Today I received the wooden minifigure from lego I ordered about a week ago today
and I have to say it is pretty cool.

Gear No: 853967 Name: Wooden Minifigure
*
853967 Wooden Minifigure
Gear: Wooden Toy: LEGO Originals

I am a cabinet maker / woodworker by trade so for me it was a no brainer to buy
one. Lego did a nice job copying the standard minifigure and producing it in
wood. It comes unfinished and is made from oak lumber. The only thing that moves
are the hands - they swivel.

Has anyone else purchased one? If so, what do think about it?

We have added 10's of thousands of parts to our inventory over the past 2
weeks and have put all of our parts on sale at 18% off except for bricks, tiles,
and plates (which are at 10% off).

Best Regards.

I use goatleg torso identify feature to help me identify used minifigures (goatleg
= lifesaver) but I was wondering if there is a way to refine the search results
by including the theme that the minifigure is associated with.

Example: Let's say I input the colors of black for the torso, arms and hands
into the goatleg banner that appears at the top of the page (when using goatleg)
but I would also like to refine the search when I know for sure what theme the
minifigure torso in question is. This would especially be useful when searching
using colors like black, black and black because the results show 155 different
torsos. So to be able to just see the ones associated with Star Wars or Ninjago
would really be helpful.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Google Chrome is not showing the terms page correctly. Basically what I have
experienced on at least 3 computers is that when going to a store's terms
page much of the information dose not show up under the main headings. The headings
show up but most of what is supplied by each store under each headding is missing
and the amount of information that shows up can vary when hitting the refresh
button.

Internet explorer, Firefox and Opera all seem to be showing all the information
listed on the Terms pages of different stores (including mine), just Chrome seems
affected.

Here in the forums, some have expressed the view that BrickLink is making a lot
of money off the stores that sell here. Some even even feeling that the owner
of BL is making big bucks running BL and that he simply views BrickLink as a
"cash cow" (most recent one was "milk cow").

So the question is, is this true?? Is BL a "cash cow"? I did a little math to
see just how much BL actually makes and the results are below.

In 2017 BL had approximately a bit less than 1.5 million orders (at least as
far as I can tell. I apologize if my numbers are off). For that year our store
had a bit over 1000 orders averaging about $35.00 each so if we use this average
as the average size of all orders on BL and times that by the approximately 1.5
million orders that BL brings in then we end up with a total of $52,500,000.00
which is a pretty substantial amount!

Now that is a lot of money but we need to remember that BL only makes 3% of that
total which equals $1,575,000.00. So BL itself, at least according to my numbers,
makes just a little over 1.5 million dollars. Out of that 1.5 million BL has
to pay the salaries of all it's employees to keep the website running, has
to pay for the servers to keep BL online and whatever else needed to keep BL
going as well as investing a certain amount to advance BL into the future.

I have no idea how many employees BL has but just 20 employees with an average
salary of $40,000.00 a year than that equals $800,000.00 which is already more
than half of BL's gross income.

I know my figures are not fully accurate but even if they are way off and the
average order here was twice as much as my average order ($70.00 vs $35.00) then
that would still only mean that BL brings in about 3 million dollars gross and
for a business this size 3 mill is small.

So myself, I DO NOT see BL as a cash cow. If anything, the opposite is true.
I am surprised the owner has not raised the the fee we each pay from 3% to 10%
just to make BL a bit more profitable but I am darn glad he has not. I also think
that some here need to rethink their idea that BL is being treated as a cash
cow by the owner.

I have recently purchased some used Lego and in one of the boxes a good portion
of the reddish brown pieces are VERY brittle and it seems to be only be the reddish
brown parts.

A couple of questions:

Anyone know what it is about the color reddish brown that causes the parts to
be brittle? All I have to do is just bend a plate a little and 'snap'
it shatters into pieces. Dose this happen only when exposed to a prolonged exposure
to heat, like sitting in an attic? Or dose just age affect the the reddish brown
pieces.

Another question is what would others do in regards to the reddish brown pieces?
Would you take all of them out from that particular box and not sell any of them
even the ones not seeming to be brittle. You can tell which plates are brittle
by just bending them a little and the brittle ones are stiff and break with little
flexing but the others ones have a decent amount of flex. I am leaning towards
taking all the reddish brown pieces out because you cant really tell which parts
are brittle except for the plates and other 'thin' pieces.

