It feels like we only just announced the news of our collaboration with the LEGO Group, but here we are, with the submission phase of the AFOL Designer Program officially over. Thank you for your passion and commitment in creating unique designs with truly original themes! We are just blown away by all the entries we’ve received. We will be sharing fun tidbits from behind-the-scenes as we begin the selection process.

What happens during the design selection process?

The AFOL Designer Program team will hold an initial review for all submitted AFOL designs. Each submission that passes the initial review will undergo a feasibility test.  We will then make final selections before onboarding designers. You can view the current status of the design selection process on the AFOL Designer Program landing page.

When does crowdfunding begin?

We will announce selected AFOL designs before crowdfunding officially begins February 2019 so that you have a chance to think about which designs you want to support. Successfully crowdfunded designs will become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set exclusively available on BrickLink. More details about how crowdfunding works will be announced as the date gets closer.

Whether you submitted a design, participated in discussions surrounding the program, or are just plain excited about what’s to come, we thank you! We are honored to have your continued support and can’t wait to share our selections.

Happy Holidays!

After we posted a teaser about the AFOL Designer Program, we closely monitored the conversation surrounding it. It was fun to read what you all thought this program would be. So what is it exactly? In case you missed it, BrickLink and the LEGO Group are celebrating 60 years of the LEGO® brick with the AFOL community by realizing unique designs with truly original themes. Through this program, your design can become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set!

How does the AFOL Designer Program work?

The program will have three main phases:

1. Accepting entries - To give you some time to think about what you’d like to design, we will begin accepting entries on September 18th until November 18th. Your designs will not be displayed publicly during this time. The LEGO design team will review your submissions made with Studio 2.0, and up to 20 finalists will be selected.
2. Crowdfunding - Selected designs will be announced and displayed for crowdfunding beginning February 2019. You will be able to pre-order designs at this time.
3. Release - Successfully crowdfunded designs will become a limited edition 60 Years Anniversary set exclusively available on BrickLink. We will begin shipping orders April 2019.

Why should I submit my designs?

Besides being able to share your designs with the AFOL community, designs that are selected for realization will also be reviewed and produced as limited edition box sets. On top of that, BrickLink will pay 10% of total sales revenue to designers for all successfully crowdfunded AFOL designs including pre-order. You will retain full IP rights for non-selected designs, meaning you can freely use your original designs for any other purpose after the event.

Even if you aren’t a designer, we’d still love everyone to get involved! You can share your design ideas with the AFOL community in the Studio 2.0 forum.

Ready to get started?

The AFOL Designer Program requires that your designs are submitted with Studio 2.0, which has improved functionality and new features for this program (new features will be available Sep 18th). A building palette made specifically for the AFOL Designer Program will be included so that you are able to focus more on the design itself. Next, check if your design is stable with the all-new stability check because we want to fall for designs, not have them fall apart. Then you can export breathtaking images and even create building instructions for your designs!

Go here for more details about design requirements or FAQs, or go here to download or learn more about Studio 2.0.

We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Thank you,

BrickLink Team

Today is such an exciting day at the BrickLink office because we finally get to reveal a very special collaboration with none other than the LEGO Group. We’ve been bursting at the seams because of how long we’ve had to keep this program a secret! Now that we’ve all had a minute to scream and catch our breaths, let’s get into the details.

What is the AFOL Designer Program?

This program celebrates creativity by realizing unique AFOL designs with truly original themes. What better timing than to kick it off in the year of the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick? For a limited time, BrickLink will be hosting the AFOL Designer Program. We are honored to help highlight your creativity and help make your designs a reality.

Where can I get more information?

An official announcement and more details about the program will be revealed Wednesday, September 12th. Mark your calendars!

Dear BrickLink sellers,

We know that selling on BrickLink is a unique experience, one which is unmatched by any other marketplace platform. We've heard that many of you are tired of sending invoices, worrying about non-paying buyers, and dealing with cancellation requests. We've listened to your feedback and have been diligently working on a solution to these common seller woes. After a considerable amount of time and effort put in from the team, we are pleased to finally announce that the long-awaited preview of Instant Checkout will premiere by the end of this month.

