Don't understand my problem as I've tried a tablet and two different

I always have the issues you mentioned but only when I use chrome. Are you having
the issues when using other browsers?

Bricklink's last known income 2017/18 was approximately £1.3M That is based
on 4500 orders per day at £25 per order and a net 'fee charge' of 3%
of the total revenue going through the site. So in simple terms 4500 x 365 x
25 X 3% = £1.23M

I think the main reason BL has not done nearly as much with BrickLink as most
of us would like to see done is highlighted in what you have brought out here
about the total BL brought in as revenue for the years of 2017/18 which translated
in USD is about 1.5 million dollars.

1.5 mill just does not go very far especially when you consider that he had to
probably pay at least 10 mill for the site when he bought it so if he applied
just $250,000.00 per year to pay that back then that leave only 1.25 mill to
pay for all the operating expenses to run BL.

Let's take a little time to break this down a little.

So for starters, to help put this in perspective... Sense you know programming,
what does a decent programmer make a year? How many do you think are needed to
run BL?

Have been absolutely shocked at the poor level of customer support for a missing
AFOL designer programme set. Tracking has not updated for over a month (16th
May) and confirms the package never left the USA, just that it has been prepared
for shipment. I ordered two sets and the other arrived within 2 weeks. This package
was supposedly sent 5 weeks ago.

I sent a email on the 7th June to customersupport@bricklink.com and got a ticket
number, then no response???? Sent more emails and still no response!

Have been forced to issue a NSS and finally got a response 2 days later which
completely ignored the original message showing the tracking confirms the parcel
never left the USA? They just said that they "suspect" it's stuck in customs?
How can it be stuck in UK custom if it never left the USA and parcelforce tracking
in the UK also says it has not left the USA.

Last message I left on the NSS was 4 days ago and still no update?

I have received two other AFOL design programme sets and was blown away by how
good they are, but this complete lack of help and support when things go wrong
has been shocking from bricklink.

Can someone from admin PLEASE look into this and either issue a refund or send
a replacement set.
Order ID# 11081679

Tracking information for FIMS is not complete. It only shows the last station
in which it was scanned. Your package could very well be waiting at your local
post office with a customs bill attached. We have seen this several times where
one package will get through, but charges are placed on the second.

Going along with this, I have sent packages to customers where the tracking info
does not change until the day it is delivered, meaning that they were not scanned
all along the way except by the last postman when they were out for delivery.
I would definitely check you post office (or where ever they hold customs packages
in your country).

Thanks

Looking at all the pictures I dont recognize any of them. I cant say for sure
but I dont think any are Lego. Plus, I think if any were Lego then there would
have been a comment or two pointing them out in the catalog by some of the community
here that are faster than jackrabbits at finding catalog entries.

What a strange thing to say. If we'd consider all fraudsters "fellow BL members",
the forum sure would be a cozy place but the marketplace would be pretty much
game over. Especially with the admins not stepping in.
I kind of agree shaming isn't good, but in a context of persistently nothing
being done against this kind of fraud (hidden charges = fraud), warning each
other in the forum is all we've got. Besides, it's not personal shaming
as much as warning other potential buyers for a shop - not a person - with bad
business practise.

Let me get down there where you're at, as you've conveniently left out
the portion of my post that interrupts your feeding...

Yeah, you had issues with the seller, in a private transaction! So you
name and shame your disgruntlement? I guess it's fine to do if it's disguised
as the sentiment "for the good of the community" Disingenuous motivation.

So I guess you're going with the "for the good of the community" sentiment?

Not too transparent, are you?

I'm going to leave you to the likeminded, for now. I feel the need to shower.

You constantly want people to share their opinions in the forum, claiming that
freedom of speech is of utmost importance to you. However, when people share
their opinions and they are not to your liking, you feel the need to disparage
them and belittle their opinions. And I wonder why people don't want to share
their opinions in the forum... SMH

Sharing honest opinions unhindered, I champion. But this mob mentality is something
entirely different. If you can't see that, Randy, or so see it and choose
to conflate the two for your own reasons, do so.

-Cory

How was your shower?

Going to get to it now. Just got back from the gym with my son, is the actual
need for the shower

Remember, exercise is bad for you. It makes you tired and it makes you sweat.