Final question, all the other colors seem to be fine. They have a nice amount
of flex and do not break apart like the reddish brown pieces, even when bending
them to the point of breaking they still don't have that brittle feeling
and do not break apart like the reddish brown. So the question is... What would
you do with the rest of the pieces??

When I fill orders I like to use the check boxes on the left side of the order
detail page so that when I pull each item I can check them off.

The problem is that if I go forward from that page to do other things like update
my inventory or maybe see what set a particular part is in that I am pulling,
the problem is when I go back to the order detail page all the check boxes become
unchecked. The only browser that the boxes don't become unchecked is windows
internet explorer which unfortunately dose not work well for me anymore.

I really like using Chrome so my question is, dose anybody know how to set Chrome
to not uncheck the check boxes when going forward from the detail order page
and then back again?

I know there are ways around it such as right clicking on any of the links on
the order page and opening up a separate tab or new window but I really don't
want to have to do anything like that. Is there a setting somewhere for Chrome
that will allow the check boxes to stay checked when coming back to the order
detail page or something that I can adjust??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Each set contains 5 smaller sets which are:

Set No: 60149 Name: 4×4 with Catamaran
*
60149-1 (Inv) 4×4 with Catamaran

Set No: 60150 Name: Pizza Van

*
60152-1 (Inv) Sweeper & Excavator
291 Parts, 2 Minifigs, 2017

Normally I would part theses sets out but I am wondering if maybe I should hold

and TRU is now out of business at least here in the states.

Any thoughts?

I think I found a winner for a store using lot fees for the sole purpose to make
money.

While I was looking through the catalog under bricks I noticed a California store
selling 11 1x1 black bricks for just 1 penny. I popped into his store and noticed
that many of of his bricks were just a penny and it made me wonder why.

Then I looked at his store terms and saw why. This store charges a $1.00 lot
fee for every lot - period. Now a one dollar lot fee would not be so bad if you
could order 100 of that, 200 of that, 300 of that and so on but this stores actual
average lot size is less than 5. In fact only 26 of his 2900 lots (of parts)
contain more than 25 pieces and more than half of his lots contain 2 or less
parts.

I filled my cart with 50 full lots of bricks and the total was $6.61 for 156
bricks. Not bad until you add on the automatic $1.00 per lot for a total of $50.00
in lot fees which brought the total order to $56.61 for 9 ounces of bricks.

I am not one who feels that lot fees should be prohibited because they do serve
a purpose and many stores use them in the right way. It just bothered me seeing
how this guy lures customers into his store with really low prices only to zap
them with lot fees. It definitely has the feel of a bait and switch scam.

There is a problem I am having in relation to browsing orders and using the page
back button.

Here is what I mean... When I go to my orders page and choose an order to look
at and then use the page back button on the browser everything is fine (as usual)
but here is the weird thing, when I sort my orders to show only paid orders and
then look at the contents of one of them and then use the back button I get this
message when using Microsoft IE 11:

"To display the webpage again, the web browser needs to resend the information
you've previously submitted. If you were making a purchase, you should click
Cancel to avoid a duplicate transaction. Otherwise, click Retry to display"

This message basically comes up when choosing any of the sort options on the
orders page, viewing an order and then using the back page button. It happens
when using IE and I just downloaded Firefox and I get a very similar message.
Chrome seems to be unaffected.

I have tried it on 3 seperate computers and it happens on all of them and it
never happened in the past - I have been filling orders by using the sorting
method on the orders page for years now and it has never happened until about
3 days ago.

I would just use chrome but when I fill orders I like using the checkboxes on
the left when each item is pulled but when I leave the page showing the order
I am pulling to maybe update the inventory of a part I just pulled and then hit
the back button, all the checkboxes become unchecked.

I have done some research to try and find a way to disable the message but to
no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated in.

I apologize for using soo many words to describe my problem but I was never very
good at conveying my thoughts by keyboard.

We just parted out 84 of the:

Set No: 10704 Name: Creative Box
*
10704-1 (Inv) Creative Box
900 Parts, 2017
Sets: Classic

I thought I would mention this for anyone who may need a larger quantity of bricks
of a certain color because this is the main ingredient of these sets and it seems
like whenever we part out allot of these types of sets at once we get customers
who are looking for bricks that are not usually as available in these larger
quantities. As an example, we just sold the 336 2x4 orange bricks that were in
these sets right after we put them up last night.