You may wonder why it took so much time for BrickLink to implement such a basic e-commerce feature. It’s simply because BrickLink is not like any standard e-commerce site. Despite its many drawbacks and inconveniences, worldwide BrickLink sellers have fully stretched out the flexibility of manual invoicing to provide unique perks and negotiable offers for their buyers. As a result, each store comes with unique policies for shipping and handling fee calculations. For example, some stores offer special discounts for qualified orders, some apply conditional insurance to a certain type of packages, etc. We had to read through and analyze thousands of written policies to figure out the most common practices. A dedicated team has been working on this top-priority project for years to make sure our new tool could automate the majority of them in a systematic way.

This newsletter answers many questions you might have for the Instant Checkout feature. We hope your store will participate in this streamlined shopping experience and order management process soon.

What is Instant Checkout?

It’s a combination of a new automated invoicing option and on-site payment methods such as PayPal or Stripe. With automated invoicing, buyers can view the final order price during checkout and make direct payment using on-site payment methods.

Why do I need to switch to Instant Checkout?

In some countries including Germany, E-commerce sites are required to show the final order price to buyers before they are obligated to pay. Instant Checkout is compliant with German E-commerce law and will make your business fully legitimate in any country. In addition, it will help the growth of your business as your store will be more frequently exposed to buyers when a new option to filter stores that support Instant Checkout is introduced to the BrickLink Catalog and Wanted List.

Can I automate the invoicing process without accepting onsite payments?

Yes, you can automate the invoicing process without accepting onsite payments; you’ll just need to set up automation-ready shipping methods. If your buyer chooses one of those shipping methods, they will see the final price during checkout and get an invoice as soon as they place an order.

Can I keep using manual invoicing instead of Instant Checkout?

Of course you can. Instant Checkout is an optional feature for sellers to participate in. If you don’t make any changes to your shipping settings, you can keep using your current manual invoicing methods. For those manual shipping methods, you have the option to enable the price quote feature.

How can I set up Instant Checkout?

If your store already accepts at least one onsite payment method, all you need to do is to set up automation-ready shipping methods to enable Instant Checkout. There are three ways to complete this step:

1. Migration of existing shipping methods

Your existing shipping methods with rate charts will be migrated to the new system along with other settings including insurance and handling fees. You can turn on the automated invoicing option for these methods to enable Instant Checkout.

2. Importing shared shipping methods

Sellers can share automation-ready shipping methods with other sellers in their country. You can review and import any shared shipping methods and customize them as you’d like.

3. Manual setup

In case your shipping policies are described only in your written store/shipping policies, they will not be automatically migrated to the new shipping settings. For that case, you can create a new shipping method or edit existing ones to fill in a predefined rate chart. You may also need to configure additional options and restrictions to match your written shipping policies.

How does it calculate shipping cost?

Shipping cost is determined by the predefined rate chart of each shipping method. Three different types of rate chart are supported:

  * Weight band: shipping cost is determined by the total item weight and destination zone
  * Price band: shipping cost is determined by the total item price and destination zone
  * Flat rate: A flat shipping rate will be applied per each destination zone

Each zone contains a list of countries which sellers can customize.

What are the additional options and restrictions I can configure for automation?

Additional options and restrictions can be configured by adding customizable rules.

Discount options

If you want to waive a portion or the full shipping cost for orders over a certain amount, you can add shipping discount rules.

Insurance options

Insurance options can be added for a zone or multiple zones with or without additional fees. You can set up your own flexible insurance policies with a combination of item price range and buyer/seller requests.

Tracking options

Sellers may also add tracking options with or without additional fees based on the item price, shipping fee, total weight, or when an order is insured.

Handling fees

Handling fees can be added based on the item price, per lot average value, or by a fixed price or rate.

Package restrictions

Since each shipping method has different package restrictions, sellers can configure the max package weight, dimension, length, volume, or girth to match each courier’s shipping methods.

How can buyers keep their orders open for multiple order batches with Instant Checkout?

Paid orders cannot be combined into order batches. To allow batch orders, you need to set up a manually-invoiced shipping method (i.e. ‘Keep orders open’). Once a buyer is ready to check out, they can choose an Instant Checkout shipping method and the total price will be calculated based on all of the unpaid orders.

