Thanks All

We have two shipping options:
Carrier and Australia Post Large Letter.

Carrier: Dimensions do not matter as all goes through the checkout.

Australia Post Large Letter: is governed by the height dimensions
and limited to 1.5cm up to 90grams. As height dimensions where
originally set by the Z = Height, there were no problems at the
checkout. We have had a number of visitors stating they can not
access the Large Letter option at the instant checkout, when
trying to order 6 small items. I would like to verify what the
height should be for instant checkout Large Letter?

  Hi All

Just checking the Height Dimensions for the shopping cart on 3068*

Please confirm if Y = Height ?

See Image note item 3068bpb0674 DimY= 0.32cm if correct should
pass through, however the majority are DimY = 1.6cm

From the help page https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2510&q=Dimensions+

DimX = Depth – the shortest of the two primary dimensions
DimY = Width – the longest of the two primary dimensions
DimZ = Height – the vertical dimension

I’ve seen DimY and DimZ interchanged many times.

Here it explains it all:

https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2510&q=packaging#Parts

There is an ideal order yes, but I think that the system rotates the parts to
fit, so if they are correct in total but in wrong order it should still work.

Here you can submit changes to put them correctly:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=P

It is under Market - Add or Change - Change item - Part

Yes, all minifigures are being updated with dimensions. The timeframe is dependent
on how fast volunteers fill out the catalog with minifigure dimensions. Right
now, there are only 2,938 minifigures left without dimensions out of a current
14,350 minifigures in the catalog. So approximately 80% have been completed.
You can help fill out the remaining part of the catalog by measuring any of the
2,938 minifigures that haven't received dimensions yet and submitting them
using this form:

https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp?itemType=M

In this way, you help everyone on the site instead of just your store.

Cheers,
Randy

Oops, forgot to post this.

The list of minifigures that do not have dimensions can be found here:

minifigures, X is width, Y is height, and Z is depth

Or do we have to manually change all the dimensions.

Thanks You

I have done something near 10,000 of them. I am not done, but it is getting harder.

  Hello There

With all the changes going ahead, can you please confirm which dimensions
are correct for the shopping cart in regards to height.

In the past Z = HEIGHT. Thus items processed well through large letter.

However visitors to bricklink are experiencing difficulties, they are not
able to proceed through the checkout with a variety of items that should
be suitable for large letter.

Do we need to manually change our dimensions, in particular for minifigs?

Please confirm what X = ? Y = ? Z = ?

Our store dimensions displayed in the shipping area for large letter
are as follows:- X = W : Y = H : Z = D see image attached

Images: Torso : Minifigure
Thank You 😊

Hi,

I have noticed that some of the minifigure packing dimensions are based on an
assembled figure (i.e. with hat/helmet on). This results in all three dimensions
being larger than 16mm.

Due to these dimensions instant checkout rejects the large letter option. However
if you send the minifure unassembled it often can easily fit into a large letter.

for example:

Minifig No: pi186 Name: Pirate - Black Pirate Triangle Hat, Blue Vest, Dark Bluish Gray Legs
*
pi186 (Inv) Pirate - Black Pirate Triangle Hat, Blue Vest, Dark Bluish Gray Legs
Minifigures: Pirates: Pirates IV

Has dimensions 26x43x17. which means that instant checkout rejects the large
letter option. (remove the hat and the item will now fit into a large letter
package.)

In this case the buyer had to select manual invoice and add a message asking
for the order to be sent as a large letter.

So the issue is should the packing dimensions for a minifigure be based on an
assembled or unassmbled figure?

For the BrickLink catalog, dimensions reflect the minifigure as assembled in
the catalog image. They also happen to be the dimensions used for the packing
calculation for minifigures. This was decided to be the standard by the site.
I am guessing this was because unassembled minifigure dimensions can be calculated
in numerous ways, but the assembled minifigure is usually one specific combination
of parts with one specific set of dimensions.

Cheers,
Randy

Should the packing dimensions reflect it rolled into a tube, or folded ?

Folding it detracts from it's play-ability.

USPS makes a triangular tube for Priority Mail, which is how I would guess it
could be mailed.

It's cases like this that caused us to implement the custom dimensions fields.
How the seller chooses to pack an item is completely up to the seller.