Regards.

I am wondering if anybody here in the forum would know to make changes to the
BrickStock programing because I have an idea on how to make BrickStock much MUCH
more of a useful tool by just undoing one of it's limitations .

The limitation has to do with updating inventory. Right now. BS only allows you
to use the update feature for a very limited number of options. I want to have
this limitation done away with and I know BL's system will allow it.

As an example of what I am talking about, I want to be able to update just the
remarks of my inventory and I know it is possible. Here is an example of how
I know it can be done.

Right now one of the few things that BS allows a user to update is the qty of
an item. BS sends the Qty change to BL for updating as follows:

98380591
-1

But if I change the field to a field, as shown below:

98380591
AAAAAA

BL accepts this change so that now the only thing updated is the remarks field.

The problem is that if I change only the remarks field in BS it will not send
anything to BL. Even if I change the Qty and the Remarks fields in BS it will
only send the Qty field to BL for updating. So what I am looking for is someone
who can remove the limitation from BrickStock maybe by programing it as an update
(or whatever it would take) and I would be willing to pay to have this done (to
a degree). If it could be done by an update then I bet there allot of others
here that would be willing to pay for a copy of it.

I guess one of the problems would be the legality issue but first, is there anybody
here that would be able to make the changes to BrickStock that would then allow
it to work as described??

Last Night I decided to break down a few sets that have sitting around for a
while. I decided on 5 of the

Set No: 70617 Name: Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon
*
70617-1 (Inv) Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon
1365 Parts, 8 Minifigs, 2017
Sets: The LEGO Ninjago Movie
that I had purchased from 2 different
Wal-Mart stores.

One of the 5 sets had been previously opened and, you guessed it, all the minifigs
were taken out and then the set was resealed and returned so that I could have
the pleasure of purchasing it. Well, maybe it wasn't returned specifically
for me personally but you get the picture.

It just really irks me that some people are such disgusting low lifes that they
would do something like this (and probably quite frequently) knowing full well
that chances are that the next person to open up this set would not be someone
older but would be a bright eyed kid chomping at the bit to tear the box open
in pure Lego bliss then carefully opening up the instructions preparing to build
what he sees as an awesome set and then going to BAG #1 only to find that it
was already opened and then slowly noticing that not only are some of the pieces
missing needed for the build are gone but so are ALL the minifigs GONE! And not
only bag 1 but all the bags containing figs. How crushing!

You have to wonder what other things scum like this would be willing to do to
other young kids.

This has happened to me on a few other occasions and the only thing I am thankful
for each time it has happened is that it was me that purchased the set so that
at least one child could be spared. Don't get me wrong, I get very pissed
each and every time this has happened but at the same time, I figure that it
is better me who will at worst suffer just a small loss of potential profit versus
the heartbreak of a child upon the discovery of all the missing minifigures which
are half the fun of whole building and playing experience.

Sorry for the rant. I just needed to get this off my chest.

Just got back from experiencing the total eclipse. We drove about 1200 miles
from Southern California to a small town in Oregon called Madras. Average population
of Madras is about 6000 people but during the eclipse they was an additional
100,000 people. There were large camps of people with their tents and RV's
set up in several locations set up by the city, at a price of course, even people
with land were renting out space for people to camp.

The actual eclipse was awesome!! The difference between a total eclipse and a
partial one is just incredible. Even when the sun was covered at 90% there was
not much of a difference, just a little darker. It was only when the sun was
covered by about 95% before things started to really happen.

To see the sun go from about 95% to 100% was one of the best parts. It was an
eerie feeling to have the surrounding light drop quickly from where one moment
it seems a little darker then normal and then all of a sudden the light just
fades away.

The part I wasent expecting was seeing the solar flares stretching out from the
sun for millions of miles, that part was really cool. I was just expecting to
see just the corona which in itself is cool but the flares were really impressive.

Unfortunately, the best parts were over so fast, Maybe that is what makes the
experience so unique. Even thou the best parts only lasted a total of about 5
minutes, it was well worth all the time driving out there and I definitely plan
on driving out to Texas to see the 2024 total eclipse.

The part that was not so special was the hours of traffic afterwards...

Any one else like to share?

Jim.
