I have picked up a 8697 Toa Ignika that is still in original bags but I'm
not sure if all of the necessary bags are all there. There are 3 large bags
with a smaller bag inside one of the larger bags. Does that seem right? All
I could find on YouTube were speed builds.
Thanks,

You can view an inventory for the set either here on BrickLink or on the www.LEGO.com
website.
To view it on the www.LEGO.com website, click on Help, click on Find Building
Instructions, enter set number, download .pdf and look at the last few pages
on the instruction scans. You will see a list of official LEGO parts and their
element ID and quantity included there.
On BrickLink, you will see the BrickLink ID and get basically the same information.
Some numbers differ from the LEGO.com version, but the BrickLink version will
enable you to order parts for the set, if thy are for sale on BrickLink.
Hope that helps.
Cheers ...

enabled, yet selecting this field on the Inventory screen does not bring up any
parts (yes, I do have several parts in inventory that exceed 2cm.)
|
Filtering by IC unavailable will only show parts:
-that are set to a manual package type, or
-if the weight is missing (if set to weight bound), or
-if any of the dimensions are missing (if set to volume bound).
| To clarify, for my Store Settings, under the Shipping tab in the "Restrictions
and Adjustments" section for my main shipping option, I have a Max Dimension
of "2cm" showing for the middle "(h)" field.
|
This dimension is used to calculate the max volume of a package.
To complicate your search, looking at just the height of a part to see if it's
more than 2 cm will not give you what you want. You need to exclude any part
where any of the three dimensions is less than 2 cm.
For example, a 1x6x5 panel will show in your search as it is more than 2 cm in
height. but the system realizes the panel can lie down. In other words, it looks
at the smallest of the dimension fields to determine "volume" height.
To complicate things, the dimensions listed in the inventory don't follow
the package restriction dimensions of w x h x d.
Parts follow d x w x h:
DimX = Depth (shortest of the two horizontal dimensions)
DimY = Width (longest of the two horizontal dimensions)
DimZ = Height (vertical dimension)
Minifigures and sets use w x h x d (as if it is standing up)
DimX = Width
DimY = Height
DimZ = Depth

Is there any other way of adding in the height restriction to this shipping option,
to align with what you proposed?

I have the following set for package restrictions for my lettermail shipping
method:
37 cm(w) x 1.85 cm(h) x 26 cm(d)
I use slightly smaller dimensions than allowed by Canada Post to account for
packaging.
I only add a remark if the part is close to the max thickness allowed with lettermail.
----------------------------------
With regards to Packing Type setting: Weight Bound should be used for parts that
are approximately 2 x 2 x 2 cm and smaller.
From Admin Russell: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1342842
One aspect of the system that is not widely known or understood is the effect
of packing dimensions on weight bound items - these are small parts. Even though
an item is weight bound and will not cause a direct issue with size, when the
volume calculation is performed at the end of the process, packing dimensions
are used to calculate the total liquid dimension (volume). Small parts containing
a lot of empty space may trigger a volume issue even though the weight was within
the limits.

| Thanks for the reply! Based on the fact that this filter option for "Instant
Checkout Unavailable" does not return any results for my inventory, I am inclined
to believe that your statement about which results it returns is correct.
To clarify, for now I am only looking for those items with a height of 2cm, as
the restrictions for length and width are much larger (27cm+). I can work on
isolating those parts that are too long or wide later, as there are fewer of
them.
I really hope there is a way of applying this filter!

I believe that filtering for instant checkout unavailable returns only parts
where instant checkout is unavailable in general; i.e., the part is missing weight
and/or dimensions in the catalog. If you override the catalog dimensions with
your own, then those parts will qualify for instant checkout even if they don't
meet your shipping method restrictions.
Are you trying to filter out all parts that have any dimension over 2 cm, or
only parts where all three dimensions exceed 2 cm? Or only parts where the height
exceeds 2 cm? For example, would a 6 x 16 plate ship as lettermail or parcel?
Regardless, I'll leave this one to the Canadian/British sellers since in
my experience the way the instant checkout algorithm calculates volume and dimensions
often returns unexpected results.

Since 2cm is the Canada Post height restriction, I would like to add a note to
all such parts so that customers are aware that adding those items to an order
will automatically trigger the much-more-expensive parcel rate.
I really do not want to have to go through all items individually to isolate
just those parts!

You can change your shipping options in IC so that only items up to 2cm have
IC available. Then go to the inventory page and filter by IC unavailable.

| This part has no weight or dimensions, so I have measured it.
Weight - 2 g
Pack Dimensions - 3.0 x 2.8 x 1.7 cm
Thanks

The existing dimensions forces instant checkout to select a parcel option for
shipping for most of these 87421 stickered items, but the items are thin enough
to fit into a large letter (less expensive shipping).
My question is:
Is there a quick way to correct the packing dimensions for all of these stickered
parts, or does each have to be changed individually?

We always use this form to ask for changes
https://www.bricklink.com/catalogReq.asp
If there are a lot of changes for the same part (e.g. stickered variants), fill
in the correct changes and after clicking submit use the back function from your
browser. Everything is still filled in and you only need to change one digit
from the item number to submit it again for another part.
We use Chrome browser, not tested it with other browsers.
