| Hi all! I'm one of those oddball female long term AFOLs. I've had lego as long as I can remember and really started getting into collecting in elementary school (mid 1980's)
I grew up with lots of secondhand sets and parts as well, which is how I got exposed to classic space sets.
Growing up I strongly remember the few times I found cheap sets at thrift shops and how little I paid for so much. It left a very strong impression on me. As an adult I've created a large collection using the same premise; buy used/unwanted and only when the price is good. Patience is key.
I buy unwanted bulk lots and take great joy in finding/putting back together/restoring forgotten sets, primarily from the 80's and 90's. I'm a very nostalgic person and I feel it's important to put these sets back into circulation whenever possible. I understand how much it means to a person to get that set as an adult they couldn't buy as a child.
When I was a child I was a huge castle/train fan, but as an adult I am mostly collecting space sets. I have a strong fondness for the space monorail sets. I also buy and restore a lot of friends sets, but as of right now I simply resell them, as I am out of storage space.
Thanks for reading! :)
