Curious if this is an anomaly as the image for it in the catalogue looks perfect.
But I'm certain I have other new sticker sheets from recent sets that have
this poor quality as well.

They're all awfully cut, and even one of them doesn't have enough of
the backing to cover the sticker edge. It feels like it was printed on a large
roll and someone didn't use scissors but instead was trying to (badly) separate
it by angling it over the edge of a table/bench. Or the blade of the cutter they
were using was incredibly dull and basically only ripping the pages.

Apologies for the blurriness (tried downsizing the image afterwards to have it
be under 2MB).

From a previous ticket I had sent in to BrickLink, I was inquiring when they
would be implementing the marketplace tax for Canada. I thought they would formally
communicate this out, but it's been over 2 weeks since I received the response
so here are the details as I know many were waiting for info:

It was previously mentioned in October that the Seller's fees tax was coming
in and that they were ramping up for the full marketplace tax (like US, EU, AU,
etc...). The response I received is that they were advised that they are not
deemed a marketplace (distribution platform operator, in CRA terms). This could
change of course later on, and they mentioned they could choose to opt in anyways
as well at a later time.

✅Good for Canadian buyers buying internationally (and not getting dinged by CBSA)
arriving via Canada Post, as well as buying from domestic smaller stores who
do not need to collect taxes

❌Bad for sellers still struggling without tax tables, but I'm optimistic
they'll implement them for Canada now. Also bad for international orders
that do get dinged by CBSA that you do not self-clear as Canada Post also charges
a ~$10 brokerage fee, as well as any arriving via DHL/UPS/Fedex

Ticket number: 3CF-2C39685E-0012

When tickets are responded to, it's quick (and the newer portal system appears
like it's functioning better) so overall it's been much better for people.
But the last two tickets have sat open for 2 weeks, assigned, and then closed
without response.

As well, the thread it was referencing also has not be responded to: https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1418927

Sorry BL for constantly being on your case about the tax issues in Canada...
Hopefully I'm jumping the gun and this is not related to Canada somehow,
although in this context, I've only seen GST/HST in relation to Canada.

For reference, please see the thread I had made January 10, 2023 in regards to
what I believed to have been an error in tax collection on sellers fees as per
the CRA's Digital Economy guidelines. I had even called and spoke with CRA
Rulings on a couple of occasions, where they fully believed that the interpretation
was correct, and that LEGO BrickLink should contact them to have an official
ruling (if they hadn't already done one). https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1386566

At the time, LEGO BrickLink came back saying their tax team had confirmed with
the CRA that they were part of the normal regime, meaning they could continue
charging GST/HST to sellers who were already registered to collect and remit
GST/HST. All was fine then, and us sellers were able to continue claiming our
ITCs (it's how we reclaim our taxes paid, as they are returned to us). I
assumed they must have had some kind of loophole with LEGO having physical store
presences in Canada (even if BL servers were located in the US).

But while I was in the Management section, I just saw a new B2B Verification
as a Canadian seller for GST/HST. Picture attached. I have not seen any communication
of any kind to make note of this change. On top of that, if what they said was
incorrect, they understand that the CRA requires them to refund the GST/HST paid
by sellers who have provided their GST/HST (which several of us did at the time)
as BL would have been collecting in error.

May we please get an official response about this.

Thank-you,

Sarah

Ticket #28E-2C1E1E92-001C

Was opened June 15, 2023 with no responses received. I had checked a week ago
and I think it was still sitting on waiting for agent. I checked today (as it
was regarding an inquiry related to July 1st) and it's showing as closed.
No communication provided either that the ticket was closed via e-mail.

Does replying to a closed ticket re-open it, or is the process that we are to
put in a brand new ticket?

Thanks,
Sarah

To our fellow EU sellers who have, or still do, collect payment via IBAN...

Is IBAN still functional in the EU for onsite payments, either through Stripe
or something else BrickLink has setup? And how is it done?

We use something similar in Canada, and I know these kinds of payments are not
common in the US, so I'm trying to be proactive about seeing what options
are available once marketplace tax collection goes live for us here.

Thanks!

I just noticed something when trying to check something in old messages, and
I assume this is the case but couldn't find any info on it when searching
the forums. I can see history of old messages sent/received dating back to when
I started on BL, but it looks like anything that was a response to an order (such
as if I used the "message" link in the order itself) may purge along
with the order. Is this what's happening?

I double checked that recent messages that were sent this way show properly in
the outbox in the messages right now, and also show on the order itself. Does
this mean that in theory we shouldn't be using the "message" feature
in orders to keep a longer history in the messages?

Thanks!