Instead of listing multiple shipping methods for buyers, my store always picks the most affordable method for them. Can I still have that option with Instant Checkout?

If you don’t want your buyers to choose from a list of shipping methods, you can use the ‘Grouping’ feature. When multiple shipping methods are combined into a group, only the cheapest method within that group will be shown to buyers during checkout.

How can I manage orders received with Instant Checkout?

There is no additional action required to manage Instant Checkout orders. All Instant Checkout orders are received in ‘Paid’ status - you just need to pack and ship them.

When will this be available?

A seller preview of Instant Checkout will begin on June 21st, 2017. Sellers will be able to access new shipping method settings and experience the Instant Checkout shopping experience in their own stores. The public release schedule for Instant Checkout will be announced during the preview session.

If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to leave a comment on this post.

Thanks,
BrickLink Instant Checkout Team

Dear BrickLink Sellers,

Mosaick's beta release is just around the corner! As we make the finishing touches on this awesome new tool, we want to share with you exactly what this feature is and how you can prepare for it's release.

What is Mosaick?
Mosaick is our brand new tool which enables the average AFOL or amateur designer to turn any image into a digital LEGO mosaic. Users can adjust settings like resolution & size to meet their individual preference and price constraints, then source the parts right on BrickLink! Designing and purchasing your own LEGO mosaic has never been easier.

Why is this important to me as a seller?
We expect Mosaick to bring in a host of new users to the community. Since we've made purchasing the parts for mosaics so simple, we expect sales to significantly increase (for typical mosaic pieces in particular). We want to make sure you are stocked up and ready for the release. With our combined effort, we expect this tool to be a great success!

Sounds great! When will this tool become available?
Open Beta release is currently scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2017. We will be premiering Mosaick to the public at the BrickWorld 2017 Convention in Chicago, Illinois. We're less than a month away, which is why stocking up on baseplates, plates, and tiles is super important right now!

What are the plate dimensions needed?
The following are the dimensions of the plates that are needed for the Mosaick creations in all colors:

1 x 1 1 x 2 1 x 3 1 x 6 1 x 8 1 x 10 1 x 12
2 x 2 2 x 3 2 x 4 2 x 6 2 x 8 2 x 10 2 x 12 2 x 14 2 x 16
3 x 3
4 x 4 4 x 6 4 x 8 4 x 10 4 x 12
6 x 6 6 x 8 6 x 10 6 x 12 6 x 14 6 x 16 6 x 24
8 x 8 8 x 11 8 x 16

What are the tile dimensions needed?
The following are the dimensions of the tiles that are needed for the Mosaick creations in all colors:

1 x 1 1 x 2 1 x 3 1 x 4 1 x 6 1 x 8
2 x 2 2 x 4
6 x 6
8 x 16

What are the baseplate dimensions needed?

The following are the baseplates that are needed for the Mosaick creations:

48 x 48 baseplate
32 x 32 baseplate
16 x 16 baseplate

Since the color of the baseplate is not important for these mosaics, our algorithms will always recommend the lowest priced baseplate(s) in the result.

Is there anything else I should know?
We'll keep you updated with any important information in the next few weeks. For now, you can ask questions and discuss Mosaick on its official forum topic.
We appreciate you using BrickLink to host your LEGO business and look forward to a fun and successful summer together.

We are happy to announce Easy Buy, a convenient new shopping tool for BrickLink buyers. It automatically fills carts so that you can purchase all of the items in a Stud.io Creation or Wanted List with just a few clicks. It finds a practical and optimal combination of BrickLink stores by comparing item prices and estimated shipping fees to minimize the total price of orders.

You may achieve the same results with the Wanted List Auto-Finder feature, but Easy Buy allows you to jump directly to the final step of the store finding process by skipping all the extra options to choose stores.

Using Easy Buy

You can use Easy Buy to purchase Stud.io Creations shared in the Build Gallery.

Just click [Easy Buy] button on any Gallery Creation and wait until it finds an optimal store combination. If you’re satisfied with the result, you can create all of the carts with just one click.

