Just read this in the Wall Street Journal:

April 1, 2024 9:31 AM PDT

LOS ANGELES—On Monday morning, Ynon Kreiz, CEO of Mattel, Inc., publicly announced
his intention to purchase BrickLink, Inc. from the LEGO Group.

Mattel is the owner of MEGA Brands, the manufacturer and distributor of MEGA
BLOKS construction toys. BrickLink is an online platform where users can buy
and sell LEGO®-brand products.

The announcement comes in the wake of the BrickLink administration's decision
to remove many older products from the platform, a decision which upset a small
minority of its clients.

After a series of negotiations and research from a neutral third-party market
valuation firm, the two sides have agreed on a final price tag of 2.19 USD.

The deal is expected to close by the end of July 2042, after BrickLink provides
the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration with some much-needed
paperwork in order to complete the deal.

In the meantime, Mattel plans to begin removing all LEGO®-brand products from
the platform and replacing them with their MEGA-brand equivalent, if available.

Kreiz has assured the public that all of BrickLink's 28 employees will be
retained for the forseeable future, including longtime administrator Russell
Callender.

Yeah, I failed that class.

I did well in music, though:

I have two buyers today getting the same error message - "item does not

Then you need to use a bigger package.

I cannot see where I have set any limits, and have sold large sets before today.

Any suggestions / advice?

Thanks

In all seriousness, we need more information in order to answer this question.
For example, what item(s) is the buyer trying to buy? Does it have weight and
dimensions in the BrickLink catalog? Do the catalog dimensions match those in
your inventory? What shipping method did the buyer choose? Are there any
restrictions on the shipping method, such as weight, volume, or dimension limits?

  Did you know...

Washington state is the top U.S. producer of apples, pears, and sweet cherries?
Especially the crops in and around our volcanoes, the Rainier and St. Helens
regions with that special volcanic soil. Washington produces more than 90% of
the nation's organic apple crop.

Seems every few homes have their trees blossoming just now. Makes for a wonderful
drive to the shore

And it's days like these that I miss having to pick up my daughter on campus.
I'd arrive early just to wait under the canopy of their famous Japanese imported
cherry trees.

I want to start shipping to other countries. I've wanted to for quite awhile
but it feels like such a pain.
I'm currently using Pirate ship for shipping and tried filling out their
customs form but it seems like a lot of hassle to do it for every non-domestic
order.

Is there a fast efficient shipping service that makes it easy for shipping non-domestic
orders? Thanks!

Every international package requires a customs form. You'll get the hang
of it eventually; it's only a few extra steps compared to domestic orders.

maybe I can change my name and surname to bl, there is such a tab there. then
I will set up a store from a computer with a different IP. I just need to disconnect
PayPal payments, then with deleting the inventory, I don't know how to do
it.

To disconnect your PayPal account, first go to your payment settings: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/mystore/payments.page

Then, under Accepted Payments, next to PayPal click Disconnect.

To download your store inventory, go to the inventory page: https://www.bricklink.com/inventory.asp

Then, scroll to the bottom and click Download. For the file format, choose
XML and then click Download My Store Inventory.

To upload the inventory to your son's store, first open the XML file and
delete the first line. Then, go to inventory upload page: https://www.bricklink.com/invXML.asp

Copy and paste the XML code into the upper text box and click Verify File.
Check to make sure it is the same as your store, then click Upload File.

To delete your own inventory, go back to your inventory page and check the box
in the upper left-hand corner, then scroll down and select the radio button next
to Delete items and click Submit Changes.

I don't believe there is any reason why two separate individuals on the same
wifi network cannot have separate BrickLink accounts, but the administrators
might get confused.

Hi I have had a few problems lately with buyers and have finally seen the sense
of using BL messages for all communications so there is a readable record, but
cannot get my buyers to cooperate or, seemingly, withhold my email address. How
does everyone handle this?

If you have a strong preference for communicating by BrickLink message, then
you may want to put that in your store terms and conditions somewhere. For example:

Please do not email me. If you need to contact me, please use the BrickLink
message system.

