It's a shame you cant use IC because of the postal options that you need
to use. If you ever do use it I think you will love it but I understand that
not everyone can set it up(like yourself). Fortunately, and unfortunately, here
in US we don't have as many options to offer our customers so IC is pretty
straightforward and easy to implement. I think that if more of the stores here
that scoff at the idea of using IC actually set it up just to try, I think they
would wonder why they didn't do it sooner.

But to your question, we also have very close to 4% of all our customers being
0 feedback buyers. We have IC working and so it is pretty straightforward for
them to checkout. There are also times when for whatever reason, we will receive
several 0 feedback buyers that shop in our store over a short time period - seems
like it can get to be as high as 20%.

It happens. I tried to fight a charge via Paypal as USPS claimed the package
I sent weighed between 12 and 16 oz, but the order was for 3 pieces total and
weighed less than an ounce.

There is pretty much nothing you can do but suck it up and pay it. I called
USPS, showed records, called Paypal, showed records. It doesn't matter and
in the end, paying the $3 difference was sadly the only route to take. Also,
no one I spoke to knew how the charges could be reversed anyway.

So, just pay it, chalk it up to a random error and move on.

Yeah, I was worried it would be something like that, thank you.

Your best bet, to keep the peace and keep your customer happy, is to go ahead
and refund back to his PayPal account the $2.66 he had to pay to the postman.
I know it is not your fault but it also isn't your customers fault and by
doing so, there is a good chance you will be cultivating a good long term customer.

Just a thought.

I am not surprised that he left you a negative FB.

He has several complaints in his feedbacks for inflated shipping costs.

When reading the 81 negative / neutral feedbacks that he has received from just
3761 orders you will notice a pattern - Nothing is ever his fault! In EVERY instance
where he received a negative or neutral feedback he always blames his customers
for problems. He never accepts any responsibility for his actions and he always
leaves retaliatory feedbacks.

  The procedure itself was easy-peasy. It is the preparation that kills the fun.
Some clinics use a laxative pill. Ours require you to drink a solution 2 liter
in 2 hours the day before, and another 2 liter in 2 hours on the day. And it
doesn't taste pleasant.

The prices now for overseas postage is just ridiculous compared to what it was
when we first started selling to overseas customers. Back then, 40% of our customers
were from out of country, now, maybe 5%. Back then, out of country postage prices
started at just $3.00 and now it starts at over $13.00 for overseas. Amazon negotiated
really low shipping prices and I think the USPS has raised all of our postage
prices to help finance Amazon's Prime.

For the first couple of years we included a copy of the order in every shipment
but we decided to stop and have not included any paperwork in our orders now
for several years and we have received zero complaints.

What we do to make sure the customer knows what order is in the package is we
print out a sticker with our store name in bold letters and below that we have
the order number. We place the sticker right on the front of the package right
above the postage sticker and it has worked out great - and again, no complaints.
Sometimes we put the sticker on one of the bag of parts inside the order if the
order is going to a country where we may be concerned about theft or customs
inspection hold ups.

There are definitely pieces that do not work well with instant checkout but not
really all that many and what I do for all the pieces that are to large to fit
into a standard shipping method, there is an easy fix.

On you inventory page, under each part you can choose which packaging type to
classify each part as. There are 3 choices: Weight Bound, Volume Bound and Manual
Only. If you choose Manual Only then when those parts are purchased in your store
it only allows a customer to choose the non autocheckout method where you send
them an invoice after the order is placed.

I use this on any 32x32 base plates we put into our inventory or any other larger
parts. It really works well. Out of every 100 orders we have maybe only a small
few end up having to have an invoice sent with all the rest being auto checkout.
For you it might be take more time to set up then it was for us because your
postal service may offer allot more choices for out of country orders but if
you take the time to set instant checkout up, it really should make a big difference
with the issues you are describing. It is just so nice having orders allready
paid for before I even see them.

For the past year, a little over 15% of his feedbacks are negative and neutrals.
What a pee poor record (guy is an idiot)! To bad you didn't catch it before
placing the order but at least the negative comes as kind of a badge of honor.

Well, everybody can’t be an ancient Egyptian.

Those guys knew how to pack: linen wrapping, then a wood box, then a granit box,
and then a giant stone box covered in shiny limestone, in a very solid pyramidal
shape.

Well, there postal services sucked though: thousands of years and the things
haven’t moved yet!