Easy Buy is also available for your Wanted List. Click the [Easy Buy] button next to each Wanted List from the Wanted List overview page to add all of the items in the Wanted List to store carts.

We hope this new tool will help you save your time and discover great local stores that can fulfill your orders.

Thanks,
BrickLink Team

The story behind your store can be just as fun as the LEGO that you sell. We’re launching a new program for ANY BrickLink seller to show and tell what goes on behind-the-scenes at their BrickLink store. We’re constantly fascinated by people’s stories, whether they grew up playing with LEGO or had a calling later in life. We’re also amazed by people’s experiences with LEGO, whether they primarily build or collect and sell on the side, or run a BrickLink business full-time.

No matter where you come from or how big your store is, don’t be afraid to share your story! All you need to do is write about a topic that relates to your BrickLink experience, whether it’s about your store or about a project where BrickLink played a part. In fact, we’re looking for a wide range of stories that contain one or more of the following topics:

- Inside look at your BrickLink space
- Tips for running a BrickLink store
- About your LEGO hobby

As a start, we will select 10 stories that the BrickLink community would find most interesting - the stories where members will be able to get to know you or gain another perspective of your store. Be sure to include enough information and photos to make your story memorable to BrickLink visitors and shoppers.

To submit your story, click here. If your story is selected by BrickLink staff, our editors will work with you to polish your article and prepare for your seller spotlight. Your spotlight will include a full-page story that links to your store (view example) and a dedicated top banner on the BrickLink homepage. All form submitters can expect to hear back within 1-2 weeks after submission.

If you have any questions, email us at media@bricklink.com. We look forward to hearing your stories and featuring as many sellers as possible!

Submit my story

Happy writing,
The BrickLink Team

Today, we gladly announce the launch of the new storefront project.
It’s not just about a modernized look.
The team has been focusing on improving the shopping experience without changing the uniqueness of BrickLink.
It also is a stepping stone of upcoming changes. Here are three main points we want to highlight:

Upgraded Store Landing Page

The Store landing page is the face of each store, and each seller has a different idea of what it should look like.
To give more control to the seller, you can curate items as you wish.
For example, in the Shop tab, you can choose items you want to promote and show them to buyers upon entering store.
You can even designate which tab, Shop, Terms or Splash, will be the landing page of your store among.

Enhanced Search

As one of the most important features, Search also received some updates.
Before, you had to exit the item page to use search filters in a store.
It wasn’t easy to keep narrowing down a search result.
We wanted to make this easy.
Now, all filters will stay in the left panel so it can be applied to Items and Wanted List items in a store.

New Feedback Design

Previously, buyer and seller feedback were mixed in one page.
However, store feedback is totally different from user feedback, so we separated them into new Store Feedback and User Feedback (current feedback page).
In the new Store Feedback page, Buyers can check recent 6 months and lifetime feedback of a store.
Infographic stats of recent 6 months feedback can help buyers better understand a store at a glance.
You can view each type of feedback by selecting the Praise, Negative, or Neutral tab as well.

What’s Next?

After polishing the Storefront, the team will focus on improving seller tools, such as Inventory management.
We will first work on Store Settings so that sellers will have better control over their stores.
The project will kick off with a New Skin and Inventory Dashboard.

Through a recent survey, we found that many users struggled to even use the Wanted List and desired an easier way to find the best combination of stores for their more complex lists.
Therefore, we reworked the whole experience to make it easier to manage a list and designed a new buying experience that focuses on the necessity to compare and plan out multiple carts at once.
Read a summary of the updates below and check it out now here.

Better ways to add items

Send items to your Wanted List without ever leaving your current page. Look for the heart symbols across BrickLink to get started.
Add items directly from inside your wanted list while managing your Wanted List.
Import popular file types directly using our new Upload page (BrickStore/BrickStock, LDraw, LEGO Digital Designer).
Choose items without knowing the Item ID in our new Part Out page.

Smarter list manager

Build up and edit your list with more tools at your disposal. Editing multiple items at once is now easier and faster.
Track the completion of your wanted list with the new “Have Quantity” field. The system will keep track of the “Have Quantity” and help you then focus on the remaining quantity.

