The AFOL sets are not real LEGO sets, right?

Have they been catalogued incorrectly or are the filters not working correctly?

Right now for the Hero Factory theme, there are 3 categories (Heroes,Villains,Vehicles).

I was wondering if each release wave theme could get its own sub-category (Breakout,
Brain Attack, Invasion from below, ETC...)

I can use the catalog add/change feature, just wondering if it should be done
first.

I got two of these in a set that will need its inventory updated. But I am trying
to figure it out. The part is inventoried but it doesn’t really look playable.
I gave it a soft tug to see if it was just clutched and I don’t think it is.

It’s as Michael (Hurt) posted, with missing print. I don’t think it’s “worn off”
too clean. It's not uncommon with earlier Lego modified heads produced in
China. It seems their QC was not on par with other production sites of TLG

I've noticed their ink often doesn't take to their bendy heads. 9 years
of bustling between bricks and it's gone completely. If you look at the listings,
you'll see it's a common issue.

Whoa! That house elf appears to have suffered a stroke.

Hi, I just got a new opened 4561 with sealed polybags and I'd like to know
if it's complete. I have 8 polybags with pictures and one without containing
1x16 bricks.

TIA

*
col08-14 (Inv) Thespian / Actor, Series 8 (Complete Set with Stand and Accessories)
2 Parts, 1 Minifigure, 2012
Sets: Collectible Minifigures: Series 8 Minifigures

Is there a reason this keeps getting changed?

I have no idea. last name change was done by Robert
(Nov 7, 2018 by StormChaser) and this change isn't in the log
So ask him ...if you have contact with him.
I really have no knowledge about it.

This set was originally listed as Actor, it was then changed to Thespian. I asked
for the Actor name to be reinstated, which it was, and then it was removed again.

for other to see it history
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReqList.asp?itemID=111573

The minifigure version has both names:

Minifig No: col126 Name: Thespian / Actor, Series 8 (Minifigure Only without Stand and Accessories)
*
col126 (Inv) Thespian / Actor, Series 8 (Minifigure Only without Stand and Accessories)
Minifigures: Collectible Minifigures: Series 8 Minifigures

Why can the set not keep both names?

Have no idea.

And on their webpages, LEGO refer to it as ACTOR. If it can have only one name,
then surely it should be the LEGO one.

https://www.lego.com/en-gb/themes/minifigures/products/lego-minifigures-8833

I'd suggest it again, but seeing as I have done it once and it got done and
then changed back again later I don't see the point of going round in circles.

It should really drop the "The" as well - we don't have The Butcher, The
Plumber, etc.

So I've change it to be the same as minifig entry, but you know in the future
a new admin can change it back again

Thanks, hopefully the dual name will stay. I know people use both.

Thanks also for correcting the spelling of ANTON'S tile.

What pictures show that?

Bricklink own parts list has the wrong part number. They have the left door not
the right door

I see the right door in the inventory there.

Hi,
I am unable to find in this catalogue the item I just bought in Billund:
5 cookie cuttters, LEGO 853890, item 6255877, EAN 673419306935.

Am I searching wrong or is this not yet listed here?

Thanks
Florian

Thanks,

I believe you can only submit the printed part, as that is what exists.

See

Marek,
Each of these trains would then need 12 counterparts for each door.

not correct....

I have piece 6082 and 6083 both with stickers applied. However to list them
in my store there is no number assigned to these pieces with stickers.

How do I go about asking for these two items to be added to your catalog?

In LDD, look at the Part # / Design ID in the status line. Use that as a search
term. To catch patterned or composite parts, add a star.

“MINI ALIEN PET” = 95204, a search for “95204*” gives:

Part No: 95204pb01 Name: Alien Clinger with White Eye with Black Pupil Pattern
*
95204pb01 Alien Clinger with White Eye with Black Pupil Pattern
Parts: Animal, Land

“SHELL - MORNING STAR” = 54177, a search for “54177” gives:

Part No: 54177 Name: Minifigure, Weapon Spiked Ball Half with 2 Axle Holes
*
54177 Minifigure, Weapon Spiked Ball Half with 2 Axle Holes
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon

If you want both, add them in a Wanted List and then you can search stores (
https://www.bricklink.com/v2/wanted/buy.page ).

It depends if pending item is problematic or not.

  And, can I perhaps expect
a message or some other notification that "your item has been added", or similar?

No messages are sended when item is approved. Correspondence with submitter is
only with problematic items (somtimes, firstly a note is added to pending item
in such cases - in item name like in this one for example [p=15068pb169x]) or
when they are rejected.

That is why submitters should check they "My activity page"
https://www.bricklink.com/myActivity.asp
or this page, section "My Additions Pending Approval:"
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogAdd.asp

Pending items can bee seen also here
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogPend.asp

You should check also this page where new additions to the catalog are showed
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogListOld.asp?

