| Spurred by the recent USPS rate increase for international orders it no longer
makes sense (for either buyer or seller) to allow inexpensive international orders
in my store. I am tired of canceling every international order after the buyer
balks at the shipping cost but I don't feel as though I should have to limit
my domestic buyers. Having a separate minimum for international orders would
meet this need. For now, I'm probably going to have to disable international
orders entirely.

| I have not had time to redo my shipping rates chart since the rate change but
even after I do a lot if people don't read it. It's one thing when they expect
$1 or $2 and end up with $3. It's another when they expect $1 or $2 an end up
with $6.55.

What you've done is a good idea on the surface, excluding international shipping,
but giving them the option of over-riding.
However, the downside is that your shop won't show up in wanted list searches
for people overseas.
That should effectively halt people even finding your store. Probably better
if you just find the time to add a chart, or even ask someone permission to copy
theirs.

Hi,
I highly recommend to put shipping rates in your shipping policy.
I have a lot of very small international orders for a few cents and only one
buyer so far (years ago) complained about EUR 3.45 shipping costs.

As I said previously, I had a large chart on my shipping policies page that provided
the exact shipping cost for any first class package to any country. I took it
down when the rates changed and haven't had the time to redo it yet. (Today
is my third of four concerts in two weeks). Based on the number of complaints
and cancelations I got with the $3 minimum shipping for international shipping
from people who obviously didn't read the chart I do not expect this to fix the
problem.

Honestly, we have had a note included in the International Shipping Rates area
where you select which type of postage you wish to have (First Class International
- shipping rates start at $4.50 for the first ounce) - people STILL argue the
pricing even though the minimum was clearly stated for them when they personally
select which shipping option they want.

| your suggestion make sense to me from another point of view : As long as I ship
for national customer, I have a stock of stamp; hence, I don't need to go to
the PO for order that fir a bubbled-letter. But for international shipping, I
have to go to the PO. Then, Having the opportunity to implement 2 kind of minimum
would enable me to have a commercial policy corresponding more to the service
I propose.... Then voted "Yes"

This may impact your US orders more than it helps your international ones, but
couldn't you raise your overall minimum order, with a password to bypass for
US-only orders that meet a certain threshold?
Otherwise, I don't know what the last implemented suggestion was, but it seems
that suggestions are being stockpiled for BL 2.0 while most of the effort is
going into getting the site repaired from the hack.
In the short term, you may have to do what I suggested or what you did by cutting
off all international orders.

| I too have closed my international service and only supply to the United States.
The new USPS first class international charges increased 50-75% on all of my
packages to the point where it is not worth it to international customers(including
Canada). I have had too many customers leave very unfriendly messages to me
about the new fees (like it is my fault). Too bad - most of my international
buyers bought up most of my (unwanted) minifigures!

Having visited your store. It makes sense to not sell international if you are
mainly selling parts with low quantities/variety. It doesn't make sense for international
buyers to pay as much for shipping as cost of the parts. I find it that my international
buyers tend to buy more on average than the domestic ones per transaction, probably
to offset the shipping cost. It probably will make sense to sell to international
community if you have more product to offer. I guess there is a threshold where
international selling makes sense vs shipping costs. Too bad the USPS had to
screw it up for all the wonderful BL sellers. I don't mean this as a jab at your
store, just an observation from my experience. If you'd like, you can use my
chart table. I would need to e-mail it to you, since the formatting gets removed
in messages.

| As a buyer who only buys from the US and Europe I can give you my view from a
buyer's point of view :
I am familiar with the USPS postal increase and I look at and browse items with
that in mind. I buy in bigger quantities.
With the big time difference, it is hugely frustrating when you see an international
seller who has exactly what you are after and at the right bulk quantity but
you can't buy from them, even if you want to. Sure you can drop them a line
but with the time difference it is likely you'll have to wait almost a day for
a response back.
So lately, my new policy is to not bother asking anymore. I filter out all sellers
who don't ship internationally.
So if I was to vote, I'd opt for for maximum international shipping rather than
a straight "you can't buy because seller doesn't ship to your country".

Bricklink could we put this one in place??????
I personally am thinking about cutting off intentional orders. Just doesn't
feel worth it on smaller orders, plus there is extra work, more fees, buyer wanting
to cancel cause there order is $17 and shipping is about $13. I don't blame
them for thinking thats high shipping vs cost of the order, but what can we due
when those are the prices. But $15 shipping on $50 not so crazy looking to a
buyer.

Those you think will, won't. Those you think won't, will.
Just mailed a 1.8 kg order of instructions to Germany ...the 6 or 7 sets of
instructions only totalled something like $13 ...where as shipping was $46.
He paid, I shipped.
And then you get the buyer B&M because their order that weighs 520 grams can't
ship as Light Packet / Lettermail and will have to ship via a more expensive
mode and want to cancel.
Not sure that separate minimums would be the solution.

Maybe wouldn't fix the whole shipping part, but would help the whole is it
worth it to sell international. When I was only selling sets was no big deal
at all. But I have had a few parts orders that got just a couple cents over my
min and made me think do I want to keep selling out of the USA. A side for the
whole shipping thing, the fees are still higher, more work (customs forums, somethings
have to be took to the PO).
Why could it not just be put in place? Kinda like you can chose to take paypal
or check etc. Why not $10 USA and $25 outside of USA? Or 10 Euro in Euro zone
and $25 Euro outside the zone? Maybe some people use it, others don't. Just
would be nice to have a choice. I don't get many out of USA orders anymore
anyway, so I might just cut them off. Hate to but it is what it is. I just don't
feel its worth it on a $15 order when fees and other things almost come up to
half. Cause when shipping is $15 and order is $15 I pay over half the order in
fees, as that doubles the fees. And the fees are higher so its even more then
half. lol
