Time for a sale to celebrate Spring and help pay off our tax bill for the year.

The sale will run through Sunday, April 15th

Parts up to 40% off
Mini-figures up to 30% off
Instructions & boxes up to 75% off

We are marking a lot of boxes and instructions down heavily as we plan to start
recycling or repurposing older boxes that haven't sold for years for shipping
packages to make more space.

AVERAGE lot minimum is $.30/lot.

The lot limit is set for 100. If you must order more, please request a bypass
code but we will add on an add'l $2 charge per 100 lots on top of the usual
$1 per 40 lots.

Please keep in mind that larger orders will take longer to fulfill.

Orders are pulled in the order they are paid.

Due to expected high demand, we will likely be at least 1-2 days behind on pulling
orders

added.

Sale runs to Dec 15th.

Sets up to 30% off

Parts up to 40% off

Mini Figures up to 35% off

Boxes & Instructions up to 75% off

they turn it over to shipper

I've had quite a few instances where the tracking doesn't update AT
ALL
over 5-7days until the package is at the buyers postal facility, so it
is possible it's not always the sellers doing.

This is also frustrating as a seller, because it looks like the order was never
shipped after over a week has passed, which is bad look for my shop.

That being said, if the 2-3 day delay does matter to you, I agree with Jen in
saying leave the seller a note to send a drive through notification in the order
comments.

Have to concur with Caroline here about the occasional lack of scanning by USPS.
We've seen that happen every now and then, particularly more during the
worst of COVID, where a package gets dropped off at the PO and somehow goes several
days or a couple weeks and appears that it never made it past the initial label
creation. It is frustrating for both buyers and sellers, but not much the seller
can do about it.

As for our process, we mark orders packed after they are packed (after they are
paid). We only mark them shipped once we have actually dropped them off at the
PO. For those occasions where we create a label the night before or on a Sunday
or holiday, we send a note with the tracking # that their order will ship the
next day (Monday. Tuesday, etc...) and leave it in packed status until it is
physically shipped.

In my original post to start this thread, I alluded to instances like this that
look like they could be money laundering schemes.

I was thinking more along the lines of setting up an account to "buy" from oneself
in order to drive up the price, but that works too

While that is plausible too, someone is paying BL fees on those transactions
so I'm not sure it would be worth paying those fees just to drive up the
price.

When listing parts, I usually go by the current and past 6 month averages to
gauge what to list my parts for.

It seems I am more frequently coming across parts that are listed for insane
$ compared to average costs. For example, part 47398 in dark bluish gray. There
is one for over $8K !!!

I looked at the rest of their inventory and I assume this is a typo as the rest
of their inventory seems reasonably priced. From personal experience, I know
mistakes happen. I've had other users let me know when they see something
like this in my inventory, and I just found one today on my own - $70.08 for
a part that I intended to be $.08.

Is there a mechanism BL can put in place to find and either notify sellers of
these instances or unlist them to keep the average prices more accurate?

I often sell music on a website called discogs.com and when I've had a typo
on a listing ($1200 instead of $12.00), the item gets flagged as a violation
until the price is corrected. Would be nice if the same could happen on BL.

On the flipside, I've always wondered if there is something nefarious going
on like money laundering or inflating inventory values for tax situations. I
have seen some of these outrageous prices in the past 6 months sold, so wonder
who in their right mind would spend $20 on parts that usually sell for only $.10.
Maybe that is from watching Ozark for so long!!

To bring this back to the original posting... I reached out to the seller/store
in question and let them know about the prices I saw. While they never responded,
I just perused their wedge plate items and none of them seem to have the $8K
prices, so I'm assuming it was not their intent to sell them for so much.

I'm not sure what you are implying is illegal in the US.

Discogs website removing the listing because of the price.
Me listing the price for an unreasonable price (accidentally)

or selling music 2nd hand, which is perfectly legal in the US - otherwise 1000's
of record stores & online sellers would be breaking the law via various portals
(discogs, ebay, amazon, etc...)

After listing new items for sale, it may be a good practice to check your own
shop and sort it by Price, then look at the lowest priced and highest priced
items. Most pricing mistakes will be easy to see.

I knew of one former BL seller who had written some kind of computer script that
would regularly (daily?) compare all of their shop prices with the price guide
and adjust the prices to match their desired price parameters. That was not
so much to catch errors (which of course it would do), but to maximize sales
by adjusting prices up or down to match the current supply and demand.

____

Great suggestion. I just did that and caught a few that had typos. None quite
as excessive as $8K though...

After listing many more wedge plates this morning, I'm not sure this is a
typo anymore as there were several with the same $8K price. Perhaps it was an
issue with a bulk upload of inventory. I will reach out to the seller to at least
let them know....

Thank you for sending that link but I do not see an appropriate reason in the
drop down to use As far as I can tell, this (or any of the other excessive priced
items) are part of a super lot. That seems to the only one pertaining to price
aside form the one referring to prices in comments.

If I enter that I would like to refund a buyer $5 the system should automatically
work out the sales tax refunded. I know it's possible; it works with Stripe.
So why do I have to play a guessing game about how much the total refund is when
I'm refunding through PayPal?

I would think you just have to refund $5, tax is calculated automatically.

If I'm missing a $5 piece from an order, then the refund should be $5 plus
tax. That's how the Stripe refunds work. But with the Paypal refunds, it's
$5 including tax.

I think BL finally fixed this problem.

Just submitted a refund for $1.53
Estimated Sales Tax refund from BL = $.10
Estimated total refund buyer will receive = $1.63

Now they appear to finally be adding the tax amount to the refund rather than
backing it out which made no sense.

Actually scratch that, I just noticed that was a Stripe refund. Have no idea
why they don't use the same process/logic for Paypal payment when both are
done form the same location???

The response to our sale has been tremendous. Nearly 15K parts sold in a week
(7K in the first 3 days)!!! While we are overwhelmed with pulling orders, we
are also trying to devote at least 2-3 hours a day to adding more parts to our
inventory. We've added nearly 5K pieces since Friday!

It is time for our annual Spring Break/Easter sale. We have been busy sorting
and adding inventory to our largest level ever and as a result we have the largest
discounts compared to any previous sale!!

The sale will run through Easter Sunday, April 17th

Parts from 10 to 50% off
Sets up to 20%
Mini-figures up to 35% off
Instructions & boxes up to 75% off

We are marking a lot of boxes and instructions down heavily as we plan to start
recycling or repurposing older boxes that haven't sold for years for shipping
packages to make more space.

AVERAGE lot minimum is not changing for this sale and will remain at $.30/lot.

The lot limit will be 100 for the sale. If you wish to order more, a bypass
code can be requested, but we will add on an add'l $2 charge per 100 lots
on top of the usually $1 per 40 lots. Please keep in mind that larger orders
will take longer to fulfill.

Orders are pulled in the order they are paid. We are currently running behind
1-2 days pulling orders due to demand.