Check this help page also
https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2482
There are also answers to questions about pending items.

I've requested two changes to listings in the past, both were approved really
quickly but I didn't get a message. If you click on "My Activity" from your
profile, you can see the requests you've made and how many have been approved.

The year on the part is the copyright year. The year in the Bricklink catalog
is when it was first included in a set. This is often a year later because of
the time it takes to design and then produce parts.

No

Also there maybe should be added a notice to those sets in regards of being glued

Thankfully, since there are so many headlight bricks with varying levels of partial

You think the horizontal slot is a defect?

I believe, until Lego says otherwise, the slot is meant to be like this.

Out of all my 4070 at least 80% have a slot, no matter what year or color, no
matter what set it came from.
Too much for a defect.

It is a slot that is always the same form, sharply formed, very straight and
small.

I think it could be made for pressure relieve.

Yes, if you look from the inside, the hole is always moulded there. Sometimes
there is a thin skin over it. I think all my newer parts have the slot, with
older ones being hit and miss.

I believe the note on the part 'This part is occasionally found with a small
horizontal slot in the front near the base. This is believed to be an unintentional
feature.' is incorrect. Should be the other way round 'occasionally
found WITHOUT a small...'

Exactly my idea!
Maybe we should ask for a catalog change.

I've changed the catalog note for both entries. See if that sounds better
to you.

Many years ago I managed to speak directly with a Lego engineer. I reported it
to Admin and for some time the description of the conversation was shown in the
Additional Notes for the part.
The slot is NOT intentional but is more a problem with the design of the part.
Whether a slot forms or not is down, mainly, to the age of the mold.
A redesign is not possible and it is considered to be such a minor flaw that
keeping things as they are is better than scrapping the part altogether.

Thankfully, since there are so many headlight bricks with varying levels of partial
holes. It was definitely a manufacturing defect.

Now if we could just get rid of the ridiculous entries for "smooth slopes."

This is something we are going to look into. From what I have seen over the years,
there is no real "smooth slopes" for some of those parts (or any of them). What
they are are parts that come from molds where the sand-blasted texture has been
worn down over time making the slopes look more smooth than others that were
produced when the molds were new. One thing is for certain - none of them are
smooth like real smooth-molded slopes such as

Part No: 11477 Name: Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x 2/3
*
11477 Slope, Curved 2 x 1 x 2/3
Parts: Slope, Curved

Cheers,
Randy

Don't forget about

Part No: 3678a Name: Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 without Bottom Tube
*
3678a Slope 65 2 x 2 x 2 without Bottom Tube

Speaking of Bionicle, you could have one of those common Technic ball-joint

such a piece. That's got me brainstorming...

Okayyyyy- now I see it! You may be right!

Sort of reminds me of this thing someone 3D printed:

https://www.myminifactory.com/de/object/3d-print-1l-lego-technic-liftarm-81004

Of course you wouldn't want to get THAT stuck in a 32474! (I occasionally
run into a similar 'homemade solution' when I find 1L axle stubs snapped
off of Bionicle detail parts in used LEGO batches. I had to drill a tiny center
hole and drive a fine screw into the bit to remove it on a couple occasions.)

I *had* seen it, probably at the same time as the new 2x4 brick with axle holes
and that technic connector block...

But I can't find it so I probably noticed the part when I was looking at
new items pending approval in our catalog...

All I can say is that I really would like a part like that! I can already
think of some situations I could have solved easily with that. Hopefully some
sleuth can sort this out for us. Please keep us updated.

Why do you think that smooth slopes is not an appropriate entry? I actually prefer
textured slopes and when I order textured slopes and get smooth slopes it does
not make me happy.

Can I ask what proof is required to submit the rectangular version of the 3062oldtile
?

I have both the one shown below and the rectangular version without stud that
I suppose would be something like 3005oldtile.

Not ready to list just yet but might want to do so sometime this year.

There are 87 of the "set", whereas there are 4294 listings for the part. So most
people have listed them as the single part. The sealed ones listed as sets are
likely to be correct, as are the used ones listed as sets as they do not need
to contain the packaging (although the listing should say that).

If you have plenty of a single part set (or single minifigure set), it is often
a good idea to list some as the part (or minifigure) and some as the set, as
different buys will search for different things.

Thanks, that is very helpful

But the reason we can't do that with the hinge brick is because Lego does
not issue the part as an assembly. They never have and likely never will.

LEGO doesn't issue BrickArms either but BrickLink has BrickArms on the website.

That decision goes directly AGAINST the catalog policy, so I deem those entries
to be stupid and unnecessary.

