I sold and shipped an old classic Space set. The set was in good condition when
shipped. The buyer reports three problems:
1. One part is bent (hinge plate).
2. One plate 4 x 6 is broken (really: in two halfs!)
3. The one minifig in the set (classic space figure) has a cracked arm.
He asks to ship it back and get his money back.

I understand his frustration: a small'ish set with three defects is not good.
But I just didn't see the problems when shipping. Still my fault obviously,
but definitely not by intent.

I would rather suggest to send replacement parts:
1. Send a replacement part
2. Send a replacement part
3. Send a replacement arm (not the whole minifig)

Would you consider this a good solution?
If the buyer would persist in sending the set back, how would you handle it?

Thank you for your feedback.

For #3 I would suggest sending a replacement torso, if you have one - I don't
think the buyer should have to remove the cracked arm and put a new arm in its
place.

But as far as shipping the whole thing back for a full refund - isn't that
EU law? I don't see that you have a choice here.

Off-topic, but anyone who enjoys Heinlein should also read The Mote in God's

by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle, about which Heinlein said, "Possibly
the finest science fiction novel I have ever read."

Can we have BL (after a 1 - 2 month period) send out a fallow up email for buyers
who haven’t yet completed and/or left feedback for their order? Thanks all!

Maddening isn't it? I think 60% feedback ratio is status quo. I've
been looking at buyer feedbacks a lot lately and there are some people out there
with 2000+ who have never left feedback for anyone else.

Personally I find reminder to leave feedback emails to be very annoying.

Thank you! I looked back at several pages of messages and found that only 1 of
10 stores actually include the (tax) line on the invoice which begs me to ask...

How come the tax line is not automatically included?

Because the manual invoicing system uses custom templates and pre-dates the collection
of sales tax, VAT, etc. by BrickLink.

Why is there a spotlight on it? Don't tell me it is the focal point of the

It's on a shelf in a French grocery store in the "États-Unis" section

If from your bank, I'd email the seller saying you want the order cancelled.
Then tell the bank that you have told the seller to cancel the order. Also complete
the NSS anyway.

Isn't there an option to cancel the order when the NSS is completed?

Where can I find the tracking number on orders?

If the seller entered it, it would be on the order detail page. It might also
be in the "drive-thru" email if the seller sent one.

Ah, no, completing the NSS means that you can cancel the order and leave negative
feedback while the seller can't leave negative feedback for you (they can
try, but it will be removed). And 3 complete NSSs means the store is suspended.

If there are multiple orders then there should be multiple NSSs. I don't
see why you would not want to complete the NSS(s) to cancel the order(s), though,
if that's the only way your bank will proceed.

First thing: buy from another seller to get positive feedback (all feedback is
transactional on BrickLink). Once you have a positive feedback you can convert
your account to a seller account.

Then you'll be asked to submit documents for verification.

Side note: I've always found the cataloging of "stickered parts"
somewhat iffy. They're technically assemblies, after all, not be sold as
new. I do understand however, the need for space in the catalog for such.

That's probably the way to go but would require cataloguing each individual
sticker on a sheet, so each sticker sheet would become a sub-set? And just imagine
coming up with item numbers.

There was a time I pondered selling stickered-parts in bulk, and as we deal only
new, I thought to give the buyer the part (new) and that portion of the sticker
for the buyer to assemble for themself. I thought again and didn't

I know there are sellers that do this - part plus sticker.

Hello everyone. On 15th of March i ordered some lego pieces together with a set
from a seller. He said that my order should arrive in 2-4 days. The track ID
was not provided and he informed me about it at the start. Once the 4 days passed,
my package didn’t arrive, and the seller told me to be patient. One month has
passed and no sound of the package. Did I get scammed?? I’m very furious and
the seller says that he can’t help me from then on. What the hell am I supposed
to do?He said that there is no receipt whatsoever because there was no track
ID in the first place.

Open an NSS (Non-Shipping Seller) and, if you paid via PayPal, start a PayPal
case.

I think it's unlikely that you actually got scammed, but the seller is still
responsible for the package getting to the buyer.

I understand where you are coming from, but to a certain point there is no need
for going into major detail about one's life or need to share. There's
no need to say "I'm at my parents after dad passed away, my brother and
I are trying to complete a set that has sentimental value." , "it's
a gift" should suffice.

To be clear I'm not asking for anyone to share anything.

I clearly sense a dropshipping case here.

Is it allowed on bricklink?

I believe it's allowed, one wishes that buyers would be a bit more honest
though.

But a nothing says a dropshipper couldn't order from bricklink. Besides there
are tons of different reasons to ship to a different address: a gift, item you
were short on, completing a transaction, trades how and shipping to hotel, business
partner, relative that doesn't like the internet, friend that doesn't
want the hassle to setup a bl account.

Yes, to be clear a BrickLink seller can't dropship since BL sellers can only
list what they actually have in inventory (maybe an exception can be made for
inventory mistakes, etc.). But there isn't anything stopping people from
listing on e.g., eBay, and then dropshipping from BL.

What does this have to do with the honesty of the buyer? The seller can't
care where he sends the item. Unless it causes higher shipping costs or the address
does not match the address stored with PayPal. If payment was made via PayPal.

I don't care where I send the item and I don't care if a dropshipper
orders from me. I just think it's lame when they dissemble and claim they're
sending a gift.

I checked out, the final checkout screen had Batch 1 and Batch 2 on it. Even
though my 1st order had been paid for, both orders were included. He sent me
an invoice that included shipping and a credit for the amount of money I paid
on the first order minus the state taxes. I cannot pay for the order. The seller
has contacted the Help Desk to find a solution.
I would like to think that all he has to do is refund the money I paid, mark
the order as ready or packed and then he could send a new invoice similar to
how a store would manage an order that paid with an offsite payment where taxes
could not be remitted to Bricklink?

It sounds to me like the seller somehow marked the original order as Not Paid
since a Paid order would not be batched with a 2nd order.