New buying experience

Plan out multiple stores simultaneously for complex wanted lists with the new Buy page.
Use the Auto-Finder instead if you want to automatically find the optimal store or combination of stores that can complete your wanted list.

Watch the video below to see the new Wanted List in action or take a look at the new help pages for additional information.

Dear BrickLink members,

Your long wait for a newer and better BrickLink is finally over... almost!
All the BrickLink staff and admins are proud to announce preview release of BrickLink Face/Off.
This release includes a redesigned homepage, Storefront’s second revision,
and a brand new Wanted List.
These new features have been presented to and endorsed by recent roundtable meeting attendees from an early design stage.
Read about the new features below and visit BrickLink Preview Site to experience them.

Redesigned Homepage and Navigation

The new homepage will showcase the way people use BrickLink like browsing for items, contributing to the catalog, and shopping at individual stores.
All visitors will see the same content across their homepages, but store recommendations may change based on their location and login status (more information below).
Here are some of the changes you can look forward to seeing:

New navigation menu: BrickLink’s current 12 top-level menus has been reorganized into 6 top-level menus with a global shopping cart. The most frequently used pages are only one click away.

Browse Catalog: The six main item types in the catalog are visually represented in this section.

Trending Items: Scroll through sets and minifigures that have gained recent popularity in the last seven days.

New Items: Preview Newest Items, and jump tocertain item types like “Parts” or “Sets.”

Recommended Stores: The stores that received the most orders from other buyers closest to your geographical area will appear under Recommended Stores. We want to help you connect with reliable sellers recognized by buyers in your community. Keep in mind that once you Bookmark a recommended store, a different store will appear in its place. For sellers: Find out how you can increase your chances of being featured on the homepage here.

Storefront 2nd Preview

Since Storefront’s first preview, we’ve compiled feedback from buyers and sellers regarding improvements. Overall page structure and item image quality are just some of the features that were improved. See below for a quick summary of what was changed:

Independent scrolling: You can scroll down the left and right sides independently of each other. When scrolling down the right side, the header will shrink to provide a broader view for browsing store items.

Rendered image quality: We improved rendered image quality so item images won’t look broken on grid view.

Fluid page width: Having a small or large screen will no longer be an issue. Items details and all page elements will display properly based on your screen size.
Landing page settings: You can designate Shop, Terms or Splash as your store’s landing page.

Enhanced search: Item Condition and On Sale filters are accessible without expanding the filter section.

More control on the shop page: You can show/hide the newest items of your store.

New feedback page: Each store has a dedicated store feedback page. You can now check most recent feedback and order statistics.

...and so much more. Visit your store and take a look!

New Wanted List

Through a recent survey, we found that many users struggled to use the Wanted List and desired to easily find a combination of stores. Therefore, we reworked and simplified the experience to create and manage a list that can be used to quickly find the stores that can complete it.

Better ways to add items
Send items to your list without leaving the page using our new Add Item tool. You can also now add items directly from your wanted list.

Import popular file types using our new Upload page (.bsx/.ldr/.lxf).
Choose items without knowing the Item ID in our new Part Out page.

Smarter list manager
Build up and edit your list with more tools at your disposal. Editing multiple items at once is easier and faster.
Track the completion of your wanted list with the new “Have Quantity” field. The system will keep track of the “Have Quantity” to help you focus on the remaining quantity.

New buying experience
Plan out multiple stores simultaneously for long Wanted Lists with the new Buy page.

Use Auto-Finder if you want to automatically find the optimal store or combination of stores that can complete your wanted list.

New Catalog Item Image Requirements

In addition to new features, catalog item image policies and the submission tool will be upgraded as images with higher resolution show more details. For the best quality, we recommend that you upload photos taken on a clean, white background.

New catalog image requirements

New catalog items must be submitted with at least one image to be approved

Item images must be at least 640x480 pixels (480x640 pixels for minifigures)
Instead of submitting a small and large image separately, one original high resolution image will be automatically resized and adjusted for each page.

Ready to play around with the all new BrickLink? Click the link below to access the Preview Site, and don’t forget to leave your feedback simply by replying to this news announcement.

BrickLink Preview

We’ll continue to work on possible improvements to reflect your feedback and hope to release this new BrickLink by the end of May.