It may not prevent buyers from trying to reach you by email, but at least it
gives you a valid reason to ignore emails and only respond to BrickLink messages.

We should in fact demand more accountability and communication from BL and we
shouldn't stop until they do. That's how things start to get better.
If we just pretend everything will work out in the end, it never will, and we'll
just have to put up with more and more problems. This forum is the best public
way to hold BL's feet to the fire. So instead of going "chicken",
demand better from the company that runs the community we are all responsible
for.

Ever since Dan passed away, we've been demanding more accountability, transparency,
and communication from BrickLink.

It's not working.

Besides Russell, I'm not sure how much management is even aware of what goes
on in the forum. We've not heard much from our Community Engagement Directors:

https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?uName=CE_Eric
https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?uName=CE_Tanja
https://www.bricklink.com/messageList.asp?uName=CE_Uday

But, for all I know, they may very well be lurking the forums, reading without
posting, as I am often inclined to. I've no evidence, though.

But, even if they're not very active, at least "Community Engagement
Director" is a position that exists, and there are roundtable meetings and
focus groups with select members of the community. Perhaps someday,
something will materialize out of these meetings. Count your blessings.

I have received an email asking me to sign up to be a BrickLink Research Member.

Whilst I have no problem with being BrickLink's guinea pig however given
the recent warnings about phishing emails targeting BrickLink users, I figured
that it would be best to check if this is a legitimate email before signing up.

The Sign up! link goes to an Office 365 form that asks questions including Name,
Email address and BrickLink username.

Could someone from BrickLink please advise if BrickLink has indeed been sending
out such emails, or is someone else up to no good?

I received the same email earlier today.

Mine's from blservice@bricklink.com, so I'm pretty sure it can
be trusted unless BrickLink's email servers have been hacked.

Pretty much all of my BrickLink email comes from this address; anything else
is immediately suspicious.

But it's always good to check and ask, and I recommend you check yours to
make sure it came from blservice@bricklink.com as well.

You can also hover your cursor (don't click) over the link/button to see
the exact URL where it leads.

This is apologizing for BL. Why not hold their feet to the fire, when it's

How do I hold BrickLink's feet to the fire? I am just a chicken, thousands
of miles away.

Then why aren't they doing it?

As I said, it's not necessarily worth it to prevent a relatively small amount
of relatively harmless spam, especially when the developers have other priorities.

That being said, if the spam does get out of control, then it might justify some
sort of technical solution, but everyone's tolerance for spam is different.
I don't mind a bit of salt.

Are they? How sure are you? Is it on their roadmap? https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=2547&q=roadmap

Oh, wait, there is nothing on their roadmap???

How am I to know? I'm not a programmer and I don't work for BrickLink.
I don't know what happens in Irvine. All I can do is guess.

Communication is nice, but I'd rather the developers focus on getting stuff
done than on sharing their work with a public that doesn't really understand
software development. At least they bother to update it with past updates.

That is so untrue. Your profile says you're american, the land of the free,
right? Well here's a pep-talk. America didn't become free without people
who were willing to stand up and do something. Same goes for Bricklink, which
we all pay a fee to use, which gives us a say. If no one says anything, no one
is ever held accountable. If you want to see a community succeed, you have to
be part of it, not just sit on the sidelines and watch while it falls apart.
If you see something, say something, better yet, do something, or the freedoms
you take for granted will disappear. Bricklink's challenges are your challenges.
The thumper rule is for the uninvolved - get involved - care about the LEGO community
- be an american hero! (GI-JOE?)

What should we stand up and do? Create a better version of BrickLink?

When Benjamin Franklin was dismissed from his position as Postmaster General
of the Thirteen Colonies, he returned to America and used his experience working
in England to set up a rival system that eventually became the United States
Postal Service (USPS) we continue to rely on a quarter of a millennium later.

I've heard rumors that better things are on the horizon:
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1332403
https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1459043

I've been hearing these rumors for a while now, but I still have hope, for
these things take time.

Patience is a virtue, but Americans are not known for being very patient.