Since marketplace tax inception, there have been countless posts about sellers
not understanding why they can't change an order to Paid/Shipped etc when
they've received payment by PayPal offsite. This is not impacting only small
sellers. The following two very recent threads are from a small store, and a
very large store:

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1395788

https://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=1398000

As it obviously not clear to many, especially those who have been around for
a while and have previously had no problems accepting any kind of offsite payment
such as e-transfers, cash, direct PayPal payments, etc... It would be beneficial
to have a warning at the top of an order page to the seller to say that this
order has automatic tax collection on it, and should not be shipped if payment
was received offsite as payment must be made onsite (and a link to the page explaining
marketplace tax collection). This primarily impacts manual invoices.

Even that I'm not sure will catch 100% of these issues, but it could help
reduce them, and provide more awareness for sellers. Of course, if everyone used
100% IC a lot of these issues could also be alleviated, but BL does not have
any of the features of a more robust marketplace for handling shipping (such
as API integration with shipping partners, or even more granular shipping table
control). Speaking as a Canadian seller, our country alone has the most vast
variance of shipping rates I think I've ever seen, and we can't even
break down by province (which isn't granular enough either anyways due to
remote postal codes).

Long-term, I believe that more development on the shipping side for sellers could
alleviate many of the residual issues for more IC adoption. But a short-term
warning on these orders could cutdown a lot of the headache for both sellers
and BrickLink.

To whomever it may concern at BrickLink (I'll also send a copy to support)
- Primarily a heads-up as this could have a financial impact for BrickLink if
they are in error of collection from some sellers:

I was checking the receipt for the Nov/Dec because I am registered for GST/HST
and I am refunded as an ITC credit for these amounts paid (whether it be a service,
for goods, etc..). The newsletter made me realize it was already starting to
be collected. I noticed the receipt had no GST # on it, which in Canada is usually
required when you collect GST/HST. I'm not exactly sure how it works for
the cross-border digital tax like this one (and I'm not talking about the
ones you guys will implement in the future - just the one on the seller's
commissions), but when researching, I found this (and BrickLink is most definitely
aware that I'm GST/HST registered as I'm the one who keeps pushing for
tax settings for Canada ):

_____

Determining the status of your customers
Your customer is considered a specified Canadian recipient if:

-the usual place of residence of the customer is situated in Canada, and
-the customer does not provide you with satisfactory evidence that the customer
is registered for the GST/HST under the normal GST/HST regime.

If you obtain the GST/HST registration number of your customer who is registered
for the GST/HST under the normal GST/HST regime, you are not required to charge
and collect the GST/HST on the specified supply that you make to this customer.
If the GST/HST registered customer provides their GST/HST registration number
and the GST/HST is still charged and collected, the customer is able to request
a refund from you. Any GST/HST paid by the registered customer in such cases
is not recoverable by claiming an input tax credit or by filing a rebate application
for an amount paid as tax paid in error.

___

If I'm interpreting this correctly, and I'll verify with CRA today, BrickLink
wasn't supposed to be collecting this tax on sellers who were already registered
for GST/HST and we can request a refund not from the CRA, but from BrickLink
and BrickLink will not be able to reclaim this from the CRA because it was an
error in how they collected.

To BrickLink: we recently received an e-mail stating that our addresses need
to be up to date by September 30th, hinting that sales tax may be turned on by
October 1st.

What I noticed though is that there was no mention, nor any forms attached, in
regards to the billing agent authorization forms that are handled by the marketplace
platform with CRA for sellers who already collect and remit taxes. It's a
form that (if completed in the way that eBay did), will have your CRA GST/HST
#s in it, and you have us populate our info and send back to you. It advises
the CRA that you are authorized to collect taxes in lieu of us doing it directly.
eBay did not have us file it directly with CRA; I believe they submit this and/or
keep it on hand that they received the authorization to be handling taxes on
behalf of the seller who is registered to do so.

Any info about this? Thanks!

A ticket was opened on November 21st due to bugs the site was having that day.
I have an order that came in as a duplicate through IC which was paid. The first
processed fine and I see the order info (order #17658188), but shortly after
a duplicate but empty order came in for the exact totals and also completed as
Paid (even though I confirmed in PayPal there wasn't a second payment). This
order (#17658202) has been bugged as in the Paid state since then and I can't
change it to Not Paid as it says it requires a refund (which there is no payment
tied to it as it was a bugged order).

I followed up to Help Desk 1 month later to ask for an update as it's still
stuck in my orders in the open and waiting to be shipped state. Still no response
almost 2 months later Requesting admin assistance to have the order deleted
and removed from the orders list. I do not believe there was a charge for BrickLink
fees for this order either (I had run the order # as a search against BL fee
transactions). So it's simply just stuck in an open state and constantly
telling me I have an order waiting to be shipped. Thank-you!

I'm assuming this is related to the multitude of issues that BrickLink has
been facing this weekend. I just received 2 orders for the same lots/amount,
but the 2nd one says "There is no detail information available for this order"
when I open it (although everything from the order summary page looks identical
like lots, tax, shipping etc). The order #s though are separated by about a minute.
It is orders number 17658188 (the good one) and 17658202 (the duplicate one).