Thanks,
BrickLink Team

Have you ever used a dating service to meet potential soulmates but felt like they never understood your LEGO passion? Do you feel like you’ve exhausted all your options to meet that special brick-building someone? Are you sick of spending time with your newly purchased bricks alone?

Worry no longer! Now is the time to take advantage of BrickLink’s 1x5 Finder. 1x5 Finder uses deep-learning algorithms to match users with prospective brickmates based on preferences, like building style or favorite LEGO theme. Begin the search for your fellow brick-lover today, and take advantage of some of our newest features and upgrades.

* 1x5 Finder: Advanced Member Search

If you are picky when it comes to buying and sorting your bricks, then you will truly appreciate the advanced search feature. With the option to search for members by specific criteria such as favorite LEGO themes, most purchased parts, and favorite brick color, you will have no trouble narrowing down the options to find your ideal match.

* Upgraded Member Collage

One of the most unknown features of BrickLink is the member collage. To help personalize the experience, we’ve created an online venue where you can upload and share your *real* profile photos and status updates. It has been around long before social media sites such as Facebook or Instagram were born. It’s also unknown how many AFOL community members have found their brickmate with this feature. Today, we announce a couple of important upgrades to our mysterious member collage service.

1. Photo verification

Our AI logic and 24-hour special admin team will monitor and filter out unrealistic profile photos from the system. Of course, members can police each other by reporting fake photos to our admins.

2. Member suggestion

Collage photos will be sorted based on your preferences and proximity to other members. This will guarantee that the best-matching members will be listed first.

Starting April 1st, we will end support for Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 8 and older. Support for SSL 3.0 will also be discontinued, but we will still support TLS 1.0 and above. This security measure is to ensure that we keep your BrickLink browsing experience safe and secure.

For more information on the specific security bug that SSL 3.0 has, please see this post by Mozilla: https://blog.mozilla.org/security/2014/10/14/the-poodle-attack-and-the-end-of-ssl-3-0/

At the time of writing, supported versions are as follows:

* IE versions 9, 10, 11 & Edge
* Google Chrome version 49
* Mozilla Firefox version 44
* Safari version 9
* Opera version 35

What does it mean to be “supported?”

A browser without support will no longer receive updates or technical support. A majority of updates are fixes for critical security bugs that keep your data safe. Using software without these updates is comparable to leaving your front door unlocked - all it takes is someone curious to try and break in.
Please take a moment to compare and pick the browser you’ll enjoy most at http://browsehappy.com.

If you’ve noticed mobile browsers missing from this list, we would like to reassure you that the mobile browsers will continue to work. However, we cannot commit to specific versions until we have finalized our mobile content strategy. We’ll continue to explore approaches that will maintain the BrickLink experience without removing the functionality that you, our users, have come to rely on every day.

Sincerely,
Your BrickLink Team

Dear BrickLink members,

As we settle into the new year, we are happy to announce the new changes coming to all BrickLink stores near you! The storefront has largely remained unchanged while other areas of the site have undergone noticeable changes. The BrickLink team has been hard at work bringing it up to speed and providing new ways for you to enjoy selling and shopping for LEGO.

We prepared a preview site for you to check out the new Storefront and give us feedback before we make an official release. The link to the Preview Site can be found at the bottom of the page, but we encourage you to join us as we walk through some of the major changes.

Please note that the new Storefront is still in development and bugs are expected.

A New Look

Our goal was to make the Storefront interface familiar enough to current users yet easier to navigate for all shoppers. We kept all major elements near their expected locations and simplified the experience to focus on the individual store’s content.

In terms of personalization, the new store background color will affect the entire store header. Sellers can now add their own custom logo to visually represent their store.

Your Store’s Curated Landing Page

Customers should be greeted with items to buy -- not text to read -- when landing on any online store. With the new Featured Groups, sellers can select specific items from their inventory and display them on their shop's landing page. Have all the latest Force Awaken sets in stock? Show them off! Increased the sale amount on your clearance items? Let users know!

Your store's landing page can also display what’s new in your store. Newly added lots of each Item Type will automatically show below any existing Featured Group. It will be a great way for loyal customers to check out the latest lots in their favorite stores.

