|Hey there, I'm Alex and I'm so thrilled to have found a place like Bricklink.
To me, Bricklink is a home for all fans of Lego who are looking to complete that special set, finally finding something from their childhood or picking up parts for that MOC.
Lego has always been a part of my childhood, even if I didn't have piles and piles of the stuff. Growing up, we didn't have a lot of money and Lego has been, and continues to be, pretty expensive! I had a lot of smaller sets, promotional bags or little boxes. Don't get me wrong, I did get some larger sets every few years - the biggest and best ones I ever got were the 7150 Star Wars Tie Fighter and Y-Wing and the Steven Spielberg Movie Maker Set. However, in the year 2000, on a trip to Perth, Western Australia, I saw them - the canisters, the masks. Bionicle. From 2000, I was obsessed with Bionicle, especially as Lego's set quality during 2001-2005 was pretty middling in my opinion.
My dark age was from 2006 - 2019, as I grew out of Bionicle and headed into high school. It ended when I purchased the 75243 Slave 1 20th Anniversary, followed by my girlfriend buying me the 20th Anniversary Anakin's Podracer. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
My main goal with collecting is purchasing many of the sets I wanted as a kid - themes like Rock Raiders, Exploriens, Life on Mars, Studios and more. The years I'm really focused on are 1997-2003, as those were the years I was really invested in Lego but never had the money.|
