| Adding Temporary PCCs to the Catalog |

PCCs (or Element IDs) often change over time and new mappings are simply added to BrickLink for items that are essentially the same part but are referred to in LEGO data by a new number. Most evergreen part/color combinations have multiple mappings.
In cases where the LEGO Group issues a new Design ID, there is a possibility that BrickLink will split between the old and new entries. In such cases, the new Element IDs are assigned to the new variant. However, because the physical transition to a new variant may take time (sometimes months), we have decided to add new PCCs to the original entry even though there is a possibility that the entry will later be split. We will NOT add new Design IDs along with these PCCs. New Design IDs will need to wait until a permanent decision can be made about splitting the part.