That is nice packing and all but when someone orders $20.00 worth of parts and
they see the invoice with all the added charges for the shipping materials alone,
not to mention postage, I think you would price yourself right out of the market.

Even if you have customers willing to pay all those extra charges I think they
will be upset when they receive their order and realize that they will need a
jackhammer just to open it up.

Hi.

No, I don't think there is, at least not thru the normal way of viewing the
data straight thru the BrickLink website interface but you might be able to do
it using an API written for that purpose, that is if you know how to to do API
stuff - I dont but others here might be able to help.

Yes, leaving feedback is possible with OCR.

Pretty sure they can, I've seen numerous feedbacks over the years where they
reference the order was cancelled.

I've never had an OCR user leave me feedback though. Are you concerned they
might neg you?

Yes, I am concerned they will Neg me... but we shall see. I think thats good
advice regarding posting the cost of shipping.

Oh and just a friendly suggestion. You should probably put shipping tables on
your terms or at bear minimum state the cheapest shipping rate for international.
Will save you some grief. The way it is now doesn't really say anything useful.



I have had several ask to cancel their orders over the years and I have always
allowed the cancelation but I always state that I will only do it under the idea
that both of us (buyer and seller) will only leave a positive feedback if any
is left. This does not prevent them from leaving me a negative but out of at
least 30 requests, I have had zero negative feedbacks from them so unless something
negative happened between the two of you then you should not have to worry about
a bad feedback.

As an option, if you stick with only stores that have instant checkout setup
in their store then this way you will always know the final cost before you finalize
the checkout and you will be able to pay right away and not have to wait for
an invoice to be manually sent to you.

Years ago when me and a friend rented a house, for entertainment all we had was
a VCR but no TV so we had hook it into my computer screen to use it. When it
came to movies our choices were limited to a wide variety of one movie, 'What
About Bob' starring Richard Dreyfuss and Bill Murray.

We watched that movie soooo many times that we became really good at memorizing
all the lines and we would play a game where one would say a line or just a word
or two and the other one would guess where in the movie the line or word came
from. We played that game for years after that.

The simplest things in life can create some of the best memories.

WOW, you sure have a lot of multiple entries for the same parts. I counted a
total of 31 separate listings for 1x1 bricks in just black and blue and over
970 listings of just 1x1 and 1x2 bricks alone!

You could probably combine your 25,000 lots of parts down to just 5000 lots or
even less and this way the actual real number you have of each piece would increase
and could possibly be more appealing to buyers looking for larger quantities
of the same part.

More of the same is my preference. BUT if just starting to build inventory you
may want to do a couple copies of more sets, like 2-5 of each instead of 10...
so you get the best of both worlds.

I agree. I would probably do 3 of one, 3 of another, and 4 of one more. This
way parting them out will be much easier then 10 different sets and you will
get the benefit of having parts and minifigures from a 3 different sets instead
of just parts and figs from 10 copies of just one set.

  Absolutely right. A friend has the Lepin version of 10179 and his minifigs are
identical to mine. Luke's head is a slightly different colour, but unless
you had them side by side you would never notice. From what I've seen, the
early minifigs are easy to spot, but they are getting considerably harder to
spot now they are getting better at spot and pad printing.

I had found one in a batch of used Lego and I happened to have the real lego
version in our stock. When I put them side by side to see if I could tell which
one was Lego, at first glance I actually picked the Lepin. The printing on the
lepin had finer lines and the patterns on the Lepin were spot on.

Well, I must admit that we were the US store he mentioned. We did mention in
the description about the lot containing the variations but the wrong color,
that was just stupidity on our part. We are usually extremely accurate about
adding inventory into our store especially when it comes to the color. The really
really stupid part is that I did not catch the color issue when I filled the
order.

I gave a full refund including shipping (ouch - $13.75 - lesson learned).

  That is not my problem at all.
Never mind the estimated value was 500% more than the actual value, never mind
the duties alone was more than 115% of the order's value when it should have
been zero, never mind the duties alone was more than my electricity bill in a
month and never mind the order got kicked around for 5 months because of this.
The only thing that matters is that I was forced to pay those duties to avoid
an exchange control fine and to avoid my foreign exchange enabled bank account,
and with it my paypal access, from being closed since I have to have a paid manifest
on tracked orders. Yet the seller insists he did everything according to the
law and 100% correctly and he did not start exporting yesterday either. This
is why I want to know if that form was completed correctly in Germany.

The reason I am saying anything here is because someone tried to be of help,
you did not like his answer so you got all arrogant and treated him like he was
an complete idiot! Why?