Sellers can easily manage and edit Featured Groups from your Store Settings page.

New Splash Page Behavior

We made changes to the store Splash Page as we shifted the focus of the storefront to be more about product discovery. With the new design, the splash page will no longer be a page but a greeting the user sees upon entry (just like an actual splash page!). Moving forward, we also hope that this encourages sellers to simplify their splash page and treat it more like an introduction. If you are worried your store terms will be missed, don’t worry too much! We have integrated the store terms into the new checkout process which will be covered at a later time.

Changes to the Category Viewer

Our first objective was to improve the consistency with the BrickLink Catalog by supporting hierarchy levels within categories and showing how each category breaks down. Next, we consolidated viewing options, like “By Category” and “By Color,” under tabs to reduce the amount of vertical space. You can also collapse/expand an Item Type so that you can focus on the ones that matter to you.

A More Powerful Search

When designing the new search experience, we focused on creating a more interactive version of the search you are already familiar with. The previous search would return a list of results but with no useful way to organize and digest the results. Being frustrated with that, we made the Category Viewer reactive to your search so that you can see which categories the results are coming from.

Still not happy with the search results? We brought out features from the advanced search and made them into dynamic filters. Make changes to your filters on the go and watch your results update in real time! The Category Viewer will also update based on your active filters, so feel free to add filters to your search for the most relevant results. Users will have the option to hide categories that return no results for an even faster search analysis.

Important Store Term Indicators

Before, “Minimum Buy” was hidden within the store terms and was easy to miss for newcomers. With the new design, we dedicated some space to always show normalized store terms like “Minimum Buy”. This space will also include VAT information. However, VAT information will be hidden to buyers outside of the EU region and Norway so that there is no confusion about extra fees. We’re also introducing Average Lot Value (commonly seen in stores) into the normalized store terms. In this implementation, Average Lot Value is defined as the Cart Value / # of Lots in Cart.

Your Store Announcement

Ever had an important change to your store terms? Leaving on vacation and want to alert users ahead of time? Make it clear by creating a store announcement. The store announcement will be displayed to all unique visitors until they choose to dismiss the notice.

Sellers can set up a Store Announcement inside your Store Settings page.

New Favorite Stores System

Being able to keep track of your favorite (and even disliked) stores is important to any community marketplace. Therefore, we worked to make the process more intuitive. First, we removed the term “Least Favorite” to avoid confusion. Second, the feature is now called “Bookmark” since you can choose to either Favorite, Dislike, or Subscribe to the store. Finally, a simple window will replace the previous interface that was quite difficult for newcomers to find.

Access to the Catalog from Storefront

This has been a request that came up a lot when meeting users. In order to access the catalog page, users can click on the Item No. in the "Quick Shop" window to access the catalog page in a new tab. In List View, the “Quick Shop” window can be accessed by clicking on the image thumbnail.

Remodeled Cart Page

The Cart page has been reorganized to help you better manage the items added to your store cart. With the new layout, it is easier to scan, compare, and update lot info, like quantity and price, while going down the list.

Disclaimer:

1. The checkout process has been disabled in this preview.
2. The Feedback page has also been disabled in this preview.
3. The Store Settings will be updated later to reflect all new changes.
4. Some new part images are used for test purpose before they are submitted for approval. Feel free to give feedback about them.
5. The preview site currently is tested with Chrome browser only and we're working on compatibility issues on other browsers.

More information about these features will be released at a later time.

Accessing the Preview Site

To preview and experience the new storefront, please visit http://preview.bricklink.com.

On your first visit, you will be greeted with a splash page of the preview. Click “Ok, Continue” to proceed to the test environment. Once inside the test environment, feel free to check out your own store or visit any store of your choice.

How can I ask questions or give feedback?

If you have questions or feedback regarding the new Storefront, add your comments to this news posting. If you feel the need to start a new thread about the Storefront Preview, please include [Preview] somewhere in the subject line so that we can keep track of them. We will review and respond to your feedback as soon as we can.

When will all these changes go live?

We will announce the release date once we have reviewed and considered all your feedback.

We hope our new Storefront design gets you excited to shop!
Thanks,
-BrickLink Team