I'm not sure if others will have seen a wave of these duplicate orders just
recently, but hopefully this doesn't have any kind of impact on inventory
#s or BL fees, etc... I don't see a duplicate PayPal payment at least, and
I don't see it show up in the BL fees section (yet). Posting this for awareness.

I have 2 new sticker sheets for Arkham Asylum 70912 but I noticed that the #s
appear to be the alternate and aren't in the catalog (I'm in NA). If
what I read about alternate stickers sheets here https://www.bricklink.com/help.asp?helpID=1562&q=sticker#alternateItems
is accurate, since I'm from NA, the sheet I have would be the alternate and
should be uploaded and attached to the set as an alternate?

Hoping for a status update from BrickLink about Canadian sales tax support please.
(As far as I'm aware, and nothing I've heard across eBay/any other retailers,
we do not have any kind of marketplace tax system rolled out - at least not yet).
We're just looking for the most basic kind of sales tax, not a new feature.
The same kind of sales tax that countries in EU and in the US were able to use
prior to the marketplace collection where it's the seller that handles the
collection of it.

Right now, the only option with Instant Checkout is to setup multiple shipping
profiles for each province/set of provinces at a certain rate and have the buyer
select the one that applies to them. When they select "wrong" (or the cheaper
option), they have to be sent an additional PayPal invoice for sales tax owing
which is not only frustrating for the seller, but for the buyer as well (especially
as the BL system will default to the cheapest IC method). I've held off turning
on parcel/larger order IC with BrickLink because of this.

The last update I received from customer support in April (and then was also
later repeated for the same timeline by admin on the forums) was July 2021. This
was the response I had received from CSR at the time:

"Thank you for contacting us and for the detailed report of this issue.
At the moment our current deadline for the launch is July 2021, however, what
you are reporting is quite serious issue, and I am hoping to get back to you
regrading that in more detail as soon as I get some feedback from the Marketplace
team regarding this particular problem that you described.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Have a nice weekend!"

All that's required for sellers is a place to put our tax number (basically
the VAT # that EU used), and then set up a provincial tax table (as the tax rate
can vary for a seller depending how they're registered with certain provinces,
or based on the province that they are from) where they input their tax rate
they are to collect from each province, and then the BL system would do the math
and show the taxes on the IC/invoices but not be responsible for collecting/remitting
to CRA. This is the same method that eBay/BrickOwl/Etsy/you-name-it use.

Thank-you as always!

Please forgive me for the noob question; I can't for the life of me figure
out how to pull the stock photo for a part. So take

Part No: 18031 Name: Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Greatsword Pointed with Thick Crossguard

18031 Minifigure, Weapon Sword, Greatsword Pointed with Thick Crossguard
Parts: Minifigure, Weapon
It is now in white
#6351361. I know when you upload inventory for a set, it can do an auto-complete,
and pulls in new colours for parts as well (so the ID gets associated to the
general part # if I understand it correctly). So for existing parts, do we have
to manually upload the stock LEGO image, or is there another way we associate
the EID to the part to make it pull from LEGO automagically? Thanks!

Asking for admin assistance for order #16361729. Was a buyer who went into NPB
(which was completed) and stoplisted. They created a new account with the same
name/address (not sure how that doesn't get blocked at creation) to circumvent
the store ban, and placed another order. No response from help desk for 5 days
so far. May someone please assist in merging the accounts and unregistering the
second one? Previous reports from other sellers is that we cannot safely refund/cancel
orders until this has occurred or else feedback can be left by the buyer for
this new order as it doesn't have a NPB process to automatically remove it.
Thank-you.

Had a thought about the previous discussion where it is quite confusing currently
for processing refunds for US states that have collected sales tax. As it stands,
the refund box has us enter an amount, and then below it calculates the amount
that will come from the seller/PayPal, and the amount from the taxes BrickLink
collected, so a seller has to know the rate of tax for the state of the buyer
and also include it in the total.

Suggestion:
-Beside the box where you enter the refund amount, include a "tax inclusive"
and "tax exclusive" radio button where the seller can select it.

This would allow sellers to not have to know the rate of state for the state
and manually calculate it by selecting "tax exclusive", meaning the calculation
below will take that amount, and ADD tax to the total (not as a % of the total
the seller put in).

But this also allows what Niek (qwertyboy) had suggested where if you want to
give a higher total amount, you can check tax inclusive so it'll act the
way that it's currently programmed.

Suggestion in regards to automatic quote cancellations:

I've never received a quote cancellation myself, but assuming it doesn't
already say so, it would be beneficial that when a quote cancellation is automatically
sent by the BrickLink system due to an item being sold out, that an automated
message to the buyer is sent out and indicating which item caused the quote cancellation
trigger.

I just received yet another message from a newer buyer asking why their quote
was cancelled and they wanted to accept it. To the buyer, it looks like sellers
are cancelling their quotes, when it's simply that a part that they ordered
is no longer available.
