrical_mains_power_plug_types_used.svg/1920px-World_map_of_electrical_mains_power_plug_types_used.svg.png

My question was more about where it was released so the catalog note could be
updated. It is type C. I didn't know the name. Does the page say sets
in the Netherlands got this item number?

Ah, sorry. As you see the plug’s type doesn’t help and the EAN doesn’t help
either: 57… = Denmark

I have a number of wishlists but was using one to purchase. Once I got to the
store I was spending several hours going through the sellers inventory category
by category to see if there was anything else on my other wishlists I wanted
to buy. It struck me that once I could go to a store and see right off what items
they had that were on my wishlists. Is this possible, or am I misremembering?
If it is possible, how do I do it? Thanks anyone who can help.

Go to shop, select “wanted list”.
Then click on “more filters” (picture shows “less filters”)
Then click on “hide items if have qty is want qty

This will show only the parts that store has that are in your wanted list.
You can also deselect specific wanted list(s) to narrow the search.

Hope that helps.

Sweet, that does help. Thanks a lot!

Yep, simple: They have full studs. Do these have the LEGO logo? No, then not
LEGO.

Received an offer to buy them, at the moment that picture is all that I have.
Thank you for your input