You're are the best, John! Always a smile for others.

I tried to tell my son just that about exercise. He didn't buy. He wants
to bulk up for the ladies this summer

Thank you. I was a runner for many years until I got old. Ran eight marathons

away with my clothes in my hands.

Yes we understand that that may unfortunately be the case and will move forward

We have a five week old newborn and are pretty reluctant to start counting :I

Cheers Damien

You can download the inventory of your store as a file and then upload it to
the new store. As long as you can still access the inventory page. My store has
never been locked, so I don't know what you can/can't access.

I would have thought you could download into Brickstock as long as you can sign
into your account also. Same as you though, never been suspended so I don't
know for sure.

I don't think you have access to your inventory when the store is suspended.
You might need to address this to Admin and ask for a go to download the inventory
(preferably via Brickstore) for uploading to your new store.

/Asger

I think you can access your inventory all the normal ways when your store is
suspended, at least from what I remember from when my store was closed because
of being to late in paying my BL fees. Although it might be different when your
suspended for other reasons.

Example: Let's say I input the colors of black for the torso, arms and hands
into the goatleg banner that appears at the top of the page (when using goatleg)
but I would also like to refine the search when I know for sure what theme the
minifigure torso in question is. This would especially be useful when searching
using colors like black, black and black because the results show 155 different
torsos. So to be able to just see the ones associated with Star Wars or Ninjago
would really be helpful.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

goatleg is a fantastic site, Jim. It's been very helpful

Have you tried Mark’s (mfav) site, using the “Additional keywords” function

http://www.v4ei.com/mini-fig-ure-outer/torso-id.php

The original version of the Goatleg torso search (the one essentially taken and
modified slightly by mfav without credit) had an input for additional terms.
I removed it to streamline the new version that loads the results in a frame.

I just put it back, so you can add terms to narrow it down by theme - sort of.

The caveat is that torso assemblies aren't assigned to themes the way complete
minifigs are, so it only works for assemblies that include the theme in the title
of the part.

http://goatleg.com/torsosearch.html

Thank you so much for the work you have put forth for all of us that use goatleg
here at BrickLink!

I ESPECIALLY love that you have made it so the search bar now stays at the top
of the page when searching, It is so much more convenient this way not having
to tap on a link to bring back up the search page. Plus, it is nice to be able
to just change one aspect of the search each time you want to look for a different
torso or head.

Please feel free to use the coupon we issued you last year when you brought back
online goatleg.com after it's very short hiatus. I know that there are other
sites that do basically the same thing but I just like yours the best (especially
after the change of anchoring the search bar feature).

Google Chrome is not showing the terms page correctly. Basically what I have
experienced on at least 3 computers is that when going to a store's terms
page much of the information dose not show up under the main headings. The headings
show up but most of what is supplied by each store under each headding is missing
and the amount of information that shows up can vary when hitting the refresh
button.

Internet explorer, Firefox and Opera all seem to be showing all the information
listed on the Terms pages of different stores (including mine), just Chrome seems
affected.

Yeah but then I couldn't say that imperial means Far Superior. Plus it made

It's a shame you cant use IC because of the postal options that you need
to use. If you ever do use it I think you will love it but I understand that
not everyone can set it up(like yourself). Fortunately, and unfortunately, here
in US we don't have as many options to offer our customers so IC is pretty
straightforward and easy to implement. I think that if more of the stores here
that scoff at the idea of using IC actually set it up just to try, I think they
would wonder why they didn't do it sooner.

But to your question, we also have very close to 4% of all our customers being
0 feedback buyers. We have IC working and so it is pretty straightforward for
them to checkout. There are also times when for whatever reason, we will receive
several 0 feedback buyers that shop in our store over a short time period - seems
like it can get to be as high as 20%.

  Hello everyone,
Just got a message from a buyer who ordered a small package from me saying that
they got it with $2.66 in postage due. I know that postage due does happen sometimes,
but it was a small order, shipped domestically with my normal shipping method,
which is automated, and I have sent dozens of similar packaged without anything
like this happening. Has anyone run into this, what should I do about it, and
how can I avoid something like this in the future?
Thank you for any imput,
David Perea.