You weren't real clear on why you might leave a negative and this person
is just asking why and you have to tear him a new but hole, why?

When I tell people that I sell Lego parts and pieces on a site called BrickLink
they are always surprised. Most people don't even know that there exists
an aftermarket for Lego parts and pieces so I really doubt that the BL owner
is trying to build up hype for this site hoping to cash in so to speak.

Plus, lets face it, BrickLink is not a huge money maker and I doubt many investors
would be interested after seeing the bottom line of BL's income statements.

Just my 2 cents.

I had switched right away and I have had no problems whatsoever. It has worked
just fine, so much so that we did not notice any difference in the way things
worked once the switch was made and I could never really understand why so many
did not want to switch. I remember when the announcement was made about the switch
and that, as brought out then, that BL had no control over the issue and that
PayPal was making the switch but evidently that is not remembered by everyone.

Now in communication, granted, BL could do better with communication but at the
same time, anything they communicate about implementing changes gets ripped apart
in the forums for one reason or another before their changes are even given a
chance. I could see how this could make admin bit gun shy in communicating as
well as they could. In fact I have noticed, and it is a bit ironic, that some
of the people that complain the most when changes are made are also the same
ones who complain the most that changes are not coming fast enough. There is
just too much of the attitude that if a change does not benefit me then the change
is bad and BL is wrong for making it.

Yeah, it is typically the parts that have very, very low demand (compared to
supply) that fall rapidly. Although even there, sometimes they get snapped up
if they are cheap enough and someone can think of something to do with a lot
of them.

Coming from a guy with 45 negative / neutral feedbacks with customers complaining
about being shorted on orders or missing pieces. 45 bad reviews out of 947 selling
feedbacks - if you were one of the big sellers with 25,000 FB that would put
you at about 1200 bad reviews of your store - not so pretty good - so now imagine
if.......

Imagine if BrickLink closed stores with a pattern of shorting customers, well
then I'm afraid you wouldn't be here today. Or imagine if BL closed stores
with more than an average of 5% or more of bad reviews then you would be so close
to loooosing your store - so close, in fact, that all you would need is just
3 more bad reviews of your selling practices and you would loooose your store,
so I think maybe you are kinda throwing a lot stones while living in a glass
house.

I will just stand behind my wall to.

BL guidelines state " Minifigs may be listed as new either assembled or unassembled"
so they can be sold either way, it is up to the store. When we first started
here on BL we assembled our minifigs as a way to make sure all the parts were
correct. Now we sell all our new figs unassembled with the thought that the buyer
should have the fun of assembling them but again, it is up to each store. Now
we also sell all our used figs unassembled for that same reason and if the fig
has a cape then we iron out the capes to make them fresh and crisp to make the
assembling of the minifig a little nicer.

Now in your case, if you are finding a lot of scratched posts in an order of
all new figs then that tells me that the figs may very well be used but were
sold as new. I just dont think the posts scratch that easily.

Agree with everything above. It is not surprising you get a lot of shipping questions
considering you have no info on your store terms page. In fact, if I were looking
in your store I would probably just leave your store once I saw how little info
you have on your store terms page.

I bet your sales will increase quite a bit if you add some more info on your
terms page so that people can figure out for themselves what the shipping charges
would be for stuff in your store. You are welcome to copy and paste any useful
info from our store terms page to use on yours if it helps.

Actually I did notice that you do have shipping set prices set up when I added
something to my cart and you have auto checkout set up so that is real good but
once I added a few more things it no longer showed me the shipping cost so maybe
add more options for larger orders to your auto checkout and also add a table
to your shipping terms. I know the first thing I look at is the terms page for
shipping prices and if there is little to none stated there I usually leave the
store.

Also, I hope my first response did not seem offensive, it was just how I honestly
felt when I looked in your store so again, if you make some changes and I bet
your sales will increase and, of course, adding more inventory always helps to.

I doubt he will. He leaves retaliatory feedbacks for every bad one he gets even
the ones he deserves and in his retaliatory feedbacks he makes it sound like
ALL the problems are with his customers. He takes no responsibility for problems
or errors.

Even if admin does not remove the feedback, I would not worry about it. One bad
feedback will stop very few, if any, from shopping at your store. If you have
something they want they will buy it. There are store here that have have 50+
negative feedbacks and they still get plenty of customers.

Your other good feedbacks will show shoppers that you are a trustworthy seller.
