My Collection

What is My Collection

My Collection is a tool that allows you to build and maintain a list of all the LEGO® items you own. With access to the entire BrickLink® Catalog, you’re able to add nearly any LEGO product in existence to your collection.

Let's take a brief tour of the My Collection interface

  1. Item Types – Your collection is divided by the six (6) main item types in the BrickLink Catalog: Sets, Parts, Minifigures, Gear, Books, and Catalogs. Clicking each of these tabs will change the page to display the items you own of that type, as well as the Add Items interface (e.g. Clicking on My Minifigures will show “Add a minifigure” interface).
  2. Add Items interface – This is the area where you will add items to your collection.
  3. Import/Export – You can import a list of items to your collection, or export your collection as an XML file.
  4. View and Sort options – For each item type, you can change and save the way you would like to view your collection. You have the following options:
    1. Grid/List view: You can choose whether you’d like to see your collection as a grid of cards, or as a traditional list.
    2. Items per page: You can choose between 25, 50, 100, or 200 items per page.
    3. Sort by: You can sort by item name, item number, and condition.
  5. List of items: This is the area where the items in your collection are displayed.

Adding items to My Collection

There are several ways in which you can add items to your collection. The first is by using the Add Items interface at the top of the page.

  1. Add Items interface

When adding an item via this interface, the first thing you will do is find the item in the BrickLink Catalog. You can search by several different types of keywords. When searching by name, your search terms don’t have to be exact.

    Here are some examples:
    • Sets: Set name or number (ex: 910010-1 or Great Fishing Boat)
    • Parts: Part name, number, or Part Color Combination (PCC) (ex: 3001, Brick 2 x 4, or 4211385)
    • Minifigures: Minifigure name or number (ex: sw0107 or Boba Fett)
    • Gear: Gear name or number (ex: 853910 or Minifigure Head Cup)
    • Books: Book name or number (ex: 5007418 or Ferrari Daytona)
    • Catalogs: Catalog name or number (ex: c22au1 or 2022 Australian)

After finding your item from the BrickLink Catalog, you will then need to add a few more details about your item, such as Color, Condition, Quantity, and Part Out (see “Parting Out” below).

Before you can add an item to your collection, you will be required to indicate the Condition and Quantity of the item. However, Color and Part Out will only appear for items that contain those properties in the BrickLink Catalog. For example: Some Gear items have known colors, and some do not; there are also some Parts in the BrickLink Catalog that contain other Parts and can therefore be Parted Out.

The list of colors to choose from only contains known colors.

  2. Bulk adding items

    Multi-Add

By using the Add Item interface, you may add more than one item at a time.

Click the blue plus (+) button to the left of the search field to add a new line. You can click this button as many times as you’d like to add multiple items at once to your collection.

If you click the red minus (-) button, it will remove that line from the list of items to be added. If you click this button by mistake, you will need to search for that item and add details again.

    Importing a list

You can import a list of items as a CSV or XML file. Each file should only contain one item type (e.g. only sets, only parts, etc.).

To start the import process, click on the Import/Export button in the top right, then click Import with CSV or XML file. You will be guided through the process via a series of pop-ups.

When importing a list, you can choose from four (4) different sources:

    1. Custom CSV or XML file – This is a file that you have created yourself, from scratch.
    2. BrickLink file – This is any file that has been exported from BrickLink (e.g. Wanted List, Store Inventory).
    3. Brickset CSV – A CSV file that has been exported from Brickset.
    4. Rebrickable CSV – A CSV file that has been exported from Rebrickable.

For more information on formatting a custom list file, please read our Importing Items Into BrickLink article.

Parting Out

When adding items that contain other items (e.g. the individual parts that make up a set), you have the option to part them out. Parting out will add the contents of the item into your My Parts collection.

When parting out Sets, Gear, and Books, you have the option to include extra parts and break minifigures.

When parting out Parts, Minifigures, and Catalogs, you do not have these options. It will only add Regular parts to your My Parts collection.

Grid view and list view

There are two ways to view the contents of your collection.

Grid view - Simplified display that focuses on visual identification of items with a larger thumbnail image.

List view - Expanded display that shows more information, such as location in the Catalog and PCCs.

Updating item quantities in My Collection

There are two ways to update the quantity of an item you already have in your collection:

  1. Find the item in your collection and update the quantity. When an item quantity has been edited, it will be highlighted in blue until you click the Save changes button at the bottom of the screen.
  2. You can also re-add the item into your collection using the Add Item interface. The quantity that you enter into this form will be added to your existing quantity (e.g. You already own 5 Blue 3001 bricks and then add 5 more via the Add Items interface; you’ll now have 10 Blue 3001 bricks in your collection).