It happens. I tried to fight a charge via Paypal as USPS claimed the package
I sent weighed between 12 and 16 oz, but the order was for 3 pieces total and
weighed less than an ounce.

There is pretty much nothing you can do but suck it up and pay it. I called
USPS, showed records, called Paypal, showed records. It doesn't matter and
in the end, paying the $3 difference was sadly the only route to take. Also,
no one I spoke to knew how the charges could be reversed anyway.

So, just pay it, chalk it up to a random error and move on.

Yeah, I was worried it would be something like that, thank you.

Your best bet, to keep the peace and keep your customer happy, is to go ahead
and refund back to his PayPal account the $2.66 he had to pay to the postman.
I know it is not your fault but it also isn't your customers fault and by
doing so, there is a good chance you will be cultivating a good long term customer.

Just a thought.

I am not surprised that he left you a negative FB.

He has several complaints in his feedbacks for inflated shipping costs.

When reading the 81 negative / neutral feedbacks that he has received from just
3761 orders you will notice a pattern - Nothing is ever his fault! In EVERY instance
where he received a negative or neutral feedback he always blames his customers
for problems. He never accepts any responsibility for his actions and he always
leaves retaliatory feedbacks.

The procedure itself was easy-peasy. It is the preparation that kills the fun.
Some clinics use a laxative pill. Ours require you to drink a solution 2 liter
in 2 hours the day before, and another 2 liter in 2 hours on the day. And it
doesn't taste pleasant.

Again, too much info?

At first I thought you went WAY TO FAR until I reread your comment.

When you said that it is the preparation that kills the fun, well when I first
read it I thought it said that it is the penetration that kills the fun.

And why so upset over just one negative FB when you already have 1% of all your
FB's as neutrals and negatives, it is just one more? - Just curious.

The prices now for overseas postage is just ridiculous compared to what it was
when we first started selling to overseas customers. Back then, 40% of our customers
were from out of country, now, maybe 5%. Back then, out of country postage prices
started at just $3.00 and now it starts at over $13.00 for overseas. Amazon negotiated
really low shipping prices and I think the USPS has raised all of our postage
prices to help finance Amazon's Prime.

  Hello

I am a pretty new seller, with about 100 orders now. I was wondering, do you
think that there should be a printed summary shipped with orders? I was considering
this, but also thinking about the cost for ink, paper, and the environmental
impact.

So, should I start printing or let it be?

Regards Kath from Denmark

For the first couple of years we included a copy of the order in every shipment
but we decided to stop and have not included any paperwork in our orders now
for several years and we have received zero complaints.

What we do to make sure the customer knows what order is in the package is we
print out a sticker with our store name in bold letters and below that we have
the order number. We place the sticker right on the front of the package right
above the postage sticker and it has worked out great - and again, no complaints.
Sometimes we put the sticker on one of the bag of parts inside the order if the
order is going to a country where we may be concerned about theft or customs
inspection hold ups.

  Instant check-out. Fixes that completely.

Does it?

For arguments sake, a person orders 1 of the following at say 10p (15 cents)

Part No: 45406 Name: Windscreen 4 x 6 x 4 Cab with Hinge and 1 x 4 Bottom Cutout
*
45406 Windscreen 4 x 6 x 4 Cab with Hinge and 1 x 4 Bottom Cutout
Parts: Windscreen

In the UK it would be too large to go large letter rate of £0.83
it would have to go at small parcel at £3.00

Would IC determine size of parts or just cost or weight?

tpr

There are definitely pieces that do not work well with instant checkout but not
really all that many and what I do for all the pieces that are to large to fit
into a standard shipping method, there is an easy fix.

On you inventory page, under each part you can choose which packaging type to
classify each part as. There are 3 choices: Weight Bound, Volume Bound and Manual
Only. If you choose Manual Only then when those parts are purchased in your store
it only allows a customer to choose the non autocheckout method where you send
them an invoice after the order is placed.

I use this on any 32x32 base plates we put into our inventory or any other larger
parts. It really works well. Out of every 100 orders we have maybe only a small
few end up having to have an invoice sent with all the rest being auto checkout.
For you it might be take more time to set up then it was for us because your
postal service may offer allot more choices for out of country orders but if
you take the time to set instant checkout up, it really should make a big difference
with the issues you are describing. It is just so nice having orders allready
paid for before I even see them.