I believe keeping the 3830c01 single color combos is the right thing to do.
I dislike when admins forget that this is a COMMERCE website first and foremost
and does not exist to maintain a "pure" catalog.

3830c01 has been bought and sold THOUSANDS of times over the past 18 years and
it is clearly the preferred form for both buying and selling.

The decision to get rid of the brick hinge and add plate hinge had NOTHING to
do with any kind of purist notion. Rather, it was a decision based solely on
commercial concerns.

When a large portion of sellers list things as an assembly instead of the individual
parts, the listings are effectively split, meaning that for the part in question,
BrickLink's listing strength is diminished. What starts out as a well-meaning
idea based on someone's personal listing preferences then works its way through
the system as an ineffeciency, leading to more complicated wanted list assembly
and maintenance and a lot of missed hits from things like Easy Buy and traffic
that comes to us via Brickset and the Lego replacements parts website.

For that reason, we do not want assemblies in the catalog that have no good rationale
for their existence. The plate assemblies are very useful for sellers of used
parts because they don't have to pull the assemblies apart to list them.
The plate hinges break frequently when they are older.

The brick hinge, to my knowledge, does not break when disassembled. Neither is
it part of a larger class of items that can as a whole be treated as an assembly
- such as wheels and tires.

And lest people forget, this brick hinge assembly was completely removed from
inventories many years ago by Dan himself in what I believe to be was the first
step in decommissioning the entry altogether.

Regarding the idea that we could use the assembly *instead* of the individual
parts as the entry of choice on the site - this is kind of thinking that produced
this entry:

Part No: 8c01 Name: Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Wheel Holder Bottom with Red Wheel with Black Tire 14mm D. x 4mm Smooth Small Single (8 / 3464c01)
*
8c01 (Inv) Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Wheel Holder Bottom with Red Wheel with Black Tire 14mm D. x 4mm Smooth Small Single (8 / 3464c01)
Parts: Aircraft
It's just easier and simpler for everyone to use the assembly, and little
by little the assemblies are taking precedence over the individual parts in both
listings and sales.

But the reason we can't do that with the hinge brick is because Lego does
not issue the part as an assembly. They never have and likely never will. This
places a constraint on us, because we want to line up our catalog as much as
possible with the way bricks are treated by them. That way there is a smooth
pipeline through the supply chain. This is the same reason we started using multipacks:

Part No: 93081 Name: Friends Accessories, Flowers and Insects, 20 in Bag (Multipack)
*
93081 (Inv) Friends Accessories, Flowers and Insects, 20 in Bag (Multipack)
Parts: Friends

I still don't understand why they were marked for deletion. There only single

single colors.

I will sell them on other well known sites.

While this piece is being discussed, I have always found the name odd. It only
looks like a 1x4 hinge brick when it is paired together. Therefore if it is not
paired, then the parts are not a 1x4 brick. They look like 1x2 bricks with a
bit of modification.

LEGO refers to the individual pieces as a "hinge 1x2 upper part" or "lower part".
Which makes more sense when you are searching for it.

And in terms of setting a precedent:

I believe they have all those colored listings simple because of the difficulty
of taking those two pieces apart. I have broken several trying to do so. With
the 1x4 hinge brick, the pieces can come apart easily. I do not see the Cob's
problem at all. You make more money off of the two pieces if you sell them separately
than together. And it's only one listing more; not like it's a five piece
assembly you now have to disassemble. It's only two pieces.

Not saying it should be deleted, but that reason is valid. There are plenty
of sets where the two parts have different colours. Why would those combinations
not be available to buy?

The images look like they were photographed from different sides, but appear
to be the same.

Are there any physical differences?

This

Indeed, 8881-1 is like a service pack. See the second photo.

I have compared the photos. To me they appear physically identical; I just wanted
to know if they were in effect the same - whether a "set" (of one item?) or a
component (one item) in a set!

I don't get the whole service pack thing. :/

One is the battery box and the other is the bag and its content (its content
is the same battery box) So if you open the bag and take off the battery box,
you will get the item

Yeah, sorry I get what you mean. But to me that's not a service pack - that's
just an item within a packet. I'm used to product/software service packs,
that are more like upgrades to the original software, or additions to products
that improve the product and/or performance.

Thanks for the reply BTW.

As for now splitting old parts mold variants is on hold and as you can see this

The images look like they were photographed from different sides, but appear
to be the same.

Are there any physical differences?

Indeed, 8881-1 is like a service pack. See the second photo.

I have compared the photos. To me they appear physically identical; I just wanted
to know if they were in effect the same - whether a "set" (of one item?) or a
component (one item) in a set!

I don't get the whole service pack thing. :/

One is the battery box and the other is the bag and its content (its content
is the same battery box) So if you open the bag and take off the battery box,
you will get the item
