I'm a little puzzled why these little leaflets are not in the Informational
Book section, and I'm wondering as to their place in an inventory. Inventories
typically do not include Lego literature, especially when the literature is variable.

More thought will need to go into this before approval.

I agree. These information notes should not be listed as parts, as they won't
become a part of what is built. Otherwise instructions would also be parts. And
boxes.

Former IA's did it for other paper parts.

Former IA's did it for other paper parts.

Can you show me some examples? Part of my reluctance has to do with these leaflets
being listed under "Paper Parts". When I think of paper parts, I think of items
like this:

Part No: x1561 Name: Paper Cardboard Roof, Minitalia
*
x1561 Paper Cardboard Roof, Minitalia
Parts: Paper

Part No: paper02 Name: Paper Cardboard Backdrop for Set 1177
*
paper02 Paper Cardboard Backdrop for Set 1177
Parts: Paper

The pamphlet you are wanting to add looks very similar to the many different
versions of these:
[b=3345ty]

Book No: 98550os1 Name: Factos acerca do motor de pilhas 4,5V. (98550-IV-po/it/ja.)
*
98550os1 Factos acerca do motor de pilhas 4,5V. (98550-IV-po/it/ja.)
Books: Informational Book: Train: 4.5V

Book No: 111782eu  Name: 4,5 V Batteriemotor (111782 D/F/I)
*
111782eu 4,5 V Batteriemotor (111782 D/F/I)
Books: Informational Book: Train: 4.5V

Book No: 112117 Name: Technic Pneumatic Pamphlet US (112117-US)
*
112117 Technic Pneumatic Pamphlet US (112117-US)
Books: Informational Book: Technic

Book No: 3366be  Name: Information Leaflet about 12V switches - 'Aiguillage 12 V Wissel 12 V' - (3366-Be)
*
3366be Information Leaflet about 12V switches - 'Aiguillage 12 V Wissel 12 V' - (3366-Be)
Books: Idea Book: Train: 12V

Book No: 98960 Name: Information Leaflet about how to make a train layout (98960)
*
98960 Information Leaflet about how to make a train layout (98960)
Books: Idea Book: Train
...all of which could be considered proper instructions for sets if they had
come with set numbers printed on them. Some of these were formerly listed as
catalogs, even.

If we say "yes" to adding this type of product to set inventories, where do we
draw the line? Then we would, by extension, be hard pressed to refuse requests
like this:
http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=881465

I'm actually not leaning one way or the other on this request and I haven't
discussed it with Jen yet, either. But I do think the above concerns need to
be voiced at this point.

My point of view: if you add such, buyers will expect them to be present in used
sets, not always possible... Aggrevation, confusion, discussions between sellers
and buyers etc.

Unless there is a specific written rule that says extra attributes like posters,
leaflets, playing cards do not need to be part of 'used / complete' sets.
Actually, this should really be written somewhere, as for recent sets, posters
and playing cards are already part of sets and might be considered 'regular'
by buyers

Then we need a new inventory part for 'items also in set but not needed to

We have this already, the brick separator is an extra piece, do we add the known
paper parts also as extra?

I also agree with you, all these leaflets should be moved to the Informational
Book section.

I've approved additions of these leaflets based on the fact that they provide
important information - not attainable elsewhere - to those who plan to sell
or use the sets.

What would be less important to add are the Guarantee Cards. These are going
to have to stay unconnected to inventories until we get a system that can handle
such additions (i.e. a way of masking certain areas of an inventory that are
likely to cause confusion).