Well, everybody can’t be an ancient Egyptian.

Those guys knew how to pack: linen wrapping, then a wood box, then a granit box,
and then a giant stone box covered in shiny limestone, in a very solid pyramidal
shape.

Well, there postal services sucked though: thousands of years and the things
haven’t moved yet!

That is nice packing and all but when someone orders $20.00 worth of parts and
they see the invoice with all the added charges for the shipping materials alone,
not to mention postage, I think you would price yourself right out of the market.

Even if you have customers willing to pay all those extra charges I think they
will be upset when they receive their order and realize that they will need a
jackhammer just to open it up.

Hi.

No, I don't think there is, at least not thru the normal way of viewing the
data straight thru the BrickLink website interface but you might be able to do
it using an API written for that purpose, that is if you know how to to do API
stuff - I dont but others here might be able to help.

Yes, leaving feedback is possible with OCR.

Pretty sure they can, I've seen numerous feedbacks over the years where they
reference the order was cancelled.

I've never had an OCR user leave me feedback though. Are you concerned they
might neg you?

Yes, I am concerned they will Neg me... but we shall see. I think thats good
advice regarding posting the cost of shipping.

Thanks,

Oh and just a friendly suggestion. You should probably put shipping tables on
your terms or at bear minimum state the cheapest shipping rate for international.
Will save you some grief. The way it is now doesn't really say anything useful.

I have had several ask to cancel their orders over the years and I have always
allowed the cancelation but I always state that I will only do it under the idea
that both of us (buyer and seller) will only leave a positive feedback if any
is left. This does not prevent them from leaving me a negative but out of at
least 30 requests, I have had zero negative feedbacks from them so unless something
negative happened between the two of you then you should not have to worry about
a bad feedback.

As an option, if you stick with only stores that have instant checkout setup
in their store then this way you will always know the final cost before you finalize
the checkout and you will be able to pay right away and not have to wait for
an invoice to be manually sent to you.

What’s in a name? That which we call a combo set, by any other name would sell

Sorry, couldn't help it. Had no TV in my apartment when I was young. So it
was come home from work, run the boardwalk, shower, dress, walk to the deli for
takeout and walk across the street to Balboa theater to eat. But the hiccup was
that the theater played Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet for nearly a year straight
before switching movies. To be honest, I didn't mind as a romantic young
idealist. Cried like a baby

I think I still know most lines of that Shakespeare play

That's cool, I like stories about life like that.

Years ago when me and a friend rented a house, for entertainment all we had was
a VCR but no TV so we had hook it into my computer screen to use it. When it
came to movies our choices were limited to a wide variety of one movie, 'What
About Bob' starring Richard Dreyfuss and Bill Murray.

We watched that movie soooo many times that we became really good at memorizing
all the lines and we would play a game where one would say a line or just a word
or two and the other one would guess where in the movie the line or word came
from. We played that game for years after that.

The simplest things in life can create some of the best memories.

WOW, you sure have a lot of multiple entries for the same parts. I counted a
total of 31 separate listings for 1x1 bricks in just black and blue and over
970 listings of just 1x1 and 1x2 bricks alone!

You could probably combine your 25,000 lots of parts down to just 5000 lots or
even less and this way the actual real number you have of each piece would increase
and could possibly be more appealing to buyers looking for larger quantities
of the same part.

Thanks

More of the same is my preference. BUT if just starting to build inventory you
may want to do a couple copies of more sets, like 2-5 of each instead of 10...
so you get the best of both worlds.

I agree. I would probably do 3 of one, 3 of another, and 4 of one more. This
way parting them out will be much easier then 10 different sets and you will
get the benefit of having parts and minifigures from a 3 different sets instead
of just parts and figs from 10 copies of just one set.

Absolutely right. A friend has the Lepin version of 10179 and his minifigs are
identical to mine. Luke's head is a slightly different colour, but unless
you had them side by side you would never notice. From what I've seen, the
early minifigs are easy to spot, but they are getting considerably harder to
spot now they are getting better at spot and pad printing.

I had found one in a batch of used Lego and I happened to have the real lego
version in our stock. When I put them side by side to see if I could tell which
one was Lego, at first glance I actually picked the Lepin. The printing on the
lepin had finer lines and the patterns on the Lepin were spot on.

Well, I must admit that we were the US store he mentioned. We did mention in

that was just stupidity on our part. We are usually extremely accurate about
adding inventory into our store especially when it comes to the color. The really
really stupid part is that I did not catch the color issue when I filled the
order.

I gave a full refund including shipping (ouch - $13.75 - lesson learned).

The large green sticker does not form part of the CN22, that is stuck on by customs

If so this could also happen when the seller puts a value on the CN22 form, customs

It also won’t prefent you from a check of the products by customs at the border
if they do a random check they will not skip the packages with a CN22 form.

Of course I know how customs works, I've been importing and exporting for

the duties alone was more than 115% of the order's value when it should have
been zero, never mind the duties alone was more than my electricity bill in a
month and never mind the order got kicked around for 5 months because of this.
The only thing that matters is that I was forced to pay those duties to avoid
an exchange control fine and to avoid my foreign exchange enabled bank account,
and with it my paypal access, from being closed since I have to have a paid manifest
on tracked orders. Yet the seller insists he did everything according to the
law and 100% correctly and he did not start exporting yesterday either. This
is why I want to know if that form was completed correctly in Germany.

The reason I am saying anything here is because someone tried to be of help,
you did not like his answer so you got all arrogant and treated him like he was
an complete idiot! Why?

You weren't real clear on why you might leave a negative and this person
is just asking why and you have to tear him a new but hole, why?

How do I see Shipping Cost BEFORE placing my order?
I have this vision of ordering a $50 item and shipping is $45

Welcome! Look for shops with a lightning bolt, those have Instant Checkout. Instant
Checkout means all added costs are calculated realtime as you are shopping, so
you see exactly what you agree to.

Going along with that, the good thing about only using stores with instant checkout
is that when you check out you are taken right to paypal to pay for and complete
the order. This way you now have checked out and paid for the order and there
is no guess work involved and you don't have to worry about any additional
fees because you have already paid for the order.

Two other things you should do is look at the stores Terms page and see if there
are any lines that states that once the order is shipped and that if it gets
lost in the mail then they are not responsible. If so then you might want to
shop at another store unless you don't mind paying extra for insurance (if
they offer it).

Second, look at their feedbacks and see what other shoppers have said about them.
Most stores are very responsible and if any issues arise they will take care
of you. But if they have several negative or neutral feedbacks well then your
you might want to shop somewhere else, there are plenty of stores to choose from
here.

This is a great place to buy Lego and there are a lot of really nice people here.

So I remember reading that members thought BrickLink eXpress looked like the
goal was to make BL more like Amazon. This fact, plus using eXpress in the name...

It makes sense if the real goal is to make BL a more appealing buy out target.

Thoughts?

When I tell people that I sell Lego parts and pieces on a site called BrickLink
they are always surprised. Most people don't even know that there exists
an aftermarket for Lego parts and pieces so I really doubt that the BL owner
is trying to build up hype for this site hoping to cash in so to speak.

Plus, lets face it, BrickLink is not a huge money maker and I doubt many investors
would be interested after seeing the bottom line of BL's income statements.

Just my 2 cents.

I had switched right away and I have had no problems whatsoever. It has worked
just fine, so much so that we did not notice any difference in the way things
worked once the switch was made and I could never really understand why so many
did not want to switch. I remember when the announcement was made about the switch
and that, as brought out then, that BL had no control over the issue and that
PayPal was making the switch but evidently that is not remembered by everyone.

Now in communication, granted, BL could do better with communication but at the
same time, anything they communicate about implementing changes gets ripped apart
in the forums for one reason or another before their changes are even given a
chance. I could see how this could make admin bit gun shy in communicating as
well as they could. In fact I have noticed, and it is a bit ironic, that some
of the people that complain the most when changes are made are also the same
ones who complain the most that changes are not coming fast enough. There is
just too much of the attitude that if a change does not benefit me then the change
is bad and BL is wrong for making it.

I would imagine some of the BL staff have already read the posts here in this
thread and the previous thread discussing this same issue and have made sure
that the people who need to know (the programmer's and admin) have been informed
by them if they did not already know. Now let's just hope they will address
the issue but for now we just have to wait and see.
